Old Crow Medicine Show rocked my soul!! I absolutely love them and have for years but this was my first time ever getting the chance to see them perform live and it was truly AMAZING!! The House Of Blues was a fantastic Venue made the show feel a little more intimate. I was so close to the band and I still have goosebumps thinking about it!! Truly love O.C.M.S.!!! Best night of my life!

Old Crow puts on a fantastic high energy show well worth traveling to see. Band has a full crew of talented musicians. Audience at this particular venue seemed a strange mix of fans like myself and people that did not seem to know who they were there to see. Doubt Old Crow will perform that casino again. I will definitely go see them again when they are near my area.

Solid show, tremendous energy from all the acts. Having 15 musicians on the stage all jamming was really fantastic.

I've seen OCMS once before at the Filmore in San Francisco. While the venues were comparable, the show was not. I came last night expecting to see Old Crow live, instead I got some jam band session with too many instruments. The musicians seemed like they were having fun, but the quality was lacking. When five or fewer musicians were on stage, the acoustics were great, and the energy was high enough without sacrificing the purity and clarity of the music. Overall the concert had good energy, the musicians were undoubtedly very talented, but I wanted to see more Old Crow, and way less of the a-melodic Felices (sp?) Brothers.

Great show all around. It runs a little long at over 3 1/2 hours, but you get to see a mingling of all the acts playing with each other throughout the evening so it is always fresh and exciting.

Well. the "Big Surprise Tour" featuring Old Crow Medicine Show, The Felice Brothers, Justin Townes Earl, and The David Rawlings Machine w/ Gillian Welch kicked off last night at The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.(New Hampshire's premiere live music and entertainment venue)and i would say that the tour most definitely lived up to it's name. The show began with EVERYONE from all of the bands on stage playing a moody, almost haunting song that seemed to be written on the spot with repeating lyric "it was the day of the big surprise" there were two banjos an accordian, three or four guitars,a mandolin, a drummer, washboard, two fiddles, pedal steel, keyboards, stand up bass, etc...just beautiful man, 15 people on stage in all...then they all left the stage except for Justin townes Earl, his mandolin and pedal steel player, and the bass player from OCMS..they went on to play some of the purest, simple but sweet country music I've ever seen performed...three or four songs later my friend turned to me with a look of awe on his face and said "why does everyone wanna make songwriting so complicated?" I just shrugged my shoulders and kept on smiling...next Earl brought out the Felice Brothers...which included a drummer, accordian player, guitarist and a fiddle...the enerygy level was rising as the felice brothers' lead singer/guitarist was channeling early Dylan...they played a song or two with Earl, and then were left on their own for a few songs and they really got the crowd going...they were definitely the most "electric" band of the night as far as drums and electric guitars...they had a couple mellow numbers that were pale in comparison to their rocking songs, but that made for a perfect smoke break...to finish their set, a couple guys from OCMS came out and did two or three songs and it was time for a well deserved break (must have been 110 degrees in that place last night) A toke or two later the second set started up with just David Rawlings and Gillian Welch on stage. they did some incredible singing...one tune "I Hear Them All" was hilighted by a "This Land is Your Land" jam in the middle. I was beautiful to hear almost everyone there singing along with that one...They were also joined by a couple members of OCMS for a few tunes including an amazing version of Dylan's "Queen Jane Approximately"...it was a quiet set overall, but when everyone joined them at the end of their set it was really picking up speed..and i must say that i have never seen ANYONE play the EVERLOVING shit out of a little classical guitar like this David Rawlings did...finally it was Old Crow's turn to really own the stage...and when they did the crowd was in a foot-stomping frenzy! I mean during one tune "Hard to Tell" I have never seen so many white people dancing in my life! OCMS continued to blast though some crowd favorites like "Caroline" and "Down Home Girl" and by the end EVERYONE was back on stage to close it down with a rousing version of "Wagon Wheel" and a superb version of Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay".....I don't know what else to say about this incredible show except that i wish that everyone who ever told me they don't like country music was there to witness it.

We traveled with another couple from RI to see Old Crow and was very, very disappointed to find that they had their other bands playing with the them the WHOLE TIME. Old Crowe is an amazing band and we will go back to see them however they need to play their own music. I didn't pay to see a jam session with bands they like. I paid to hear Old Crow play Old Crow music. I think they played maybe 5 of their own songs. Again what a disappointed to travel all that way for that.

David Rawlings, Gillian Welch and Old Crow were outstanding. They need to dump the rest of the show and do all of it themselves. The "youngsters" who opened for them and made a nuisance of them selves at times on the stage were not what I went to hear. The Old Crows and Welch/ Rawlings were wonderful. They did all the best songs and we could have listened to them all night! Lots of spontaneity - I highly recommend the second half of the evening.

