Both Saxon and UFO are among the seminal classic British bands that helped pave the way in hard rock and metal music. Amazingly, after all these years, they still put on a great show and deliver the goods. Both vocalists, Biff of Saxon and Phil Mogg of UFO, have not lost a step. I think the UFO sound is determined by the guitar of Michael Schenker more than Saxon's is by Graham Oliver, but both bands remain excellent live bands. Kudos also to opener JJ Nichols, who's a fun hard blues guitarist somewhere between Zakk Wylde and Ted Nugent. This was a real fun show!

If you ever loved UFO don't hesitate to catch them on this tour. Really good, really fun show. Phil Mogg has a great, odd sense of humor but most importantly is still a very good singer. Sure it'd be cool if Michael Schenker was on hand but Vinnie Moore is outstanding, too. They played two off the new album The Visitor, which is quite good. This is the most underrated band ever in my opinion. Long live UFO!

The original lineup (minus Michael Schenker) with Vinnie Moore on guitar rocked the sold out House of Blues Friday Night. It was great to see another underrated band from the 70's that never got their just due come out in full force. The band is still producing quality rock most evident for me from their 2004 release You Are Here, which in my opinion is some of the best hard rock to be released in years. The "Rock Bottom" line for Friday night was that the band was in tight form and Vinnie Moore's guitar playing was some of the best I have seen in years. His playing was Too Hot to Handle.

The one thing the newer bands don't do is just go out and rock the audience out and what I mean by that is the solos in each song and UFO just rocked Vinney Moore was in a zone and Phil Mogg still can still hit the notes for somebody that is in his 60's. I seen these guys in the 70's and I thought they were even better now. I highly recommend seeing UFO.

Crowds lined around the block to gain entry into the House of Blues, Chicago on Friday night. I was attending the launch of the indie Tom Fuller Band into the spotlight. A summary of all original classic rock tunes, they were a refreshing hot new local talent - devoted to perfect guitar skills - especially after being warmed up and rockin' their bluesy tune at the end "Coffee Pot". As a new fan I appreciate too, their communal friendship on stage and relating to the audience. HOB is an amazing venue. Very fun night.

These guys are just as good now as in their heyday. Vinnie Moore is a phenomonal guitar player, and Andy Parker's drum playing is still the sledgehammer it has always been. True, Phil Mogg's voice isn't what it used to be, but the man is sixty years old. Played most of their old favorites ...... excellent show!!!

This was officially my first "rock" event. I am fairly new to the scene, as well as the genre of music. In sum, the show was amazing. The opening band rocked as did UFO. Both the opening band and the UFO members made themselves accessible both prior and after the show, for pictures and autographs. The crowd of people were extremely friendly and social. I had a blast and would highly recommend any future shows and events. -Louie

In a nutshell: UFO kicked ass! With 3 original members (Paul Raymond joined in '76, so for all intents and purposes he's an original member) in the lineup (median age: about 60) these guys play like they MEAN IT and blow most bands half their age off the stage. The set was very heavy on songs from the Lights Out/Obsession era. I'm personally more partial to the earlier material, but with a legacy like UFO's it makes sense to play material from all eras. Of course, the standards Rock Bottom and Doctor Doctor were included in the set. The set was comprised of mainly '70s material...the old stuff is what most fans come to hear, so this makes sense. Bassist Rob De Luca deputized for an ailing Pete Way, paying tribute to the man with a cool '70s Gibson Thunderbird bass and a pair of striped trousers...oh yeah, he also played a mean bass! Phil Mogg's voice was in fine form, Andy Parker pounded out the rhythms as only he can, Paul Raymond fufilled his "Swiss Army Knife guy" role on keys and guitar with great taste, and Vinnie Moore was simply incredibe, quoting Schenker's solo lines when they're essentiall parts of the songs, creating his own where there's room. Big shoes to fill and he does a great job! Still, no matter how talented Vinnie Moore is, (and boy, is he ever!) UFO w/out Mr. Schenker is kinda like a cheeseburger without the burger. Long may they rock!

