Blackstreet

Iconic R&B group Blackstreet has had audiences moving and grooving since the early '90s. Their summer 2013 concert at London’s Wembley Arena wowed fans with an amazing performance of old-school vocals. On stage and on tour, Teddy Riley, Dave Hollister, Sherman “J-Stylz” Tisdale, Lenny Harold and Tony Tyler command the audience. Riley’s silky vocal sounds lay a solid lyrical foundation over which Blackstreet’s many melodic musical layers can be built.

The show was a very good show. All of the groups performed very well and had the crowd on there feet to all of the ole R&B hits. I think that they should have had BBD close the show instead of Black Street. They should not have ended the show so soon and extended the show at least a extra thirty to forty minutes. This was really ole school R&B music.

Last night's 'New Jack Swing' concert was unbelievable!! The line-up was impeccable, Montell Jordan, SWV, Doug E. Fresh, Bell Biv DeVoe, & Blackstreet!! Each act rocked the stage as if it was 1994 all over again!!! That was the year that ALL of these acts were hot at the same time, so the mood of the night was very nostalgic...very magical! I had a glorious time and I just wish they would do more shows like this for audiences to relive a time when music was pure and meaningful. This is missing in today's musical landscape...it's sad! There were thousands of people rocking in unity to what has given ultimate joy...beautiful!!!

All in all, I had a good time at the show. When I stepped into Verizon Theatre, I remembered why I dont like going to shows there. The stage is too small and the acoustics are terrible. Perhaps it was the fault of the sound man, but all night my sister and I struggled to understand what the artists were saying. Songs came on and we didnt recognize them until a few bars in. Though I do enjoy the music of Montell Jordan, SWV and BlackStreet, I believe the show went on a little too long. But enough complaining... Despite the venue, my 2 favourite acts were Doug E. Fresh and BBD. Doug truly delivered and showed us why he will always be one of the greats of hip-hop. Doug is truly the best hype man in the business. The crowed roared as he launched into "Ladi Dodi" and "The Show". We all knew each and every word and sang right along with him. Hands waved in the air and we shook it like we just didnt care. Only in the presence of an industry legend is it appropriate to hollar "the roof, the roof, the roof is on fire!". At the conclusion of his set, chants of "Go Doug E.!!" filled the room as he performed some tongue twisting beat boxing for a straight 2 or 3 minutes. Though Doug is not traditionally New Jack, he was most definitely the better part of this show. Up next was Bell, Biv, Devoe. This was special for me because I have been a fan of New Edition since I was 9 and have followed each and every band members career, even Bobby Brown and Johnny Gill. They sang and danced to "Do me, baby", "Thought it was me", "Something in your eyes", and "When will I see you smile". The dancers were very energetic and added to the set. The highlight of their performance was when they time traveled back to the 80's with New Edition singing "Cool it now", "Mr. Telephone man", and their very first hit "Candy Girl". Ricky Bell announced that New Edition would be back performing together soon (Ill believe that when I see it). They closed their set with their hit "Poison" and the crowd went wild and danced till BBD walked off the stage. This tour is popular in all of its forms because of its play on nostalgia and it totally works. Good job, Teddy Riley! I remembered my asymetrical, my neon clothes and my penchant for biker shorts. There were a lot of "OH, SNAP!" moments when a favourite began to play. I want to personally thank them all for coming out and entertaining us here in Dallas. I had a nice time last night with a few, of what I felt were, old friends.

My advice is to go see this show. SWV, BBD, and Blackstreet are all still very awesome groups. They all are timeless. Montell Jordan's stage presence was lacking, but he did have a good sound. The Pie'ce de Re'sistance of the concert is Dougie Fresh. This man puts on a show (no pun intendended) that is comparable to NONE. If you're from the 90's generation and want to see a tour with RnB, Hip Hop, and New Jack Swing music, don't sleep on this night out.

A very good show was totally out weighed by a horrible sound system that made every entertainer except Montell Jordan sound like a screaming Rock act. If I didn't already know the lyrics to the songs would have never known what they were because the sound system was so bad and loud. Too bad. Hopefully it was just a bad evening.

The artists were all dynamic...the negative item is concerning the sound system - it did not improve until the featured artists performed. Some major improvements need to be made in order to hear more vocals & less instruments from all groups. At many points, the words spoken on stage could not be understood.

