It's not often a performing artist will adapt so readily to their environment. They were upbeat, performed a good selection of songs and even sang a good night song to the animals since they were being hosted by the Minnesota Zoo! The encore was long and they played some of their best hits. The crowd sang along with every one.

Crowded House played their beautifully crafted melodic pop under the stars at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater. The weather was crisp and the band was very sharp. Neil Finn has an excellent voice, which was on display as he sang the intro to some songs only accompanied by his acoustic guitar. He sounded flawless. As much as he is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, he particularly shines as a lyrical composer. He is a wordsmith extraordinaire with a knack for tunes that listeners can relate to on a deeply personal level. The show's highlights include the audience singing along on such hits as "Four Seasons In A Day" "Weather With You" and "Better Be Home Soon". Neil Finn and Nick Seymour interacted with the audience between songs, joking and entertaining us with their witty repoire. All of the members of Crowded House are excellent musicians and their live performance allows Neil Finn and Mark Hart to demonstrate their chops on a multitude of instruments. Guitar, Keyboards, Organ, Synth etc. All the while, Mark Sherrod and Nick Seymour provide a well balanced rhythm section. Overall a great song. They played all of their hit songs and much more. Lawrence Arabia got the crowd fired up with an inspiring set.

Great to finally see this band that I grew up with thru the late 80's.....his voice is strong as ever and they sounded great! A few sound technician glitches no biggie. Played a Great Set List and the show was about 2 hours which was great. I'd see them again for sure!

This hands down was one of the best concerts I have been to in awhile. Neil Finn's voice was in amazing shape and I really enjoyed listening to a lot of old favorites and hearing their newer music. It was really a magical night hearing Crowded House's music next to the Harbor with a crescent moon in the sky. I wish they would come this way again soon. It was amazing!

Great show, second time that I saw them. They played a good portion of their new cd which is very good. They also played all their classic songs and no one left diasppointed. They even played Message To My Girl from Neil Finn's Split Enz days. I was about 15 feet from the stage, that is the great part about going to the show at the HOB. Now if they could just turn the air conditioning up the venue would be perfect!

Crowded House was amazing on July 17. It was clearly a best-of show; the only missing and beloved songs were World Where You Live and Into Temptation. They did Hole in the River, a haunting yet gorgeous song; and also Message to My Girl, the perfect pop song with which the band began as Split Enz disintegrated. My husband and I =both= loved it, and he's not even a fan.

I saw Crowded House before their 10 year breakup at the Club Impaxx in Buffalo, then, after they reinited at both Massey Hall and Danforth Theatre in Toronto (past 2 years). When the tickets were announced at $10 presale, what a bargain!, we snapped them up. Before the show, I kept waiting for the crowd to arrive, but they never did. It wasn't very well attended, but bad for those that missed it, good for us. It was easy to get within 20 feet of the stage, center, and to access refreshments and facilities. It was a beautiful night with a great breeze. The show was typical CH with an unexpected real energy, considering that they probably looks out at the meager turnout. While there were enthusiastic people in the pit, I was almost ashamed that there were alot of people just standing around. The sound and lighting were quite good for an outdoor show. Crowded House has been around for a long time, and they are still relevant, so for those of you that "took a pass", you lost out. The best $10 I have ever spent in my life...at least as far back as I can remember.

Have been seeing CH shows for over 20 years. It just gets better. Fantastic show. Venue fun, fun, fun. Some sound issues worked out as they went. But the emotion in the room, let's call it 'love', was practically palpable: Crowd and Crowded bliss. All good, but Mr. Finn's clarity of voice is so moving, wish the quieter stuff was played more. New releases off 'Intriguer' sounded even better live. 'Amsterdam" was a dream. Was that a cello onstage???