UFO last song rock bottom was incredible !!! Vinnie Moore makes you think Michael Who???. I called bb kings to find out when UFO was going on and was told the opening band start at 8:30 I showed up at 9:30 and all I heard was good night from phil luckily they played an encore . I've seen UFO thru the 70/80/90's with different members and they were always incredible.

The show was really good. The band was in very good form and the sound mix was good too. My only complaint was that Vinnie Moore. strayed a bit too far from Schenker's riffs on LIGHTS OUT.Otherwise, excellent. And the warmup band TRAVIS LARSON BAND was a nice surprise.

One of the best lear guitar performances I have ever seen, and I have seen hundreds. Also the lead singer who looks 65 years old, his voice sounded like it did when he was in his 20's. Instrumentals were very tight. They played all their hits. Three encores. Audience walked out of the venue a bit overwhelmed because everyone was clearly amazed by the performance. GO SEE THEM!!!

All in all a pretty good show. The opening kid played a mean guitar without using a pick. I'm not much of a Saxon fan but I will admit they did rock! It's great to see old guys having fun (both on stage and off). It was cool to see how genuinely they appreciated their fans during the set. UFO. I was there for them. Having last seen them in the 70's at the old Cleveland Agora. I drove up from Georgia as this tour was not coming close to me and I had some local friends who were up for going too. They didn't disappoint. Maybe they played a few too many new songs and maybe at times it turned into Vinnie Moore's UFO but Phil was in great voice. Prior I had made a list of 11 songs I was hoping to hear. They played 5 and a couple that almost made my list. I'm good with that! If you are a fan of either band I would certainly say you can't go wrong with this tour.

House of blues Las Vegas great venue! I'd like to say thx to Howard and Heather for being great hosts to us. Jarred James Nicholas was awesome. A through back hard rocker with southern rock influences. Saxon was Saxon not my favorite band but good enough. UFO is one of my Favorite bands of all time specially live . Sound was off at first but they did get it mostly worked out. Set list below was "Whisked" and "Moter Mary was Added" I inserted it in where I think they did.

Loved it all! Played a 1700-seat theater in Orange County, not far from Disneyland. Saxon played a very similar set to when I first saw them on May 19, 1984 at L'Amour East in Queens, NY. UFO were very cool. Nice to see original singer and drummer. Vinnie Moore is a monster guitarist. That said, UFO should do a 50th anniversary tour in 2019 with Pete Way and Michael Schenker back!

caught them in 2011 at the same place, and they're still top notch. you get the hits, get a story or two and some great banter with the crowd - about two hours worth. only two original members, and they may not move around as much as in their heyday, but it's well worth your time if you're on the fence about checking them out.

Well, this was the 2nd time this year I was able to see Phil and the boys. I'm just amazed that Mogg still sounds so good at the age of 63. His wit on stage is famous but he keeps it to a minimum and lets the music showcase the event. Vinnie is awesome on lead and the rest of the band sounds tight. See these guys before they retire permanently. You will be happy you did!

While I don't appreciate House of Blues' standing only policy, we did enjoy ourselves once the show got going. We were fortunate enough to be able to get in the front row so we had the barrier to lean on which not only made the six hours of standing we had to do more bearable - it made for an awesome show. Mindflow opened for them and they were very good.

I flew my friend down to San Diego from Seattle and we took a road trip to Hollywood to see UFO. I drug my boyfriend with us, he had never been to a concert before because he doesn't like crouds but I thought he'd have fun anyway. He didn't that's why I have 4 stars instead of 5 because I didn't have as much fun as I could. It was really packed and hard to get thru the crowd and I couldn't get up front until the end. They sounded so good! I brought my records with me so I could get them signed by the singer. They played all their hits except Lights Out. Afterward I waited for them to come out to their bus but it was taking such a long time I went in the back door. It was open and I walked right in and met all the guys and took photos with them and got my records signed. They told some good stories. It was really fun, if they tour again I'm going to go for sure. But next time I'm not going to bring my boyfriend, he says he doesn't ever want to go to a concert again!

