Demetri Martin

Very funny night with Demetri Martin at the Wilbur. I've seen him before on this tour and I was a little nervous that it would be a lot of the same material. However, I think it was almost completely different. His show format is fun in that he starts out with some stories & jokes, switches to a sketch pad of funny pictures that he's drawn, does some more jokes and then ends the show playing the guitar, while telling more short jokes. My sons and I got to meet him afterwards at the meet and greet. We were at the end of the line, but he was very laid back and spoke to my kids, asked them questions and signed our copies of his books. Great show for all of us.

Not surprisingly, Demetri was once again fantastic! ALL NEW material. I surprised my husband on his birthday and he was thrilled! Especially as he always look for Demetri shows, but unfortunately hasn't been around in a few years. Stating the obvious in ways one would never think on their own, it resounds perfectly and makes you laugh all nite. Not raunchy or rude, but hysterical. A MUST SEE. And of course, VIP backstage passes made it a night to never forget, though my bank account would disagree. Totally worth it however.

The show was very funny and he interacted with the audience.

My Husband and I are huge fans!! It is hard to find the right word to describe just how funny Demetri is!! If you can't see him in person, watch his show on Comedy Central, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait for him to come back to Minnesota.

It was hysterical! Would recommend it to anyone! I don't think that I stopped laughing for more than 30 seconds the entire show.

I think it was hilarious and pretty much any would think so. He's not a dirty comedian that uses a lot a swear word every other sentence but he isn't too wholesome either, which makes him just right.

When he did his flip chart routine - like he does on the show to play with words -- the flip chart could only be seen if you were sitting right in front of it. He needed a much bigger flip chart or screen and a black thick magic marker - not some lame pen you could barely see. We were slightly off to the side and could not see a thing. VERY disappointing. Surely he can afford better props than he had.

I've seen most of Demetri's televised stand-up and thought it was very funny. His live show is absolutely hilarious. I don't know that I've ever laughed that hard in my life. My face hurt from laughing so much when I left the theater. I would definitely see him again if I had the chance.

While the opener was a little lackluster, Demetri Martin absolutley killed it. With mostly new material but still a decent amount of classics, it was hard to get much better. Other than not being able to see some of the visual material so well; I have no complaints.

If you are smart and you like stuff that is odd and funny, go see DM. He is super-awesome! If you are not smart...Dane Cook always seems to be on tour!

Demetri Martin was awesome, I don't remember the person who opened for him, but he was really not good.

I saw him on Comedy Central first and had to see him live when I found out he would be in the area. I laughed from the very beginning to the very end. It was an evening very well spent; I didn't want the show to end.

Not just hilarious, but quick-witted as well, Martin puts on a fantastic show. He made a lot of spur-of-the-moment jokes, interacted with the audience, and even put a heckler in his place at everyone's amusement! One of the best comedians on tour.

Demetri was absolutely hilarious. He mixed in tons of new jokes with some of the best of his older jokes. I was delirious with laughter by the end of the show!

Ended up in the back of the theatre, but it was still worthwhile. Just as funny, maybe funnier, than the comedy central show. Can take a local issue, of which he is completely unaware, and spin audience reactions to make it into a recurring joke. Lots of material here in Kansas City, audience-wise :)

The date of this event was changed from its original, but an email was sent so quickly that it we had no problem adjusting our schedule. The venue is a great place, with a full bar and really great staff. Staff was also really helpful in getting to our seats or helping locate the restroom. And then, there was Demetri Martin! He was a little late coming on stage, which created great anticipation. The show was phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He even interacted with a couple people in the audience and that was hilarious. At the end he asked the audience if they had questions and that was brief, but an sweet unexpected bonus. Overall, it was awesome; I hadn't laughed like that in a long time!

Demetri Martin is a favorite comedian of my boyfriend's. I bought him the tickets for his birthday, and the show was great. We both had a fantastic time laughing. I would definitely see one of his shows again. His act is great!

After seeing Margaret Cho there 2 weeks earlier, he was such a breath of fresh air. No bashing the President. Just very funny observational comedy. Has such a funny way of seeing things. One of the best comedians I've seen & I've seen a lot. His opening act ( Josh Johnson?) was really good too. Excellent show.

The gentleman that opened (didn't catch his name), the venue, the bartender, the security and most importantly Demetri combined for a night to be remembered. Would highly recommend and plan on seeing him again in the future.

Okay, live comedy is my guilty pleasure. 20 Monroe and Demetri Martin did not disappoint. He has a great take on every day life.

I've followed Demetri Martin since his Comedy Central days. I saw him in Atlantic City back in 2014, and, at the time, thought he was pretty good live. After seeing this live set, I have to say, I think he's more than just pretty good. He had all new, hilarious material, and even played off of the crowd really well. I heard nothing but laughter throughout the whole show. Very memorable performance!