We have been fans of Old Crow Medicine Show for years, have been to see them several times and each time had an incredible experience, so you can imagine our surprise when we were accosted by the cacophony that emanated from the stage as the Felice Brothers held us hostage for almost two hours before Gillian Welch came on rescue us. Justin Townes Earl was very enjoyable and made the first half hour of the show the perfect segue for the same type of bluegrass melodies that we had come to expect from OCMS. Gillian Welch, with her beautiful voice, was also an act worth paying to see. However, the band that ruined the entire evening and seemed hellbent on not relinquishing the stage to the more talented musicians waiting in the wings were the questionably talented Felice Brothers. They didn't seem capable of being able to stick to a genre long enough to complete a song. One band member had all the makings of Jack Black's character in School of Rock, you know, the guy who kept jumping around the stage and bumping into his bandmates, much to their annoyance. I began anticipating him being thrown off the stage. MUCH TO OUR DISAPPOINTMENT, we left early, before OCMS even took the stage, we were beginning to doubt that they ever would. Again, we have been huge fans for years, have all the CDs, know all the lyrics, and have fond memories of watching these INCREDIBLY talented young men give a performance that left you feeling as though you had just witnessed the reason why these instruments were created. But not just that, you knew they truly loved to entertain, putting on a good show was what it was all about. I am happy I have those memories to keep with me, I hold out hope that next year they will tour alone.

This was my first time to the Sumtur Ampitheatre, and will definitely not be the last. We had front row seats at this awesome venue. The sound was amazing! Devil Makes Three was the opening act--and while I wasn't completely familiar with all their music--I am now a big fan. OCMS--is by far one of my favorite bands to see. They are so entertaining-- you can't help but tap your foot--or just plain break out in dance when you hear their music. Their set list was amazing with old and new & a few covers thrown in. I will definitely see them again somewhere--sometime!

Simply stated: If this band comes to your town, get a ticket. With extreme prejudice, I can say that if you are a lover of live music then this show is a must see. As part of a two night stand for New Years Eve, the show on the 30th was amazing. With the ghosts of the revered music hall both present and honored throughout this cavalcade of gospel, country and roots americana, this a musical experience that left me amazed, moved and wanting more. The Old Crow Medicine Show is a bright star in a world of homogenized and over-processed music with overused tailgate, dirt roads and cut-off jean cliches. Go see them!

High energy, high octane bluegrass on steroids! Great live band-great musicians. Opening act was Dom Flemons- really interesting musician of American roots music.( cool when he played the bones). Old Crow played a-lot of cuts off there new album which was really good music. All the classics except "I Hear Them All" :-( Overall I would defienatly recomend seeing Old Crow Medicine Show. There live performance is outstanding! As for the Alabama Theater - I love the look and feel of the venue, just wish the sound was better. I have seen Nickel Creek and now Old Crow there and the sound is really bad at times. Acoustic sets are ok but when you crank it up it is really distorted and hard to listen to at times.

The opening act of shovels and played a really good set. I really wished that they could have played a few more songs before ocms came out. The main act of ocms put on a tremendous show. Their stage presence was among the best I've seen at a live show. All in all I thought both acts were very entertaining and were the 2 remaining acts I wanted to see this year, so to see both together was great. I am a recent fan and decided to take my wife to see OCMS. Neither of us have spent time with bluegrass, and our listening experience with folk music has been limited to Emmylou Harris and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (I know, we're old). From the moment they stepped on stage, OCMS exploded with an exuberance that reached the last fan in the last seat. These guys could hold their own with anybody! They meld ENERGY with amazing MUSICIANSHIP that pulls you out of your seat from the word GO. The only time I was disappointed was when they had to quit...and I get it, all good things come to an end. GO SEE THIS GROUP, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

The show was incredible being there is so much talent in the group. The only reason I didn't give all 5 stars was that the venue was so dirty. I understand it's old but I've been to so many historical theaters that have been kept up with but Uptown was far from that. If they are going for the run down look they nailed it!

Another concert where the instruments drown/obscure the lyrics.....particularly the Wheeler Brothers. OCMS seemed to be in a hurry....mucho rapido.......tempo a bit too fast. Really enjoyed Cory Younts dancing. Miss Willie Watson as part of OCMS. Drove 600 miles round trip. Concert was too lound and too fast in tempo for my taste but still enjoyed seeing OCMS for the 1st time.

