His voice is haunting, his songs gorgeous, but Mark Kozelek gave a terrible performance at Music Hall of Williamsburg. He basically performed in the dark, he complained about the light, the cold, the audience being "restless." He clearly hates performing and he took it out on the crowd.

the music was great. kozelek was funny. having everyone sit was weird. thought they should've just had everyone stand for the show. the sound was good. the drink prices were good.

It was one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life. That voice...his guitar. Nothing compares to seeing Mark Kozelek live.

This show was far too serious for a Saturday night in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Pretentious, nasty people in the crowd and a boring set to boot. I never realized how crappy his lyrics are until I honed in on them out of sheer boredom. At least I got a case of the giggles which made me feel something. Seated shows at Williamsburg Music Hall? Weird and annoying. I felt like I was at an assembly in the high school auditorium and wasn't allowed to talk! Awful, awful. The only saving grace (other than the ability to go sit downstairs and watch the show from a comfortable couch) was the AMAZING opening act, Owen Ashworth (Advanced Base). Great lyrics, interesting work and definitely an interesting guy.

I've seen Mark Kozelek live four times now, and this was his best performance yet! He seemed more relaxed, and he was funnier than ever. I also feel like he just keeps improving as a guitarist, and his voice was amazing as always.

This was exactly the type of show a Mark Kozelek fan hopes for. He played for a long time. He played a few classics, but stuck mostly to new material. There was feistiness and banter. His playing was phenomenal. We loved it.

Maybe he used to be good but his show @ the Alladin sucked. One song after another that sounded exactly the same....asked the crowd what they wanted to hear after insulting them numerous times but then didn't want to play what was requested except a crappy encore cover of 'Send in the Clowns'. Glad I at least didn't pay too much for that show. Ugh.

Love his voice, love his lyrics, but his show was pretty boring. A couple dozen sad songs in a row, and none of them had bridges, or choruses for that matter. Pretty, but repetitive.

The show was great! Mark was very friendly and personable toward the audience. The songs all sounded really good to me. I didn't know all of them, but he did play a few of my favorites which was amazing to hear them live. Some performers just don't stack up when you come to hear them live, but he really does. Plus he has a very warm and likable stage presence, which is rare these days.

Great performance, fantastic voice. The dexterity and skill in his finger-picking has improved, as his songs have become more complicated to play. People sang so loud that Mark lost his focus.

Mark Kozelek is incredibly gifted and talented. He takes playing the guitar to a new level. The only only reason I'm not giving this show 5 stars is because he was fairly rude to the audience and made fun of one guy who said he'd seen him 6 times. Mark Kozelek, if you're going to ridicule the people who are PAYING to see you play, you are crazy. Be thankful that this dude respects you, admires you, and appreciates your skills so much that he's seen you as many times as he has. That being said, this show was amazing. I cried for half the show, his music reaches into my soul and squeezes...loved it.

Both my wife and I traveled from a good distance to see this show and it was well worth the travel! Mark was great and the Music Hall of Williamsbug was a great place to see a show. Sound and atmosphere were spectacular! I would highly recommend this show and venue to others. Well worth a subway trip or a long drive!

I really felt like I was somewhere else, or inside some one else's life, walking through their hallways, hiding in their attic, and sharing their memories. It was incredible.

Mark Kozelek delivered the goods during this Brooklyn show, the only U.S. stop on his way to Poland, Russia, and France.

I've been listening to Mark since the beginning with the first Red House Painters album. The first song I ever heard was "Michael". So soulful and painful and sad and touching. Their music connected with me immediately. The fullness of his vocal fills me up! There are only a few artists who's voices envelope me like a warm blanket fresh out of the dryer and Mark is at the top of that list! He is so endearing and charming on stage and shows his sensitivity on his sleeve. I'm glad that he has continued on his musical journey beyond the Red House Painters and hasn't given up on his amazing talent. I wish more people were into his music but secretly I'm glad that I can see him at smaller venues, up close and personal. Keep rockin' it Mark!

great show. first time at music hall of williamsburg. super impressed with the acoustics of the space (about the same size and set up as the bowery ballroom). mark kozelek put on a full 2-plus hour performance of songs from all over his catalog. his voice was on through a nicely reverbed mic. his guitar playing was a revelation. and his banter was fun. crowd was totally into him. toward the end of his set, he really seemed to lose himself to the songs and i felt a lucky witness. he was fully committed to sharing his brilliant songs. opening act had a lovely voice.
