First time ever seeing ballet in person. It was a surprise Christmas gift for my fiancee. While she enjoyed it like a 5 year old at Christmas, I was floored. I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I have a wonderful appreciation for ballet, especially the Nutcracker. And the CSO was phenomenal. The venue was beautiful. I love that it had such majesty and character in its design. Very very pleased and WILL ABSOLUTELY be back again.

I took my granddaughter and daughter-in-law to BalletMet production of Peter Pan. My granddaughter has been taking dance for four years now and has been wrestling with staying with dance or playing sports. So before she loses interest in dance I wanted her to see at least one professional performance. Since she also loves Disney, Peter Pan was a great choice. And this production didn't disappoint. I love the Ohio Theater which just added to the fun. We all three totally enjoyed the experience. The dancers were excellent, costumes were pretty, staging was inventive, plus there were several touches of comedy. Even if you don't have a dancer in the house and never thought you would want to go to a ballet, you will enjoy Peter Pan.

Did not know what to expect from this ballet, but was happily surprised and delighted by the ballet. Came to see ballet because I love the music and was intrigued by the relationship to a medieval poem because I am an amateur historian. Pricing was good, and theater was great. Good seats all!

Coming into View/Carmina Burana: Coming Into View, very enjoyable. Only one rough patch, section of men alone, the dancing was too frenetic for the music during the solos. The pace was out of sync. The Carmina was performed well and danced wonderfully despite some bizarre and frequently limiting costume choices and some odd shifts in the music's tempo. For example, the stretchy cords at the beginning, I assume to symbolize how fortune constrains/entangles us all, could have been used for actual entaglement or something more interesting than what they were. Otherwise they were a bit gimicky. Also twice the Fortune figure and her partner were constrained terribly by her skirts and therefore half the movement hidden from view.

First rate performance. Despite the bad press, depicting this performance as to erotic in nature, it was very much in good taste and to the contrary. Whom ever reported this performance had no idea of it's breath and artistry. This was my second performance of this particular piece, once by Pacific Northwest Ballet, and now Ballet Met. The principles and Corp Du Ballet are very, very first rate as technicians and artist. I love this Ballet company and I have enjoyed every performance they have done this year. A much deserved bravo to you all, you move me and make we want to see more. The only criticism I have would be, this performance is one of those that deserves a full/live orchestra and chorus for Carmina Burrana, Had that been the case, I would have been utterly overwhelmed.

Carmina Burana is only the second ballet I've ever attended (other than The Nutcracker). My breath was taken away when the curtain was lifted - the first scene is a visual explosion! I really enjoyed the music and movement throughout the entire ballet. I'm still humming the music today.

Swan Lake was beautiful!!! The costumes, talent of the dancers, music, the story line, all made this a unforgettable ballet. I had to fight back tears at the end it was so very well brought together! I haven't been to many ballets, but I think this one tops my leading favorite of the Nutcracker!! The 2 ballet companies did a wonderful job and I have already told many family members they should go see it if it comes around again!

I love this ballet!!!!!!!!! I had the priveledge of seeing Swan Lake many times in California when I lived there. When I saw it in California it was danced by "big" named ballet companies. This was the first time seeing it danced in Ohio and I was very pleasently surprised by the wonderful, marvelous, and beautiful job that was done by Ballet Met!!! I will go see it again and again, and will tell others to do so also!!!

I took my wife as a birthday present, knowing she loves ballet. The ballet was so well done, the costumes, sets, and the collaboration of BalletMet and the Cincinnati Ballet so exceptional, it truly was a very rare and delightful experience. In the final analysis, I enjoyed the performance as much as did my wife, much to both our surprises.

A simple story well told by excellent dancing. There were no gaps in the dancing, it flowed from one set of dancers to the next. No awkward scene changes. Costumes were well done excepting the Queen. Her dress lacked inspiration. The scenery was very well done with the limited stage area of the theater. The dancing was superb. Blending two dance companies had to have it's difficulties, but the audience was the winner in that the stage was filled with excellent dancers at all times. I thought the second act was much better than the first. The buildup to the climax was palpable. Well done.