Great show , the fact that Andy Parker and Paul Raymond (Founding Members 1969) were in attendance really gave the show a bit of magic and professionalism ,I have seen the band with various line ups through the years, these boys deliver a presence on stage second to none ,after all these years they were able to deliver the energy and spark the band is known for. This was the second time in one week I was able to see them, both shows were equal in energy with similar set lists, for those fans of UFO who feel that the absence of Michael Shenker makes this a mock line up are mistaken. Vinnie Moore supplied a astounding display of guitar work ,coupled with a vocal performance by Phil Mogg that still puts him at the top of his game belting out heart felt lyrics that were incredible. Andy Parker and Paul Raymond ? well enough said, (thank you), My prayers go out to Pete Way in his battle with liver cancer at this time, he was missed and always made UFO what they are and stand for (a true showman), anyone who might hesitate to catch these boys live at this stage of their careers, think again they are alive and well !

UFO once again rocked the 'burgh, proving that they are indeed a great live act. Diesel was a great venue for the show, it was very intimate and the sound was great. Phil Mogg commented that he enjoyed the lighting of the show, and that it had a retro feel. (No spot lights, just the red background wall lights and some overhead blue lights.) It was like seeing UFO in your living room! The band was tight. Vinnie Moore is a great guitarist, and Rob De Luca (from Sebastian Bach's band) rocks on bass . Original members Phil Mogg, Paul Raymond and Andy Parker show that they can still rock the house. I've seen UFO 4 times now, the first time was back in about 1980. This band just knows how to rock... they're having a good time and they can deliver the goods. I recommend seeing UFO live to anyone who likes a good rocking band. They play all the fan favorites and the newer songs they play are great selections.

Hordes of people who bought cheaper seats came down to the front during the Saxon portion of the show forcing other patrons to stand up to be able to see the show and were there again during the UFO portion, again forcing us to stand to ger a view.. In the past management would not have allowed this nonsense. I have always loved attending shows at this theater ( all the way back to SRV!) but I won't be buying any more tickets for the limited time that this venue has left.

The show started late. I didn't catch the opener. I saw him playing and went to get a beer and wait for some friends. Nothing against him, I just wasn't interested. Saxon stole the show! Biff sounded unbelievably great, hasn't lost a step. The band is as tight as ever. Since it was the last night of the tour, the set list went out the window and Biff asked for crowd response to pick the next song! They played my all time favorite Saxon song, "Dallas 1PM". So much fun! This was the first time I have seen UFO. I have been a fan of their music for years. Vinnie Moore carried the show. His guitar playing was FIRE! The bass player was also energetic but it was the Vinnie show! Phil and Paul looked pretty tired and worn out. It was a small stage so there was not much room to move freely but it didn't impact Saxon! Looking forward to Saxon coming back to the States next year, I hope they hit Indy again or it is road trip time!

We ve seen these guys many times and they never disappoint. Saxon are the pioneers of NWOBHM leading the wave of British Heavy Metal in the US even before many other big players... Metallica opened for Saxon in the 80s... if you wanna know. UFO has really found a new breath with Vinnie Moore! What an amazing guitar player!!! Jared James Nichols is a great, fun blues rocker. Worth seein for sure. I usually bag the opener in favor of an extra beer or two in the car before paying venue prices but I caught JJN's last 3 songs and wished I'd seen all of them. Saxon is one of my favorite metal bands and they were real good. This was my 5th time seeing them going back to '87. UFO was great. I like them a lot, but there's really only 6 or 8 songs I absolutely love and they played them all and sounded great! Had a blast at the TLA. This was my 1st time seeing Saxon live after being a fan since 1980. The 2nd or 3rd time seeing UFO 1st since 1983. Both bands kicked ass. As did the opener . They really surprised me . Good musicianship although they did 3 or 4 covers out of the 7-8 songs they played. He reminded me of Ted Nugent which was funny as just as I said that to my wife they ripped into Ted's Cat Scratch Fever. My wife had never seen any of the bands and didn't know many of the songs except for a few that she heard me play on the stereo. To my surprise she actually liked Saxon over UFO . I though maybe the more metal Saxon wouldn't appeal as much as the hard rocking UFO. She liked both ,but gave the edge to Saxon.

