Great venue, intimate experience. Good visually, great musically. If I had to do this over again, I certainly would. All the members of the group were stand alone professionals. They truly enjoyed themselves throughout the performance. The only reservations I have about this group would be to MAKE reservations. I will definitely see and hear them again. A fantastic time was had by all.

It was a great night, with a broad and delightful journey over 20+ years of Grammy-award-winning tones and brand new releases ranging from 60's R&B and R&R to long-lasting montuno and salsa rythms combined in a delightful and unforgettable way!

Right from the start we knew we were in for a treat. You just knew you were about to have a great time. Poncho and the Latin Jazz Band truely enjoy what they do and it shows in every note or beat they play. With an eclectic mix of salsa, blues, soul and straightahead jazz, there's something in a Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band for everyone. I would highly recommend seeing these guys do their thing and do it better than anyone around today. BEWARE!!!! You may actually find yourself dancing in your seat and smiling from ear to ear.

The concert on Friday, September 25, 2009 was superb. The hall was just the right size, the sound was excellent, as I sat literally in front of the sound board. All that percussion is not easy to balance, along with having the bass notes actually be distinct. Bravo! This night was an example of a master practicing. The openness and freedom the players have always comes from the leader, and it showed. The arrangements were tight and disciplined when that was called for. When the maestro had something to 'say', everyone on stage and off listened. After a life time of recording and the wide range of musical styles Poncho has mastered, the only disappointment could have been there just wasn't enough time to sample more. I said 'could' because the set list still managed that unlikely feat. If this is the beginning of a tour to support the new album, I'd love to hear that last night of the tour!

This concert was like being at a wedding where everybody is talking & dancing with each other on the floor. Thanks to those two women who helped get the dance floor going. They got my boy friend up and dancing. The music was great as usual. He did not play any of the tunes he did with Mongo Santamaria, which was a disappointment, but all the music was good.

Great venue for a very tight band. Poncho has a deep rich voice that blends well with his orchestra. The trombone player was out of this world. The timbales were very syncopated and awesome. Salsa music at its best. Enjoyed the show.

Have invited others who share my experience. Performing at the Conga Room added a dimiension that other venuew do not. An unforgettable expereince from boththe artist andthe venue, teh food at theConga room was also superb.

Poncho Sanchez took stage and set the room on fire with syncopated rhythms, dazzling drum-work, and soulful vocals. The band dazzled the audience with crisp tight accents designed to drive the Latin party themes home. My favorite part of the show was when Poncho added a salsa twist to some rhythm and blues standards and disco favorites. He dominated the show with his infusion of mature interpretations of salsa classics designed to drive the fortunate few into frenzied gyrations and pulsating sexy dance moves. Count it all joy. Poncho was Awesome!!!!!

Personally I'm not one to write reviews or anything like that, but when it comes to Poncho Sanchez " EL CONGUEREO " And his band I just can't hold back. I've known Poncho since the early 90's I was at the Village Gate when Poncho and his band made their NYC debut. This show was absolutely amazing, electrifying if you will. Every time I'm able to go catch Poncho anywhere I can, I go. I even when to see him at the Garde Arts Center in New London Connecticut. Which brings me to comment on the B.B. kings club, this is without a doubt one of the best clubs in NYC in the heart of Time Square. Great atmosphere, great staff and most of all, great acoustics. I'm looking forward in attending yet another show at B.B. kings soon. Awesome night, the only thing that sets me back is that it was to short. But Poncho being the gentleman that he is he came out and did another tune for the people. A real showman to say the least. Poncho Sanchez Y La Familia ROCKS !!!

I've been to Humphrey's twice. The first time was for an outdoor Franz Ferdinand concert. This is my second time, for Poncho Sanchez and band. It was held in the INDOOR lounge/bar. The setting was very intimate and romantic. We purchased GA tickets and sat at the bar, near the stage. The acoustics were awesome. The band sounded GREAT. Mr. Sanchez delivered an exceptional show! His sound is unique and traditional at the same time; It is jazzy but always has a sumptuous Latin salsa rhythm. Loved the venue and the performance. A+!

Poncho still has it. Both he and his band produced an evening filled with rhythm and sounds that rocked the Backstage Venue at Humphreys. One could not help but feel like dancing to his sounds and delights. He recreated music which he has played for years and added a little of James Brown, his favorite.

Very well done concert. The addition of James Carter made a big difference since I like the 'jazz' side. As for Latin music, it is an idiom that has a sameness to it that I generally stay away from. The latino sound is a latino sound.

Poncho Sanchez and the band are an extremely talented group of musicians, some playing multiple instruments. They were relaxed and fun and had a great interaction with the crowd. The addition of James Carter made it more than I ever imagined. Don't miss them next time they come to town.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed hearing Poncho Sanchez playing his congas. He is an awesome performer. His crew really worked together to bring all musical instruments to a well blended rhythm that enticed the audience. I really wished he would have played more of the older rhythms, like El Conguero....but he was awesome all in all.

I went to see Poncho Sanchez and was not disappointed. He was fabulous and I try to see him every year he comes to NYC. B.B.Kings food and service was great, it gets a little tight but Jeffrey was attentive to each and every table. We did ask for a booth since we arrived at 6pm for dinner and were not accomodated although we were willing to pay for an extra ticket. We will be back for Angela Bofield this month.

Tight horns, great solos, driving montunos/ rhythm and the intuitively interactive percussion team of Los Senors Lebron, Ortiz and Sanchez swept the audience away It was impossible not to be in the moment and totally enjoy the performance. B.B. King's is a great room that puts you up close to the band. The amplification delivered the vibes without blowing out your ears and the "sporting event" style video screens let you really appreciate the band's intensity full bore. My 16 year old daughter loved the show. The wait staff was professional, patient and did their job without being annoying.

Poncho Sanchez, as usual, was invigorating, lively and as wonderful as ever, playing mostly cha chas and rhumbas. Just at the right times, he threw in salsa and even an old rock piece. It was all just the right mix to get people to their feet.

What an incredible musical experience under the heavens. Casteneda and Sanchez are amazing musicians and soulful artists that pour their heart and soul into the music. It filled the air with rhythms from around the world. My husband and my best friend attended and we did not want it to end. What an amazing evening. Please continue in this vein of bringing in Latino artists.

He started 20 minutes late which was only excused because his band is so good. Excellent selection of tunes, plus energy level was up and stayed that way. His conga solos were syncopated, complicated jazz, not typical straight latin. Wish the performance could have had a break and a second half (translation - more playing time).