I had always wanted to see a classical production of the historical Swan Lake. I was so happy to find that BalletMet was putting on a production simply because I am within 2 hours travel time, which made working it into my schedule and finances possible. My whole experience traveling to downtown Columbus with my husband was wonderful, and Swan Lake was the icing on the cake! It was a proffessional, quality production. The talent and skill of both companies are amazing and breathtaking. At times I had tears in my eyes. The beatiful set and special afffects did elevate the performace to another level, drawing one into this fantansy world. I can not speak hightly enough of the lead Odete - just wonderful fluid motion! The whole cast was outstanding, and I wish I could have seen it a second time through. Thank you BalletMet for bringing this piece of history alive!

Choreography was wonderful--creative, unpredictable, easily advanced the story line. I especially appreciated the quick pace of the story. It did not seem bogged down in the dance as some ballets seem to me. Costumes were lovely. Some of the dancing technique was weak and distracting, but most was clean and fluid. The male lead was spectacular. Perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

I went to see Swan Lake with my 2 girls, ages 8 and 10 and some girls and moms from our dance studio. We could not have seen a better performance! The set designs were breath-taking, especially the fall scene in the opening. The long tutus and fall jackets on the dancers were beautiful. The best part was the beauty of the dancers, the athleticism of the dancers, and the stunning setting at the Ohio Theater.

I had been looking forward to this ballet for weeks, ever since receiving the flyer for it in the mail. It was well worth the wait. This was my first time seeing Swan Lake, and it was amazing. I've never seen a ballet like it. The dancers were crisp and on point the entire night and did their absolute best. From the lead dancers to the children. I wish I could go see it again. I recommend this production of Swan Lake to everyone. For one night it takes you away from the rest of the world and all of it's problems.

Lack of color other than white......The Queen only had one boring dress.....The Prince....two outfits.....Blue.....and some Awful Green & Black......and 2 or 3 scene changes.....There was little intensity.......Some woman coughed the entire time I was there when she should have been home in bed or at the hospital.....

I splurged this Christmas season and bought tickets for the family to see The Nutcracker. What a treat! My sons, ages 9 and 11, enjoyed it as much as I did. I really appreciated being able to take a family photo with a "Nutcracker" mascot outside the theater. We will cherish this picture and it will remind us of the experience. There were so many things I loved about the show. I love the opening scene when the backdrop suddenly becomes transparent so you can see inside the home. I loved the snow scene and how the dancers would throw glittering snow from their hands.

I loved BallMet's production of Alice in Wonderland! The storyline represented in the ballet was a combination of stories from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. I loved how creatively various Wonderland events were depicted in the show. Alice falling down the rabbit hole was performed under a spotlight with dancers in black full body leotards lifting, twirling, turning and other wise "flying" Alice. To show Alice shrinking and growing after drinking from the little "drink me" bottle, the dancer playing Alice stood behind a backlit screen, which made the act look like a snippet from a shadow puppet show. By dancing close to the light, Alice grew, by dancing further away from the light and closer to the screen, Alice shrank. It was a brilliant way to show that transformation! Alice's tears were long strips of light blue cloth, which quickly grew and stretched the more she cried, eventually forming a salty sea of tears in the long hallway of doors. Alice and other characters get swept into the current, until Alice calms down and stops crying. To show Alice's sense of confusion in not knowing who she is, three dancers and an actress portray Alice at once. Alice dances with these other versions of herself, apparently comforted by the familiar face. The four Alices appear from time to time during the ballet, sometimes taking the place of the original Alice for a scene. The actress portraying Alice, Heather Burley, provides Alice's inner thoughts in the limited dialogue in the ballet. I found the infrequent repartee to be helpful, especially for audience members who are less familiar with the story. Another CATCO actor, Jeff Horst, also provides dialogue and portrays Alice's family butler, the Caterpillar, the Mock Turtle, Humpty Dumpty and the White King. I thought the colorful and crazy costumes were wonderful! The Red King and Queen of Hearts had voluminous, bee-hive styled, pink hair that bobbled and bounced when they moved. Tweed lee and Tweedledum had the biggest, poofiest pants I've ever seen - I don't know how they moved with them on, let alone danced! The caterpillar was played by multiple dancers, one played his head and several others were his body. The actor playing the head wore green and black, the other dancers wore all black, except for green spiky hats which represented the caterpillar's spikes. These dancers also carried silver exercise balls as part of the caterpillar's long and segmented body. All of the characters in the ballet were easily recognized, yet the costumes and portrayals felt fresh and well suited to the medium if ballet. I thoroughly enjoyed this production of Alice in Wonderland!

