Ballet Idaho's production was gorgeous. The quality of the dancers, costumes and sets was completely beautiful. They make slight changes every year. The Boise Philharmonic performed Tchaikovsy's music live, which was flawless.

Saw the Friday, December 15th performance of the Nutcracker at the Morrison Center and was amazed at the quality of the dancing, scenery and costumes. This was a first class performance by the company dancers as well as the youngsters who are students at the Ballet Idaho Academy. I took a friend who had lived in Portland, OR and Virginia and she thought it was better than the performances she had seen before Friday night. All of the participants were so well prepared and the support staff did an incredible job of getting every setting correct, everything was in its place, and the dancers made it all look easy. I know that it isn't, but the whole thing went off without a wrinkle. Just amazing! A big thank you to the supporters and sponsors of the ballet and to Peter Anastos who does such a thorough job of training and preparing the dancers. It is a magical treat to see them perform.

Enjoyed the performance. Beautiful setting, music was great. Not as stunning costume wise as I recall at previous viewings, but still enjoyable.

hard to know how to rate this... the costumes were beautiful! dancers were excellent! sets were beautiful! but they didn't include one of our favorite parts--Mother Ginger and all the little ones hiding under her big skirt, and it is one of the more interesting parts for younger children (which i had with me)

I wish the main dancer had relaxed more, she was spot on in her moves but not graceful. Hopefully, that was opening night nerves and other performances improved. But we really enjoyed the overall performance!

This ballet wasn't what I expected. I understood it would be a collection of three unrelated ballets, but they were vastly different, to the point where it didn't make any sense. The first was more or less your stereotypical ballet -- light and carefree, but overall a little forgettable. It was a Baroque concerto so the music was quite dull. The second was borderline performance art and not at all something I would ever want to see again. I wish I had known that going in, otherwise I would have picked another show to go to. From the music to the dancing (if you could call it that) everything sounded and looked ugly. The story was about an artist who was snubbed by the public and her critics, and then takes out her anger on her lover. I get where she was coming from... but throwing yourself around the stage and having a tantrum does not make a good ballet. This was unfortunately the longest performance of the night. The third piece was a comedy on everything that could go wrong during a performance. It was fun and upbeat, a huge difference from the second piece. You could tell the dancers loved performing that one. I respect the dancers and the musicians, but this was just an unfortunate grab-bag that they were stuck performing. If I were to see another ballet through this organization, I would see something with a cohesive story, not a catch-all. It honestly felt like a bunch of reject performances thrown together at the last second.

This performance was beautifully marketed and had the audience anticipating an evening of Sinatra music and dance. The reality was just the opposite. The Sinatra piece was relatively brief, and performed last. The other pieces had no relation to Sinatra or his music or contemporaries. The longer ballet, Scheherazade, was strangely costumed and disconcerting. Some of the interesting choreography was lost in the modern interpretation, or seemed disconnected due to the costume design. Ballet Idaho clearly has a supportive community and very hardworking dancers. And of course, one person's view of art is just that. Others may have loved the performance.

This performance by Ballet Idaho was a unique treat! There were 4 wonderful dance pieces, each very different. The first was a classic Balanchine ballet and Elizabeth Barreto was an exquisite lead! The second piece was interesting and different, but still a beautiful ballet number with the principal dancers. Scheherazade was brought out again (this number was done a couple of years ago) and it was a fantastically danced story. The stage setting, although simple, really made the story come to life. Phyllis Affrunti danced a striking Scheherazade once again. The final piece, Nine Sinatra Songs, was a real treat for the audience. The number used all of their fabulous principal dancers in a 50's type dance club setting. It is such a great opportunity for Boise to have a professional ballet company in its midst. I would recommend seeing their productions.

We wished the dancing to Frank Sinatra music had gone on and on. Nine numbers were not enough. The time flew by and we were enchanted. It was marvelous that eighteen such accomplished dancers were on display in Boise. What a wonderful way to spend a Friday evening.

I attended Swan Lake on a last minute scheduling because I m from out of town. I was in total awe by the dancers abilities. I still have sores in my mouth due to the fact that I did not want to cry because of the beautiful production. Swan Lake is my most favorite ballet ever, so I love seeing how other companies put it on. I will be back to attend other productions put on by Ballet Idaho

This was a fantastic ballet. While it was not your typical "story" such as Swan Lake or The Nutcracker. It told its own story in snippets of ballet through time. It begins with your very traditional Russian ballet, proceeds with a mid-century American ballet, and finished with a medley by Fleetwood Mac and very modern ballet. If you're a Fleetwood Mac fan at all with even the slightest inclination for ballet, I highly recommend. Honestly the only downside to this production was being seated next to the couple that used the intermission to blaze up with Johnny Hopkins and Sloan Kettering. Could have done without the contact high. The production was fantastic on its own.

The entire show was amazing! I ve never seen a ballet but my wife has always wanted to. So when I saw Fleetwood Mac Colection, I thought how perfect, we love them. All 3 dances blew me away. All 3 very different. You can feel the progression in time from Reymonda s Wedding to Fleetwood Mac. It was beautiful! I wanted to go again the next night!

From classic to contemporary all the dances Ballet Idaho performed were a huge delight. I will be sure to enjoy another performance sooner than later. Taking a high school dancer for an early senior graduation experience made it that much more meanigful. Multi generational appeal. Kudos to all the dancers!

The opening piece was lovely with some truly standout moments, especially from the principle dancers. There were more than a few moments where the company was out of sync and it definitely hurt the otherwise good performance. The second segment, Stravinsky's Agon, was spectacular. The precision and feeling of that performance was truly exemplary. The third segment, the Fleetwood Mac, was the one I was looking forward to the most, but I feel like it got lost in the weeds. The costumes invoked some classic looks from the band, but they ultimately were a giant distraction from the dance itself. The piece excelled in expression, but lost definition. The music fade-outs and transitions between pieces were clumsy. There were some great moments and fantastic lighting, but it ultimately felt unpolished and not in an "authentic" way.

The dancers displayed excellent training and knowledge of the 3 pieces of this performance. The modern dance effort that was done with the Fleetwood Mac music was other-worldly. The loud drumbeats of this recorded music seemed to be the result of the dancers' feet stomping, rather than actual drums. Daniel Ojeda's original choreography was exceptional. Raymonda's Wedding was truly stunning. The seven variations each had their own distinct style, but still very traditional dance moves. Agon, by Igor Stravinsky, was a difficult dance, but this ballet company did a marvelous job of expressing the emotions of the music. The final Pas de Deux was like poetry in motion with precise moves on every beat.

This was one of a few Ballet Idaho events I have attended at the Morrison Center and also in their location in downtown Boise. The performances are spectacular! What a great way for my entire family to enjoy an evening or afternoon of culture. They perform national and internationally renowned works. Boise is lucky to have them in our city. Ticket prices are reasonable, I grew up in a larger city where the same quality performance was 2-4x the price. Kudos Ballet Idaho, keep up the good work!

This is the first time I have been to a ballet. The whole experience was amazing. Everything was well ran, there was plenty of personnel around to answer any question and direct us were we needed to be. The show was really awesome and kept the whole family entertained. I also loved that it was a dress up event. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
