Icons of the late '60's and early '70's, The Fudge recreated history on Friday, 10/16/2015. Known for their unique soulful, interpretation of other artist's songs coupled with amazing individual vocal and instrumental virtuosity, they delivered impressively. Each artist had their turn to own the spotlight and they all still have the ability leave the audience awestruck. Harmonies were as sweet as the band's name and it was a pleasure to hear the original members; Mark, Vinnie and Carmine wax about the old days, but still speak, sing and play in the now. Thank you, gentlemen for coming to MKE!

When going to see a band live who came out 30+ years ago, you don't expect a great deal. This was more than I could ask for. Not only did they play the entire Platnum album but threw in an outrageous rendition of Dazed and Confused. I went with 4 other friends who were not as much into the band as I, and they were amazed by the show. The sound was perfect, the band was right on. They did not miss a beat. In fact if you compared them to 30 years ago, I think they sounded better. They were into it more than the audience, and that is saying alot!

Being completely honest of what the night was going to offer, I bought two tickets for this gig for my father's birthday. I've seen other 'final' reunion tours and they have ended in an absolute train wreck. This was not the case with Vanilla Fudge. Aside from a few missteps, the band was in fine form, both musically and stage presence. After completing the first LP in its entirety, they went on to play other hits, importantly an insane version of 'Dazed & Confused' and You Keep Me Hangin' On.' It was great that the band shared stories from throughout the years as well, most notably when Zeppelin opened for them on their first US tour. My expectations were blown out of the water. Plus, the crowd for this gig made it a night to remember!

Vanilla Fudge were, to the best of my recollection, the first or second concert I ever saw, a show at the Fordham University gym back in 1968. Based on their performance on Saturday night (with 3 of the 4 original members in attendance), they have only improved with age. Each member was in excellent form, playing solos that would be the envy of musicians half their age, and they gave the crowd exactly what it wanted. They played their entire first album (saving "You Keep Me Hanging On" for their encores), plus a few more of their most popular songs. They were clearly inspired by the wildly enthusiastic crowd, and although this was sold as a "Farewell Tour", as they left they said they'd be back. Why I waited forty years to see them again, I have no idea, but I won't make the same mistake twice. If you get the chance and enjoy their soaring, grandiose, extended versions of rock classics, don't miss them!

I totally enjoyed seeing this show at B.B. King Club in New York City. The show was fantastic, and I would definitely see Vanilla Fudge again. Carmine Appice (the drummer) was unbelievable! For fudge fans and old school rock fans another great show by Misters Stein, Martel and Appice, three all time rock greats. Their obvious strength as a band is their psychadelic rewrites of old hits such as Bang,Bang,Shotgun, Season of the Witch and the all time goose bump maker You Keep Me Hanging On, The problem for them in playing such a small venue is that without much stage room it seems they only use about 25 percent of their sound equipment which causes them to lose some of the overwhelming texture of their psychadelic sound. always awesome , but next time ill skip bb,s and see them at a larger venue.

Vanilla Fudge is a great band - You will never see this kind of band again- re-arranging classic songs, virtuoso musicianship, great vocals. The performance and stage presence could be a bit better, but the light show was so bad, it was distracting and took away from the audience's ability to enjoy the show.

The band was absolutely fantastic. I was a little skeptical before the show as to whether or not they could generate the tremendous sound and vocals that made me fall in love with their music 40 years ago. It did not take more than a few minutes to experience all the greatness of this group, They played several selections from the first album. Most of these songs I have not heard in many years, since I wore out my vinyl album. Carmine's drum solo was something I have never seen before.

We wanted to see these two groups (I HATE it when they are called "acts"!) because they are truly rock legends. Both put on thoroughly enjoyable shows. The music was great and they sounded terrific. Several of the tunes made me say: "Oh, I forgot about that one!" We loved it. The only thing missing was that familiar aroma wafting through the crowd. :)

Even though the only original band member was Mr. McCarty on the drums, this band sounded amazing! The young guns can play, and they had the joint rocking. Lead singer had a soulful tone that made you want to lsten to more. The bass and guitarists were absolute virtuosos. Vanilla Fudge may have aged, but they were great! Their musical ability was obvious in their harmonies, and the drummer was top notch.

Kept asking myself - why are they OPENING for the Yardbirds? They acted, played like, and deserved to be the Headliners! Classic presentation of their best stuff, with many twists that were custom-made for audience participation in a live setting. I was well pleased with the authenticity of their sound and musical mission that lasted over 44 years. You show me ANY band from the 60's that are out there performing with 75% of their original member lineup, and I'll remind you that it is a delightful miracle for a rock enthusiast. So, what's not to love? Mark Stein was a showman with 99% of his chops intact, at 66 years old! Carmine Appice was a surprise powerhouse at age 68, and Vince Martell revives psychedelic guitarisms at age 69. Thank God for hair dye! The only setback to the show was the sound people... not enough volume on the B3 or many of the solo vocal parts. We missed you, Tim Bogart!