Saxon and UFO at Penn's Pike. What set the stage - literally - was how stellar the venue was to handle bands of this caliber and how nice it was inside and out!. Sold out at 1900 people, yet everybody had a place to sit or stand with ease! We came primarily for Saxon, who we had seen before and we knew ALWAYS puts on a killer show. Even for them, their energy was off the chain and we could tell the band was having fun. Yes, that matters! And given they were in what appaeared to be a supporting role to UFO, their set was solid and lengthy. Bif's Vocals were as stellar as ever, as were the hard driving and perfect execution by Nigel their drummer and all of their guitarists. So happy! Then, UFO came on. I was not sure what to expect, but Phil's voice STILL sounds great after all of these years. Incredible. The real treat for us was how amazing Vinnie Moore's guitar work is/was. We both grew up Schenker fans and had lost track of following the newer UFO albums. Our favorite song of the night was one of their newest ones! Vinnie's playing is so captivating and mesmerizing. So gifted, yet seemingly so humble and happy to be there. Best concert we have been to in years. GO if they come near you! You won't regret it!

I am a big fan of Saxon and have seen them many times at BBKings. They always headline there. No disrespect to UFO, I just went to see Saxon. They did not disappoint and the mix of the old and the new had the crowd rocking. Great musicians and awesome performance. Only negative , they couldn't play any longer as they were the support group.

Truly excellent show. Opening act was a younger musician who got the sold out crowd going. Saxon then came in and really crushed it. The place was going nuts. The floor in front of the stage was SRO and packed. The booths are bar areas were full to capacity. Two sold out nights in a row with fans there for both headline bands. But the night really kicked into high gear when Eddie Trunk came out to announce UFO. they added a song and changed the order a bit Night 2. They played for 2 full hours. Truly an epic performance. All the best from Strangers plus a couple from the most recent studio album and many others.

Great show from the word Go. Both Saxon and UFO have a long history in the hard rock/ Metal world. Both Introduced by the Great Eddie Trunk (that Metal show, Reel to reel, etc..). Both delivered a full set packed with one great song after another, A great evening of Entertainment in a very quaint Joint BB King's Club in the big NYC. Two heavy hitters British Rock legends for you to see in the USA up close and personal. These guys play to Arenas in Europe, we get to see them in much smaller places, lucky us. Go catch it if you can

On to SAXON, the highlight of the night They still bring it, tight sound, great sound another great band with to little respect in America. UFO excellent they just show their age. BBKings just a great venue to see a band

Okay, let me say that UFO was great, for the amount of time I saw them. This event was overloaded for a weeknight show where people had to go to work the next day. Get it? The draw is UFO, that's who we want to see. Throwing in Saxon didn't agree with me, but if that was all there was to it, then I'd have been okay with it. But who are these other guys at the bottom of the bill? I don't want to see them, you're wasting my time. Saxon decided to do a lengthy set and UFO didn't come on until close to 10 P.M. I have to get up for work the next morning, so I had to catch a train home and miss the second half of the set. Who was responsible for booking this? In the future, an event like this with multiple acts will not get me to go.

All around great show from all! I assume that the sound and light people were "house" people since they were terrible but all 3 bands overcame that and put on a great show!

Started at 8:00pm with a local band opener and ended 12:20 AM - sheesh. The local band was pretty good and then Saxon took the stage around 8pm. Clearly ~ 60 to 70% of the audience liked Saxon - I didn't. I found them to be the type of droning and unvarying metal that I have always hated. I know they are a UK pioneer in metal - and I don't care. They truly sucked and they just would not get off the stage. Then it took the roadies 1/2 an hour to break down the Saxon drum kit piece by piece - that was exciting to watch. UFO came on at 11:00 pm and demonstrated how incredibly different they are than Saxon by playing actual songs with melodies and good lyrics. If this had started at 7:00pm I would probably be less pissed but when you have to wait three hours to see the band you paid for and go to 12:20 AM this is ridiculous.

