This has been on my "Bucket List" since there has been one! I have 4 copies of the movie and watch it very often. I have a hearing problem and even though I could not hear some of the dialog, I knew what they were saying. I loved every minute of it! P S: So did my husband!

My husband and I drove from Milwaukee to see this show in Davenport, Iowa - that was the closest venue to our home. The show is a delight. The cast is remarkably strong, right down to the Ensemble - strong singers, strong dancers, strong actors. This production has wonderful sets and costumes - just eye candy. The musical numbers are lively and intricate - I was especially entranced with "Get Me to the Church on Time". The best "Dolittle" (Eliza's father) I've ever seen. I've always thought this number was slow and tedious in the movie - but this version changed my opinion - I could have watched the Church number over and over.

This was a new and exciting version of My Fair Lady, performed "in concert" with the orchestra on stage. Yale Drama students, both alumni and current undergrads, did a great job in this revival of the musical that first opened in New Haven in the mid-1950s. Congrats to all involved in the production!

first visit to e j thomas! big traffic jam trying to get into garage, so we parked in surface lot one block away. no big deal. we will get there earlier next time. thank goodness it wasn't raining. easy online transaction to buy tickets and pick them up at will call. we marveled at the talent, energy, and especially the singing voices of the actors! hard to believe they were in Detroit Saturday afternoon for another show. we received good value for our entertainment dollars Friday night!

Tried to prepare myself by viewing this as DVD. Movies surly pale compared to seeing this live performance. All performers were truly professional. You will thank yourself many times over for making the effort to see this one. It's so easy to say "great", but to see "great" is so much more meaningfull and long-lasting! George Bernard Shaw would have been proud of these actors and their com- mitment to stay true to his Pygmalian.

The recent production of My Fair Lady was a weak and high-schoolish presentation that would possibly have been acceptable for community theater, but NOT for a professional touring company. The music was cheesy (was that 6 piece orchestra?), the sets, costumes and lighting were lousy. Special effects were non-existant. The acting was fair-at best. Nothing remarkable or interesting here. I will think long and hard before going back to E J Thomas for another "Broadway Show."

When I purchased the tickets for this performance I hadn't read the fine print and thought we would be seeing a staged musical similar to a Broadway production. We went to see it almost half-heartedly thinking it would be a musical review by just a few singers. Boy was I wrong! The large cast of singers were fantastic and the orchestra was great. The radio concept with the narrator and sound effects was very appealing. I am waiting with bated breath for their next performance.

The play was well done, sets were beautiful, and I could actually hear all of the lines. We had great seats in the Heymann Center in Lafayette, LA. I brought my neice with me, who was attending a play for the first time. It was a great experience for her and she fell in love with plays and the story of My Fair Lady. My only complaint was that the play was about 20 minutes too long. It lasted over 3 hours, which is longer than the movie. We enjoyed the play and the experience.

Good show, but performers were second stringers. We dropped our season tickets for same reason. I know VBCC probably doesn't have much say soor the budget doesn't allow, but it would be a great boost if a couple big name Broadway people could be lined up occasionally. But hey, we enjoyed it, keep up the good work

Only one aspect of the evening was unpleasant.. Though theushers wer polite, they informed us that we could not have a playbill, because there was not enough to go around. This seemed a bit odd considering the amount we spent on tickets. Even this idiocy could not diminish the wonderful aspects of the play, but someone should take care of the issue, even if you have to charge an additional dollar or two for the tickets. in the future..

Absolutely amazing performance! Aurora - in her debut performance as Eliza Doolittle - turned in the best performance since Julie Andrews. At the finale of "I Could Have Danced All Night" I waited, cringing, expecting a crack on the final sustained high note; nope - she nailed it perfectly. And Freddie was also spot-on throughout "On the Street Where You Live". The kick-line chorus in "Get Me to The Church On Time" was also absolutely incredible - I've seldom enjoyed a performance more.

I have always enjoyed watching "My Fair Lady" in the past. This is the first time on the stage. The performance of the cast was splendid. Singing and dancing, excelllant.. The singing voice of Ms. Florence (Eliza) was especially wonderful to listen to. The were times, due to the "cockney accent", where it was difficult to understand the lines spoken, especially Ms. Florence. If I had not been conversant with what was occuring at the time, I would not have known what was spoken. But all in all, an excellant performance.. I would recommend my friend and relatives to attend. A shame it was only here for one performance.

The actor playing Henry Higgins was excellent, both in his acting and singing. Freddy's voice phenomenal, but he was a little stiff, like he was trying too hard. Eliza's singing voice was excellent, but her acting left much to be desired. Her interpretations of the character were way off, and she seemed stiff on stage. Get Me To The Church On Time was the best musical number in the show - it gave the feel of a real Broadway musical. Overall it was entertaining, and the Orpheum Theater is beautiful. We had a very good view of the stage from the balcony.

