I like the idea of the festival, it's message but we waited 2 hours in line just to get in, 30mintes to buy water and 2 more hours under the hot sun for the concert to start. We couldnt move to look for water or just move cause if not we loose our spot. After the 4th act we left. People arent really listening to what they talk on stage. Nice concert but too long. Not for me. I will though keep supporting GC.

This was an amazing event ! Crowds handled well. Sectioned off seating was good. I got there early and got pretty close. Great acts. Great cause. I learned a lot. Good sing along crowd. I'd go every single year if I get the chance ! It feels good to help , to do something for people who really need all of us. And to do it at a concert makes a celebration of our efforts. This is a great idea all the way around.

I was fortunate enough to win tickets to this year's Global Citizen Festival and I am so happy to say that I did. The weather, the park, and NYC was beautiful and set the perfect backdrop for the day. All the performers were great. I was surprised by Demi Lovato's performance. She actually sings very well. Metallica was my personal highlight of the show, although Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna were on fire, too! There was a delay at one point waiting for Rihanna to start, so Chris Martin was put out on the stage to sing "Raspberry Beret" while we all waited for Rihanna to finish preparing her greatness. Haha. At one point earlier in the show, Chris Martin and Eddie Vedder performed three acoustic songs together, one of them being "People Have The Power" by Patty Smith. What a treat! Many special guests were there that day. I would have loved to have been in the front row to see all of this up close, but I enjoyed the show all the same in a crowd of 60,000 people. What a night in NYC.

Police was good and got everybody in with no problem. There was free water if you had your own container and there was this pretty blond girl that took my picture for "donate a photo" .I forgot to get her Facebook or Twitter to keep in contact. Major Lazer came on and rock the park and it continued getting better and more informative straight through to Rhianna's performance. All in all Global Citizen Festival is a great event and a great cause . I recommend it to everybody. My only problem is your friends who reach late can't get to where you at because of the barricades that section people off. Maybe they can help on that.

Me and my wife traveled from Guatemala to attend the show, we really enjoyed seeing Coldplay (they played only for 30 minutes) and Pearl Jam. Pearl Jam was the best and all the other groups were really good. There were too many guest IMO and the messages delivered were missing because there were just too many people delivering tons messages and opinions. Cell phone service was really bad, i know they could do better since TMobile is an sponsor. Food was OK. One complaint will be the way they deliver the seating area in the tickets, it does not work that well, there were a lot of friends and family in diferent areas and there was no way to change location (whats the point of going to a show to be by yourself and not with your relatives and/or friends). Cheers

For starters, I had been working for my set of tickets for about two months and a half, signing petitions, calling, emailing, using social media as an outlet. When I received the email that I had won it was so unexpected and rewarding. I left Hofstra's campus at 7, arrived at Central Park at 9:30. It took another 30 minutes to find east gate (not very good signing or direction along the way) and I was let into a gate the was supposed to be off limits but it was the security guard's first day on the job (oops). The gates opened at noon which was a pleasant surprise considering 2PM was the advertised time. Going through security was very long and the other global citizen were extremely impatient. My friend and I had gotten through eventually though and ended up incredibly close to the stage. People were sitting on the lawn which was unnecessary and took up more space than needed. Perhaps I was just around the worst people there, but there were many fights about spacial issues and annoyances. During the performances, even those up close had much trouble seeing since the great lawn is evenly flat. Getting out of the park was a mess, I left before Beyonce closed her set to avoid a lot of traffic but no one knew where to go or which exit went to which street.

I was somewhat unimpressed by Coldplay, but Ed Sheeran was awesome, and Beyonce was quite a visual spectacle. I only heard a small portion of Pearl Jam, but I'm a huge fan and Eddie Vedder was in great form. My biggest complaint is that the television production had a negative effect on the visuals for the live audience. What happened to the large screens from prior years? There was one screen, much lower down than in the past, and the lighting equipment basically obscured it from being visible to a lot of the audience (certainly everyone on the right side of the audience). I was in the ADA/disability section, so I was fairly close up, but could not see any of the artists on the screen, which was disappointing.

This was an amazing event. I was disappointed that Pearl Jam was cut short on their set, but it was an awesome concert. Ed Sheeran was incredible. What a talented individual. They certainly need more restrooms and people to monitor them for replacing poet and sanitizer. They need more booths for food and drinks and a better variety. With that being said, the event was excellent.