The title of the show is not far off... the whole show was awkward and his transitions were cringe worthy. A lot of times I recall him saying okay what joke should I do next... and I ve only been to a few comedy shows but it seems like that was awkward. Also the seats were comfortable but crammed in so close together that I was practically sitting on top of the person next to me. Overall I d say I had some laughs and enjoyed myself, but it was not worth the price I paid per ticket.

So funny for a pretty clean comedian. Very clever and witty.

Demetri deserved a much larger crowd (at least on the lawn).... He was absolutely hysterical with his desert dry delivery and his countless observations on life both large and small. We see many comedians and he is definitely in the top 5, if not the top 3. I love Jim Gaffigan, who we had seen the week earlier at DTE, but the three of us agreed that Demetri's show was superior. I would go back in a minute as this was entirely new material.

Smart and fun show. Very clever material and there was never a lull in the show. Highly recommended!

Was a huge fan of his previous tv specials, and I've seen him live in Boston twice now. This show was even better than the first time and I don't think you really get a chance to stop laughing. On a separate note it's a national tragedy that he doesn't have a tv show anymore...

The opener was great and the interaction with the crowd was fantastic. His material was great and his off the cuff humor was fantastic.

Demetri was funny all by himself, but then made the show even better when inviting his friends on stage for an impromptu conversation. He had two men from Bob's Burger's and Archer!! So cool!

Demetri Martin is an absolute must-see. Non-stop hilarity. No valleys, all one peak throughout the whole show. Always a variety, as he switches things up with standard stand-up, genius one-liners, the canvas/illustration jokes, and also the guitar and harmonica set. No one else comes close.

My husband and I were so looking forward to this show....we love Demetri Martin in Big Bang Theory, so we assumed he'd be funny live on stage. We read that he plays multiple instruments, does amazing impersonations and has won awards for his stand up.....we just didn't get all the hype. He didn't do any impersonations, barely played the guitar and honestly, he just wasn't very funny.

Excellent show, entertaining from start to finish. He brought the sketch pad, played the guitar with the harmonica, and told lots of great jokes. Classic Demetri, thanks for the wonderful show. My wife had never seen him before and was completely entertained, she didn't want the show to end.

The warn up comic was terrible but Demetri Martin was great. The location of the show was changed and we only found out at the event. Many people had the same experience and had the same seats and great confusion resulted. Many of us had to get out of our seats and turn our original tickets in at Will-call and get new ones. People were still getting the seating sorted out after the show started. Our new seats however were as good as what we had bought on line.

One of the few comedians that just tells jokes. No politics or other junk. Just funny observations about the world. Highly recommended.

It rained that evening, so HoB opened the doors early, which was nice. The show started a little after 8pm, and Levi MacDougall began his set. He started out strong, but he plateaued early on, so it seemed like he never reached his full potential. He had some solid jokes, but his energy just never peaked. He was a former writer for Important Things with Demetri Martin, so I was slightly disappointed that he didn't have more hard-hitting jokes. Demetri follwed Levi's performance, and of course the room burst into cheers upon him entering the stage. He could have stood still for the entire set, and he probably still would have gotten never-ending applause! He made a few jokes and told a few stories, and then he pulled out the easel and did his game Good, Bad, Interesting. That was hilarious, as usual, and he did a little more of his regular stand-up before grabbing his guitar and harmonica. If you have listened to his recorded shows, you will recognize maybe a handful of jokes. He has adjusted a couple to make semi-new material, and some he left as classics. I'd say his performance was close to an hour, and it was satisfying, but of course you could watch him all night and never get tired of laughing! There wasn't the same aftershow chaos that you normally have with music artists, so my friends and I waited with maybe 10 others outside the door Demetri would exit from. Luckily, we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes for Demetri to come outside. He was very sweet and very meek compared to his onstage presence. He was extremely patient and made sure to let everyone get their photos and autographs. I first just took a photo with him, but I hurried myself out of consideration for him and the other fans. He stopped me as I walked away, asked my name, and shook my hand. That was such an amazing gesture, as he could have easily just moved on to the next person. My friends went next, and that's when I remembered that I never got his autograph. I passed up something for him to sign, and he did what I haven't seen a celebrity do in years- he included my name beside his signature. He's the epitome of what every celebrity should be when doing meet-and-greets! No outrageous VIP prices, no herding fans like cattle- just a nice guy taking the time to appreciate each individual fan. I would definitely recommend seeing this show if you're a fan of his comedy! One word of caution: If you're planning on bringing children/teens to the show, you will hear quite a few f-bombs from Demetri. He doesn't really make obscene jokes, but he doesn't hold back the dirty words.

Demetri Martin is always a good time. This was almost all new material since his show 2 years ago.

