I am wondering if FatBoy Slim's intoxicatingly addictive personal energy of sheer positivity and joy can be bottled? As far as I am concerned the man is drug and once you have understood his approach to music you are hooked for life. A friend of mine gave me a live FatBoy Slim mix and after 3 straight run trough's I fell in love. I had to see him in person, but he has not made it to NYC till last month. His stage presence is delirious... he lives music, he feels it so humanely deep that as a listener you have no other choice but to be swept into his hurricane of blissful insanity. He is a lightning jolt of freedom, happiness, creativity and above all authenticity. The man is fearlessly true to himself, unafraid of taking chances and it shows... His appearance at Terminal 5 last night proves that 1,500 people can be mobilized on a Wednesday night, but you have to be FatBoy Slim to pull it off! Terminal 5 is old club Exit and despite bad reviews I have seen elsewhere, the sound was impeccable. I did not hear a single mistake in the sound system, not an echo, not a faulty speaker, not one distortion. Perfectly proportional to the space and robust, full range sound. Pretty sure that FatBoy Slim's sound engineer had something to do with it because there was a second sound check right before he started playing. I have nothing to say about Shinicho Osawa as I only heard 5 minutes of his set, found it absolutely toxic to my ears and was happy when it was over. 10 minute pause for sound check before Norman Cook appeared on stage gave the audience the tease of anticipation and enough time to get ready to be swept away. We were all fully aroused by the time he did appear and from the first beat he and the crowd were in sync. He started with Praise You clearly paying homage to all his fans, gesticulating his appreciation of the crowd with his hands; he made it well understood that we were loved, cherished and about to be taken on a treat of a trip. The crowd was soon drenched in glow of cosmic lights plus strobe and the 3D images projected on a screen behind him gave plenty of ponderous moments. His talent goes way beyond mixing, he is a delightful energy transmitter surely connected to the spirit or cosmos or whatever you want to call it. Although his mixing is not always perfect, his creativity makes up for any flubs. He played a part of Thriller behind some jungle of beats never letting it escape into the vocal part and quickly switching to something else. His style of playing was an extended mash up if I can call it that, with high energy throughout and vocals for respite. He played all his classics: Right here right now, Put your hand up in the air, Weapon of choice, He's Frank by Iggy Pop, Rockafeller Scank and then there were a few surprises: Let me clear my throat by DJ Kool and Back to Life by Sol II Sol, which he played while dancing infectiously himself. The real highlight of his set was a surprising choice of El Mariachi song from Desperado, it was so unexpected that the crowd went complete bananas and seeing it he played it twice back to back. Hands in the air the whole night, digital camera flashes adding to strobe lights, Christopher Walken video and many interesting 3D projections, everyone singing along non stop... He closed his set with Praise You completing the circle of love and did not play an encore even though the crowd was vehemently demanding one by chanting his name. I must add that the crowd was the most cool and down to earth kind, super polite. FatBoy Slim takes the crown for originality and authenticity, I am inexplicably enchanted with his brand of delirious magic.

So I came into this show not really knowing what to expect but this performance blew me away! Nervo and Fatboy Slim proved to be a great combo, and they really kept the adrenaline going at an all-time high until the closing set. The visuals were great and both artists kept the crowd pumped up and wild with all their amazing drops. Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat!

Kinda glad I arrived late it was hard to dance to/listen to nervo. technically and production wise they have alot of skill, but they could not stick with one beat for more than 30 seconds and every 40 seconds there was another drop. Every single time i would start getting into what they were playing they'd change it and then a drop would happen. Fatboy Slim was amazing tho and he was definitely worth waiting for. Had a blast at his show.

We go to a lot of these types of event and hadn't seen Fatboy Slim before. He played, quite possibly, the best DJ set we've ever seen.

Opening set by Shinichi Osawa was absolutely amazing, a lot of great songs like Digitalism's "Pogo", "Jupiter Room" and even Blur's "Song 2" (with revamped lyrics also) ripped time and space apart! With the crowd already ignited and blasting off as a result of the raw energy radiating from Shinichi's set, Fatboy Slim took the stage and effortlessly rocketed them into the atmosphere. One of the most incredible shows I have ever witnessed, with jaw-dropping computer generated visuals dancing to the music on a humongous screen behind Fatboy Slim the entire time. to put it short, I would pay three times as much to see this same show again if I had to.

From the location and venue facilities to the warm up act , reasonably priced drinks, excellent security to the man himself - the best night we had in New York. Everyone left happy and buzzing. Awesome - terminal 5 and fat boy slim are at the top of my list for a repeat performance.

Overpriced, bad venue, cheesy visuals, poorly planned set. Fatboy Slim seems like he's still riding on his previous fame from Rockafeller Skan k. I know he's been working on some new projects ie BPA, which I like. This set however just felt dated. $50 for a ticket was well over priced, especially considering this was a wednesday night. In terms of the view to the stage, you're either too low or too high (resulting in awkward neck straining). Terrible stage presence. Sure Fatboy Slim had confidence on the stage, shining a huge cheese grill, but that's exactly how he looked; f-ing cheesy. He even spent a good song or two twirling a towel over his head and doing other dance moves you might catch your mom or pop doing at a wedding after having a few too many. He even messed up his mix a couple times. Not that I cared but the party ended 30 min early. The crowd cheered for an encore but I guess Fatboy was already on his way home to tuck in his kids or reheat the meatloaf his wife left in the oven.

I love terminal 5. I think that if a band can fill the venue, the show is just going to be good. With that said, Fatboy slim was pretty good--once he started to spin his set. Considering that the tickets said doors at 8, that he did not come on until nearly 11 with a midnight curfew on the building was really lame. And, the opening act was ok. I mean, your typical mash-up dj. And certainly no Greg Gillis. That was rather disappointing considering the exorbitant price of the ticket. However, people were dancing, and the special fx--both before and after Fatboy Slim's set--were pretty rad. I just wish he had played more stuff off the new album (especially Toe Jam)

FBS was what I expected it to be, the part of the show that was the most enjoyable was the unexpected talented opening DJ. I would love to be emailed his name if at all possible.