*First of all, I don't claim to be a Super fan of either of these bands. I don't know every album, song, or lyric they do. I do like their stuff however, so take this review for what its worth.* Jared James Nichols: Didn't see. Saxon: Great show! Played their hits and then some. Biff sounded great. Will see them again. Love "Dallas 1 pm" UFO: Great show, great set list. Phil Mogg sounded crystal clear and his voice was like I was listening to his albums. My concern with him was that he seemed mentally "off" and confused. When he introduced "Baby Blue", he couldn't remember the name of the song. The next song, "Ain't No Baby", he introduced as Baby Blue. I realize he's getting older and has toured a long time, but this seemed odd. The guy next to me felt the same way. Not a criticism, just an observation. Overall, it was an awesome show. Venue: I like shows at this venue. Its small and offers great sound and sight lines no matter where you sit. However, it seems to be presented as a sit down venue with the table and booth seating on the main level. The many rock shows I've seen there, the bands seem curious as to why nobody is standing and rocking out. Start time(8 pm): Way too late for a 3 band show on a work night. Two of which are doing full sets. UFO didn't start until 11:00 pm and ended at 12:30 am. I seen a lot of people leaving half way through UFO's set. People in the elevator were making comments about the late start. Like the performers, we're old! Come On.

Saxon are a great live band, they were amazing. The Northern Lights theater is not the best spot for a rock show.Yes there is not really a bad seat in the house, but the way it is set up with seats, tables, and booths,it makes people feel reluctant to stand for a show. You can't sit for a heavy metal show, that's just not right.I didn't stay for UFO,it was all about Saxon for me.What a great show from these legends.

It's allway great to see these great band. However I think the sound could have better. It was distorted and the vocals and guitar was not clear enough. The theater was very cool and had a rock n roll vibe, and lighting was great.

I saw them Saturday night in San Antonio and they did not disappoint. A few years back at the same venue I saw Michael Schenker and I thought that would get my UFO fix done. Not even close. This was my first time seeing UFO and Mogg is 68 after all. Real good performance by Vinnie Moore as well. The whole band sounded good.

This was the BEST concert I have EVER been to! Vinnie was on fire. You can see & feel that he's loving every minute of it. He plays to and for the crowd. Schenker who? Phil's voice & energy level was amazing! He's still fascinating to watch after all these years. Andy played like he was still 25! Rob was sick but that did not affect his playing in the slightest. These guys didn't miss a beat. They played a nice selection of new material from Conspiracy of Stars, some from Paul Chapman's time and, of course, our alltime favorites. I was in heaven! As a side note, seeing them in a smaller venue was much more satisfying as they interacted with the audience which made me feel good. I wish I could relive that night every night, except for the jerk who rushed the stage, knocked me down, broke my phone & soaked me with drinks. Some superfan.

Excellent show! First time seeing them after so, so many years of being a fan and I must say, I was very impressed. Original vocalist Phil Mogg is quite the dynamic front man and Vinnie Moore tore it up on guitar. The other original members, Andy Parker on drums and Paul Raymond on guitar/keys were equally outstanding. Can't say enough good things about the band and their concert.

What a tremendous show. A phenomenally impressive band that still brings their best; this is a band that's clearly not just going through the motions. I've been a huge fan of UFO since I first saw them in 1977, but their tours didn't include stops here frequently enough in their peak late-70's years, and they haven't played here at all in about 30 years. So even though I hoped to, I really didn't think I'd ever see UFO again in concert unless I went to England, where they do tour far more frequently. The sound was good but not great, and was an improvement over the sound for the opening act. Voodoo Lounge is a nice venue, and most of the seating, including ours, was close to the stage. Would be glad to return for more shows here. Seeing these guys play live again just reminded me of how much I've missed seeing them. A message to the Voodoo Lounge bookers: If UFO is still at it in another year or two, when they're likely to put out another album, please do everything you can to bring UFO back to Kansas City!

Power, finesse, bravado, stage presence and an unmistakable sound made Wednesday's show one of the best I have ever enjoyed. A long, rich catalog of great ROCK music was thoroughly sampled and proved that their 2015 release "Conspiracy of Stars" stands up to their classic albums of the early 70s. UFO knows how to write, play and perform with energy, panache and a fiery spirit, filling the stage with swagger while forging a powerful connection to their audience. They invite you to the loud, raucous party and make sure you get all you came for and more. Go. Hear. Never forget.