Performed for an hour-and-a-half. He was great! Kept the audience in stitches the entire time. I can't say enough good things about Demetri Martin's stand-up. If he comes to your town, you must see catch his performance.

My 13 year old daughter made a bucket list last year. On it were things like climb a random tree out of state and touch Demetri Martins nose. She had a phase where she took pictures of her touching school kids noses and when Demetri's show was on TV she said "I need to touch his nose but he'll be OK with it because he always makes fun of it anyways." She loved his show so I promised to try and help her with this task. I bought 2nd row center seats for her birthday and told her perhaps making a sign asking "may I please touch your nose?" would work. He read the sign almost immediatly and said.. "I don't think interupting the show for that makes sense" then talked with her from stage. After the show we tried to meet him and sure enough he came out. When Olivia explained her list he was happy to let her. Thank you Demetri..

The venue was awful, my seats were terrible. The air conditioning was broken in ye tabernacle so it was sweltering. Yet the show made all of these things kind of disappear! I had a great time. I liked the way Demetri incorporated details about Atlanta and about the audience into his jokes. Was even able to meet him after the show, really nice guy. Wouldn't miss it if he came back!

As this is an EVENT review, not just a review of the performer's material, I must say that I had an okay time listening to excellent comedy at the Wilbur Theatre. Martin, despite starting 25 minutes late, stayed on stage longer than any other single stand-up I've seen, and I've seen quite a few. His material was fresh, and when he did tell an older joke, he didn't try and make it seem like he wasn't aware of that. The reason I gave the event just three stars is that the Wilbur Theatre was a virtual oven. I was wearing short sleeves and was roasting to the point I wanted the show to end just so I could go outside. Obviously they knew this too because they kept the doors open to the point where Demetri Martin actually joked about one of the few times an emergency vehicles' siren could be heard. When they charge over $50 a ticket, I am entitled to a climate controlled facility.

If you like his CD's or TV spots, you should really see him live! It's even better, he is totally hilarious, and I really liked hearing his newer material.

Seeing him preform was amazing, the best show I've been to all year, hands down. I was constantly laughing. He took requests for favourite jokes and questions.

I've been following Demetri for years now, and i was a pleasure to finally have him come to Denver. He is a hilarious comedian, and not only that, but such a people person. After the event I was able to meet him as he was coming out of the stage exit. (Nothing creepy like stalking, I promise) He stayed around and signed autographs, talked to us, took pictures with us, and told us stories. This is what makes a celebrity even better. To show that he actually cares for his fans is amazing.

I was already a fan, but it was great seeing him working out new material. He took requests and questions from the audience. He's a sweet man too, my friend and I got to meet him after the first show. -very polite. I love that in a man.

I had never seen Demetri live before. Only his Important Things show on Comedy Central. Since I took my 12 and 14 year-old kids, I was a little worried his live show might be too "adult". However, with the exception of several "F"-bombs expressing personal frustration, his bit was generally the same as his TV show. The guy has a fabulous comedic sense of observational humor and I was happy that his material was all new stuff. He saved a few classic bits for the end...most of which were called out from the audience. It was great to finally have the opportunity to see Demetri Martin live - and it was definitely worth the money and the short travel we took to get to the show. He had a lot of great new material - new jokes, new songs, and new sketches - but also told some familiar jokes and performed a song from his show, "Important Things." It was fun to be able to hear the old jokes live; he's a great performer. He also brought out the famous Large Pad which is never a let down. I went with a group of friends for my boyfriend's birthday and it was a great gift for him, and I know we all have awesome memories from the show. We're hoping he comes back this way again soon because we definitely want to see him again. Great show!

I have seen a lot of comedy shows and this was by far the best. He had me laughing the entire time! I was very impressed because he did all new material and then did old favorites at the end. The show was also over 2 hours long. He did stand up, guitar jokes, keyboard songs, and large pad jokes. It was truly, the funniest show I have ever seen and I would highly recommend it to anyone! Loved Dimitri Martin!!! He is a smart comic, great material and delivery. His act is clean which I really appreciate that he can have funny material without trying to be very dirty. My husband, son and I all loved his show and were laughing non- stop. I see a number of comedians each year and he is a top headliner and should be more of a household name.

If you're a fan of Demetri Martin you'll enjoy the show. The venue was fantastic as well.

Demetri Martin was hysterical - excellent show! It follows the same format of his televised comedy specials - jokes, drawings, jokes with guitar accompaniment. Very dry, subtle sense of humor. If you go to the Wilbur Theater, be sure to get a seat on the floor level, as the theater seats higher up have NO leg room and are incredibly uncomfortable.

Demetri martin was SO FUNNY! This was our 2nd time seeing him at the Wilbur. Seating is tight and sight lines can be tricky depending on where your exact chair is placed. Worth the $$ for seats downstairs. Would see him again and again!