Great mix of new material and early CH songs. I would have liked to have heard perhaps a few more Split Enz songs - but otherwise, I was thrilled with their performance.
As always, an excellent gig from the guys! It's great to see them adding a bit more jamming into the set, and good that they do keep playing the ones we all know! Didn't play Locked Out though!! My first time since Avalon went away and House of Blues went up. I'm glad to see that the floor level has kept all the advantages of the Avalon venue, but the extra floors have added seating space and removed the claustrophobic feeling that Avalon sometimes had.
Only issue was with the venue. CH would have played longer but had to cut it short due to the House of Blues disco or whatever on Saturday nights. Kind of a drag, but the band is fabulous!
What can be said of Neil Finn and Crowded House? Consummate performers, such quality musicians, ultimate professionals. Just wonderful. Excellent job. These are musicians you'd pay a lot more to see, because they are just so good.
Amazing show in a great venue. They played for over two hours and didn't miss a beat the entire show. A great mix of old songs and new songs off their new album.
I've been a fan since the 80's, I saw them back in '93 or '94 (opening for them was some unknown named Sheryl Crow), and they sound as tight and polished now, as they ever have. Neil Finn is truly one of the most underrated songwriters in music, and the band is still one of the best out there. The only downside, in my opinion, was there was slightly too much "jamming" going on in a few tunes. Aside from that, they were amazing. Neil was very personable with the crowd, with the ever-present dry, New Zealand humor.
Crowded House is still one of the best shows I have ever seen. It's still one of the few shows today where you will find the entire audience singing each and every song. I especially enjoyed the fact that they threw in some Split Enz as well.
2 hours of great songs including Split Enz tunes. Played tunes from their new album and old favorites. Banter between songs was fun too,,,

Crowded House and their music and live act gets better and better as the years go by. This band continues to push their musicial talents to magical heights and artistically challenge the bounds of music with experimentally sounds and rhythms. CH always keep the melodies delicious with hints of love, life ,and heartache without the self-lothing after-taste. They always leave your body humming with the beautiful flowing vibrations of music and your mind full of words that fill your whole being with expressions of your life. You ask yourself how does Neil Finn know your so well? No fake sentements here. For me it is like a religious experience, if your soul or heart feels depleted or dull go to a Crowded House show. Well they haven't lost a step. Tight arrangements, perfect vocals in an outstanding early autumn night at the Zoo. Crowded House played a very good mix of top hits, semi hits, new material from their lastest album, and a couple of old Split Enz songs. Finn was funny and engaging with the audiance. The lights looked awesome against the Zoos junglish looking facade. We traveled six hours each way to see them, and it was well worth it. Opening act Lawrence Arabia was unexpectedly outstanding as well. Check them out!

We were blown away at how wonderful Crowded House was. It was one of our very favorite concernts ever! Love, love, love the Finns and their music. So many indellible hits...it was great how the audience was included in parts of it. Seemed like they were a die-hard bunch of fans so it was great to hear them sing so loud and passionately with Neil. The guys on stage actually seemed awed too that they got such a response from us. Crowded House put on a great show. Neil Finn was obviously the star, but I was very impressed with the musical ability of the rest of the band. Members would switch from guitar to keyboards to other instruments easily and expertly. It was my first concert at the Minnesota Zoo. What a great place to see and hear a show! The setting was intimate enough that you felt a part of the experience (unlike a large venue like Target Center) and it was great to be outside as the weather was outstanding. The only negative was the standing-room-only crowd. They started in the back and at the sides of the ampitheater, but within a few songs they made their way to the front. By standing, they blocked the view of those sitting in the first several rows, many who became noticeably frustrated. Security did nothing about it. This did not affect me, but I think many attendees were upset. Overall, a great show at a great place. I highly recommend this concert and will definitely see another show at the zoo.

Crowded House had a poor stage presence. The music was good and the hits were great to see live, but as someone in the foyer said "they didn't seem that into it". I would agree it was like well we got to do what we gotta do. Mic time was lame. Never took a moment to introduce band members well or give us band history status - didn't thank the fans that in my case drove 2.5 hours one way on short notice to see them. So it would be tough to recommend them. I'm glad I got to rock with my favorite songs but the concert lacked rapport with the audience.