I am little late with this review b/c I have been so busy, however, 2 weeks ago there was a UFO sighting at the House of Blues in Dallas Texas. Just about every Iron Maiden knows of UFO since Maiden uses Doctor Doctor as the lead in to their own intro music before each concert. I have always wanted to see UFO but there always seems to be some reason I missed them. I was well aware of their 70 s material but recently after reading a bio about the band I started listening to their 90 s and 2000 s albums which seem to come out 2 or 3 years and I was amazed at how good the material is. So I made a point not to let this opportunity pass by. A $30 ticket put me several rows from the stage to see this under rated but classic band. I have seen Michael Schenker solo but he only played 2 UFO songs that night, I needed to see this band. This was one of the rare times I have seen the HOB put chairs on the GA floor section of the venue. I was 9 rows back center stage, and eventually moved up to the 3rd row on the corner. I guess they thought the audience for gig would be an older crowd and didn t want to do the standing GA? That s fine with me, but yes this was an older crowd. I am 45 and I was one of the youngest people there. How old is this band? Well singer Phil Mogg is 65, another reason I didn t want to miss this, there might not be many more chances left to see the band. I have no problem with the older crowd but geez there many stinky old men at this gig and the seats were crammed close together and that was unpleasant. The band played most of the 70 s hits as well as 3 or 4 off of the new album Seven Deadly which is very good album. A few other songs from the Vinnie Moore era were also in the set which made for an incredible set list. Mogg still has a decent voice for his age but he moves very slowly on stage and despite still being in great shape, looked his age. He interacted a lot with the crowd but much of the time I had no idea what he was talking about. He did complain about the lights many times saying he didn t want the audience to have lights on them b/c they didn t like it? Mogg is the classic voice but the real show now is Vinnie Moore the guitarist since 2004. I can t say enough about how good this guy is. He plays the Schenker solos but with an 80 s metal edge. His UFO era material is very good, and its a joy to hear and watch this guy play. I enjoyed him the way I do watching Clapton or Gilmore. He was a show within the show if that makes since. He was very cordial talking to people by the stage between songs and he handed out at least 100 guitar picks during the show, which was cool. I was lucky enough to get two of them. Original drummer Andy parker is back in the band and was fine. Paul Raymond who has been in the band off and on since the 70 s did a solid job on keyboard, guitar and backing vocals. Journeyman Rob De Luca was on bass on was really good playing the Pete Way bass lines. I enjoyed this gig so much. UFO is band that in my mind never got its due. They deserve to be much bigger than they ever got. I am impressed how they have carried on with all the lineup changes, the ups and downs and are still touring. I wish I had seen them many times but at least I can say I saw them once, and sure hope it s not the last. UFO Setlist: -Let it roll -Mother mary -Fight night -Wonderland -Lights out -Cherry -Baby blue -Burn your house down -Only you can rock me -Love to live -Hell driver -Venus -Too hot to handle -Rock bottom -Doctor doctor -Shoot shoot

M15 Bar & Grill- First time I went to a show at this venue. When we got there you had to pick up Ticketmaster tickets at a side table out front of the venue. We had no problems my name was on the list but there were others that had the ticketmaster receipt but were not on the list and we were behind them in line. Not sure what happen but was a little hectic. We had reservations at a table in Section C and they had that reservation and took us right to our table. Which was great!!! I really liked the way they had the sections set up and you had a clear view from the stage from any spot in sections B &C. There was a food minimum to be seated in those areas but it was well worth it!!!! Everyone was very helpful and nice and we really enjoyed the evening! There were 4 opening bands and UFO didn't hit stage until 11:10pm which was pretty late but they played for over 2hrs and were GREAT... It was the last stop on there US tour and they were going to the airport right after the show. It was a very late night since I lived 1-1/2 hours from the venue but it was worth it. I would recommond seeing a show at M15 in corona and would definately recomend seeing UFO. That was my third time seeing UFO and they are a GREAT live band!!!!
