Northern Illinois Huskies Football

I absolutely enjoyed going to GRF to watch a football game. Much easier to get in and out of over Soldier Field or Wrigley Field and the amenities are even better. It is my hope that they will schedule more football games there in the future.

Great fun with family at the football game. Stadium was amazing. Good job converting baseball field into football field.

The field was great and our seats were in a prime location!

The venue is great. Tailgating was easy and energetic. Lots of stuff for kids to do prior to the game. Too bad the Huskies couldn't pull out the win. That's competition.

Even though the Huskies lost, I still had a great time. They put on a really good show. I really like the band spelling NIU and the school symbol on the field because I have never seen that before and I thought it was really cool. Also I really enjoyed the half time because a bunch of Highschool bands joined the NIU band to play three songs from the movie Grease. The best part of that was when all of the people put down their instruments and did the hand jive. It was an overall good time.

NIU has a great football team. They are the best in the MAC.

Went to NIU Huskies game on Saturday evening. Get time and terrific football.

Nice stadium. Easy in and out. There is alot of parking and no hazzle geting out after the game.

What a game with NIU winning by 3 pts. Parking is easy, $10, by the Convo Center, then a 2 block walk. Suggest you dress warm, as it was a 4pm game, and the weather was windy and cool.

Even though it was VERY cold out. It was a great game. Jordan Lynch was awesome. Huskies are going to the MAC championship game then hopefully to a bowl game :-) Go NIU Huskies!!!

I went to the game with my bro and a couple friends even though it was a very cold night. Dressing in layers, like a regular football fan, we overcame the weather and were fully entertained. We saw a great game and had wonderful cheerleaders along with Diesel, our cool, but retiring, Huskie mascot. Mission will be his replacement. Go to see a game every season at least once.

The MAC Conference had a classic showdown between two elite football teams. NIU and Ball State put on quite an exhibition at a frigid Huskies Stadium on Wednesday night. The temperature hovered around freezing for most of the game. But the wind was constantly gusting between 20 and 30 mph. The game, which was aired nationally on ESPN2, had several long delays. It lasted for more than 3 1/2 hours. The game was still tied at 27 with less than six minutes to play. However, NIU scored three times before the end which sent the freezing crowd home with warm feelings.

A great atmosphere and a great football team!! Better ticket prices than the BIG TEN teams and Da Bears. Best college football team in Illinois!! GO HUSKIES!!

PRO: Good value for the seats. NIU Huskies are putting up a lot of points this year, so there's almost always action in the end zone. CON: They fired off a cannon with every NIU touchdown. Bring a padded stadium seat or a seat with a back.

Jordan Lynch worth the price of admission alone!!!!! Accounted for SIX touchdowns in 2 1/2 quarters of play .... WOW!

Huskie stadium is a great place to watch a game. Every seat is a great seat and it's a nice atmosphere for families.

I was able to take my 8 year old son to our first "father-son" only sporting event and he had a blast. We will definitely do it again.

Attended the NIU vs EIU game on 9/21/13. Exciting college football. Every seat a good one. With I-88, very easy to get to from Chicago. Reasonably priced tickets. NIU football may be the best spectator sports value in the area.

Great venue out at NIU... we had our NIU & EIU children/alumni with us for a fantastic game.

I enjoy Huskie Stadium, not a bad seat in the house. Speaking of seats, keep your ticket stub with you and be prepared for someone sitting in your place. Understandably this happens in bleacher style seating, just be prepared to have to push your way into your seats. Concessions suck since the Convo center took over, be prepared to stand in a long line for limited selection. Good game, half time show was decent. Get your tickets ahead of time, will-call lines are HUGE.

Great game. Unfortunately bus service after the game back to the parking lots was non existent. The game was sold out, school should have been better prepared for the crowds.

I purchased 21 tickets, 3 of the seats were double sold to someone else. The game was a sellout, had to sit 3 people in random seats.

The NIU football experience isbetter than most Big Ten games. The team, fans and everything is great.

I had a great time some scare from the game score but the team survived and the shuttle bus made life easier when you are new to the stadium taking you to and from the game I injoy the experience

Came from Peoria(downstate) and was involved with the Notre Dame high school band. My daughter and her husband from Bryon, Il met me to watch my other daughter in the band. Enjoyed the game. The Huskies were great! The mascot and cheerleaders were fun and excited....and we were among student body that behaved very well. Glad we went! I purchased 3 tickets in this area.