The entertainment was great needless to say my favorite two acts were Doug E and BBD. If you are 35-40 years old you would have been taken on a trip down memory lane when you were in your teens and twenties going to house parties and clubs and rocking to the sounds of the acts that performed last night. The crowd was on their feet during Doug's and BBD's entire performance these two have never disappointed me, and they give the same energy during televised performances. These two acts were AWESOME. Montell Jordan, SWV and Blackstreet had average performaces in my opinion, and somewhat disappointing because I rocked to their sounds back in the day as well. Michael Bivins mentioned hope of a New Edition reunion. As a life long fan I hope they can put aside all differences and reemerge as the great group they are. They have grown appears to be handsome, mature men and should be able work out their differences not just for the sake of their fans but also for themselves. Whenever they reunite, for whatever reason it's talked about for days. For example the reunion to honor the Jackson Five during the BET Award Show, that performance is still being talked about. They are truly missed and were meant to be performers. New Edition MUST reunite for themselves and most of all for their FANS. No one can rock a house like Doug, the crowd went bananas when Doug took the stage. I danced, rocked, rapped and song along with so much enthusiasm I was sweating bullets and refused to take my seat even with 4" heels on. All I can say is, " AIN'T no party like a Doug E Fresh party". Can't wait to see New Edition back together.

Overall the concert was great. BBD, SWV, & Blackstreet did their thing & had the crowd up & dancing to the throwback hits from the late 80s & early 90s. It was a great performance!! But the highlight for me was Doug E Fresh. How is he still going, & going, & going!! I was so hype during his performance. He killed it for sure! His performance rocked the crowd. This was the best party I had been to in a long time!!! Loved it hands down! And I would love to see him again! You don't want to miss it!

Overall the concert was good. There were technical issues with microphones, etc with BBD and Blackstreet. Do to that, they should have gootten to perform longer. also, I loe Blackstreet, bt they should not have been the HEADLINER! DOug E Fressh or BBD should have taken that spot. The crowd should leave hype once the last group has performed the last song and that did not happen. I will be at the next old school concert!

This was not a good event. The talent assembled sounded good, but a few problems made the event a failure: The main, act, BBD, had sound problems and their voices could not be heard. Montell Jordan and SWV did not have bands, so their performances were lackluster. Blackstreet, which on some materials were advertised to appear, did not appear.

Loved the artists, it was a great throwback. Downfall for me was the crowd. People were smoking weed inside the arena, there were some kids smoking cigars in rows right in front of me and acting fools. If we were outside and not so contained, it might have been better. As much as I loved the artists, I wouldn't recommend.

SWV sounded great-they've still got it. 112 sounded terrible and had a laughable stage show. Blackstreet can really sing, but Teddy Riley ruined their set by hogging the spotlight for way too long. He should have had them sing the songs he wrote/produced for other artists, instead of doing that Roger/auto-tune thing, which was awful. Missed After 7 & Shai, but they HAD to have been better than 112 & Teddy!

I gave mine 3 starts because who ever was in charge of the sound didn't do the best job! The vocalist sounded so loud that it was piercing and by the end of the show (well not sure if it was the end we left early cause of it) I had a headache. Talking to the other 8 people we were with they also said the same thing. A few times there was even feed back from the mic. Sounded amateur and not professional. The DJ sounded fine...First time I ever heard something like that and we go to concerts mostly in San Jose but it's like 5-10 a year!

Let me start off with the crowd was bomb and had a lot of energy. We had the Oracle arena rocking with the baddest Dj. He kept the crowd entertained and never a dull moment. The atmosphere was as if it was a party/concert. All the Hot Winter Nights performers were great and sounded so good as if they were the CD. Nevertheless each performer gave their all and energy. Especially enjoyed each group sung all the favorite songs and did not short change us the audience with either a 1/2 a song or the remix it was the real deal. They were on a tight schedule but they got it all in and i loved it. Thank youi will say this was one of the better concerts i been to in a while.