Lost count how many times I have seen them. Excellent each and everytime. This was a particularly special one since I took my mum & dad. They havent been to a concert together since the 60's. They put up with me playing CH very loudly during my teenage years, so I took them to the show on their recent visit to San Francisco. Given that my dad does not like noise, or the general public....... he LOVED it. They guys were really impressive, and I want to thank them for making family memories for me that will last forever. :)

crowded house at chateau st. michelle winery was awesome! first of all, this venue is incredible. where else can you roll up with a cooler full of food and wine, lawn chairs and even decorative materials for your spread just to watch a concert? no where else, that's where! neil finn sounds even better than he did when i was a kid and the band was tight. they started off with a bunch of their new stuff, which wasn't too bad and hten eventually got to some more of their earlier stuff including some split enz!!! the encore was all of their catchy, fun danceable stuff from both bands including split enz "i got you" and crowded house's "something so strong". exceeded my expectations by far. had way more fun than i thought i would.

This concert was awesome! The band played their catchy, thoughtful pop/rock setlist with a tightness and vigor that was in complete juxtaposition to their humorous, relaxed, and articulate banter between songs. It was amazing to watch Neil Finn switch seamlessly from electric guitar god to piano player to acoustic-guitar balladeer, all the while carrying each song with a voice that could be sweet or raucous as required. In addition to playing new songs and old CH favorites, they took audience requests (papers thrown onto the stage) and did several Split Enz favorites. Much of the show was a big audience sing-along. The sound quality at this venue (Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery's outdoor concert stage) was excellent. A very comfortable setting too -- if I lived in the Seattle area, I would see shows there often.

What a fantastic show. Not only was the band absolutely stellar musically, but the soundboard mix was amazing. No sound overpowered any other sound. I could hear every instrument, every note, every lyric; a difficult feat to pull off at an outdoor venue. Additionally, the band was extremely cheerful, even conducting an impromtu outdoor footrace around the amphitheater for children... Neil had them do this race right in the middle of their set. Very amusing, and showed how light-hearted and genuinely engaging this band is live. Thanks for an unforgettable show, Crowded House. I should have seen you years ago.

I attended the Crowded House show at Chateau Ste Michelle Winery in Woodinville, WA. First, the venue is really great. It's a "civilized" place where at least most of the people in attendance respect their fellow man. While waiting for the gates to open, you can set down your things in line and go off to enjoy the winery and not worry about it. The show itself was just incredible. Neil Finn is as good as he has ever been in the times I've seen him through the past 24 years. Great new songs on their album, plus dusting off some fantasic old Crowded House as well as old Split Enz! My only complaint - that it ended. :-) Bravo - Bravo!

I wouldn't have called myself a Crowded House superfan before this show. What I knew of them was mostly their big hits from the 80s. But I was blown away by this show. Top, top notch performance, the sound was AMAZING and Neil Finn's voice hasn't changed a bit. In what turned out to be over a two hour performance, they played what I thought were their 2 biggest hits within the first hour...I figured it would be a short show, but boy was I wrong. I cannot recommend this band more highly for a live show. I've been to over a hundred shows in the past 10 years and this has to rank among the top five performances I have seen. Bravo.

Mixing the old favorites with the new and a half hour encore playing unrehearsed Split Enz favorites by request is why I catch Crowded House every time they are in my orbit. First off the venue was great. We had not been to the McMeniman's Edgefield before and we would certainly go again. Great sound quality especially for an outdoor venue and the view of the stage was great even in the lawn general admission section. Even the food was good instead of typical concert fare. Crowded House was outstanding! Great setlist, great playing, great energy and of course Crowded House banter between Neil and Nick. The last time I saw Crowded House was back in '92 or '93 in Atlanta (my home town) at The Roxy with School of Fish opening up for them. At that time I wasn't actually a Crowded House fan and had gone instead to see the opening act. Now I'm a true-blue CH fan. My fiance and I drove about three and a half hours to Troutdale from Bend in central Oregon to see them this time and we had a wonderful evening. I'd never been to this venue which deserves its own set of praises. I'll just say it's a quaint outdoor theater and the weather was perfect. Neil Finn has one of the best voices in the biz and last night the entire band sounded great: crisp, rich, and like I said, Neil's voice is aces-on. They played an even split of new material (last 2 releases) and their classics. I don't own their most recent release but from their second-to-last album Time On Earth they played "She Called Up" and "Heaven That I'm Making." Of the classics we enjoyed "4 Seasons In 1 Day," "Take the Weather With You," "Don't Dream It's Over," "Dust From A Distant Sun," "Fall at Your Feet," "Better Be Home Soon," "World Where You Live," "Pineapple Head," "Locked Out," and my favorite of the evening, "Private Universe." The only song I had really hoped to hear but didn't was "Nails In My Feet" but that they played so many songs from Together Alone, I was a pig in slop. I hoped they would bust into an old Split Enz hit like "One Step Ahead," "6 Months In A Leaky Boat," or "I Got You" but apparently that's just not done, which is a shame (who else is going to do them?) I got up and danced on the lawn and sang along near the end (singing at their invitation to us all) which was super-fun and probably made super-easy by the abundance of McMenamins ales that we enjoyed at $6.00 per beer and $8.00 per wine. To their credit, you never felt they had skimped on portions, but bring some cash with you. With jobs and kids we don't get to go to too many concerts outside of Bend, but we are both so glad we made Crowded House one of our few big evenings out. See them if you can. You'll recognize more songs than you think.