This is one of the great American musicals, and the actors who played Liza and her Dad were wonderful. However, the acoustics in the Orpheum Theatre really can't handle dialogue with a cockney accent. And the actor who played Henry Higgins was just fair. It would be worth seeing if the acoustics were better.

Enjoyed the performance - except for the totally distracting lav mics stuck on the lead actors foreheads! What is up with that?? Most noticeable on Henry Higgins. There must be a better way...technical director are you listening? The chorus was very good, as was Alf Dolittle. He made it look easy and I know it isn't. I would have liked to have felt more empathy for Eliza as she realizes that she is only a trophy for Higgins wager with Pickering ( since this is the major denouement) ... but I never really did. I liked Eliza but never really connected with her across the stage. The Freddie character, tho a small part, was well acted - great singing voice! That said, I thought the actor (Aurora) playing Eliza also did a creditable jub in her first major role - I will look for her again in other productions.

I'm adding to my review: Freddie's rendition of "The Street Where You Live" was superb! We (party of 8) were impressed with his voice -- it was beautiful. That song was my son's favorite moment of the show -- very impressive voice. We also thought the young man who played the bartender was enjoyable to watch. He was excellent in one of the dance scenes as well. (We heard he's "Eliza"'s husband in real life.) Thoroughly enjoyed the performance. May travel to Los Angeles area to see the performance again.

My Fair Lady is one of my favorite movies and plays. I've seen it live several times before and this was up there with the best. I loved the choreography, especially during "Get Me to the Church On time"! I felt that Eliza's cockney accent was a little bit off during the beginning, but it didn't detract from the overall play. When she switched to proper English, it was perfect. She portrayed Eliza delightfully! Henry Higgens and Col Pickering were wonderful as well. What a great show! I was impressed by literally everyone in the cast. Alot of times in a show, the principles carry most of the talent, and the ensemble hides behind them. But in this show, everyone was a triple threat: they could all sing, act, and dance. I thought that Chris Carsten's interpretation of Professor Higgins was fresh and original. Vocal standouts were Daniel as Freddy, and, of course, Aurora as Eliza. Arthur Wise had me in stitches as Alfred P. Doolittle, who, accompinied by the ensemble delivered a rousing version of ''Get Me To The Church On Time''. My only complaints are the sound at the very beginning that was a bit muffled, which made it difficult to understand some of Eliza's lines. Thankfully, about 15-20 minutes into the show a sound techinician snuck out and adjusted one of the side speakers, which seemed to resolve this issue. My other complaint is the use of a black backdrop during of the scenes from the 2nd Act. It seemed to create a little bit of an abstract feel, which might be a little too different for a classic such as "My Fair Lady". But overall, it was an enjoyable evening, and I look forward to seeing more Broadway in Fresno shows in the future.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this presentation. We watched the film version recently and this was a faithful reproduction but with stage adaptations in precisely the right spots to make it "pop." The costumes and stage sets were excellent with just enough realism to add to the scenes without upstaging the actors. The actors and actresses did fantastic jobs in their respective roles and there were no weak moments in the entire production. This was family fun for all and well worth the price of admission! Please continue to bring these types of productions to town. On a side note, it would be nice to have the lights dim or blink or a bell tone or other mechanism to let the crowd know to take their seats as in other theaters. We noticed several people caught outside for the first scene and the first scene after intermission.

So what went wrong? How do you take a fantastic script and score and end up with a below average musical play? It starts with an musical accompanyment that is too small, too quiet, too sluggish, and lacking in energy. The tempo on every song needs to be brightened, and more punchy. The voices of the actors were good, and Freddy was excellent. Eliza was okay. The heart of the play and the most disappointing character was Prof. Higgins. He simply was not sincerely British enough. When an American tries to portray a surly Brit, but cannot pull off the Brit, we are left with surly. He is supposed to be laughable and likable, with a bit of sympathy, because he says what we all think. However, here he was unlikable, and mean, and not at all British. His acerbic words must be accompanied by a softness and gentility, and not the gruffness that he had in this play. He is supposed to start out as an eager pushy parent and then turn into a suiter and lover. Instead, he starts out as a cad, an angry scientist, and ends up as a jilted and unsympathetic loser. The supporting cast is as follows: ensemble, excellent but in desperate need of better musical accompanyment; Eliza'a father, too young and fresh for the role of a weather-beaten old drunk of a father, but otherwise okay; Mrs. Pierce, excellent; Col. Pickering, excellent; Mrs. Higgins, excellent. The sets and costumes were unremarkable. The scene at the Ascot horse races could have been much better had there been something indicating that they were at the horse races. My children did not understand that this scene was at the races at all. A paddock, stable, a horse or jockey, or even the race rail would have helped. It would help to have horse shadows traversing the background as the horses run by. Otherwise, by the looks of the costumes and the actors, this scene could be in a park or an indoor ballroom-- it is just very hard to tell where they are if you missed the dialogue or if you do not know what Ascot is (which is all the playbill uses to describe the setting). Also, the opening scene depicts Eliza in ragged clothes and dirty. However, the flower girls later in the play are dressed modestly but neatly and cleanly. It is misleading to introduce Eliza as a tattered dirty street urchin. She has a job, and she supports herself. She is simply uneducated. And this is the point of the play -- what keeps her in her place is her speech. Otherwise, she is as worthy as anyone. Overall, I wish the play had a better energy, both from the musicians and from Higgins. Unfortunately, it dragged, it was mean spirited, and it was boring. My apologies to George Bernard Shaw. I sincerely hope this review inspires tweaking and reworking that will make the play better.