Let's start off with El Debarge not showing up for the concert. This is the 2nd time I went to a concert that El Debarge was suppose to perform at and he was a no show. (Kem @ NJPAC). Black Street was good and the special guest were good too. I wish Dave Hollister would have done some of his solo songs. Now the part of the show I was pissed at is having to wait an 1 hr for Guy to come on stage. Teddy Riley not coming out with Guy doesn't make no sense. This the 2nd time he was a no show during a Guy performance. The first time was when Guy opened up for Babyface @ Madison Square Theater. I wasn't the only fan that was disappointed that Teddy Riley didn't come out with Guy.. Don't promote a concert if you can't provide the full attraction.... Out of 5 stars it gets a 3

First of all, it started over an hour late. Tacky !! Once it began, it was fine. BBD turned it out ! By the time Blackstreet came out, they started turning the lights on. This was a very good show once it actually got started. Unfortunately, we had to sit and wait because the show started and hour late. Because it started late, each act had to shorten their set. I loved this concert. Each show was better than the one before it...not to take away from each group. But the show was exciting and full of dancing and interaction! The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the parking and police that were directing traffic. They need more than one enter for cars. We were in traffic for close to 2 hours trying to get to the venue. Although the concert started late, which I believe was because people where still trying to get in. We were only able to see the end of After 7. Open up a new entry way!

So, I thought that I wouldn't be able to take two concerts in a week. What could be better than an Erykah Badu..let me tell you The New Jack Swing Tour can stand on it's own. This is a show for those 80's-90's babies, and made you say, "Do you remember where you we're when this joint hit the charts?" From Montel Jordan's signature hit "This is how we do it" to SWV's "I'm So into You", it was a wonderful walk down memory lane. After getting settled in your seats here comes Doug E. Fresh, one of the best MC's around. He got the crowd so hype and did some new stuff. You couldn't help but sing/rap along to every cut the DJ's put on because he kept on giving you the HITS. Blackstreet closed out the show and left a lot of people scratching they're heads why..There is no doubt in anyone's mind that BBD should have been the headliner of the show. If you would have seen those women rush the stage as soon as they heard 3 familiar notes to keying up they're entrance to the stage. Someone really needs to re-consider that line up. BBD was the highlight of the tour..Song after song had that area up and moving..shoes off\u2026fingers poppin'. Bell Biv Devoe sung, danced and worked the crowd to a frenzy as they always do. The only thing I can think is that Teddy Riley is the producer ($$) of this tour and is the headline but come on "Rump Shaker" give the people what they want and let BBD close out the show from now on.

The Chicago Theater was an awesome venue! The concert however was not at all what I expected. It was very unorganized with the acts not being ready and wasting a lot of time between artists. When the artists did make it to the stage, they sang many of other peoples songs opposed to their own. This was very disappointing because I came to see them and hear their music, not the music of artists that were not there. Also it was a 'Love in the 90's tour' yet too much music from other decades was emphasized.

This concert started out with a bang and just got better!! I was a little disappointed that Next was short a member, but given that he was honeymooning , I'll cut them some slack. I was never really a fan of Adina Howard , but she put on a great show. Then Next came out and did their thing followed by Jagged Edge. All three were good but the highlights of the night were definitely En Vogue and Blackstreet with Teddy Riley!! The keep the crowd jumping!! Dave Hollister did his hit "Spend the Night" and I loved it!! I'd pay to see this show again but this time I'd want front row seating!!

The artists were as good as they were when they played in the 90's. next and Jagged Edge alone were worth the tickets.

Really great show. Adina sounded good. Next would have been better with RL but they kept the crowd hype. My favorite group was Jagged Edge and that's because I'm biased! I'm one of their biggest fans. I wasn't excited to see En Vogue initially but they sounded amazing and they had cute little dance routines. Dave Hollister, Teddy Riley and Blackstreet were perfect as the last group to perform. Teddy's music/talent is undeniable.

The Sound system was not the greatest. So basically Next cussed out the sound engineer and then it improved but i would have expected better from the Chicago Theater. Blackstreet was good but Teddy Riley took over. Overall good. I wish i hadnt paid $115 though.

I FULLY ENJOYED everyone EXCEPT EnVogue! They should just grow old gracefully. Enjoy the run they've had, but it's over now. Jagged Edge, Adina Howard, Next, Blackstreet 2, TEDDY RILEY & DAVE HOLISTER GAVE A SHOW FOR THE RECORD BOOKS! This was my very first concert and it truly did not disappoint!

