Shout Out Louds

Shout Out Louds

This Swedish indie pop quintet was formed in 2001 when childhood pals Adam (vocals, guitars), Carl (guitars) and Ted (bass) realized that, since they all liked the same records, there was (according to their official bio) "really no point in not starting a band." They were soon joined by drummer Eric and female vocalist and keyboardist Bebban, and the fledgling band recorded a three song demo. Their catchy, energetic sound (described as '60s pop infused with '80s and '90s indie rock) caught the attention of Filip Wilén, owner of Sweden's Bud Fox Recordings, and they were signed to the label shortly after. In 2003, they recorded a locally successful EP, 100°, and toured Scandanavia.

It's a great band with lots of melodic songs; casual and storytelling lyrics. The sound was good; lyrics could be appreciated.

The show began with The Franks. They were okay, but sort of unnecessary. Next up was Freelance Whales. In a word - phenomenal. These guys really know how to play. Their music puts you into a euphoric trance. It's crazy! Then, Shout Out Louds played. It was my first time seeing them (I'm a new fan) but they were awesome! The crowd was pretty weak. Even though it was packed, hardly anyone got into it. Their intro was also mind-blowing. I've never seen anything that awesome for an intro. Def recommend.

This band gives everything they ve got when they are on stage, no matter the venue and size of crowd. Adam the lead singer engages with the crowed and brings the emotional connection across in every song. Go and see them.

it started with the band Freelance Whales playing their new LP debut which set up the vibrant among the audience to get ready for Shout Out Louds. Shout Out Louds played all of their hit songs including Fall Hard and Impossible. the Stage set up was incredible. they have the colorful lighting, with smoke is released periodically on the stage. The crowd was cheering all the time and you can't really realize that your time is taken.

They put on a great show. Sound wasn't amazing; my boyfriend, who isn't as familiar with the music as I am, struggled to understand what they were saying. But hey, they're not exactly from around here.

LET ME JUST SAY that last night was a blast. I had so much fun at the concert! They were such excellent performers and did wonderfully on every single song. They were real and fun and modest and alive, and their talent definitely shone through to the fullest capacity.

The Shout Out Louds played the hell out of Webster Hall last night, their biggest show in NYC so far. They had a great, amped-up energy that ran throughout the whole show, staying peppier and bouncier than their recordings, and the crowd loved it, exploding for the final songs of the set and shaking the floor. Everyone left with smiles, even the Shout Out Louds, who genuinely seemed humbled and gracious for the show, taking bows before walking off the stage after the encore. Great.

Shout out louds rank in my top 5 bands. I enjoyed the show immensely- as Ive been dying to see them live and they rarely tour the states. However, their sound was too big for the space. It sounded fuzzy in Webster Hall. The Freelance Whales- who I had never heard before- sounded amazing in the space. Overall, I really enjoyed the show, was happy with the SOL's set list and delighted that I found a new band to follow- the Freelance Whales!

I first heard about Shout out louds a couple of weeks ago and immediately fell in love with their recent album. When I saw that they would be playing at Webster Hall I got tickets right away and loved every song they played. Just have to get their older stuff asap. Great show; very cool.

Amazing. Great set list that was so smooth and free of banter that it felt like a 5 minute show. Even spared us the drawn out encore that is a staple in most concerts. Awesome. The sound was perfect, and the energy high. Freelance Whales also impressed, very tight group, although they do seem like a bit of a motley crew.

The location was a perfect place for Shout out Louds to perform and as well for Haerts opening band. The atomism here was calm and still all exciting. It wasn't too populous and I had hoped for more, but when it got more crazy in there, thank goodness for the elbow room. Hahaha! I'm happy to say this was the best and awesomest experience I've had in a concert ever! Love their music and I fell in love with Haerts too! Can't wait till their album comes out :)

I seriously have no idea how this band isn't selling out amphitheaters and stadiums. Their talented, fresh, energetic; they have chemistry with the crowd and each other. They're great showmen and their music is superb. I have been to countless shows with really great bands and they're definitely one of my top favorites to see. I only wish they had played "Hurry Up Let's Go." I definitely recommend their shows and their albums.

Excellent concert. Great intimate venue where you can really hear, feel and experience the art and artistry. Good, tight performance with plenty of new and old tunes. Everyone singing along. Nice when you feel sometimes that you listen to a band in a vacuum and discover a room full of people who can sing along too. The energy was amazing and there was never a moment where your mind wandered away from the music. Their opening band, Bearstronaut was perfect for getting the crowd in the mood. Similar in energy to SOL and I have already downloaded their music.

The opening band was a little shaky. But Webster Hall fit the Shout Out Louds perfectly. Loud enough to really jam to the faster paced songs and great acoustics for when they slowed things down. Really enjoyed the set list they put together as songs flowed together pretty well.

