I've seen Underworld throughout the years about 7 or 8 times, since the Dubnobasswithmyheadman days, in New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, and Los Angeles. I can say they don't sound like they've aged a day, and in fact actually sound more relevant than ever. Not as easy task when their original fanbase are starting to gray and the new sound of techno attracting young fans via dubstep variants. Despite this, the band soldiers on doing what they do best, which is weaving a diverse array of synthetic sounds and beats, only this time with fewer collaborators, more warmth, and an album full of the lessons absorbed collaborating with each other on grandiose events like the London Olympics, the Frankenstein theatrical soundtrack, and a couple of albums with sonic auteur Brian Eno. Result: One of their finest albums in their discography, and a concert sprinkled with the best of the album, which sound totally in-step with their greatest hits. On this tour, Underworld also played little-heard songs like Eight Ball and Dirty Club in the show, to many fans' great delight. At Coachella or Terminal 5, they sound equally at home.

Underworld definitely know how to put on a good show. Of all electronic music bands / musicians they seem to have the formula down pat. They bring lots of positive energy and simply give it their all everytime they tour. I highly recommend seeing them if you enjoy electronic and/or dance music. They bring an integrity to dance music that few other acts can match.

This was the first time I've seen Underworld live and, I have to say, they were great; to that I have to add all 4 of us who attended this concert together fell in love with Jungle - what an original sound, kind of 80s sound (made me think of Miami or Miami Vice); super solid performance and great music. Both worth every penny.

It only took 20 years for me to finally catch Underworld live, but it was so worth it. They played pretty much every tune I was dying to hear, and The Bowl was hot with booty-shaking and good times. What an amazing way to start the summer.

Underworld did not disappoint! It's shocking how much talent they have, and the quality of their performance was better than their recordings. The concert was full of dancing, amazing lighting and the sound was awesome. The Hollywood bowl is the most amazing venue, where else can you enjoy a catered picnic at your seats. We live in Seattle and would totally consider coming down to LA for another concert.

Overall a good night, although I am no fan of that venue. The stacked parking being the worst aspect of it.. I parked blocks away and walked. I prefer indoor venues for the better sound quality but this was good enough. The opening act was great and Underworld was astounding as usual. The show started on time, but no encore...probably due to the strict rules of the Hollywood Bowl.

I thoroughly enjoyed Underworld. It was my second time seeing them, previously in a much smaller venue. They brought it on with the music, with the audience standing and dancing for nearly the whole concert. They didn't get 5 stars because I would have liked to have seen more visuals and better big screen camera views (they were usually blurry and discolored on purpose). When I saw them previously (I was front row), the lead singer's facial expressions and movements added a lot to the musical experience. I couldn't see him so well in such and large venue, and I certainly couldn't afford pit seats. I really enjoyed Jungle. I was not familiar with them, but they had a very tight set and lots of fun songs. I hope to see them again.

Have been a fan of Underworld for more than 20 years. Music was inspiring, energizing, I cannot say enough! I love this music! The bowl was fun. The crowd was interesting, looked like a lot of retied ravers. (as I am one of them) I am old, it was fun to dance into the night to one of the best DJ acts that will ever play the bowl. Til we meet again.