I understood clearly that this was a big charity event going into it. Still, the major draw for a vast majority were the four headliners. They were great. Really great. But the talking in between. Oh, dear god, the talking. A moderate amount is too be expected and perfectly acceptable. This was not a moderate amount. This was a constant ramming of the same words, the same phrases over and over and over and over and over and over and over again from 100 corporate leaders. It took time away from the most powerful speakers and took time away from the music acts that we really wanted to see more of. I felt like I was at church being preached to with the same concept being shoved down my throat until I couldn't help but choke, groan and roll my eyes. The end result was less Pearl Jam and that is a completely unacceptable end result. I get it. I care. I think the "Global Goals" are totally righteous, but the corporate bosses are as much the problem as the solution and this bit of shiny happy public relations is not going to change that any time soon. More Pearl Jam will. And what was up with the giant camera tower in the middle of the VIP area that blocked everyone's view? Seriously that was a crap decision.

I absolutely loved the 2014 global citizen festival in New York! All the artists were amazing on stage and it truly was an incredible experience. It was pretty cool how we got to see all the actors and other important people from all over the world speak about how important it is to end this extreme poverty. It was very inspiring and makes everyone want to make a difference in our suffering world. I am a hardcore No Doubt fan and came from Texas for them. And we made it to the very front, which was unbelievable. I was completely stars truck as soon as they came on. Unfortunately, I lost the opportunity to meet them, but I thought it was amazing that we all had that easy access available to possibly experience a meet and greet with the artists, plus that gives us an opportunity to donate back to the cause. The only thing I did not like was that we did not have easy access to food or water. We were so dehydrated and could not move to get water. I think there should be vendors going around the crowd yelling out if people want water or snacks. (Like they do at games) other than that, it was an epic night.

The line for the concert wa to be expected with over 70,000 people there. The concert was great though. What really made it amazing was the last few artist like Carrie Underwood, Jay Z, No doubt but The Roots and Tiesto were really good. I wasn't a big fan of FUN. He wanted everyone to sing along with him and it just was not working at all. Very bad fail on his part. Other than that it was a pleasure to be in the presence of the speakers and actors and more importantly prime ministers from India and Norway and the Queen of Sweden. Absolutely a pleasure. I'm a fellow global citizen and it was great to be surrounded by other supporters and see it all in action there at the festival. Also um... BEYONCÉ!!!!! BEST SPECIAL GUEST YOU COULD EVER WANT! The weather was perfect, the venue was excellent. The show was amazing. I have however never been to a concert that does not provide somewhere to purchase alcohol. A nice cold beer on such a hot day would have gone down well. If Marijuana is allowed (believe me there were plenty of people smoking it) then why not alcohol? Otherwise I cannot fault the day. Love the idea that tickets have to be EARNED through educating yourself and others about the cause and can't simply be "purchased". I also never win any of these kind of contests so I was very excited when I found out that my entry earned me a pair of tickets! The whole festival was a lot more organized than I anticipated with the thousands of people that were invited. First off, NO BACKPACKS. Yeah it sucks, but they made sure no one got through with one. Tote bags, messenger bags, purses, drawstring bags, and these kind of bags were allowed though. Get here early! The earlier the better your chances are to be closer to the front (duh), but I arrived at 2pm and I ended up in Pen #2, pretty close to the front. There are huge screens for those who aren't into shoving their way into the front of crowds. The speakers were amazing, especially considering we were on the Great Lawn at Central Park. It was also really sunny, but got cooler later into the day, SO BRING SUNSCREEN AND A BLANKET/TOWEL! If you're lucky like we were, you'll have enough room where you are to sit down on your towel. They allowed empty water bottles, but there was no refill station. Instead, you had to buy water/soda from their concession stands ($3 water/$4 soda), and they also took the caps off so you can't seal them which is what your empty water bottle is for. Just an FYI. The program was on time with the opening performance and stayed that way with all the successive acts. In between performances there were tons of speakers on behalf of the cause to end global poverty by 2030; these speakers included Jessica Alba, Olivia Wilde, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Ban Ki-Moon, Indian Prime Ministier Narendra Modi, and many others. It was so amazing to be in the presence of all these people who came together for the same cause. Every artist (and I mean every) that performed was amazing, even though I don't really listen to some of their music (like Carrie Underwood & The Roots). Jay-Z also brought out Beyonce during the end of his performance and that was just the icing on the cake to this wonderful festival. Great vibes. Great music. Great festival. Great cause.