I had previously heard only a few songs from the Shout Out Louds. My friend loves them so I went with her. I would recommend them to anybody who likes catchy music. The lead singer came into the crowd and was singing for awhile! They look like they like what they do and they were good with the crowd :)

First of all the Franks did not open but Freelance Whales did. FW were surprisingly good! Great opening band choice for Shout Out Louds. I will be checking out FW. Shout Out Louds were pretty much flawless. The set-list was mainly made up of their newest album, which is expected since this tour is promoting that album specifically, and they threw in some older songs that I was extremely happy with - some of my absolute favorites actually. SOL sounded great and they were steady/unshaken as people threw items on stage and when a person from the crowd jumped on stage and stage dove right off into people that were scattering. The lead singer cool and calm after the song, said "I hope the stage diver is ok." Great night, great sound, every piece of the band worked together and it was an amazing night! COme back soon SOL!!!

i was excited that shout out louds were coming to l.a. because i had never seen them in concert. it was awesome! i don't think i can describe how much i enjoyed the concert. i loved every minute of it. i wish it could have gone on into the wee hours of the morning. they mostly played songs from their new album. for their encore they played "impossible" and "you are dreaming," which are two of my favorite songs of theirs. it was perfect. it was a wonderful concert. the only way it could have been better is if the band decided to adopt me and took me back to sweden with them.

Just absolutely phenomenal. The most certainly know how to put on a great show. They get the audience into it, they played a long set, and they sound the same if not better than on their records! If you get the chance to see them, it is definitely something you're going to want to go to- you'll have a blast!

It's always a lot of fun to see the Shout Out Louds. Last night, was my fourth time seeing a live show. They play all their great songs. They put a lot of energy into it. The audience always claps along and half of them. The energy buzzes through the audience. However, it NEVER gets so rowdy that there is a danger of other shows i've been too. So never worry you will have to end up protecting your date or yourself. It's about dancing and clapping along to the great songs with the Shout Out Louds. Beautiful. Always a great show!

I was 1st introduced to this band at the L.A. Detour Festival 10/2007. Not only were they the best 'Cure' sounding cover band that I ever heard that didn't play 'the Cure' songs, but their music stood alone by itself. At last night's show, I still hadn't purchased any of their music, but fancied their performance way back in 2007 and figured, it would be a good opportunity to check out a good, young, fresh sounding band at the El Rey venue. The El Rey is a historical theatre located in a pretty congested place of Los Angeles. I was able to find parking, but was happy that I had tickets to a week night show, as it looks like I wouldn't be so fortunate on a weekend night or a Friday, sold out show. Additionally, like the Wiltern, I would suggest that this venue post signs that gum is not permitted, so maybe people coming to see the show won't be disgusted by getting their gum confiscated. Other than lengthy times between bands hitting the stage and playing their sets, parking and gum control, it was a great night, with great music and with a sporadically enthusiastic crowd. But, I was content with just listening to 'the Shout out Louds' and the wonderfully layered music (w/usage of random instrumentation passed from musician to musician) of 'Freelance Whales' whose wonderful harmonizing and vocalizations really made a big impression on me.

I have no real idea how the Shout Out Louds concert was, because I got sick of waiting for them to just get on the stage and play. I bought tickets to see the Shout Out Louds, and then the Franks got added and then Freelance Whales were added and then some DJ was added. I love a good opening act, but I don't need three. The Shout Out Louds didn't come on until 11pm; the show started at 8. I was so pissed off I left after three songs. As far as an actual review, the DJ was good. The evening was made much more bearable thanks to her. The second opening act was amazing. I'm going online today to buy Weathervanes by Freelance Whales. The first opening act was terrible. The Franks' songs showed some promise with a few good moments, but the lead singer kept whining through the whole set. I don't want to hear your insecurity; I want to hear your music. As for the Shout Out Louds, maybe I'll actually get to hear enough to give a review next time they come into town when the show isn't put on incompetently by LA Weekly. If you have tickets to the second show tonight, don't bother showing up until around 9:45.

So...there was an extremely long wait for the band to finally come out on stage. But from the moment the first flicker of strobe light hit they more than made up for it. One of the best live shows I have seen in a very long time!! At first, they seemed a little bored themselves but once they started playing they came to life. The lead singer is one of the most gracious good looking front men around! He kept thanking the crowd "Shanks, Shank you!" And with a sincere smile, you know he meant it! If his smile isn't causing global warming up North, then I don't know what is! The music was intoxicating and the crowd was drinking it up! In a State where I believe they must consider it to be a sin to actually be seen dancing to music at a concert, even the hard core "cool" people were moving, bobbing, swaying and dancing...No, Shout Out Louds it should be you who are "Shanked"!!!!