I have been a fan of Crowded House since their first album in 1986, and having seen them perform in 1987 and 1996, am pleased to report that have only grown better with age. Their set was nicely balanced with old and new songs, they jammed and bantered in sparkling Antipodean style - even instigating a footrace between drummer Matt Sherrod and the kids (of all ages) in the audience - and had many singalongs with the crowd of Crowdies. Original drummer & raconteur Paul Hester (RIP) was missed, but the current lineup is spot-on: Matt Sherrod's a fantastic drummer and percussionist, Mark Hart great on guitar, keyboards and some fantastic pedal steel guitar, and original members Nick Seymour (bass) loping across the stage and joking with Neil Finn (singer, songwriter, guitar and keys) who is one of the best songwriters of our times. The venue was equally impressive. I love the Edgefield for its historical charms, beautifully planted grounds & McMenamins whimsy; this was my first experience with their "Concerts on the Lawn" and I was quite pleased with the venue. Easily reached from Portland, theEdgefield Ampitheater enjoys a bucolic setting in the Columbia River Gorge. Screened by pine and poplar trees, the lawn slopes down to the seated section and the stage. The sound is excellent. There are food and drink vendors available throughout the evening. The venue is very family-friendly, and it was a joy to watch parents dancing and playing with their kids as they enjoyed the music together. The band also clearly enjoyed this family atmosphere - hence the Inaugural Portland Invitational Crowded House Foot Race! It was such a pleasure to enjoy Crowded House as the sun set and the moon rose over us. Wonderful night - many thanks, lads!

Wow, what a great concert last night at McMenamins Edgefield in Troutdale, Oregon. Beautiful setting, Great food, good company, the family, and of course great music. Opening act Lawrence Arabia was interesting, have some overtones of The Kinks and Vanilla Fudge, but definitely 2010 updates. Daughter bought their CD, and I will safely say they are a great live band. You figure it out. Crowded House, Crowded House, Crowded House. What can you say about Crowded House. Well, they were as tight as ever, musically talented, are still relevant to today's music scene with the release of their new record, Intriguer. Their portion of the show started around 7:00 PM, under a partly cloudy but bright sky, and finished under the glow of a mostly full moon around 9:30. In between the band played all of their huge hits from the 80's and 90's, a couple of which almost brought me to tears, "Fall at your Feet" from the Woodface album and Don't Dream It's over from the Crowded House album. They also played a number of pieces from their new record and a plethora of other music. There were many children at the concert and the band, Neil Finn I guess, instigated a running race between children under 12 and the band's drummer. It was a hoot and made the evening even more magical. The band easily interacted with the audience, bantering about how to properly say whoo hoo in various regions of the world, to chiding a female fan who fashioned her song requests into a not so successful paper airplane that bassist Nick Seymour faithfully retrieved from crowd. The only thing that may have made this concert even better would have been if Tim Finn had popped out from behind the curtain during the band's encore performance of Weather Without You. I stress may. As far as the evening for my family it was one of the best times we have had as a family ever. At the end of the night Neil Finn said something about the "fxxxing curfew" I think they would have played all night, and not a one of us would have taken a step to our cars. The best was yet to come though, occurred when we got back to our car to leave. Instead of a 3 hour nightmare of stressful back and forth it was smooth, well directed by staff and local police, and we were home in Vancouver in 45 minutes. I could have been even quicker if we had turned right onto Halsey rather than left. I won't make that mistake again!