The Keswick is a small enough venue to really "enjoy" the band up close and personal. We thought that the Yardbirds were good, they sounded tight and the vocals good...but it didn't look or feel like the Yardbirds, they were just too young! The Vanilla Fudge- This is the 2nd time we have seen them and they are really a lot of fun to see! They still are the originals and they sound GR8! Really brings you back to the 60's and if you loved You Keep Me Hanging On....nobody but nobody does it better than them!

Vanilla Fudge -- fabulous! Loved them then -- loved them now. Their arrangements are extraordinary, especially the two Beatles songs and even Bang Bang -- who would have thought you could make that into a fantastic sound. When I first saw the Yardbirds I was immediately taken back by their youth and thought that they couldn't measure up. I found out how wrong I was immediately. They were great and their age had nothing to do with it. All in all a very enjoyable concert.

Vanilla Fudge has been among my favorites since their first album. And the BIRCHMERE is my favorite venue. It's small and intimate. The acoustics are good and the shows start on time with no warm-up act. Vanilla Fudge did a great show and sounded like they did 40 years ago. The only disappointment was that Tim Bogert wasn't with them on bass guitar, but Pete Bremy was very good and made the substitution seamless.

I went into this concert not expecting alot ... I wasn't sure if the original members would be playing or whether they would just "phone it in" as so many "reunion" bands have been doing. From the first notes, it was clear this was going to be great. They played the entire first LP, also songs from "Near the Beginning" and their Led Zep tribute LP (from 2006). Although often drummers are in the background in groups, I have to say Carmine Appice stole the show. Overall, the level of musicianship was outstanding and it certainly brought me back in time to the 1969 era which is special to me ... and yet still sounded fresh and relevant.

Fantastic unforgettable concert. They played their first album plus hits from other albums. I always thought that their songs on the albums were done through electronicsand gimmicks--not so--organ and guitar--amazing. the quality and performance was top notch as good as it gets. 3 original members who were all A plus plus as well as the substitute bass player. I had played their first self titled album in the 60's so much that I had to buy another copy it was so worn out. (60's had the best) They haven't lost a thing. One of the best concerts ever.

When I was 16, Vinny was my guitar teacher for a few lessons. Teaching me "Ticket to Ride", the way they did it was unbelievable. Seeing them 42 years later was a dream come true. They played all the right ones including Ticket to Ride, Eleanore Rigby, Season of the Witch and so many more. Carmine was great on the drums and his solo was spetacular. If for a moment, I went back in time, a time of my youth when music was everything and was played in ways no one else captures today. With each song, Vanilla Fudge made the crowd part of their act, got them singing into their songs, clapping, stomping, yelling, screaming for more. An extra 2 songs as the encore for the night, it was a great farewell to a great band! I will always treasure their albums, but the memory of this night will live forever! I can cross them off my bucket list of bands to see before I die! Stan P

My parents were a fan since the mid sixties and I was only able to experience them by listening to my dad's LP's. I saw them a few years ago when they opened up for Deep Purple and was amazed by their energy and sound. This time around this was an opportunity to take my parents to this show and have them experience their hits for the last time. All original members were present with the exception of Tim Bogert, due to his retirement from touring. Vince Martell looked at sounds the same after all these years, Mark Stein with his raw energy on the Hammond and what can I say about Carmine Appice. Carmine got the crowd up and singing along and what an amazing drum solo. Pete Bremy did an awesome job filling in for Tim. This is a show you must see before they are gone forever.

The Vanilla Fudge played a set of the other peoples' music that they have worked their 60s magic on...eleanor rigby, season of the witch, and of course, you keep me hanging on. Three of the original members were there and the 65 year old drummer played a 5 minute drum solo that blew me away. Having said that, this group has gone nowhere since the summer of love and could have been a tribute band. On the other hand, the Yardbirds brought only one original member (where were Clapton, Page and Beck?) but gave a rip-roaring performance of old and new music that had the crowd on its feet (and out of our wheelchairs...). They rocked the old hits and also played amazing blues. The guitarist was of the the quality of the old-timers. I don't know if I would go back for the Fudge, but I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for the Yardbirds

Seeing the Legendary VANILLA FUDGE at the Birchmere, one quickly realizes why they became Legendary. Incredible playing and incredible vocals. No one can replace Tim Bogart on bass, but their new replacement bass player did as good a job as could have been hoped for. He had surprisingly good lead and backup vocals as well. I was hoping for more lead singing from MARK STEIN, however this gave the rest of the band more chances to show their vocal skills. It's also a shame that they didn't play any songs off MYSTERY. After the show, I got to meet the band, since they were doing a signing. It was great to actually meet them.