Fantastic show sooooooo many artists and surprise artists! Diplomats from around the world actors and actress's to present it was truly a remarkable event. There were times from my section that you looked up at the screen and were amazed at all the people there. They went on and on all holding their lights up together banded for one cause "a better life for others around the world, to end extreme poverty" The event it's self was also run very well. Very organized no trouble at all. I didn't have or hear of any issues by anyone. Well done 2 thumbs up 5 stars would def attend another but seemed to be so amazing that I'm nkt sure they could out do this event! The unique location etc! The event was simply great. It was a high quality concert full of stars and VIPs on stage, in the center of NYC - and all of that for free! The only significant problem was the line before getting into the ticket-only area of Central Park. We originally wanted to enter through the West GA entrance (72nd street), but the line stretched some ridiculous 13 blocks south to 59th street and then around Central part more than half of its width. That what when I realized that the line to the East GA entrance could not be as long (because we did not see a similar line stretching from East Side) and so we decided to go to the other GA entrance. The line there was "only" 5 blocks long and went much faster. The line was pretty long in Central Park itself as well, so time spent in line overall was about 2 hours. All of that said, it was still worth it. Although we were rather far from stage at that point, the screens were easy to see, and so I enjoyed the amazing show that lasted from 4 to almost 10 pm. Beyonce showing up mid-way through Jay-Z's performance was a great bonus. This was my 2nd time at GCF and I will go again - just way earlier in the day, next time.

Most of the people that attended earned their way in by taking at least five steps to learning and spreading the word on world poverty and how one can take action. Event management: Overall, getting through the lines, security and search were relatively easy, but a bit on the time consuming side. Suggestions: 1) Entrances were on 72nd Street on the east/west sides of the park, but in actuality, lines began there and wound down beyond W. 66th Street. If it were made clearer that the line would queue outside the park, I would have walked up in that direction, from the south. 2) Attendees were allowed to bring in empty water bottles, creating the impression that there were water filling stations. With the exception of a fountain on the way in, there were none. The concert itself was wonderful, as was the vibe. In addition to the announced performers, Alicia Keys, Sting and Beyonce made appearances.

The festival was fun and well-organized. We had to go through a couple security checkpoints which made us feel safe to enjoy the show. It's definitely worth it to purchase a VIP pass so you don't have to worry about lining up super early. But there was a tower (assuming it was for filming purpose) right in the middle and blocked our view of the stage... We're definitely coming back next year and hoping to see an even more exciting lineup.

This was a huge festival, so my expectations were low as to how they would run it. The line before entry was well organized, and they led us up to the entrance well. Once inside, it got interesting. Once inside, and sitting down on the beach towels that we were permitted to bring in for that purpose, the Global Citizen Staff came by around 2 hours before the show was to start, an told us we had to pick up our towels and stand, essentially causing everyone to squish up further and be uncomfortable for two hours before the show started. It was very hot, and that was unpleasant. My only other complaint was that they should have had more water stations. [I'll give MSNBC a well deserved plug here] Thanks to MSNBC for not only giving out free water bottles, but also supplying free water to fill them up with. Additionally, they handed out more bottled water for free, to pass throughout the crowd, because they recognized the human need for water on a hot day where people were dehydrating while waiting on line for a beverage. Kudos, MSNBC! Apart from needing to have more water stations and more porta-johns, I felt it was well ran. The venue itself is fine. It's a beautiful area within the greatest city on earth, and the musical and commentary line-up was wonderful.

This is a great premise for a festival, waiting wasn't bad the second stage of corals were in the sun but nothing the security/staff could do. Once inside, every put beach towels down because this said it was allowed on the ticket but within 15 minutes security came through telling everyone to pick them up leading to frustrated people. Lines were extremely long not enough food/drink kiosks which led to people having to stand on top of other festival-goers. Good lineup, speeches from celebrities that were inspiring but had to carry around permitted towels because of the miscommunication between Global Citizen and the security. Finally, could of done a better job on marijuana crackdown good job not allowing lighters in but multiple people still snuck in joints. NYPD did a great job including giving out free water and providing safety for the event.

This is my second global citizen festival, I think was much better than last year, and I love how can you really get to know was is going on in the world and take actions about it, I hope to be there next year and certainly won't stop taking actions to make the world a better place,".

Great evening to enjoy music for amazing causes. the only thing that I was a bit disappointed was the layout, since the stage wasn't too visible and one of the screens went dark at a mid performace. But over all a great experience to be part of!

It was good I did the global area and it was way too big to see the stage. I would go to premium next year. Other than that it was a great concert and event. Great food option.

