Bottom line: The show wasn't bad, but it didn't blow me away. I only know the Zombies' three big hits. They did play them and I did enjoy them The rest of the show didn't excite me. I will say this, though, for guys in their late '60s Argent and Blunstone are in remarkably better shape than I am (and I'm a decade younger than they are!) As for the Strawbs, I was unfamiliar with their catalog. I admired their musicianship but their songs left me flat.

The Zombies, on a 50th anniversary tour, played a terrific show to a packed house at The Keswick Theater Saturday, September 17th, 2011. They opened with some early singles, then played selections from their new album "Breathe Out Breathe In". From there, they played a healthy portion of the Odessey and Oracle album, including a rousing "Time of the Season." They played some Argent songs and a couple of solo songs by singer Colin Bluntstone. All featured excellent musicianship. And Colin still has a beautiful voice. Highly recommended to any Zombies, or British Invasion fan.

The zombies were in fine form for their 50th anniversary tour. This is my 3rd time seeing them here and Colin Blunstone's voice was better than ever. Rod Argent's keyboard playing was inspired and the rest of the band was tight. They whipped through 22 songs highlighting all points of their long career. Kicking off with "Stick and Stones", doing 4 from Odessey and Oracle, some new ones, some Argent and ending with a jazzy version of "Summertime". A 2 hour concert felt like 15 minutes and they left us wanting more.

What a great concert. No gimmicks, no special effects, just great Rock n' Roll. The talent of every member of the band was obvious. Every member of the band was craftsman and a master of his craft. Colin Blunstone was absolutely amazing. He is timeless. The strength and range of his voice was incredible. He still sounded like he was 20 years old. Rod Argent was outstanding. His talent and passion was plain to see. The band was very tight. Everyone knew what the other one was thinking. The 'new boy" as Argent and Blunstone called guitarist Tom Toomey was superb. It was a real treat to see the Zombies after being introduced to them back in the 60's. Their new CD is excellent and a treat to listen to. It was a new sound for them but you can hear traces of the old Zombies sneak through many of the songs. "Breath Out, Breath In" is just a great piece of Rock N' Roll. I bought a copy signed by Argent and Blunstone. Catch them if you can. You won't be disappointed.

Acoustic Strawbs were superb. Great harmonies, superb musicianship & exciting acoustic renditions of their prog & folk rock songs. Delicate, daring & dynamic. The ZOMBIES mesmerized & thrilled with their cohesive musicial set that was culled from their 50 yrs together. From British invasion hits to rocking & groovin tunes off their latest CD. The soft delicate tunes stood up well as did the hits and Argents Hold Your Head Up rocked the house. Colin Bluestone's voice was perfect & the band was tight & having a good time.

I cannot believe members of the Zombies are close to 70 years of age. Both their looks and music are timeless. The Zombies were one of the most underrated bands in the 60's. My son, who is 25 years old says this is his favorite band from the 60's - he went out and purchased the old CD's. He knew all their songs - I only knew the hits. They played new music, which sounds great - I purchased the new CD and a double Live CD - Zombies Live in some place in England. Opening act "Acoustic Strawbs" were also very good - they go back to the 60"s and started the 3 part vocal harmony done by CSN. Great night - enjoyed both groups

For the fan who wants to hear the original hits from the 60's, the boys did not disappoint! They liberally sprinkled old stuff in with the new, and did a fantastic job at that; their hits sounded very true to the originals. Their new material was enjoyable too, it's got some memorable hooks, we liked it enough to buy the new CD. The Zombies exhibited an obvious joy in playing their music, and the two original band members have assembled a competent group of experienced musicians around them for this go round, resulting in a tight performance which pleased the crowd. Rod Argent on the keyboards projected amazing energy and delivered those patented Zombies keyboard licks which are their signature in abundance. Colin Blunstone was also great, his voice is still in fine fettle though it lacks the reedy delicacy it had in the 60's. Their opening song, "I Love You" took my husband and I straight back to adolescent longing land! Only criticism of the concert was that the sound mix obscured the vocals a bit, they could have been miked better. I have encountered this at several venues of the old theater type, don't know what the issue is.

What can I say. Colin's voice is strong, straight on key, and never waivers. He can go from Rock to Jazz to Easy Listening at the flick of a switch. His velvety voice is one of the most overlooked talents in Rock History (at least in the usa). I rank him in the top five, along with Paul Rodgers of Bad Co., and Freddie Mercury of Queen. Rod's keyboard playing is impecable, and the man must of made a deal with the devil, he looks 40! The touring band is also top notch. I've waited over 40 yrs to see this act live ... the wait was worth it. I wish they were here for two nights, I'd go to both.

The concert was amazing. The Strawbs were all I expected. The Zombies did all their hits and some new songs. They did the Argent hits also. I thought this was a great experience and brought back memories.

David Cousins may be 66 but that beautiful raspy baritone sounds as rich as it did when he was 30 (even then he sounded like an old man). The Strawbs were amazingly good Saturday night. I saw them twice in the early part of the last decade with Brian Willoughby instead of the current Chaz Cronk. Both were great to see and hear but with Chaz they have a third vocal which truly enlarges and rounds their sound. The vocals were all very solid and the song choices excellent. Five stars for the Strawbs. The Zombies\u2026 well for one thing the sound mix was bad, which is very unusual for the Keswick. High frequencies were painfully shrill and bass feedback just ate up much of the middle. Colin s vocals were sometimes impressive\u2026 and sometimes way off the mark. Argent was his usual competent and entertaining self. They had some great moments, (Colin pulled off "A Rose for Emily" very well, and that is very difficult song to sing) but mostly were a disappointment to me. Two stars for the Zombies

The sound system during the openingshow of the Acoustic Strawbs was set up badly. The sound was too sharp and loud. And we did not like the band anyways. Although the seats in Keswick are not comfortable, especially if you are a tall person, we found that the discomfort went away immediately when THE ZOMBIES show started. I was blown away by the voice and charisma of Colin Blunstone. Rod Argent was also great to see live and I was impressed by all the musicians. The show was great, there was enough talk in between the songs from Colin and Rod to the audience with great information. In short the show, sound and buzz was fantastic. I believe they did 21 songs including the encore; we had a great time. Highly recommend the Zombies!!!!
