Ryan Montbleau Band
Ryan Montbleau is a pure soul singer. Not in the traditional sense. His voice — although a sweet, passionate instrument — isn't packed with Memphis clay like Al Green's or greased with urban sophistication like R. Kelly's.

Ryan Montbleau Band is my favorite band ever. A bit over a year ago, I saw them for the very first time at the Tralf. A friend turned me onto a bunch of their music - I was going through a really crappy situation in my life and their music and lyrics spoke to me. Over the course of 2011 - 2012 I had seen them 9 times in a variety of venues. This time was my tenth time to see them, I thought it was cool that it was also the first place that I saw them. Over time I have become acquainted with Ryan and tweeted to him my favorite song, requesting that they play it as it was my 1st and 10th show. I was so very pleasantly surprised that they did play "Love and Love Lost". It was the only time I'd heard them play it live in all of the shows I had seen and they killed it! I love the Tralf - great staff there, super layout and amazing acoustics. I highly recommend Ryan Montbleau - I can't say enough about them and I certainly recommend the Tralf as a "must go" venue!

Ryan Montbleau really knows how to rock it out. He put on a long show and was high energy throughout. Each band member was great. I don't think the back up singers added anything to the performance.

Ryan Montbleau may be too big for the Duck Room. Sometimes I lost his voice to the music. The musicians were wonderful and I really enjoyed their sound, but Ryan's phraseology and syncopated style should never be overshadowed. We will look for them again in the future.

While catching a show of a friend's band in a small bar in Brighton, MA in 2002, I was luckily enough to see this guy play solo as one of 3 other bands playing that evening. He was just starting out then and I loved the sound then. Caught my first show of the band earlier this year in Northampton, MA and thought, "Wow he's come along way since 2002". Same voice, great lyrics and fantastic sound made they show great. The Showcase Live venue on New Years eve was the BEST show yet. Great sound, great place to see a show and great way to kick off the new year.

This was an unbelievable show! Jesse Dee kicked off the night great, couldn't have asked for a better performance from him and his band. Montbleau was great, kept the momentum going all night. Can't think of a better way to bring in the new year! Hey Jude was an awesome way to end the night, with the whole crowd singing along.

I hadn't seen Ryan Montbleau Band in a few years... they were spectacular. Every song in the set was well-crafted and really engaged the crowd. The opening act, Jesse Dee, was also incredible. Short set, though... I really wanted to hear much more from them! Couldn't imagine a better way to ring in the New Year. I look forward to seeing both acts again!

This was an unforgettable evening!! Loved the venue...the layout of the place was pretty cool! I had a great evening and the staff and bartenders were great! The opening act was Jesse Dee. I had heard of this musician before but had never seen him play live. He was awesome and had the place dancing in no time! I had seen the Ryan Montbleau Band before and they did not disappoint, they rocked the place through to the new year! Loved it!! Also Lyle Brewer and Johnny Trama played with them!! If you haven't seen RMB you need to...they are great musicians and always get the crowd dancing! All in all an amazing evening!

The Ryan Montbleau Band opened for Martin Sexton about a month ago. I had never heard of them. Let me tell you something, they were awesome. During intermission, I bought the CD "Patience on Friday". It has been on repeat in my car ever since. The song lyrics are very difficult to learn, but once you hear the songs a couple of times, you realize that they have tons of meaning. I think you'll dig the energy and beat of the band. I can't wait 'til they return to Colorado in October, 2010.

The five stars and the bottom line don't agree, I know. Read on.. The Brew (opener) was a good band, but a peculiar pairing for the opener. Some people came to see them, then left. Many other did not come until Ryan started. Ryan is more polished than the last time I saw him two years ago. He also plays non-stop for the entire evening. The sound was really good and their showmanship, band included, was worthy of large venues and main attractions. The choice of venue repeatedly took our attention away from the performers. If you sat at the dinner tables, you would not be able to see the stage well. If you were at the stage, as we were, the incessant talking, pushing, and general lack of respect for other listeners and the band was appalling. I can put up with drunks, but not with aggressive people and this venue was full of them. This included people who were younger and older than we were. I won't be back. I will go see Ryan at other venues, however. So I give five stars to the band, zero to the venue.

