Great to see Patton in WDC on March 3rd. Some of his material was new, some we had seen before on Conan and the NY times article late last year. Some of my favorite bits were when he interacted with the audience in the front couple of rows. You never know what you're going to get and it speaks to his improv skills.

My son is a 15-year-old stand up comic so we couldn't miss this show. It was like a fan getting to run the bases at Fenway Park. Here's my son's review: Mike Drucker was the opening act. I'd never heard of him before, but he was really good. Doug Benson them came out, and was funny....and high, as usual. Then it was Brian Posehn. Brian told fart jokes for 25 minutes. But they were high quality. And then, Patton Oswalt came out and did about an hour of really good, new material. It was a great show.

Oswald & his opening act were hilarious! I appreciate it that he pushed the envelope for the Atlanta crowd. He bashed the Bible Belt with style. I love the cozy little venue of The Tabernacle in Atlanta. It is just perfect for comedy.

It is important to note that this was a Patton Oswalt & Friends show. Meaning most of the focus was on the friends. Most of these were young up and coming comedians. Most did well although some fell flat on their face and failed to entertain anyone. However, the last act before Patton, Todd Barry delivered a set of new material which was quite entertaining to old fans and first timers alike. As for Patton, he delivered about 45 minutes of new material followed 15 mins of tested previously performed material. An acceptable amount seeing as this material was only about 6 months old and worthy of retelling. An enjoyable evening by all means. However the venue leaves much to be desired. Well in location anyway. This venue is barely accessible by car as parking is near non-existant in this under gentrification neighborhood. Metro access is availible but requires at least three line changes from virginia. A bit of a hassle for a weekday night. Patton's appeal has always been stand up for nerds and geeks. I don't need to see him in some trendy inconvienant hip part of the city

Opening comedians were a lot more entertaining than we thought they'd be. Figured I would be tolerating it while waiting for Patton to come on. Not the case! All the comedians were just as (and at times even more) entertaining while the acts were all current. I'd never seen or heard any of the material before. It seemed like a lot of jokes were off the cuff which is always more entertaining even if its not true. Wish Patton went on for just a little longer (was just over a half hour) but in all fairness it was a comedy festival and not his special show.

Before I saw the show, I liked Patton Oswalt just fine and thought it would be fun to go. He was funnier WAY beyond my wildest expectations. He covered so many things... from challenges he faces raising his daughter to his unique interpretation of "The Little Drummer Boy." I left feeling so upbeat... the laughter was good for the soul - especially during these turbulent times (of wacky election results and holiday stress). His time on stage was up far too soon. Hope he comes back to NC again!

Oswalt only had 2 tour dates, and Raleigh was fortunate to be one of them. The other is, unsurprisingly, LA. He did new material, and a lot of crowd work that was awesome. He also did comedy surrounding the grief over the loss of his wife and the difficulty in raising his daughter alone. It doesn't sound like it would be funny, but it was--and touching. Good comedy moves the audience through several emotions, so that the laughter at the end is cathartic. He did that wonderfully.

Patton came out for a 100 minutes set in Raleigh after his opener finished a 10 minute warm up. Dealt with Trumps and the elephant in the room (Michelle's passing) but much of the material was spontaneous and improvisational with the audience - at least a third of the show (with varied results). That said, Patton was everything we know and love already - genuine, human and witty. Using laughter to get over life's tragedies isn't new, but Mr. Oswalt has perfected itt. Bravo!

Patton Oswalt is a comic genius, and you should see him whenever you get a chance. This tour, however, showcases his ability to wrest comedy from tragedy. If you had to sum up the theme of this show in one sentence, it would be: Never give up.

Patton did a great job telling funny stories, jokes, and interacting with the audience. For a guy who lost his wife this past year and still make others laugh and forget about their problems is unbelievable. He is one of the best comedians today.

The content of the show was good.. I did laugh. However, he was late. He only did a half hour set and no encore.. I know we are supposed to cut him some slack due to the problems in his personal life. however He read from notes the whole time.. Every time he changed subject he had to use notes.. I dont expect that from a professional, using notes.. So overall, the content was good but dont think it was worth the $$ and I dont think for less than a half an hour, I will spend that kind of money again on his shows

We love Patton Oswalt. That being said, 3 days after the presidential election may not have been the right time to see him perform. 90% of his performance was politically inclined. Some of it was funny, some of it was not. It got to be too much. Really would have liked to hear some other jokes and stories. Would still go see him again though.

Show was ok. Patton seemed a little off his game compared to his typical performances. It is to be expected considering his personal issues, but at the same time when you are used to seeing him perform at a certain level and then see him refer to his one-sheeter throughout the set to keep him on track, and then closing with used material from older sets, it takes a little bit of professionalism out of the set. Having said, I would love to see him again, I just think it might take a little more time for him to get back on his feet with the personal side of his life before he's able to put forth an A-game set that he's capable of giving to his fans.

We bought tickets long ago before the election. He's a huge Hillary supporter/liberal and he wouldn't shut up about it. It was like watching a big baby on stage. Then when he finally switched gears to his own comedy, he was so distraught over the election he couldn't focus. He even said that himself! He wasn't funny either, his jokes were all about his kid or very awkward long stories about life after his wife's death to get to one punch line. It was a very disappointing show.