This was the finest production I ve ever seen at the ballet. I loved it and would see it again and again and actually sad it was only a one-weekend run. Costumes - divine. Sets - divine. And here s another indication of how spellbinding it was ... there were 1400 school kids there at the 11 am show - they were loud and boisterous before the show and at intermission. During the ballet ... not a peep. Not a single peep! In a world of electronics and Avengers at the movies, the ballet captivated them all! Thank you Ballet Met!

Ballet Met s production of Gisele was an uplifting surprise. I had not seen a performance in a decade and was blown away with the dancer s skill level. The second act was particularly beautiful, graceful and well staged. In the first act there were too many people on the stage at times and their milling about distracted from the development of the principle characters. Overall I was charmed and plan to return.

It was a magical evening at the Nutcracker - from the greeting outside the doors by a life-sized Nutcracker, the carolers outside, and the wonderful greeters. Our granddaughters were enthralled by everything - the gorgeous Ohio Theater, our awesome seats, and the welcoming by the greeters. We found a very short line at the refreshment station before the event started. It would be helpful to have a couple more refreshment areas for intermission. The lines were very long. This 2017 production of "The Nutcracker" is a keeper. From the costumes to the talent, the vision created lifted it above the usual. Of course, some things are tradition...the owl clock, the mice battle, but others were not. The acrobatic children were a delight. Grown-up Clara brought a beauty and lightness to the role I haven't seen for a while, and the male dancers also impressed with their strength and command. Bravo to the company for a fine performance. Such a shame that so many seats were empty.

This is the most interesting performance since experiencing this in the late 1980s in the Columbus region. I have mostly been coming to this with my mother. A couple of years in the 1990s, I chaperoned a group of mentally handicap consumers (receivers) from a group called Peers Unlimited then sponsored by the Franklin County ADAMH Board which I urged the state of Ohio to reconsider support groups in the Mental Health System. These consumers would be most fascinated by this years performance due tp the extraordinary talent of the Ballet Met dancers especially elementary and middle school age children. A special thanks to the schools for arranging their studies with the prospective schools since they devoted many hours of rehearsal time despite their school study time. This effort paid off considerably. The orchestra was fantastic thanks to the wonderful Columbus Symphony conductor putting his extraordinary talents to his musicians whom he selected to perform this wonderful miracle. Conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, late Eugene Ormandy and especially the family of famous Lawrence Welk would have been proud of this orchestras efforts. Please attempt to get Public Television WOSU Channel 34 televised the reruns of the famous Lawrence Welk shows of the past 50 years until 1980 especially the upcoming Christmas show when it involved their musicians families. Also would like to have an audio CD recording for resale in a reasonable music store such as Bronners Christmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth MI, willing to pay more than $30.00 for an audio CD set due to Authenic Nature of this Musical presentation.