The venue of First Merit Event Part was beautiful. Not a bad seat - reserved or general admission. The staff was attentive and helpful. The opening act - Matt Anderson - was superb! He can sing and play guitar with the best! He provided 45 minutes of humor and music. OCMS was the best concert I have attended in years. I love Bob Dylan, but had never seen Old Crow Medicine Show. Dylan lyrics with a bluegrass twist and I can definitely proclaim OCMS has added another fan. This band has incredible energy and loves to perform. They took turns singing lead and even traded instruments at times, which is not something I regularly see at concerts, but these guys are truly multi-talented! A big shout-out to lead vocalist, Ketch Secor, who really hit it out of the park. Once they finished the Blond on Blond album, they played a set of their own music including, of course, Wagon Wheel. This was the best concert I have ever been to and I've been to more than 100! I was the very front row standing. They all looked like they were having a blast up there performing. Blonde on Blonde is one of my favorite Dylan albums and I would listen to it repeatedly through my high school years (about 17 years ago) so I knew every lyric and it was amazing to hear this performed live. This isn't an easy album to memorize all the lyrics , especially on the longer songs but they nailed it!!!

This show was phenomenal! Both bands had so much energy and delivered amazing performances. Brandi and the band were incredible as always, this being my third time seeing them. However, I only knew one Old Crow song going into the concert. That didn't change how much fun it was, I danced to every song! Loved it!

As a last minute idea for a great date night, we bought tickets. I did not tell hubby where we were going until almost there. He love the show! The opening act, Parker Millsap was good, but the mix was bad - OCMS is great show band. I highly recommend you see them when you can. We are not drinkers, so sitting near a bunch of drunks was a little disturbing. One lady directly behind us talked through the whole show. Never shut up. And LOUD, to be sure her friend could hear her over the music. LOL I wanted to say, sure, I spent $100 on tickets, drove two hours here and will drive 2 more home, to listed to stories of your kids ball game and what you had for lunch. OCMS did one encore song. Country Roads, of course. Great job! Thanks OCMS.

My husband and I saw these guys for the first time at Farm Aid in Chicago just this past September. After only a half-hour, we knew we had to see them again. We found out that they don't tour that much, but, as house band at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, they would be playing full concerts there New Year's Eve and also the night before since the New Year's Eve show sold out so quickly. We got tickets for the New Year's Eve eve show, planned our trip from Wisconsin to Nashville, and I ordered their five full-length CDs from Amazon. Listening to the CDs before our trip, the school teacher in me was quite surprised and somewhat taken aback by the fact that a large proportion of their songs deal with drugs, sex, and prison. (I apparently hadn't been catching many of the lyrics at the Farm Aid show.) I somewhat reluctantly grew to love these songs, however, and by the time we saw them at the Ryman, my favorites were these songs about drugs, sex, and prison: "Alabama High Test," "Brushy Mountain Conjugal Trailer," "Methamphetamine," and, of course, "Wagon Wheel." Their performance was nothing short of outstanding! All these guys are extremely talented on multiple instruments and you get a sense that they absolutely love what they're doing. They are hilarious, too, the way they move around the stage. The Ryman is indeed the perfect venue to see such a show; it's small and intimate and truly a religious experience, even if you're not religious. The crowd at the Ryman was excellent, too. I made three videos that are now on YouTube: their opening, "Carry Me Back to Virginia," along with "Alabama High Test" and "Brushy Mountain Conjugal Trailer." Our seats were so good I could rarely get the whole band in one shot. My only regrets are that my camera died before "Wagon Wheel," they didn't play "Methamphetamine," and we didn't get to see the New Year's Eve show, too. Our 563-mile trip was definitely worth it and we will seek them out again! I must also say that the opening act, Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear, a mother-son duo from Kansas City, MO, were also excellent. Although we were not familiar with their music, they had a wonderful sound and they did an excellent rendition of Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams," also on my YouTube channel.

The performers were absolutely phenomenal, both Old Crow and Dom Flemons. The only thing that was lacking was the sound man for Dom. He absolutely butchered the sound.

OCMS is one of those bands that, their studio albums are good, but you ain't heard nuthin' till you have seen them live. I have been attending concerts for 50 years and the two other bands with that that same "problem" are Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Rolling Stones. GO see an OCMS show, you will be a fan for life

I have heard there recordings and watch their Dvds. There is nothing like seeing them live. I can not think of a more multi talented group! I am from the 60s and 70s generation and love music that is pure and sincere. The Moran Theater is also one of the best places to see a performance of any kind.

Last night was the third time I have seen OCMS live over the years and once again they delivered. The band served as their own opening act... playing for about 45 minutes then taking a 15 minute break. Overall we got almost 2.5 hours of top-notch music. No complaints from this fan. The sound was not perfect but better than a lot of live acts. The set list was a good mix of old and new. Lastly, I challenge anyone to try and keep track of how many different instruments each of these guys can play. Lots of talent on that stage. I highly recommend seeing this show.