I've been a fan of Underworld since around 1997 and love their music, but haven't had a chance to see them until last year when they were announced as the headliners for HARD Summer. I bought tickets immediately when they went on sale and had all the anticipation of getting to see them totally demolished when the even got shutdown by the L.A. Fire Marshall. Needless to say, I was extremely anxious to see them still and anticipated a show like this (a concert for them instead of a festival) even more after not being able to see them. Fast-forward until last weekend: I live in Arizona and drove out with some friends to San Diego for this show. Leading up to the show and checking the event promoter's website along with a couple of other sites we were seeing conflicts as to the schedule times for when the doors were to open, who was going to perform before Underworld, and what Underworld's set time was going to be. Wanting to play it safe and not having anything else really to do, we showed up at 8 to the venue (which was the earliest time we'd come across for the doors being open). The venue was easy to find and we were able to get parking in the venue's parking lot which was very convenient. The doors apparently didn't open at 8 and we ended up waiting in line for about 30-40 minutes, but I won't fault the venue/promoter on that because I'm not sure we got the 8 o'clock information from them. Security was tight but not rude, intrusive, or overly-done and we got in no problem. Once inside we saw how small the venue really was. This turned out to be a cool thing because you had a good view of the stage no matter where you were on the floor. There were good-sized bars on either side of the main floor, along with more bars in other areas (VIP, boxes, upstairs, etc.). I didn't buy anything from them, but a friend did and he was not disappointed with the prices or the quality of the beverages. Also, despite it being smaller, it held a good amount of people. The crowd was alright, though I think a lot of the attendees thought it was going to be more of a costume party (as it was advertised on some sites) than a concert and it thinned out towards the time that Underworld went on (probably to go to other costume parties nearby). We didn't run into any rude or obnoxious people that might have put a damper on the mood of the show. Though it would have been cool to have a higher percentage of the crowd there be dedicated Underworld fans, it was still an energetic crowd that kept up a good vibe the whole time. With the bars in such close proximity at all times, there were a decent amount of sloppy drunk people later in, but none that didn't look like they were not having a great time. On to the performances: first up to perform was a DJ by the name of Fernando. He was one notch above unbearable. He had good taste in music, but didn't mix the songs well at all. He didn't know how to beat-match or tempo-match and there were multiple times that he had volume spikes that were not appropriate and were obnoxious. We couldn't wait for this guy to get done, but we had to. He was on for way too long and he came back to DJ while stage setup was being done between performances. He was the worst part of the show for sure. His playing did give us an idea of the quality of the sound system though, and it was pretty good. Not top notch, but it would get the job done without hardly any complaints and it had plenty of bass to keep the dance floor pumpin'. Second on the stage was a duo called Blaqk Audio who we hadn't ever heard of before. I can see why they were chosen to perform before Underworld because of their setup (one guy constructing electronic dance music while another performs as a front man and sings), but the music didn't really grab me and I ended up hanging out against the back wall for most of their set. Not being familiar with their music, I would say they performed well. I didn't notice anything that sounded out of place or like they screwed up at any points and the singer was on-que the whole time. On to the real deal: Underworld. They went on at around 11:50 (the event promoter's site said they were going on at 10, but we asked someone at one point after we'd arrived at the venue and they told us the correct time). We had also read on Underworld's website that Karl, the singer, was feeling a little under the weather. They came out and performed amazingly. Despite Karl being sick, he sounded great and nailed all the songs. The electronic side of the performance was dead-on as well. The show was unique because the small venue didn't allow some of the visual aspects of their show that I've seen in photos or videos and Karl was noticeably less active on stage due to his illness. The lack of some of the visuals played out to be a cool thing though because it put more of a focus on the music and making the most of the visuals that they were able to use. We moved up front at the beginning to take pictures and then to the back to have room to move around and dance. It wasn't too hard to get close for the pictures and the back had a good amount of space to move around on our own while still feeling like we were part of the crowd. The set list was great and flowed really well. It focused on their new album, but they played a decent amount of older songs as well. Being a long-time fan of theirs, I would have swapped out two of the songs they played from the new album for older ones to make a more balanced set, but I wasn't disappointed at all. There was a lot of improvisation and cool mixing to go from one song to the next and that gave the show a really cool fully live performance feel as opposed to just hearing the songs played exactly like on the studio recordings. These 13 songs came out to be about 2 hours of awesome. The two other west-coast dates they had on this leg of their tour were festivals and they only had a little over an hour at each of those. I think the 2 hour mark is a good amount of time for a full performance of theirs and am glad I saw this one as opposed to the other 2 for that reason. Getting out of the venue was easy and hitting the road back to the hotel took no time at all. It was a great night despite the poor DJing and schedule confusion and I'm totally glad I went. If they were to come back to the same venue, I would definitely go again. If they were to come back to any other venue within a day's drive for me, I would definitely go see them again.

Underworld is amazing to begin with. There have been other opportunities for me to see them but I've always managed to miss them one way or another. But not this time! It was worth the wait and I can die happy now. I've been a fan for a number of years and this is my first time seeing them live. I was jumping, I was dancing, I was singing. Needless to say, I was sore and exhausted the next day but it was well worth it. If you like listening to their music, you will LOVE seeing them live. Not only is the music pumping and energetic but their visuals are also phenomenal! If you ever get the chance to see them... GO! You won't be dissapointed!