I believe as a concert goer, we were cheated out of a concert. The performers were good, but they didn't sing as many songs as I would have liked. The concert was over in three hours, really with 5 performing groups/artists! I attended an R. Kelly concert with him performing alone and it was 4 hours. I have been to various concerts and this one by far was the worst. I almost thought the last performance was somebody else's concert because they were playing other songs. I totally understand he produced them but we would have like to hear music the group or the artists sing.

I enjoyed the concert. Although, I would have preferred more songs from Jagged Edge, they had the shortest time. I expected more since they were one of the headliners. Each group sound great! I was also expecting Dave Hollister to perform some of his solo songs. The way that he was listed on the ticket, it was as if he was performing solo, instead he performed the entire time with Blackstreet.

Too much talking from the MC's. Everybody singing other's music. Singing to tracks. En Vogue had a band and did well. Jagged Edge sang 2 songs I think and one wasn't theirs after announcing they had 8 albums. Next sang about 3 snippets of others songs and needed RL badly. Blackstreet saved the show and is why I gave 2 stars versus 1. I learned that I prefer single artist concerts. This is the 3rd time I've been disappointed with a concert and the common denominator of all is there were multiple acts.

THIS WAS THE WORST CONCERT I EVER BEEN TOO. FIRST OF ALL EL DEBARGE DID NOT SHOW UP BECAUSE OF SOMETHING TO DO WITH HIS FLIGHT. I THINK TEDDY RILEY PERFORMANCE WAS OK BUT HE DID NOT COME BACK OUT TO PERFORM WITH GUY. I THINK GUY DID A LOUSY JOB. I REALLY LIKED THEM BACK IN THE DAY BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM. THEY COMPLETELY FELL OFF. WHEN THEIR PERFORMANCE WAS OVER THEY DID EVEN SAY THANK YOU FOR COMING YOU DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT THE SHOW WAS OVER.

This was date Nite with my husband, my only reason for purchasing tickets to the show was because my husband wanted to see El Debarge. He was excited to see El DeBarge and I was excited for our date (which rarely happens). So to find out he was a no show was very disappointing. But dispite the disappointment the show was ok. I really enjoyed Arron Hall was fantastic he really put on an awesome show.

We sent to see 3 performers black street. Guy and Eldebarge. didnt realize it was going to include 35 mins stalling session of a DJ playing old school music in place of Eldebarge- who by the way did not show and on top of that we were not even told they would not be there and no one gave an apology of any kind. I was very disappointed with the way it was handled. Overall show gets 3 stars.

We should have requested a refund since El Debarge was unable to perform due to flight delays. We decided to stay and was disappointed that Teddy Riley only performed with his BlackStreet group and not with Guy. Guy ended up as the Main attraction for a 50 minute performance. He was ok, his brother is the stronger perfomer. Wished Blackstreet had performed longer instead or Dave Holiister! Guy's crew took too long to set up - 40 minutes!

Dj Mr.Cee got us stared at 8pm when the performance was to start. He did an AWESOME job, thank you Mr.Cee for keeping us entertained. After Blackstreet performed and Teddy brought out his special guest we waited almost 45mins before Guy came out. Although Mr.Cee tried to keep us entertain it was annoying to wait so long for Guy (the Riley bros) to hit the stage. Then on top of that El Debarge was a no show. Now we passed annoyed. I felt like I was at the club kudos to Mr Cee however I paid for a show and that's not what I received for the amount of money I paid.

Blackstreet 2 was great. Wanted to hear more songs from David Hoilster but he did sing his hit. Guy sound great but Arron performance wasn't. He didn't need to curse and then the worst is him taking off his shirt!! Why??? He was so classy until then. He should set an example for the upcoming artist. That they can look good in a suit. The surprise artist was excellent Big Bub sounds the same just like his recording over ??? years and Kemp brought it! Overall the Kings Theatre is a beautiful place I hope they keep it up

The show was a mess. Black street took forever to come on stage and sounded lousy. Dave Hollister was good, but Black street didn't sang enough songs. As far as Guy, I believe it consisted of 3 people and Teddy Riley was one who didn't perform with the Group. Aaron Hall and Damian Hall were on sstage; but Aaron kept disappearing off the stage. There was also a 90 minute delay waiting for Guy to perform. Aaron Hall performed his butt off and I would go see him again. Eldebarge was a no show. All in all, the show was a bust. Mr. C the D.j kept me entertained. He played old school music and kept the crowd alive. I would really like to get my money back! $95 down the drain.