All the yellow made me sick. Otherwise, had a great time. I don't feel there is a bad view in the whole stadium, besides the Miller Light party deck.

Soldier field did a poor job of hosting, the sound didn t work for the first half and the food and drinks were way over priced the venue is nice well kept and the history was great looking at the walls with all the info about the old bears players. Parking near the event was over 50 with one lot over 100 again very overpriced.

Third Soldier Field Showdown. Great venue for college football. Unfortunately, 31st lot was closed. No warning. Tough to find an alternative without warning. Should have been noted when buying tickets.

I had an excellent seat on the north end of the west side of the stadium. I got to see my Huskies throttle Kent State 24-3. Bathrooms and concessions are easily accessible and parking was plentiful and reasonably priced. Overall, a great Saturday afternoon and I will definitely be back to Huskie Stadium.

Loved seeing the first ever football game at Sox field! I hope they have more games there, especially NIU games! Great time!

It was really cool watching my NIU Huskies playing football on my Chicago White Sox baseball field. It has never happened before and it was different to see. There should be more football games here during the office season.

Sox Park did a fantastic job with the layout of the football field. Looked great and the seats were close to the field. Fantastic time! I hope Sox Park does this again!

It was a very exciting game. The seats were great. Thje field was great. They should hold more football games there. It was a disappointing turnout.

It was very cool to watch a football game in a baseball stadium. As always the venue is a great fan friendly experience. I hope to see more football games at White Sox park in the future.

Way overpriced for a college game in an empty stadium. Maybe Northwestern vs Illinois or Notre Dame next time.

Event was great - even though the attendance was low due to the Cubs game (which they won!). Initially I got tickets to the West side of the field, but we wanted to sit on the East side and the staff accommodated this for us - thank you!

If you haven't been to an NIU homecoming game lately you don't know what your missing. I highly recommend tailgating before the game and a walk through the beautiful campus. The weather was gorgeous and the stadium is really first class. Well done NIU!

Getting to the game & parking was easy & familiar. You get in a brisk walk between the parking lot & stadium. Along the way many friendly tailgaters playing games, listening to favorite music & having a great time. Of course they are cooking, with aromas ranging from BBQ to casseroles to sweet treats it kept us in a cheerful state of mind. Arriving at the stadium, we quickly found our gate & got in. Inside were many diehard fans talking up their team & how they were going to win. With many food selections it was hard to choose but eventually had pizza, nachos & pretzels. The stadium was comfortably packed as this was the start of the season & realtively warm. Both teams had their moments to shine & it was tied up at the end of regulation. NIU put up a good fight but eventually lost on a third overtime Michigan TD.

The weather was gorgeous. The setting was beauatiful. The play of the two teams invilved was pitiful. At least 4or 5 unsportsmanlike conduct penalties were called. All of which were unneccesary.

The tailgating scene here is great. People grilling out and playing bags while drinking beer and soda...pretty standard but cool to experience. I would recommend visiting "The Yard" if you get a chance for live music and entertainment. The game itself was great featuring a lot of great action and a comeback win for the Huskies. The fan base is very excitable and intense during the game. Great atmosphere.

Huskie stadium is always fun and such a nice experience. Parking is easy to find and NIU makes the games so much fun.

Always a good time at Huskie Stadium. Homecoming. Great weather. Large, vocal student cheering section. Fun. Love Game Day experience in DeKalb. You messed up if you weren't there. Just too bad they lost. No post game entertain kind of ended the day on a low.

Northern just did not come to play on Saturday afternoon. Eventhough they scored first, they played from behind for the rest of the game.

The game was exciting and fun. My family had a great time.

A pretty good time. Most fans in general admission stand the whole game, which I don't want to do. We switched to the top of the stadium, where we could see better. Up there, the prairie winds are stronger and it was a cold day. I wish they wouldn't blare loud music so much. I had to scream in my friend's ear just so he could hear me.

Pre-game music was very loud and obnoxious. Then when game began, you could not hear the announcer throughout the game.

Great overall fun experience. Concession stand food wasn't great and bathrooms were horrible. Men's room still has the old horse trough style for peeing. I thought this went out in the 60s.

NIU's football stadium provides a good view of the action, pretty much anywhere you sit....good quality football, for tickets that run between $20-$30 apiece, which is very reasonable.....good parking nearby....a good all around experience

Although the weather was bad the game it self was very good. Northern Illinois was in control from the start and the outcome never seemed in doubt. The seats were good but we had to stand the whole game as the people in front of us refused to sit down, but I guess that's what you get in the student section.