I got front row and center. That was reason enough to be super excited. I've loved underworld for many many long years. I've seen them transition, a lot. Ive only seen them play once before this which was in 07. That show was pretty amazing too! Karl and Rick are just brilliant. They really know how to put on a good show and entertain. Karls dancing is untouchable. They rocked out, and even made me cry at one point because I was so damn happy and excited. I never stopped dancing. Even the DJ that played before them was fantastic too, definitely will check him out!

I went to this event to see Blaqk Audio....who I adore. They did not disappoint! Davey Havok is such a delight....he really knows how to put on a show. Jade is a master at all things electronic, he blows my mind. I just wish their new album was out...from what I heard at the concert, the new songs are phenominal! I was disappointed because I was told that the Blaqk Audio would be on at 10pm...they didn't go on until closer to 11pm and only performed a handful of songs. I didn't even stay for underworld.

Skullcrusher: Horrible warm up. Bad music selection. Bad volume control (way too loud). I think most djs would have gotten the hint by the reaction of the crowd but he seemed oblivious. I'd hazard to say he might be an ok choice for late night or after party bt certainly not warm up and certainly not for underworld. Blaqk: again bad bad bad choice. Sound issues, wrong sound, it seemed like whomever did the bill for this event did not even know who underworld was. UW is always amazing and this was no exception. Overcame the obnoxious opening sets. I'd tell someone to go to this show with this billing only if they knew when UW set would start and avoid the openers.

The night was nearly spoiled by a disorganized club. Two artists were set to perform before Underworld and I personally think a 2 hour opening set by the FIRST artist alone is too much. This guy simply would not get off the stage. This was followed by a short set by Blaque Audio, a bizzare mix of depeche mode, peter murphy, skinny puppy and early 80' ministry ( think the "Revenge" album) who brought the highschoolers in. Then, to our horror the first DJ was brought back out..but kept out of sight from the booing. There was obviously a problem with Underworld who came out late and began the set with a muffled audio problem that was not resolved until the third song, at which point the sound kicked butt and got to where it needed to be. Karl was sick, throat problems and it seemed like he was struggling and having trouble finding the energy. That aside, the show was awesome and the arrangements much much stronger than last years US visit. The highpoint for me was the "Rez/Cowgirl" section with the bombastic 5 minute percussion intro. "Diamond Jigsaw", a song which sounds like a flashback to Underworld circa 1988, was significantly de-rocked and up-techno'd and came out great, and as usual, you cannot beat "Moaner" for a final encore. Hey, rough show or not, I am just glad they were here. Just once, I want to see "Juanita" performed live!!

We had numerous bands come out with new albums and many of the greats showed up after long hiatuses to hit the NY scene. I always enjoy see them play live and they are just amazing live as well. However, having seen them a few times in the past, Karl seemed a bit tired this time. I was at the front row and that alone was just super exciting and fun. I just wish that Karl had more energy like when they played in Japan. He was jumping around, dancing, talking,,,simply full of energy (later, I read that Karl was indeed very exhausted). However, I still enjoyed the show very, very much. I would not miss their show no matter what. Despite his performance, I REALLY appreciate them coming to San Diego. DRAWBACK: DJ and the so-called special guest, Blaqk Audio were terrible. DJ was playing lame lame electro pop dance music for very very long time. It started getting annoying and painful to hear the music in such loud volume, then it got even worse when Blaqk Audio came out. I know there were some BA funs at the front, but they could have arranged some one better or more in line with Underworld type of music. Underworld has some dub influence or affection, they could have simply had some DJ play some deep dub. That would have been much much better to me personally. So it's just my 2 cent. PS No Underworld T-shirts or anything sold at the event: What's up with that? I'm glad I got a copy of Karl's exhibition catalogue from Japan a few weeks back, but I was a bit disappointed.