I had great seats, MainFloorRight but what they didn t tell you until the day of event was that they were filming the show. That being said, my whole section had this very large Camera attached to an arm go up and down for the entire show. Very annoying, it would block most everyone s view in that section. Demetri Martin was great! He s a funny comedian and he came out and have the ppl a little extra after the encore . I have no photo to upload, since they were filming you couldn t take any photos.

Great show! Loved it! Dimitri Martin is one of the few comedians who you get twice the number of jokes because they are all on a short delivery. Which gives you more material in the same time frame. Comedy Value.... packed into one night. And for the most part, his observations of our human existence is already priceless. This show did not disappoint! He was practicing for his upcoming Netflix special. Which we, as an audience, got to hear some new work that he was still testing. Somehow this look behind the veil of how a comedian creates added to the experience of the evening.

I m fairly certain Demetri Martin is a scientist from a nearby planet sharing his insights with us after studying both human and squirrel life. My son has not stopped reciting him since the show, practically memorizing every joke uttered. Absolutely go see Demetri, especially if you want a skewed view of our world. PS Demetri, got your latest book on Audible - I didn t understand any of it!

I've been a fan of Demetri Martin since his show on Comedy Central. I had seen one of his stand up specials, so I kind of knew what to expect when my wife and I saw him at Center State Atlanta on November 3. To say my expectations were shattered would almost be damning Demetri Martin with faint praise! First, his warm up act, Greg Fletcher (?) was rather amusing. He put the audience in the right frame of mind for Demetri. Also, the wait time between sets was less than two minutes! We really appreciated that. Demetri then did his set, which was over an hour long! The jokes came with an almost frenetic pace that, if one joke didn't land, the next one certainly did! So many funny jokes in the show that I could only remember a few clearly (but I won't repeat them because I don't want to spoil it for everyone). Some jokes were accompanied by his drawings (which the audience loved) and a couple of vamps on the guitar. One caveat: Demetri is going to tape a new special next month. He may be testing out new material for pacing, which will require him to (A) look at his watch every 20 minutes and (B) refer to cheat notes on a stool. But do not let that stop you! If you love to laugh, go seek out this show!!

The show was hilarious and fantastic. Would definitely recommend to friends. Regarding the listing/venue- the show was listed at 7:30. We assumed that was doors opening time, so we were late.

Demetri Martin was very very funny overall, however, the show was way to short. There was an opening act, then he came on at 8:00 and was done by 9:00... I thought he might run a bit longer. Also he didn't do any of his funny drawings or multiple music instruments. Only stand up then about the last 10 minutes with the guitar. Don't regret going but wish he did more!

It was a great show. I was laughing so hard I couldn't stop crying. Anyone who is a Demetri Martin fan must see him in person.

I've always liked Demetri's humor. Intellectual, irreverent, with curveballs. He's a young Steven Wright. This show had the vibe of a comeback. A few jokes were flat but most were very funny. I wish he had made some charts.... but in a large venue I guess that's impractical.

To preface, I had seen Demetri Martin 4 times prior to this show. For exactly 1 hour, he seemed like he was going through the motions. His shows usually feel light and fun but you got the sense he would've rather not been there. It wasn't the worst show ever, as the jokes were still good, it's just that the performance was substandard.

Hands down favorite comedian! So witty and original

Opening act was a tiny bit boring at first but then he turned out to be really funny. Demetri came on right away and had an killed it. I would definitely see him again.

Unfortunately, this long awaited show of Demetri Martin was not funny. We walked out after his being on stage for about a half hour. The opener Levi MacDougal was even worse. I don't think Demetri has what it takes to hold a venue as large as the Balboa Theatre in San Diego. On a different note, the large bang that hangs in front of his eyes is distracting and annoying as he continuously brushes it aside.

Dimitri did a great job and was on stage for a good amount of time. The opening act was fun as well. I was hoping that he would have done some of his drawing bits, but surprisingly, he left them out.

He is very funny. I came in expecting to see one of the best living comedians. I no longer can rank him up there, as he may not be capable of this work any longer. Maybe the problem is his insights were so impressive that breaking away from them to new ones was too much, or it led to too great an expectation from audiences and himself. Much recycling of ideas, a few things simply reused, some new stuff that was not strong, and some new stuff was. I'll wait until he feels ready to record, or if he tours with a roster. Think he was willing to do an encore.

The time went way to fast. I was very sorry when it was over. Those 2 hours went very fast. His jokes are relatable, hilarious, and unforgettable! I can't wait until he comes back!

I had seen Demetri the last time he played the State Theatre and was a fan of his Comedy Central show so I may have had unreasonable expectations for this show. It didn't seem like the audience was as engaged as he would have liked. Many of his new jokes had the same setup as his old jokes but with different punchlines. No encore. Short show.