Went with my son, Jered, who attends NIU. Sunny but cool day. We sat close to the band. Game was great....NIU won. Band was full of spirit.

I am a KU fan so was bummed we left. I am not a huge fan of the stadium as it reminded me a little more like a high school rather than college stadium. I have not been to many D2 stadiums though.

Soldier field is a great place to see a football game, especially college football.

I like the fact that NIU has been given opportunities to play at Soldier Field, I think their football program deserves it. I believe this was their third game there in the last 5 years, but this was the only one where I felt the traffic managers and parking was a complete mess! How can a city like Chicago and a stadium like Soldier Field be so unorganized? It was a 2:30pm game, my group got down there at 10:50am in hopes of parking and tailgating. Last year, when NIU played Wisconsin, we did the same thing with no problems. This year, the main south lot was "coupons" only, and we were paying cash again. The signs they had on Lake Shore Drive didn't help, and if you followed the signs, they led you nowhere to park. Three times I asked a traffic official where we needed to go, and three times we got different answers that were wrong. We spent an hour driving around the stadium and all of the museums there, and when we finally got to a distant outside parking lot (that we were told we could go to) the attendant said it was full! We had to settle ( and were lucky) to find parking in an underground parking garage, but we couldn't tailgate or grill our food, and we were away from all of the live outdoor action. We were very disappointed. The rest of the event was fine.

A great MAC vs Big Ten matchup. This was the third year in a row that a game like this has been played at Soldier Field. NIU could have used more fan support. Almost all of the 52,000 fans were Iowa Hawkeye fans. I got sick from seeing so much yellow in the stands. The Score pack was great. My family and I got to see great football game at a good price. Special thanks to the Score radio station for making this happen. I will definitely mark my schedule for next years matchup. Being the first time to Soldier Field, I didn't know what to expect. We thought that every seat in the stadium seems to be good. The stadium seemed to be much more confined than imagined.

It's football and it's college football at Soldier Field. I had a great view of the city and the game on the field was amazing. I highly recommend getting out to see a college game.

The atmosphere was awesome on Saturday at Soldier Field, but one thing that was terrible was the sound system. You couldn't hear anything the whole game, and what you did hear was nothing but static. Would have been nice to hear the referees and the announcer. But, overall it was awesome, and the Hawks came out on top! Go Hawks!

Soldier Field is a terrible venue. PA System did not work at all for the first half--and the sound was muffled in the 2nd half (think Charlie Brown's teacher). On top of that, the Parking in the South Lot is overpriced for what you get, which is the privilege to stand in line for 5 Porta-Potties for the entire lot, so you end up paying $54 to stand in line for 45 minutes! Not cool. The quality of the concessions also leaves a lot to be desired. I've been to a lot of games in professional and college stadiums...I know what good "game food" tastes like--and the food at Soldier Field is not up to par.

We had a great time at Soldier Field watching the Iowa Hawkeyes play against Northern Illinois. It was a great venue. There's a lot of history at Soldier Field and it was fun getting to experience some of it.

The game was great and the fans were awesome. Both teams had a really good showing. The sound system didn't work for the entire first half of the game. You had no idea how many yards were gained on the play or who the penalties were on, etc... The tail gating scene was terrible. You have 30K+ people hanging out in the parking lots before the game and only have a handful of facilities. We had a few people that were in line to use the restroom for over 40 minutes. I just expected a lot more from a professional stadium. Do better Soldier Field, this isn't your first time at the rodeo.

Awesome not a bad seat in the stadium. Got to see my college team play in my pro team's stadium and win in Hawkeye thrilling fashion. GO HAWKS!!!!

Soldier Field is a joke for college game. No PA for first half. Parking lots were much better managed than 5 years ago. Attendants were nice this year!!

Soldier field is awesome. There is not bad seats. I enjoyed sitting in the endzone and could see everything.

We enjoyed the game even though we took a disappointing loss. Our seats were good and we could see the game well. Iowa fans around us were courteous and of course excited on their end of the game win. We would recommend going to NIU Soldier Field Football.

We had a great week-end in Chicago and Soldier Field.

It was disappointing that a professional football stadium could not get their sound system to work for practically the whole 1st half. Other than that it was a great event!
