Yolanda Adams

Yolanda Adams

With four Grammy awards and eight million albums sold worldwide, Yolanda Adams is considered one of the greatest gospel performers of her era, achieving a level of success outside of her genre that few other gospel artists have experienced. After singing in several local Houston choirs as a child, Adams made her debut as a solo artist in 1988 with Just As I Am. The album was initially criticized for its fusion of jazz with traditional gospel, but the unique sound soon became her trademark. She hangs with the best while on tour, making worldwide stops throughout her career and performing to sold-out arenas of thousands of ticket holders.

Awesome show! My only concern is that there should be intervals when latecomers are seated. That constant flow of latecomers not only disrupted my enjoyment but it also distracted the performers.

Yolanda Adams has a fabulous voice and briings so much energy to ther stage. My only wish is that the concert would have lasted more than one hour. I think she was only able to sing 4-5 songs. Would have loved to have another hour.

Yolanda Adams was wonderful in her performance at the IP Casino and Resort. I really enjoyed hearing about her personal experiences before and after her songs. In this time when you here so many negitive things, I believe it's uplifting to everyone to here some positive stories. I only wish her performance lasted longer. Maybe this can send a message to other gospel artist that it's not where you perform its the message that you relay. You could be singing gospel in a club and may touch someone in a special way. Great job Yolanda!

I was disappointed. She was on stage only 1 hour and 30 minutes of that was testimonials. It appeared that she was surprised when she realized she was out of time. For the cost of the ticket, I didn't get my money's worth.

Don't know if it was the acoustics of the venue or where we were sitting but sound was a problem. It wasn't very clear and there was the problem of the instruments being louder than the vocalists. You could see that the artistes were singing their hearts out but they couldn't be heard very clearly where I was. However enjoyed the well-known songs. It was also nice to see Larry Jones and Marcus Wiley although would have liked to have a heard a little bit more from them. It appeared they were just marking time until Yolanda came out. There was a positive atmosphere and would want to experience something similar again but for the money, I'd want more of a balanced sound (more vocals) and if in a large location, more use of screens to enable better visuals. Dottie Peoples was amazing!

I really enjoyed this event. However, Yolanda Adams did not perform long enough and I was very disappointed. First of all the concert was set for another date and then changed to 9/11/09. I brought my Mom with me and wanted to make sure she had the opportunity to see Yolanda but that did not happen. Then my Mom misplaced her key and we had to wait outside the Civic Center for the tow truck to come. Once the tow truck got there we didn't get home until around 1:45am. Bottom line I feel like I was robbed spiritually but everything happens for a reason.

Dottie Peeples and Bishop Morton made this a worthwhile experience. Yolanda Adams (my usual all-time favorite gospel artist) was a HUGE disappointment. She sang maybe two songs, preached, and then abruptly left the stage with a "sorry" when she was told that time was up. Again, Dottie Peeoples and Bishop Morton were a HUGE blessing that night. If it were not for them, the night would have been extremely disappointing.

the celebration of praise was great - until yolanda adams (the main person) came out and talked more than she sang. She only sang 3 songs, and none of them were her "oldies but goodies". When she said she had to go, i thought she was kidding. everyone in the audience was kind of like "it is over, for real"? "you've got to be kidding me after eagerly waiting 2 weeks for the show (and spending $100 for 2 tickets) my husband and I were extremely disappointed that the main artist didn't give us "oru money's worth". We enjoyed the evening, but i would not pay to see yolanda adams again (and she has always been one of my favorite gospel singers)

I usally see Ms. Adams whenever she comes to the ATL, but this was so shocking to see her perform last eveing. What a let down this was so me, since we sent $112. What happen ! The evening went well and was quite inspiration in the begining. Various acts before Dottie Peoples" performance were trully uplifiting. Dottie and Bishop Paul S Martin really entered in the spirit of praise and worship. However, Yolanda Adams perfomance was dissappointing. Though she spoke words of wisdom between each of the 3 performances and think she went overboard and where her fans wanted to hear her sing we had to hear preaching instead. It could be the reason why she went over the alloted time for the concert and abruptly the lights were turned on and she was stunned by it and so was I I truly love the Yoland Adams and family morning show but this was a singing concert. I can't say I would not attend the event next year but I would be more cautious if she was on the program as to what her platform was going to be...perhaps she should have performed the entire concert and therefore getting the time she needed for "wisdom speaks" and singing

