Atreyu

ATREYU IN CONCERT:Atreyu has been bringing the metalcore mayhem to stages big and small for nearly two decades, and they're as brutal as ever in the wake of 2015's acclaimed Long Live LP. In concert the band is a maelstrom of sonic ferocity, unleashing searing guitar riffs, undulating basslines, and blistering blast beats that always get fans thrashing. Frontman Alex Varkatzas leads the headbanging charge, issuing guttural growls and searing screams while he stalks around the stage with rabid intensity. The rest of the band is a well-oiled machine, alternating between hard-charging passages and heavy breakdowns with dizzying virtuosity.

We opted for the vip tickets available on their fan page. This was a vday gift for my boyfriend as they were never a favorite band of mine. I was blown away at the show! Iv been to more concerts than I can count, but these guys sounded as good, if not better live than on CD,and they really knew how to work a crowd! Between guitar solos in the center of the "pit" to their fun joking attitude and the fact that none of them seemed anything but sober, you could tell there was no place they would rather be than right there on stage, back touring and making music.(Also the only concert iv ever took the time to leave a review for) VIP TIME: after the show we all were lined up by the brother of one of the band members. My fear was that my boyfriend would be crushed to find out his idol was a jerk, but NOPE! they were nicer, more humble, and down to earth than the majority of people you cross in every day life, hell, more than most of my friends and family! There was no rush at all. A band of 5 greeting about 12-15 ppl for atleast a half an hour with signatures,1on1 photos, 1on1 long conversations about anything we wanted... it was amazing. We had our fill and left while they were still talking and joking with the small amount of vip holders that hadn't left yet. We drove nearly 4 hours each direction to see the show. I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I could. They are by far a favorite band of mine now. I will forever be a fan of theirs.

This was my first time at Irving Plaza. Beautiful place, filled with history. Very good venue for concerts too. I'm not really a fan of this genre, but my boyfriend's friend bailed at the last second and I wasn't going to let the tickets go to waste! The opening act, that we caught, was okay. It was Beartooth. Atreyu is pretty easy to get into. They're also pretty funny and seem easy to get along with, if given the chance. Very crowd oriented, with the guitarist going through the crowd a couple of times and the lead singer crowd surfing. I'd definitely go again.

The show was by far AWESOME! I had so much fun and was an awesome line up. I spent my money well. I did end up bruised but it was so well worth it. Both my friend and I talked about the night and the bands the whole way home. The only thing I didn't like was that I did get shoved around and smooshed :( I am a smaller and it was hard to breathe at some points because there were a lot of bigger people pushing me and putting me in horrible positions.

Atreyu has been one of my favorite bands for years. They helped me maintain my sanity throughout two tours of duty in Iraq. I've been trying to see them live for ten years, but have always missed them. Finally seeing them live was incredible. I hope they come back to Boston soon and I would definitely go see them again. This was the first show I've seen at the Paradise Rock Club. The club is perfect for a rock show. No matter where you stand, you're still close to the stage and in great view of the show.

This was an all around good show. It was cool to see Vanna come up and do something quick with Beartooth. They rocked it by the way. I look forward to seeing new material from Beartooth and seeing them live more. Atreyu put on a really fun show. It was a lot different from when I saw them years and years ago after The Curse came out. They were also very confident that the audience has followed them through their discography because they played some of their most popular songs (Right Side of the Bed, The Crimson, etc) at the beginning of the set. The crowd loved everything. Brandon's voice is still great. I'm still amazed he can sing like that while playing drums and Alex is very energetic. His vocals were mixed pretty low it seemed, but he was dancing around the whole stage and made it out into the crowd and even into the balcony throughout the show. Looked like he was really enjoying the tour. If you get a chance to see them live, you really should. Long days and pleasant nights.

I was at this show for one group. WOVENWAR. Malaki was ok, female singer with pretty good range. Wovenwar was awesome, exceeded my expectations 10 fold and I can't wait until they return to the area. After wovenwar ended I left, don't care or listen to beartooth or atreyu. Funny moment was the amateur standing in front of me who was wasted on 2 bud lights. Dude learn to be able to handle your booze, bud light? Your friend and girlfriend were embarrassed by your inability to not be smashed on 2 bud lights... loser

The show was really good and venue was really clean. Most of the opening bands were good, although the sound quality could have been improved; sometimes the vocals were really hard to hear. When Atreyu took the stage though, it seemed most of the bugs were worked out and everything was audible. The show was really fluid, in that one band would be playing on one side of the stage, and another would be setting up at the same time. That way, as soon as the current band finished, the next one would start right up with pretty much no down time. It was nice to pretty much have continuous music playing. Atreyu was awesome and played for about an hour and 15 mins, mixing everything old and new.