Crowded House really put on an incredible performance last night. The crowd was filled with people of all ages and I was surprised to see whole families file in and sing along together. Neil Finn was delightful, funny, creative and always easily interacting with the audience and the band. I would love to see them again!

The only downside was the woman in the seat next to me standing up to dance and sing along and standing directly in the view of my wife (we were seated center left), who was sitting because she had an injured foot!

I had a blast at last night's show. The band played all my favorites. The sound was great! They really interacted with the audience well. It was terrific. The ultimate surprise was when they started playing the Talking Heads tune "Once in a Lifetime". There was this off-stage vocal by someone who sounded remarkably like David Byrne, and then there he was, walking on stage and singing. It was fantastic! I band members were beaming and the crowd went wild. What's more they followed it up with my favorite TH song, "Road to Nowhere" harmonies and all. Fantastic!

After almost 3 decades of making music, Crowded House is still as fun and vibrant as ever. Lead man, Neill Finn, comes off as a child who can't help but fiddle away at the piano. While, the band shied away from a greatest hits set list, their propensity to whip up silly improvised songs put a smile on my face.

This is my fourth time seeing Crowded House. They are fantastic to see live and should never be missed! The show was a great mix of old favorites and new favorites. If you have not already bought the new album "Intriguer", go out and buy it now! One highlight for me was them singing, "I Got You" , as I have been a fan since Split Enz days. Worst part of the night: The beginning of "You Better Be Home Soon", because I knew that it was their last song, and I did not want the show to be over already! They really connect with the audience and you will come away with some of your greatest concert memories ever after one of their shows! It was a perfect night, and well worth the drive in from Cleveland!

What a fantastic time. My first impression when I walked into the venue was, how nice! The area is still under construction, obviously, but when it's done it looks like it is going to be just beautiful. The venue was set up smartly, with the ticket booths, then the food/drink booths (prices were quite reasonable), then the bathrooms way in the back. I loved the grassy area facing the stage, very comfortable, and I totally enjoyed the harbor and canal being right there, gave a great feeling of ambiance. Lawrence Arabia and his Prime Ministers ... I was not impressed with them. The songs they played were too slow and boring. And yes, those thighs did bug me; looked like he really didn't care if he was dressed or not. The dude to the left still had his pass on, too, hanging from his neck; that looked sloppy. The opening gal from California, I don't recall her name, just she and her guitar ... she was way better than that Arabia guy. She was simple, direct, cute, great smoky voice, cool songs. I enjoyed her far more. Crowded House were wonderful. No question about it. They apparently had some equipment problems during the set, but that didn't stop anything. They played their way through them like the consummate professionals they are, and even made it funny at one point, when Mark Hart said he didn't have power - loved Neil singing for him to plug into Neil's amp, that was great. The entire set was perfect, starting with some of the oldest material and then launching into Intriguer only 4 days out; great spread of their music, including the two Split Enz tunes which were just excellent. I never once stopped moving, clapping, or woo-ing my head off. Oh, and Matt Sherrod rocks! Absolutely loved it when Nick Seymour would go over and jam away with him. I wasn't sure if I liked Matt because I miss Paul Hester enormously and have always felt nobody could replace Paul ... well Matt, I've decided, is the only one who can. :) All in all, I had a fabulous evening. I will ABSOLUTELY go back for more events at Erie Canal Harbor. As for Crowded House ... I'll see them anytime. I hope they come back soon!

I love these guys. They are Like Old Friends over for a visit! I must say that the evening was a little calmer and more introverted than I had anticipated for this less-common-these-days evening out on the town. I must also confess, however, that I had missed the fact that there was a new album released. I never want my heroes to stop advancing their artistry. Come to find out, this was the direction with a lot of the new material, now that I have listened to the Intriguer CD several times. Let me recommend the Deluxe Edition to any fan who has not yet purchased it, as the DVD reveals the creation of the songs in Neil's home studio. Keep at it, Crowded House. I love you guys and the music you have added to my life. I do not need a greatest hits nostalgia tour to recall why I like you so much. I will be sure to arrive informed for the next tour. Please come back for a visit!