Oswalt made comedy gold out two tragedies: Trump's election and his wife's recent death. What i like about Oswalt's style is that it relies on a narrative structure--a connection of stories--rather than a series of mere jokes. I't like sitting around the campfire with a crazy funny friend listening to stories. I also like the emotional connections his comedy makes. Laughs, it seems, can come out of anger, joy, and pain. There is nothing banal about Oswalt's wit. It's side-splitting, which is still the most important thing; but beyond that, it's smart and heartfelt.

Reminder to myself never see a ultra-liberal comedian after a conservative wins an election. Not funny at all. You would think Patton would have put his political beliefs aside and put on a comedy show but not the case. He was crushed by the election and we all suffered. I want my money back.

I first listened to Patton Oswalt's stand-up two summers ago while I was out of work. At one point my roommate came into the living room and told me that he had never heard me laugh that hard, so I wanted to see this guy just for that. I am also a huge fan of comedy that is different or cathartic in some way (Mike Birbiglia's My Girlfriend's Boyfriend comes to mind). When I heard that Oswalt's wife had died, I immediately figured that when he was ready to perform again, that would be an excellent show. I did not expect it to be only about a half a year later, so I snatched up these tickets as soon as I heard about the show. It was pretty much exactly what I was hoping it would be. Oswalt did a solid half hour of his typical stand up. This was all new, really strong material. And then he segued into material about losing his wife. I found this material so interesting, and somehow so funny at the same time. I hoped that Oswalt would be able to straddle this line, and boy did he deliver! I took one star off because he closed with a bit off of one of his previous albums that I had already heard. It is a great bit, and anyone who is not a comedy freak like me will not have heard it before.

Mr. Oswalt first live show after having such a tragic event was damn impressive. Each person deals with tragedy in their own way and for some that way is to sometimes turn to humor because otherwise we'd drown in it all. His stories, that he was able to share so soon (it will always be too soon) after the death of his wife were able to show what an amazing woman she was, how life is utterly unfair, and yet still trying to find some humor in the damn situation. You cry until you laugh until you cry and repeat cycle.

I went to the Patton Oswalt show for my birthday and it was a wonderful show. I knew going in that Patton had suffered a devastating lose and also knew from his previous comedy concerts that he doesn't shy away from tough personal topics. That being said he still brought an amazing amount of humor and positive insight to the dark moments. He also did a great job connecting directly with the audience for lots of laughs. Great venue to see a comedy concert too with just the right audience size to give the laughs volume while still feeling intimate.

I've been a fan of Patton Oswald for years - he's done great indie black comedies and films like Young Adult as well as his WONDERFUL book Silver Screen Fiend.. More recently, I've thoroughly enjoyed his insightful tweets. I knew part of the show would be about the horrifically untimely loss of his wife last year. While most of the show was stand up including a great bit interacting with a group in the audience that was completely unscripted (he's at his best, I think, when he's thinking on his feet) there was a portion about grief. It was right on target and not morose. I applaud folks who are able to publicly talk about things like depression and grief and death and dying. It somehow all worked in this format. Opening act was also fabulous - can't find his name anywhere! Don't miss this show!

Patton is a sharp comedian with his finger on politics, nerd culture and smart observations. Even when recovering from a cold & on Dayquil, he's quick on his feet especially when interacting with the audience. He also addresses losing his wife almost a year ago. Brave and unapologetic, it rivals what Tig Notaro did after her mom died and her cancer diagnosis. Not that it's a contest whose tragedy is worse but when comedians face hard experiences and bring it into their shows in an honest and almost vulnerable way, it gives all of the surrounding material more weight and I as a fan appreciate that performer even more.

Patton Oswalt did not disappoint. He was friendly, inviting, and absolutely hilarious. His opener was incredibly funny as well. We got a hotel room at the Park Plaza and it was only a five minute walk from the Wilbur Theatre. The only downside was that the the security staff was actually quite rude. We were rushed through the check-in area and there weren't clear instructions on how to get our IDs checked so we could grab a drink before the show started. It's their loss! He told jokes. I laughed. The theater, as always, was beautiful. The guy in front of me clapped and roared too loudly to every joke, but thems the breaks.

I laughed so hard I cried. Something about how he tells a story/joke just kills me.

It's was a good routine start to finish, his way of telling life stories and making them hilarious but with intelligence is always genious. It hurt to smile for the next day and a half.

Great show. Patton was hilarious. My group laughed the entire show. Just a great stage presence and I can not wait for him to come back

Patton indicated he wasn't feeling a 100%, but the show was exceptional from start to finish. Lots and lots of hard, out loud laughter. I have seen him 4 or 5 times and thought he was as good as I have ever seen him.

The show was a five, hands down! The reason I set it to a four because the venue would not handle the insanely drunk individuals that were ruining the show for the mildly drunk individuals.

One of the best comedy shows I've ever been to. Patton was hilarious & really on his game. He even handled the super drunk fools in the crowd without missing a beat. Can't wait to see him again! Myq Kaplan the opening act was damn good too.

Patton Oswald was a horrible comedic show. Rarely received laughs. My favorite thing to do is to go to see comedians. Patton, was boring, slow, uninteresting, without wit or comedic timing, etc. I would never recommend his show.

The Fox Theater is a very quaint but comfortable theater and it allows a very intimate atmosphere. The opener wasn't all that funny but Patton was a riot as always with completely fresh dialogue! I always recommend Patton and would recommend this venue too!

Patton Oswalt is one of my favorite comedians and he reminded me again why last Saturday night. I had not heard any of the material that he performed before. I hope to see him again someday.