After being disappointed in seeing so many retro bands, I had all but given up on them, but two very dear friends fr Fargo ND came to visit me, it was their very first trip to NY. I told 'em before they come look on line & see what show they might like to see in NYC while they were here. I had a sneaky suspicion they were gonna pick Vanilla Fudge & true to form thats exactly who they picked out of all the shows on Broadway etc. Sat night BB's was wall to wall w/ baby boomers. If it wasn't sold-out I'm not sure where they put people...LOL. I have always considered VF to be the ultimate copy band...there is no band on the planet that does it better than these guys...NO ONE. And they are the "kings of the intro". So great to see Mark Stein playing w/ them though I missed Tim...For me, I consider Tim & Carmine to be the best rhythm section EVER in rockn roll. I believe they really took this farewell tour seriously. If I had one regret it would be they didn't do Ain't That Peculiar, but I'm guessing that was Bill Pascalli's arrangement as I think he sang it on the Return cd, other than that I say keep on saying farewell more a few more rounds gentlemen.

Memo to V Fudge: I love it that you guys, close to 70, are still up there playing, and that at least a few hundred folks would come out to see you. New bass player, Pete, unfamiliar with you.. Vinnie, stop singing. If you want to see how a 70 year old can retain singing and playing chops, go see dave mason or peter frampton. Carmine, you look great. Your drum solo was very interesting. You still master those Long Island/New Jersey doo wop back up harmonies. And you can still knock those cans around. That's the good news. Bad news: stop posing. You look silly. And finally, Mark Stein. You were always a strong inventive player and you still are. And you've retained the vast majority of your voice. You made a weak-ish set strong. But the wig. Oh my. Still and all, (and Little Steven, I hope you're reading this), you guys were miles better than the Rascals on Broadway.

The band is as dynamic as in 1967. The vocals, harmony, arrangements, and solos were on the money. It seemed that no time had elapsed since last we met. Since I was close to the stage, the visuals were great, but at times the music was too loud. The bass beat found its way to my iinsides. The Fudge seems timeless. Carry on gentlemen!

I first heard Vanilla Fudge when I was 10 or 11 years old. I secretly loved the album, playing it in secret in my room when no one was around. I always felt they did something very special. Flash forward 48 years later, my son secretly stealing my album and apparently feeling the same way. I mentioned to him they were indeed still around and coming to Milwaukee! Well the family along with son's girlfriend in tow made to the show and were astonished. 4 extremely professional musicians and hard working entertainers reminded us of what a rock show should be. No gimmicks just awesome musicianship. Mark and Carmine would put any band to shame. Must see!!

On April 26 I had the opportunity to see live one of my favorite bands growing up. The Vanilla Fudge. It was exciting to finally get to see them live and hear one of my favorite songs of all times, their classic version of Keep Me Hangin' On. I paid the extra $$$$ to sit in the second row at Westbury Music Theatre. They came out and played with emotion and feeling. They did a great version of People Get Ready. In my opinion, the entire set was setting the stage for the finale - Keep Me Hangin'On. That is exactly what they did, they left the stage after Season of the Witch and kept everyone "hanging on". Everyone was expecting them to come back and play their ONLY hit - Keep Me........ How do you not give the fans what they came to hear? I hope there was a good reason for their total disregard of their longtime fans. I for one played the organ growing up and played their hit over and over. To this day it is one of my favorite songs. It was a sad night for Vanilla Fudge fans. Thank God Felix Calvarie and his Rascals did not disappoint as he found the time to entertain his fans and give them what they came to hear.

This is at least the fourth time I've seen "The Fudge" at BB Kings' Club. They never fail to put on a great show. They played some new songs like "The Letter and "Gimme some Lovin" as well as many of the favorites like" Shotgun" and "Ticket to Ride". They played for 2 hours non-stop.

The Vanilla Fudge performance at BBKing's was awesome. The group still has it and more !!! It was a great mix of songs of old and new. The musicians also got a chance to "do their thing" and they were amazing. It was a solid 90 minutes of rocking and rolling.

The setting was nice but the group has gotten old. They lost their rocking style and it showed. Their songs sounded alike. They played their retreads and except for Carmine'soutstanding drum solo, they were flat. They are fine as part of a multi group get together but as a solo act, they were boring. They cannot captivate an audience. After 3-4 songs, I wanted to go home.

One of the BEST concerts ever! I was there for their top hit psychedelic cover for "You Keep Me Hangin' On," and they did perform it for an encore. However, every song was memorable..."She's Not There," "Ticket to Ride," "Eleanor Rigby," "Season of the Witch"... We tailgated in the parking lot amidst a vivid and long-lasting sunset. And we were on our feet, singing along, dancing in place during the concert! Thank you, Bethel Woods, for bringing us this stellar group--so tight and inspiring after all these years!

Fantastic. The setting was very cozy indoor. The band was incredible. They have matured and performed terrific. The lighting set a mood. Their voices are great, music was terrific. We had a enjoyable evening. Joined by a 22 year old who was blown away by the performance and is becoming a fan. It proved to be better than I expected.

OMG! It was an awesome show in a nice intimate venue! Carmine STILL has it! His drumming and singing are still fantastic. He has been a favorite of mine for a long time!! They still sing and harmonize like they did back then.