.... IT DOES. From singalongs, to witty banter, to just all-around unbelievable talent, these guys never, EVER disappoint. This is the 4th show of theirs I've been to this tour, and it was one of the very, very best. The great energy was infectious. The audience fed off it, and in turn, they fed off the audience (and so the incredible cycle continued)... Going to repeat myself again: if you haven't seen them live, you haven't lived. The guys were on fire!!!!!! They do a great mix of the old classics and lots of goodies from the new album. They had us singing, dancing and wanting more. It was perfection. ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ ♪ ♫ * The ONLY thing I personally wasn't a million percent happy with was how the venue handled the crowds. We were almost first in line to get in, having eaten at the restaurant to "pass the line," but they were letting people from other lines in, too, so some people pushed ahead of us and therefore got a bit closer to stage.

After seeing a picture of the planned set list, I was slightly disappointed that the audience-provoked Tombstone shenanigans ended up taking the time planned to perform my favorite song from Time on Earth. My ultimate dream is that they will add Catherine Wheels back to the set list. Though, to their credit, they did many songs from Together Alone.

There is no way I could walk into a Crowded House concert and NOT enjoy myself. They put together a nice array of the new and the classics. The "Weather With You" sing-a-long at the end was stupendous. I also appreciated the Split Enz "I Got You". I was hoping to hear "Amsterdam" from Intriguer. But they played so many of their other wonderful songs that I forgive them! Neil Finn just writes great songs....that's all there is to it. Two things that would have made the night five stars instead of four..... First, the opening band was underwhelming in general. A little too mellow to kick things off. Very good musicians, but I wished they had played more of their up tempo selections....if they have them. Second, I do not care much for House of Blues as a venue. With no seating, it turns into an uncomfortable 4 hours of standing. And it wrecks of corporate McConcert. I wish I had known CH was playing the Pabst in Milwaukee before I got tickets. I would have definitely gone there instead.

I've seen Crowded House about 6 times in concert. I go because they do such a good job of interacting with one another, and, bantering with the crowd, too. But more importantly, they're actually one of the better bands you'll see live, to be honest. Neil Finn is absolutely a master song-writer, with lyrics that resonate for everyone. He might be from a small town in New Zealand, but his experiences with his life & relationships are things, even from the other side of the world, you can relate to in some stage of your life. How these guys aren't getting more accolades here in the US is beyond me, but then again, that's how Neil prefers it to be - under the radar. I'd say that about 55%-60% of their music is of a slower tempo. However, with this particular show, they 'rocked out' as best as CH can - they probably only played about 5 of their slower tunes. Played for 2.5 hours, & Matt Sherrod was really free & loose - he jammed & improvised on tunes, which was good. First time he toured with CH he was staying steady, this time, he was way more comfortable on the drums - he even smiled a few times. Neil was dressed in a black suit, looked good, didn't even take off his jacket. His voice is still top-notch, he got rid of that silly mustache, and really jammed on his guitar with plenty of solos. Make sure you see these guys the next time they come up to our hemisphere...

Wow. There are a few bands that seem to transcend time and make an emotional connection with fans that's hard to explain. Fitting right in with the animals (and making constant reference to them as well as excellent imitations of kookaberras), the CH, mach 4, established an immediate connection with the Zoo "crowd" and brought them in to the world where the live. Like an updated Fab Four (ok, only one main vocalist), they did a virtual tour of smart, aggressive and highly listenable pop rock. The new tunes held up, with "Intriguer" being as fine of an album released this year. From the almost reverent "Don't Dream It's Over" to a light hearted (and updated to include Lindsey Lohan reference) "Chocolate Cake", this was intimate, lush, rocking pop music at its finest. Neil Finn, dressed and looking like a modern day Fab was up to the task and I expect will have an open House for years to come, given the quality of this great show and the album (yes it is one) it supports. And did I mention the sing a longs -- I normally think they are dumb, but who could resist? (always take the weather the weather with you.....)