The show was great, but the set started WAAAAYYYYY too early, and that was not communicated. The early start time wasn't all that strange, but the headliner going on from 8:20-9:30 was EXTREMELY early. If this is a law because of an all ages show, this needs to be communicated to ticket holders. We were visiting from out of town and missed all of the opening acts and almost missed Atreyu's opening because we didnt get there until about 8 (which is usually before the lead in band goes on).

The concert at the Beaumont Club Nov, 20th was AMAZING! :] Chiodos, Bless the fall, and Atreyu were all amazing. Bless the Fall put on the best performance I think. They were really interactive with the crowd which made it fun for everyone! Chiodos were amazing as well, they really put on a great show. Atreyu was also amazing. Atreyu had by far the best light show, and the best bass. I originally never knew who atreyu was untill I started dating my boyfriend a few years ago. Since they are his favorite band I was introduced. Not Im not much for screamo but I hardly think Atreyu can be classified as just that. Anyways I was excited that me and my bf both got to go and see them. He is in the military so the last few times he has been over seas and was unable to go. Saturday night was amazing and Atreyu put on a wicked show. The lead singer ripped his shirt off and I was in heaven!

5th time seeing Atreyu, but 1st time seeing them as the headliner (and not on a Festival tour). Of course, they were freaking amazing as usual! Their stage energy is so high, and you can tell they really have fun with it and love what they do. Marc, the bassist, was making silly faces at people in the crowd and got in the middle of the mosh pit while playing the bass and people moshing around him - epic!

The best part of the entire concert was the whole 45 minutes that BTF played for. I've never seen a band connect with the crowd so fluidly. Almost no one there knew them. But they moshed the most when they played their first song, and every song after that. Even the time between songs was not dull. The singer communicated with the audience like they were already their biggest fans. Btf was defintiely the best band there, by far. Chiodos was a disappointment. It was my first time seeing them in concert, but I feel like they're nothing without Craig Owens. The singer doesn't come close to him. Atreyu was very good, definitely worth the 32 bucks to see all of these bands live.

Well the opening band Endless Hallway, was well they weren't great, but when Architects (UK) made the show a little better, plus it was a sunday night so not many people were at the show, when Chiodos Came on well I do NOT like their new lead singer, because well we all know Craig got kicked out I'm sorry but Brandon sucks as the new vocalist, he looks like the guy from 3OH!3, but I have no beef with chiodos, moving on, Blessthefall, rocked it, My third time watching them and they always bring it! :D, Beau Bokan couldn't jump off the stage because he was instructed not to, so instead he asked the audience to crowd surf and give him a high five, obviously I think security got tired and started throwing people back into the crowd, Lastly Atreyu they were amazing, they rocked the show and brought it home. The Drum Solo was also amazing btw, if you didn't see it you missed a great drum solo. :D

This show was friggin' awesome. Two good bands opened it up, followed by Chiodos who put on a solid performance (though they're not who I went to see). Blessthefall blew that place up, played all the songs I hoped they would off the new and old album and had an awesome stage presence. Then came Atreyu who lit it up as always. From "Aint Love Grand" to the new album, they were incredible and interacted great with the crowd.

Alright, so Chiodos was by far the best performance of the night. Blessthefall a close second. But Atreyu has completely sold out. Not only does their new music suck, but their performance has become weak as hell. They played maybe four or five good songs all night, and had little to no energy on stage. I didn't even see them sweating up there. Get back to the old stuff, to music from The Curse, to real metal music. Also, you know a band has changed for the worse when the crowd used to be moshers and now it's hardcore dancers. Just pathetic.

From beginning to end, my kids, their friends and myself, had an amazing time. Endless Hallway started off the night, and though I can't say they blew me away, for a band just starting out they are really pretty good. I would definitely see them again. After that the music seemed to only get better and the crowd get more pumped up, for the final act. Bless The Fall seemed to really get the crowd moving and involved as did Chiodos. They were both great to watch. Atreyu, wow! They were just amazing! Non-stop energy on stage and the crowd never stopped moving or singing along. The bands I would absolutely love to see again would be Atreyu, BTF, and Endless Hallway. My teenage kids would see them all again. They had a kick a** time. I have never been to the Starland Ballroom, but will absolutely go back for future shows there. It was a great night of music with my family and friends.