Beautiful production. This musical quickly enveloped the audience. The quality of singing was wonderful and loved the quick scene changes. Fell in love with all the characters except for Professor Dolittle's mother. The "actress" who played mother Dolittle was so flat and cardboard-like that it actually brought me to a halt. I'm not sure where she was dredged up from - almost seemed like an audience member. Fortunately, she didn't play a large role - but never-the-less it tainted the experience for the four of us.

I was disappointed that we could not understand Professor HIggins during musical numbers and during some fast paced dialog. I know this was not just me and my ears as people all around were discussing the problem at intermission. The music overpowered his vocals and I am not sure if it was the theater's sound system or the sound system operator. Still gave 3 stars for the fact that other performances were spot on.

Although the show was delightful in many ways, it was ruined overall because the two lead actors' microphones were not turned up loud enough to understand what they were saying most of the time. All of the other actors could generally be heard and understood. Luckily I knew the show and could tell what was going on, but anyone who had not seen the show before may not have understood what was going on. Mr. Doolittle stole the show on songs like "With A Litlle Bit" and "Get Me To The Church On Time".

Talented cast and beautiful scenery. Only problem we had was being able to hear the actors over the music. Great seats and very enjoyable show.

All the actors and dancers were wonderful and the sets really nice... but there was something weird about the sound when they weren't singing. I don't think it was the accents or the volume, which was perfectly adequate -- but I had a hard time deciphering ANY of the dialog. I wasn't the only one; I spoke to six or seven other audience members, who all said the same thing. It's almost as if the cast was speaking in a different language whose cadence was similar to English -- maybe German. If I hadn't seen My Fair Lady on stage and screen many times during the past half century, I would have been disappointed with the Adler presentation.

This was a polished production with a good cast who looked and sounded their parts perfectly. The voices were all quite good, the staging was effective (although sometimes the backdrops were a little slow to be lowered into place), and the costumes were very nicely done. A thoroughly delightful evening!

My Goodness ! I do not see how it could have been better. If you do not want to be left desperately needing to hear I Could Have Danced All Night, " The Street Where You Live, and Get Me To The Church On Time again and again, don't go see this show.

I have had the opportunity to see this muscial many times over the years. There were several things that were disappointing. Very weak orchestra! It would have been better to use pre-recorded....not enough musicians which made for a spotty performance. Very slow scenery changes....made the continunity of the show difficult and almost 3 hours long. Very nice voices, but please do not sing such a beautiful song as "on the street where you live" to the audience.

Audry Hepburn, who played Eliza Doolittle in the movie, had nothing on Aurora Florence, who played Eliza in this stage performance. Her voice and acting was absolutely stunning! In fact, all the performers did a stellar job! I've watched the movie at least a dozen times in my life and the stage performance at EJ Thomas Hall was even better than the movie because the only difference between the two, right down to the amazing set/background and extraordinarily elaborate costumes, was the wonderful fact that it was live! I was literally taken back in time and I didn't want it to end. Out of all the musicals I've seen on stage, these performers were first rate and this musical is at the top of the list. I could go on and on about it. This is definetly a must see event!

As this was my first opportunity to see a musical at the Fox, I was quite pleased with the performance and location. Parking: available despite a Detroit Lions game at the same time Theatre entrance: arrived a little early but amazed with the lobby of the Fox. Quite beautiful, what a gem... Ushers: only disappointment as I found the ushers to be rather rude and unfriendly. Performance: Acting, singing and dancing were better than expected and well worth the ticket price. I can't get the show tunes out of my head and can wait to see another show!!
