Richard Buckner

RICHARD BUCKNER IN CONCERT:Mercurial alt-country songsmith Richard Buckner is constantly reinventing his sound, moving from acoustic productions to increasingly experimental sonic territory over the course of his decade-spanning career. 2013's Surrounded is his most ambitious record yet, and Buckner has met the album's grand proportions with an equally expansive live show that incorporates material from all angles of his impressive discography. Whether he's performing stripped-down renditions of classics like "Blue and Wonder" or playing lush newer tracks like "When You Tell Me How It Is", Bucker will deliver his material with the world-wise vocals and dense lyrical imagery fans have come to know and love.BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:California-born Richard Buckner made his debut in 1994 with Bloomed, a suite of acoustic alt-country songs recorded in Texas that drew from the state's tradition of lyrically inventive songwriters like Townes Van Zandt.

A 90 minute solid set of great songs. This show was more scaled back than his shows over the last few years. He only had 3 guitars. He would actually pause between changing instruments and acknowledge the crowd. This is a big contrast to his shows of the last few years, where he's had 7 guitars, and built himself in a cubical onstage, using loops and pedals to not allow any silence in transition from one song to the next. Very nice to see him becoming a part of the performance again.