Let me begin with just saying I have seen both Atreyu and Chiodos (the bands I went to see) and they are both phenomenal live. They are all talented musicians and their performances are usually amazing. I think the problem was the venue. Starland Ballroom was a nice place, and was very small, which I like to see in a venue. But, what was a big problem was the sound quality. During all of the bands sets, you could honestly not hear anything. I'm not sure if it was just too loud or what, but it was very uncomfortable. When Chiodos finally came on, I was practically jumping for joy, but, by the time they played like 3 songs, I was more disappointed then I've ever been at a concert. I knew the first 2 songs, and I basically only sang along because I knew all the songs by heart. I could not hear Brandon, the singer whatsoever. All I heard was the faint (but loud) sound of the band and a swirling noise in my ear. So, they started playing their 3rd song, and I did not know all of the words, so I literally had no idea what was going on, and this caused me to be lost for the entirety of their set. I had to rely on the singing of the people that were near me to know what song was being played. The same went for the rest of the bands. Atreyu was a little better, but not much. I was very angry because it took me 2 months to convince my parents to drive me and my friend almost 2 hours to the venue, and it was not up to par. I could not hear 100% for 3 days after the concert. And I know I'm not the only one that feels this way, because my friend said the same thing before I ever mentioned it, and I heard people saying it as well as I walked by and overheard what they were saying. I know for a fact I will never go to a show at Starland Ballroom ever again. I do recommend seeing Atreyu and Chiodos, just at a different venue.

Atreyu definitely does not get enough credit for being such talented musicians. It's great to see a show where the band both knows how to work the crowd and can play at a superior level. Went to see Chidos with Atreyu, Bless the fall, and Architecht. I went to see Chidos, even though Atreyu was headlining, but Bless the Fall really stole the show. On their last song, the singer jumped into the crowd, had them lift him up, he grabbed the rafters and finished the song hanging upside down. I mean, how do you beat that?

While I have been lucky enough now to witness the Atreyu magic for my 4th time, I was yet again completely satisfied with their performance, however, for some reason the crowd for this show was not the 'normal' Atreyu crowd I have become used to. There was very little moshing going on this past Saturday which really surprised me. Perhaps it is due to the fact that the last time I saw Atreyu play was at Mayhem Fest in Hartford Ct and as soon as the OompaLoopas ended the crowd went wild.. lol Chiodos I feel had put on the best performance I have ever witnessed out of them. This was my 3rd Chiodos show and after being totally disappointed from their show at Bamboozle this past year it was really very nice to watch Chiodos pull off a very satisfying show. Kudos to them! Now, here is my two cents on the opening band... WHY oh WHY would this band be in this line up?? They did not fit in at all.. sorry to say I can not even remember the band's name.. sorry guys. I am saving the best for last here. BLESS THE FALL.. OK.. I have seen these guys at the cool tour and once before however, this past Saturday in my opinion.. BLESS THE FALL owned NJ! They were energetic, they were gracious and at the same time.. they were fierce! Beau did an amazing .. NO AN AMAZING JOB interacting with the crowd.. I was so deeply impress with them tonight I felt almost embarassed that they were an opening band and not a headliner. After their performance I witnessed the most amazing thing.. these guys were out at merch area interacting with the fans. Not just posing for pictures but really carrying on conversations, thanking each and everyone who approached them AND giving each devoted and non alike Bless the Fall fan a hug. Not a pervasive hug but a thankful for being here hug. I was truly impressed and deeply moved.. It is so nice to watch a band evolve like this and these boys are going someplace bigger. Forget the Beau, Craig , Ronnie drama... After witnessing this show... who is Craig anyway?? Also, I was fortunate to bump into the boys out in the parking lot as 'family' members were nourishing them and congratulating them and I of course interrupted long enough to say these words... I have to tell you guys something... I saw you a few months ago on the cool tour.. you were a band.. tonight boys you became ENTERTAINERS.. You OWNED this place tonight!!.. The outpouring of gracious grattitude I was given was overwhelming to say the least.. IF YOU HAVE NOT GONE TO A BLESS THE FALL SHOW.. DO IT.. DONT THINK ABOUT IT.. JUST DO IT..

This is my sixth time seeing this band and I will definitely go again! Their live show is even better than their recorded media. They put their hearts and souls into the performance and have a very professional polished presence. They are a bunch of great guys (I had the opportunity to meet them once) and they really care about their fans and their music. You can't do better than this! If you have the opportunity to see ATREYU......GO! You will have a GREAT time!