I started lining up at 11am and the line was already 5 blocks away from the entrance. So when you read the email telling you to arrive early, take it seriously. Door opens at 2, so there's a good chance that you will be in line for hours. Bring your food, beverage and perhaps a small blanket to sit on while you wait. When we finally got in and found a spot to sit down, we were told to stand up as they were trying to fit in 6000 people to the Great Lawn. And they told us nobody can sit on their blankets. I mean, come on. The event runs all the way to late night (10:30), do you really expect people to be standing for 10-12 hours? Naturally, nobody listened to them. The good thing is the staff were generally friendly. They politely asked us, even though ended up failing to get anyone to give up their sitting position. The water line was extremely long, so if you're smart, bring 3-4 bottles of water at least. It was a beautiful, not too hot or cold, but trust me, you will get dehydrated pretty fast. The show was absolutely amazing. I wouldn't do it if I wasn't enthusiastic about the line-up, but this year, I was determined as Stevie Wonder is the king!

The Concert, per the usual, was amazing! All of the artists were great. I will say though, the planning of the "Free water station" was flawed. There was at least a 3 hour wait to fill up your bottle. After 4 hours in the sun, security/staff must have realized the crowd was dying of thirst & started to pass out water bottles. Thank God for this, because honestly, i don't know how much longer we could have stood out there in the heat & sun with no hydration. Next year I'll be sure to bring sealed water bottle (I was not aware that you could bring factory sealed water bottles, this should have been clearly labeled on the site FAQ).

the program was great, the performers were great, speakers very informative. I enjoyed program very well but there are people (spectators) smoking weed and that is very frustrating. The security was supposed to be tight how are they ( not only one as when we moved there are others) able to get in with that. I did not appreciate also the security talking about the women as they go through inspection. No respect.

Can't complain too much as the show was free and for good causes. I do wish that the lineup order and set times were announced in advance. I ended up missing the Killers (could only hear them) because of a line that stretched 13 blocks outside the park and then continued inside. Most of the earlier acts also had very short sets (up to 5 songs), so that was a bummer. But Stevie was great!

I'm 65, and recently had a double knee replacement. We took the subway to 72 St., arrived a little after 3. Then, we saw the line, which was stop and go. We walked south looking for the end of the line. After 15 minutes of brisk walking, we were at 59 St. and that still wasn't it. The way the line was moving so slowly, we figured it would be an hour and a half until we got inside. We were facing the prospect of standing 6-7 hours with no seats and not being able to get anywhere near the stage and not being permitted to leave for refreshments and return. If I had been with someone a bit more adventurous, I would gladly have given it a shot, but we split. I was OK with that. We watched several of the key performances in HD on the Samsung through Bowers & Wilkins speakers. All in all it was just fine. Keep it up, great to see everyone have a great time for so many great causes..

It's very crowded, I was prepared but it seemed like other people were not. It's a very nice day and shows that doing something can be a lot but if it's VERY hot like it was, make sure to drink tons of water. Green Day & The Killers were amazing!! Overall, if you like the lineup & like that so many people can crowd into Central Park and everything is peaceful & for a good cause...you'd like this.

Killers should have gone onstage right before Green Day. We were shocked and disappointed that The Killers were second and the Lumineers and Chainsmokers performed later in the more prime spot. Not sure why? Stevie, Pharrell were perfection!

I'm going to start with how this event is for a great great cause and brings so much awareness to issues our world is facing, how they are man made, and how people can fix them. Next, the level of security was way too intense (especially for a concert that's free for most of the attendees). Like the TSA, having guards and bag checks is all just security theatre and doesn't actually accomplish anything. It's a waste of resources which could've been better spent distributing water. Greenday was one of the best acts I've ever seen.

This was my second Global Citizen Festival. Lines are extremely long to get in, but once, in the music is worth it. Of course, with so many people, getting close to the stage is nearly impossible, but there are several large screens and the sound is great, although there is a bit of a delay. The acts this year were all very good from The Lumineers, the Chain Smokers, The Killers, Andra Day, Green Day, and headliner, Stevie Wonder. If I had to choose just one as my favorite, it has to be Green Day. They performed many of their hits, highly energetic set that really rocked the crowd. Would definitely try to get tickets again depending upon performers for that year.

Amazing lineup but it was unfortunate they would not share schedule prior. We paid for VIP too only to wait in ridiculous lines because not enough food, water or bathrooms. One way in and out was jammed. Too much talking onstage and not enough music so nobody in crowd was paying any attention. And no beer... also unless you were center stage the design of the stage blocked the screens.

the whole day as an experience was great. I've never been to a festival quite like this, there was a lot of talking in-between acts and yeah, I get that this festival is about fundraising and the people. but there seemed to be a lot of people just self promoting and piggybacking of the famous bands that where performing. apart from that, green day and the killers where out of this world. couldn't replace the memories and the energy of the acts, incredible performances.