The concert was wack, i felt like i could have have spent my money on something better. I was so exciting to go because i thought i was going to have fun and dance all night long, but it turns out to be just the opposite, they had those church choir goup singing ( if i wanted to hear them i would have visit their church). It just was not what I was expecting. Thought for the future, sing hip musisc people can dance and sing too.

I am on a fixed income and although i couldn't afford it, I spent over $75 on the event and I'm happy i wasn't accompanied by anyone for I would have been truly embarrassed to have wasted someone's time. I hope the event touched the heart of someone in attendance however, i left feeling less than spiritually touched and even less entertained. I blame myself for my disappointment because I allowed myself the expectations of a wonderful evening. Unable to afford any other events this year I'll be content with the radio and my gospel CD collection. However, Yolanda Adams will forever remain the healer of my heart.

Larry was an excellent Master of Ceremony! Yolanda was to be the headliner but time ran out and she sung only 2 songs neither of which were her biggest hits-that was the biggest disappointment. Dottie brought the house down! Others were very good as well but without knowing the name of the artist it would not do them justice to make mention here. The entire show was first rate, I was surprised that the show was not a sell-out. More advertisement should be done in the future.

The best part of this show was Bishop Paul Morton and Dottie Peoples. Yolanda Adams was very very disappointing. It is clear she is not interetesting in singing anymore. GLO was excellent and a nice different touch. Mr. Rodgriguez was hilarious. David Mann was fantastic and very entertaining. Tamala Mann was anointed and led us into sheer worship (even with a hoarse voice). Yolanda Adams was very disappointing. She started out talking poorly to the sound technicians. She never moved out of one spot on the stage. But the straw that broke the camels back was her singing to tracks. We expected and paid for LIVE MUSIC!! I was even more bothered that she did not even have musicians to remain on stage to "pick her up" if the Holy Spirit moved. The worst part was that she did an excessive amount of talking rather than singing. Her portion was BORING and I think the large pockets of people walking out while she was on stage speaks for itself. Honestly, my soul was totally satisfied after Tamala Mann.

I was a bit worried after reading the reviews from this show in Louisina, but I am soooo happy I went. The sound issues they were having there were obviously due to that facility's faulty equipment. We were in the 3rd row and it was definitely not loud. All singers were amazing! I wondered why Yolanda didn't bring a band with her, but after she got halfway into the first song I forgot all about that. The entire concert, from the poetry, to the comedians, to the singers, it was truly an uplifting experience!!!

The show was great! The host was funny, and the spoken word was great. Then out comes "Mr Brown"! Hilarious! Tamala Mann has an awesome voice and she really ministered to the audience in song. I know that Yolanda Adams was the headliner and her voice was amazing , but her use of cd tracks instead of a band was a bit disappointing. Also she stood in one spot the entire performance which got dull at times. Overall it was a great evening. The Mann's have to come back soon!

David & Tamela Mann were excited to be here in San Antonio and their performance proved that. They brought their A-game; fired up for the Lord. David was funny as always and Tamela used her voice the Lord bless her with. Yolanda; that's another story... years ago I saw her in concert w/ Kirk Franklin and Mary-Mary, Kelly Price, Rizen.. so I am expecting her to give a better performance because she is headlining. Didn't happen; I could have stayed home and listened to her cd's...well...no maybe not because then I would have missed David & Tamela. If there is a next time I will have serious reservation about attending.