I can't remember when I've had such pure FUN at a ballet performance. I love modern, interpretive dance, so this performance was one of my favorites. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the percussion piece which seemed repetitive, and I found my mind wandering and hoping it would be over soon. However, the last piece was pure delight! On my way into the theater I talked with two women I didn't know, and I was surprised when I found them walking behind me in the parking garage. They were all excited because one of them had been chosen to dance on stage in the last piece. That was an experience they would treasure and share with others. What a wonderful way to spread the news about excellent ballet experiences in Columbus! I'm so glad Ballet Met collaborated with the OSU Dance Department. Let's have more of this!

I was so looking forward to this event. we parked in the Union Garage and the elevator wasn't working so we trudged down 5 flights of steps and back up huffing and puffing. Enjoyed The Johnny Cash and the second number. The third was painful to listen to- The dancers should be given credit to be able to follow that awful piece of music. My head hurt. The percussionists were amazing as thew dancers but it was like listening to Hanon finger exercises for enjoyment. Terrible selection!! We left after that racket and missed the one that was supposed to be tremendous. I'm sorry we missed it but we had to trudge all the way back to the garage huffing and puffing. Next time find a better venue.

This was our first experience with Ballet Met's Academy...it was a fun and enjoyable evening...seeing the young dancers faces and the efforts and talents they fully capable of demonstrating. We will be sure to go to any future Academy shows. Thanks so much\u2026

It was pretty good. I felt like some of the sword fighting scenes were too long and death scenes not as dramatic as they should have been. Juliet was amazing! No need for 2 intermissions-maybe stretch first one a bit...

Adrienne Benz was amazing as Juliet--I will miss her work on stage but she went out with gusto. David Ward was great as well. However, Lady Capulet chewed the scenery on Tibalt's death. Over done. And the barmaids/ladies of loose morals dancing with the townsfolks while dressed like gypsies? Please. No. Also there were some bits that just seemed unnecessary--Juliet leaves to go speak with her confessor and we see her leave her rooms then a curtain chain and she dances for a moment in front of her home - same on the return. Not needed. maybe some more of act 4 or 5 - the missed letters could have been included without all the unnecessary business. Also - the priest carries the almost poison in his pocket? He could have ducked off and come baack or even mimed taking it from a cabinet.

I went Sunday matinee this past weekend. the two who were Romeo and Juliet took my breath away. so graceful, made everything look so effortless, exquisite. The production was grand and having live orchestra was a marvelous treat. Really wonderful. Except both breaks should not have been 15 minutes long, performance became very long; long intro musically as well. Wonderful, as wonderful as I'd hoped! thank you Ballemet! we need you. nor aholt

Whether or not you like ballet, this show was entirely entertaining. The dancing was great, and the choreography of all 3 parts was really interesting. Not your typical day at the ballet!

This was a very enjoyable set of three modern dances. The first was very abstract, very beautiful, almost sculptural. The second was funny upbeat piece; I've never heard a ballet audience laugh that much! The third was a sci-fi number, with a large portion of it involving a thin layer of water on the stage, which allow for some interesting movements on the slippery surface.

All three parts of the performance were amazing. Our ballet always does a great job, and this we actually the best I've seen so far.

The show was creative and engaging, many children presented but no noise problem at all. We had floor seats and they are just as good as balcony ones. The actors put on a very good performance and the story line is clearly laid out. It a shame the music was not played real time, and it is a bit saturated.

music was too modern and not fairy tale romantic, where was the crocodile?, my kids would have been disappointed, a missed opportunity, especially to appeal to boys in the audience, should have had some words overhead occasionally to help children know what was happening, or to re-connect with the story line best idea giving the children the lights to shine

Once again we were treated to a wonderful evening by BalletMet and the CSO at the Nutcracker. It is a family tradition that we enjoy continuing each year. We're grateful that we have such talented performers in our city. We're looking forward to coming again in 2017!

As always, a GREAT show! Only downside is the number of small children at the matinee who are not able to sit still or stay quiet throughout the duration of the show. Fortunately the House Manager found us new seats away from kids. I have no issues with kids being at the show but parents need to teach their kids to be respectful of other patrons.
