The band never disappoints. This particular show was special because of the anniversary of Villains, and the new venue. There was so much energy going back and forth between the band and the crowd. I don't think there was one person that wanted this show to end. I can't wait to see The Verve Pipe play 20 Monroe Live again!

The highly anticipated return of The Verve Pipe to Grand Rapids in a large venue setting did not disappoint. From the first chords played from the first song off their highly successful album "Villians" to the last song of the evening, this band was tight and spot on. The band fed off of the energy that the crowd was giving and it was a win for everyone in the building that night. Bottom line it was a phenomenal experience in a great concert venue, 20 Monroe Bob!

Granted there weren't a lot of people that attended this event. The way I look at it, they missed out and my wife and I reaped the benefits. Three bands played. Forgive me for not remembering, but the first band was headed by the lead singer who also happens to be the Golf-Pro at Mt Airy Lodge. They were very talented and welcoming to the audience. The 2nd band, Eternal Staircase? Not sure of the name, but man! That band and especially the lead singer put so much heart into their performance as did the last band, The Verve Pipe. They didn't care if they were playing a stadium-filled crowd or the small amount of people that were sitting in the venue at Mt Airy Casino. I would DEFINITELY pay to see ANY of these bands again. Bravo to all 3 bands!

I really enjoyed this show they came out of the gate with Cup of Tea and kept it going. They did a really nice job weaving in new material with the songs everyone wanted to hear. I seen them many times, and I always think I'm not a real big fan... But then at the show I'm amazed at how many of their song I know a really like. I also enjoyed the new material. Brians voice is still amazing and the band is great!

Is it just me or did The Verve Pipe sound BETTER than they did 20 yrs ago ?? Not sure how that's possible, but I'm predicting an epic comeback if they go on tour with new material and sound as good as they did in Grand Rapids. Always entertaining and never offensive. They did the hometown proud !!!!

Nothing is better than seeing children rock out to the kids songs of the Verve Pipe.

Nothing was said or written to let you know that this was a kids show. We left after a couple of songs and left after others who were duped out of their $34. I never complain about anything but this is an exception and a horrible birthday present for my daughter, Sad

They were great. Yes, the kids loved it, but I also enjoyed it. They didn't do any of their non-children's songs, but they threw in a Beatles song and a Monkees song (in addition to "Ice Cream Man")

I was at Michigan State back in the 90's. Brain Stout was the lead vocals for Water 4 The Pool (loved the live performances at Rick's), but Donny Brown accounted for much of the brains behind the band. An amazing human being and fabulous song writer, and strong back up vocals - without Donny, the band would not have rocked. Love his voice --pushes it out there and makes you feel like he means it. Oh, and he knows what's going on on the drums.

First time taking kids to a concert. They are 6 and 8 years old. The boy doesn't like loud noises or big crowds. I was actually nervous how it would go. He was reluctant all week long leading up. Well, one song in and both kids were smiling and clapping. Playing the cd beforehand many times helped, as the kids new some of the lyrics. The band was amazing. The volume was perfect for kids. All the band members were enthusiastic and smiling and seemed happy to be playing for the kids. The cereal song with the guitar (don't want to blow the surprise) was great. Don't know who laughed more - me or the kids. Also, they had the kids up on the stage for one song and had to back up to give the kids more room. I don't think so many were expected! There were several more kid friendly surprises as well. You'll see for yourself! The cool thing was, this was a show the adults could really enjoy as well. It was still a rock show! We will be back next time for sure, and will bring friends with us. That's the highest praise I can give. Thanks Verve Pipe, you were great. I think you opened up a whole new musical door for our kids.

I went through high school listening to The Verve Pipe as did the people I brought to the show. The Ark is one of my favorite venues and The Verve Pipe played a great set there. I have one small issue with The Ark however... They took my ticket stub. I have kept all of my tickets to all the concerts I go to, which is round 10 per year. This was not too thrilling to me. But the show and performance was great.

We went to see the Verve Pipe an iconic Michigan band that we haven't heard from in awhile and they put on a killer show. The Ark is a really small venue so you get a real intimate feeling from watching a show there. The entire band sounded great and they didn't just put on a show but interacted with the audience well too.

I love this band. The show was amazing... please, please people...if you ever looked deeper than "The Freshman" you would know it's a good song but not the best part of this band. Their songs are well written, with complex layers, and Brian has a voice that you will recognize anytime you hear it. For example, Mark Wahlberg used a Verve Pipe song at the very end of the movie "Rock Star". As soon as I heard that voice - I knew. The new album, "A Family Album" is amazingly creative and though it's a departure endeavor - truly it is songs FOR the family... it is fun and full of hooks... It's a buy for anyone that loves great music, loves their kids, and/or has a sense of humor. Again...love this band. Everyone in the place had a great time!

Fanatsic! Who would have thought the Verve Pipe could transform themselves into a family group. They did it and should keep on doing it.

Being followers of The Verve Pipe for many years, we were excited for the opportunity to share their music with our 10 year old daughter. The music was geared to kids in vocals, but still showcased the vast talents we came to appreciate of The Verve Pipe, plus they added a horn section, which was fun. These guys are great storytellers with their music, so if you want to see and hear something simply inspiring, don't miss this show!

A great variety of songs from each album with a few covers thrown in the mix. I also met the drummer, Donny Brown, before the show at a nearby restaurant. He was very personable and a pleasure to talk with.

I was looking for an event on my birthday, something fun to do and I found this one. Five other people went with me and they were just as glad as I was to be there. They put on an amazing show, and showcased the amazing talent within the band. They have tons of energy and you can tell that they love what they do which makes them exciting to watch. I would definitely see them again. Thanks Verve Pipe for an amazing birthday!

The Verve Pipe has been one of my favorite bands since I first heard them back in 1992. They are the most underated band that I know of. Their performance on 10-10-2009 was amazing. It was a compilation of some of their classic material, as well as an introduction to their new family (kid friendly and kid -inspired) album. They made kid songs that the entire family can enjoy. I haven't been able to turn it off since we got the family album. I would recommend for anyone to pick the new cd up, whether they have children, or not. It is a fun cd. For anyone looking for great music and an incredible live performance, go check out the Verve Pipe.

The evening was a perfect mix of the old stuff we'd been dying to hear and cuts from their new project. The Verve Pipe has put out an amazing new album that stays true to their reputation of fantastic lyrics combined with exceptional musicianship, and not only will die hard fans love it, your kids will too! Unfortunately you missed the opportunity to see a memorable show, but you can ease the pain by going out to buy "The Family Album"!

Show was very good. The band was promoting a new album (hence the tour), but it was a children's album. The songs were fun and catchy, but I would have liked to hear more of their more popular stuff. Enjoyed the show very much and the sound was perfect. The children's songs were a throwback to the School House Rock series from Saturday morning television.

Truely amazing. I have long since lost count of how many times I have seen The Verve Pipe live and yet here we are almost two decades since their first gig and they are still capable of delivering a high energy show unique from any other previous performance that I have seen from them. Thank you!