I love everyone that performed; however, I think I set my expectations very high because of Yolanda being in the "spot light" all the time. I would have liked to hear more songs from her and if she would have had her backup singers I think that it would have sounded much better! She didn't even sing "Open My Heart"........ The stage was boring and each singer lost the audience a few times. I know we all were there to worship God and give him all the glory but I just expected more. James Fortune and FIYA was AWESOME!! The praise was on point with them! James was the only one introduced his group. None of the others introduced the background singers nor the band. I do like the fact that they all had "LIVE" music/band there. I love a live band and that made it more personable. Thanks for that! Overall, I don't think that I would pay to see them again but I'm happy I went to know that I've seen them in concert at least once.

See the title :) I was introduced to all of the opening artists for the first time, but they certainly made an impression -- let's just say that over the weekend I bought a lot of cds. I'm glad I went. I noticed a lot of empty seats -- enough that when there were people sitting in the rows I'd purchased, the usher moved us to better, closer seats with no possibility of conflict. That tells me that I wasn't the only one who judged the ticket price steep, but also that Good Friday in New Orleans is not the best time to compete for sales to an event like this.

Jessica reedy's music overpowered her tiny voice. Not just her but all of the sound was loud and sometimes you can't understand the words which was important. She was alright but to me she wasn't Sunday's Best. James Fortune was great. He encourages us with his words and FIYA was on fire with their songs each and every one of them are talented. The performance was touching you felt it in your soul and you had to get out of your seat. Detrick Haddon was unique because I loved him better with his own band more than the C.D. not to say its not great but he took over the stage and the spirit was flowing. He made you dance. Yolanda Adams was beautiful. Love her and her music but the fella's stole the show. I look to many in the audience when she came out and its like the spirit was gone. Her voice is powerful but I think here in new orleans we don't react well to slow songs we like to dance! I felt the same thing when other musicians came to town so its not just her. Overall the show was awesome I definitly will be going to the next one and will tell everyone about it.

I loved the performance of all the artists, but there was too many people standing! I was sitting next to an elderly couple who wasnt able to stand that often... i know that church-goers, especially ethnic, are always standing in Church. And praising God is beautiful, but have some respect. There should have been an announcement for all that wants to stand and shout to proceed to the aisle! And another thing, yes it is your money and you should be able to leave when you want But it is just down right Rude to leave in the middle of someone's performance. Many people starting leaving before Marvin Sapp was done with one of his Greatest Hits! I guess they were trying to beat the flow of traffic??? Not a good reason and Rude! The performances of all the artists were Superb and the Host was hilarious!!!

I came to the Gospel show with high expectations, Donne and Yolanda are two of my favorite and I have never heard either in person. The showed started right on time and immediate the women in front of me stood up through the entire 1st number blocking my view. But I held it it. Donnie and Yolanda put on a very personable performance taking turns on stage and talking to the audience. Which I thought was different and great. Got to see the personal side. The downer was the fans in the audience with Cell phones all over the place recording the entire show. It was HORRIBLE, distracting and rude. How and why does the Apollo allow this. Glaring cell phone screens all during the show. For that reason I gave it 3 stars. Maybe a more sophisticated venue would not have tolerated this. Be Warned if you want to see what you paid for.

This event was wonderful, Lonnie Hunter was super as always all the acts were great, would like to have seen more of James Fortune, & While it was a highly Holy Ghost filled moment my kids didn't think they saw enough of Tye Tribbett

We had a awesome time the clark sisters turned up the heat with theirs songs also j. fortune was very good. disappointed that ty tribett did not sing any of his songs. why? other than that the show was the greatest. Thanks to Lonnie Hunter, donald lawrence was the BOMB.

It was a blessing. The spirit was high. The show kept moving between sets which kept your interest level up. Well rounded list of performers.

I might have enjoyed the show more if the correct start time had been advertised. Ticketmaster sent me tickets with a start time of 3PM and listed on their site that the doors would open at 2PM. Praise 103 radio station advertised most of the week that the doors opened at 3PM and the show started at 4PM. I got there at 3:40 PM and was advised by a man on a bullhorn outside the gate that there was a misprint on the tickets and although the venue was open, the show would not start until 5PM. After wating in the hot sun for hours the show finally started. No shade, long lines at the concession stands and the wrong time listed made for a dismal experience.