This show was a dream come true for me. Underworld never tours in the US and I took a bus from Philly just to catch this one east coast date. The crowd was super into it and Underworld were totally on point. Perfect mix of new material, crowd favorites, and a couple obscure numbers (8-ball? Rowla?). Of course, they closed big with Rez/Cowgirl and Born Slippy and it was a frigging catharsis. And the Dirty Epic remix was tremendous. I couldn't have been more pleased. I love Underworld. One of the main things is all of the layers and little sonic details they put in. Even songs I have the spaces between beats memorized I could barely make out. Bass was completely overwhelming. We left early. I was really really looking forward to this. Also my Maker's Mark tasted like it was watered down with cheap vodka. What can I say? UW is off the charts with their banging, thumping techno, yet sometimes mellow and blissed out downtempo songs. One of my all time favorite groups who put on a display of visual orgasmic and aural pleasure. These guys ripped an amazing performance that blew the roof off the Fox, which is by far 1 of the Bay Area's coolest venues. I have had the good fortune of witnessing Underworld 4 times now over the last 20 years and they do not disappoint. They are classic and still in style! Amazing show. I am grateful for having the chance to see them again. And they just played a set at Coachella. Missed that but thanks to YouTube. I am blessed these wankers graced our presence here in Cali! I was a fan of Underworld throughout high school and college but never saw them live. Saw they were touring the states for the first time in years and decided to take the plunge. They put on an excellent, lengthy show (2+ hours) with a massively varied setlist. At 55, Karl Hyde has excellent stamina and energy and his signature unself-conscious dancing was a highlight. The sound is a bit boomy and rock - US soundsystems for electronic music are notoriously underpowered - but they overcame these limitations with a creative sound mix. Overall if you are a fan of the group you will really enjoy this show, even though you'll be surrounded by geezers reliving their rave halcyon days.

Magical. Biblical. Absolute Perfection. Unforgettable. I am still buzzing from the show. Took my best friends to see Underworld live at the gorgeous Fox Theater in Oakland. VIP at Telegraph was awesome. But the men and their music were PERFECTION. Played a 2 hour set with some rare tracks I haven't heard live, and I've been seeing them live for 20 years. Simply put - these guys are the original masters. It is not their first rodeo and the bring it like no one else. Their new album is so amazing I really just wanted to hear it front to back. But, like true masters they mixed the old and new seamlessly. I think a lot of the crowd only knew a few of the classic tracks and weren't really aware of the sheer volume of material they have and were completely and totally floored. Hands down of the best shows I have ever seen.

I've been listening to their music for over 20 years but had never been able to see them live, so I was particularly excited about this show, and boy did they deliver! Great songs, great sound (not excessively loud, thank God!) and great vibes. I wouldn't miss them next time around!

I thought that would just be a '90s rave nostalgia experience, but they really put on a great show. Great pacing and flow to an epic finale. Really had the crowd in a blissed-out ecstatic frenzy by the end, no psychoactives required.

Come all the way from the other side of the world, the fans wait for over a decade (outside of a lame rave) and only give 90 minutes to the fans? Very disappointed. Tons of songs I wished to have heard..

Having been a fan of Underworld since the release of dubnobasswithmyheadman, it was no surprise that their performance of said album would be nothing less of amazing. I've seen them a few times and would see them a few more. Their infinite energy and love for what they do is more than evident in their radiant performances. Even though I would have been thrilled to have seen the graphics from the original concert series on the big screen again, the music and Karl's stage presence more than made up for the lack of graphics. A magical evening indeed. Jungle's performance left me equally speechless. I wish so much success for this band, just not at the expense of pop mediocrity.

I can't quite express how amazing Underworld's performance was. The lead (Karl Hyde?) had such great energy and truly seemed to be enjoying himself and happy to be performing at the Hollywood Bowl. I've seen Underworld every time they have performed in the Los Angeles area. This was one of their top shows although they have all been amazing. I love the Hollywood Bowl and as usual the audience was wonderful, pleasant and fun. I really enjoyed the opening act Jungle who I was not familiar with before.

Spectacular night at Hollywood Bowl! Underworld was great. We missed the opening (Jungle) due to traffic coming up from San Diego, but to our seats just in time for Underworld. And they did not disappoint. Everyone had a great time and Underworld had the entire bowl dancing!