A little disappointed with missing members from Blacksteet in addition to the numbers of songs not perform. Dave hollister was awesome just wish Teddy Riley would have allowed him to sing more of his songs would have been a plus.. Intermission was extremely long we waited over an hour for Guy to perform Mr cee did a great job with the music but some entertainment would have kept the audience engaged as folks was very irritated with the long wait.. The Kings therate is an awesome location for these event just need a better event coordinator.

If I could give the show 2.5 stars I would. No El Debarge and Guy without Teddy Reilly - who performed with Blackstreet but not Guy! Really?! Aaron Hall put on a half ass performance. The reason that I gave 3 stars is because Teddy Reilly along with Blackstreet and special guests Johnny Kemp, Wrecks n Effects, and Today were excellent. Also, Mr. Cee kept the crowd going.

First and foremost ticketmaster should be offering refunds, especially being that El DeBarge wasnt even there. Thats false advertising. Next the sound system was horrible alot of feedback from the speakers. The whole show was unorganized. Intermission was over an hour long. Teddy Riley didnt perform with Guy at all. There should of been more performers on the bill.

I was absolutely impressed with the newly renovated Kings Theatre. Beautiful, classy, clean and great customer service/staff presence. The show started at a fairly reasonable time unlike several old school shows Ive been to that started really late from the advertised showtime. Blackstreet was only two original members, my brain couldnt wrap around the two new guys(nothing wrong with them-they sang well)...but I guess all things must change. Teddy Riley= awesome/charismatic/crowd-pleaser. Dave Hollister sang beautifully and really provided most of the strong vocals. He also sang One Woman Man which was a treat. Next was Guy but minus Teddy Riley which was really dissapointing and confusing. Damon and Aaron did not let the crowd down however. Damon danced and played the drums with passion and soul and Aaron. Oh Aaron. Aaron gave a great show. His voice sounded amazing, he still had his moves and he came down into the aisles so we got a close uo look of him-the ladies went crazy. He did throw the word "f*ck around a little too liberally for this older crowd and RnB venue LOL....Im not a prude and even i was like well OK. But a great show overall. BUT EL DEBARGE DIDNT SHOW UP, and I was pissed off about that. The show ended after Guy and I was like Hunh? What? Where's EL? Not cool.

First off, There were only two original Blackstreet members performing-Teddy Riley and David Hollister... I don't know who those other two people on stage were??? They performed "Before I Let You Go" (crowd favorite) and No Diggity .. I would have liked it if they performed Joy, Botti Call, Money Cant Buy Me Love. Teddy Riley did his jam....there was a hour and a half intermission between Blackstreet and GUY. GUY only Aaron and Damion Hall--NO TEDDY RILEY.. Then the show was over... El Debarge was a NO SHOW.... No announcement.. lights came on .... Ticketmaster should give me back a third of my money because one out of three acts performed,.

The show was FUN and very upbeat! DJ Mister Cee rocked the house, old skool, hip hop, reggae, etc.! which was a great time filler between acts. El Debarge was a "NO SHOW". Blackstreet opened (thought they were the headliner). I enjoyed Teddy Riley and Dave Hollister, but was very disappointed that it was not all of the original Blackstreet members, and that they did not perform more songs. After Blackstreet sang a few songs, Teddy Riley brought out some of the artists whose music he produced (Wrecks NEffect, Johnny Kemp, etc.) and showed videos of other artists (SWV, Michael Jackson, Heavy D, etc. etc.). He took the crowd way way back. Once again, a lot of fun! GUY (Aaron and Damion Hall) performance was entertaining, Teddy Riley did not perform on stage with them. Aaron Hall "thought" he stole the show, when he took off his shirt and came down into the crowd, but at 50+ he should have kept it on lol. He rocked "Let's Chill" his voice still sounds good. Overall it was a great show....

Teddy Riley was not only an amazing performer and he kept us all engaged and up dancing, singing while having a great time, he was also an excellent host! I truly enjoyed myself. However, I was very disappointed that El Debarge did not show as I wanted to see him as well. Aaron Hall still has it and kept the crowd going as the closing act, especially when he took his shirt off and came down the aisle into the crowd. I believe all had a wonderful time and the venue is just spectacular. I can't wait until the next show.