Every time I see this band they get better, and better, and better. Soulful volcals, thought-inspiring lyrics, and oh my god, the BAND! The rythm section can really work it and play almost any style. Drums, percussion, bass, and keys are the real highlight of their musical side. The viola player adds some nice tones too. All in all, these guys are true professionals pouring their heart and soul into every moment of the music. The venue was pretty cool too. A bit on the swanky side with carpets and modern designs. The sound and lights were phenominal and bar staff was great.

My first time at the Showcase Live. Class place with good sound system and courteous staff. I heard the Ryan Montbleau Band for the first time last year at the Narrows, and it was the best live performance I had experienced in several years. The Showcase gig only reinforced my appreciation for this unique and enjoyable band.

Julian always brings an excitement to the stage. He is a fresh performer full of sarcasm and joy behind the keys. Julian never phones in a performance. He pours his entirety into creating an evening that begs you to think but then slides up behind you and offers you a drink and a dance.

Ryan and the Band, delivered an outstanding night of music. He did tunes off of One Fine Color, some off the newer record and shared a brand new one for the upcoming new record, almost all of them done with that amazing long form, and musically balanced format.

As always, Ryan Montbleau didn't disappoint. Many new/different band members as expected (who were fantastic!) but it was especially great to see Lyle Brewer playing with them - Lyle's backup performance kicked butt as well!! Blue Ocean Music Hall may now be my new favorite venue - great acoustics, seats (table seating!), stage raised up and not level with the floor so my view was unobstructed the entire time. What a night!!

I have seen Ryan Montbleau in many incarnations - with his full band, with just a one other bandmate, solo, fully acoustic, with guest musicians, etc. This was, by far, my absolute favorite RM show. We saw the final show for the full Ryan Montbleau Band at this same venue two years ago, but it paled in comparison to this show's energy, and its set list. I could not have loved it more.

The show was supposed to start at 8pm. After driving 40 minutes to the venue, we realized there was an opener, which had not been indicated on the tickets or the website. By 11pm, Ryan Montbleau till had not gone on (3 hours after the start time) and we left. Never got to see the band we drove over an hour to and from to see. Not sure if this was because of the band or the venue, but overall it was incredibly disappointing and a waste of money.

The show was average...for RMB, but above average compared to most other bands. It is hard not to compare with the old RMB shows that were so lively and energizing. Overall, our group prefers the old sound and even some of my favorites have taken on a new edge that is confusing. The Fast Car cover was incredible and the encore was amazing. In sum, an awesome night.

We really felt torn and guilty going out to enjoy this fabulous show considering what had occurred earlier in the day in Newtown, CT. The crowd was especially joined together this evening and Ryan's soothing voice was just the medicine we all needed. Amazingly the 2 women we met standing next to us were also teachers...we all joined together holding one another as Ryan sang his sweet songs.. an unforgettable evening to say the least.

Ryan Montbleu gives a pretty good show. He is engaged with the audience, which seemed to enjoy themselves. The band has some similarities to Dave Matthews, so if you like Dave, you'd probably like Ryan. The venue was good for a concert, not too crowded and had a good, 30s to 50s crowd of music lovers and ex-hippy types. The drinks were definitely too expensive, though. My only real issue was the length of the concert. It seemed to be perhaps 1 1/2 hours, and quite possibly less.

I've seen Ryan Montbleau twice before, once at Club Passim in an acoustic set and once at House of Blues with the full band. Both were great shows. This one, unfortunately was not and we even left before it was over (a first). Assembly of Dust started off strong but got weird and ended up bringing 3 members of the Ryan Montbleau Band on stage with them, which could have been cool, maybe at the end of the show, but was instead awkward. The sound was off and there were uncomfortable mic issues. Also, and this is more a matter of personal taste, but I hated the guitar that the RMB guitarist on the right used. The tone of the narrow body didn't mesh well with the rest of the band and was both overpowering and distracting. It wasn't a horrible show, but I had high expectations given the previous two shows I had been to and was disappointed.
