SAM PREKOP IN CONCERT:As the frontman for the meditative post-rock band The Sea and Cake, Sam Prekop has been thrilling audiences for decades with his heart-rending vocals and chiming guitars. For his solo performances he brings a completely different but no less inspired presence to the stage, using his fine-tuned ear to create catchy, ethereal sonic tapestries drenched with synthesizers. With his amazing technical mastery Prekop effortlessly converts bobbing melodies into echoing computerized flourishes and dissonant metallic clangs. In early 2015 he returned with his first solo album in five years, The Republic, and he’s playing a number of shows in support of the release, giving fans a chance to experience his minimalistic synthesizer mastery and dazzling arrangements in person.
