Swan Lake - Russian Ballet

This performance was wonderful. The performers were on point during the entire ballet. Costumes, lighting, scenes were very colorful and well designed. In short, everything was on point and very well performed. We have recommended this ballet to all our friends.

Mesmerizing!!!!! My daughter and my self have seen the Swan Lake Ballet before! First time with the Russian Ballet!!! Amazing!!!! Highly recommended!!!

It was so beautiful! This is something I would definitely see over and over again.

Some among the company were wonderful and truely made the show. The sets and some of the secondary parts felt less professional than the venue and company would suggest. The lack of a live orchestra was a great disappointment. Overall a wonderful staging, and well worth it.

The black/white swan was very good. The prince and the jester were above average but the sorcerer kept falling over.

The show was great! Dancers were prepared even when the music cut out. Loved Loved Loved the show. I would of put up pictures but they do not allow photos, they will even have the Phone Police after you saying they will take your phone away like we are children. Did not like that! We weren't even taking pictures during the show, only during intermission or before the show.

Took some friends and enjoyed this production greatly!

Was upsetting to get to the ballet and realize that the music was a recording. The base was nonexistent and fluctuated between being too loud or too soft. It also cut out at one point during the show while the dancers were dancing. The dancers were amazing and continued dancing but it was many measures before the music came back on. Live music would have really enhanced this event. Recommend waiting to see the ballet with live music.

The Swans were out in Montgomery. They were entertaining and danced beautifully. The art of ballet should be enjoyed by more of the children of our city. There were many empty seats that could have brought an enriching experience to a receptive young mind. I would have paid for any young person to sit next to us and enjoy the dance and music of Swan Lake.

This was a superb performance by this professional group. If you have the chance to see ballet at its best, go see this group. We hear the music by Tchaikovsky so often, to see the full ballet is a treat not to be missed. Even if you are not a classical music or ballet fan, just go. It's an education not to be missed.

I loved the Swan Lake presentation. It was entertaining, presented by wonderful ballet dancers, and also the music was enjoyable. I highly recommend Swan Lake.

So captivating to watch. Every act and step of the way was beautiful. The dancers were very skilled and the costumes were gorgeous making for a breathtaking performance. Truly enjoyed seeing just how good the Russian Ballet was in person. I would see this over and over again.

As always the Russian Ballet Swan Lake was great! Victor who danced the Prince had a bravo and noble presence on stage. This is my 3rd time seeing the dance company dance Swan Lake in various venues. Olga danced a very brilliant seductive cold hearted Odelle.

Odette and the court jester were my absolute favorites! They missed a crucial pas de deu between the Sean queen and the prince at the end. The dances at the party were all interpretations.

Really enjoy the show! The white swan and the black swan (they are same person) showed high telants and skills, made this show so enjoyable and moving! The Prince is noble and charming. The crown did a good job too.

Swan Lake proved to be thoroughly enjoyable. Followed driving directions provided on website; arrived one hour prior and parked in the underground lot with easy access to Spreckles foyer. Theatre opened 30 mins. prior to performance and we were quickly in the door. Grabbed drinks at the snack bar and then were greeted by several pleasant ushers stationed throughout the theatre to assist and get us settled in. My spouse is 6'2" so I obtained aisle seats in two adjoining rows. I found the seats to be roomy and comfortable. The ballet started promptly at 8:00 and strictly followed intermission schedule listed in program. We made a beeline to the restrooms and beat out dozens waiting in line. The ballet was phenomenal and by far my favorite theatre experience even beating out plays and musicals we've seen in NY and London. I would highly recommend attending future performances by the Russian Ballet and other shows at this wonderful venue.

This was my first ballet and Im glad I chose Swan Lake. The music was wonderful and all the dancers were magnificent. I'm not sure if I would go again just because I need a little more words...lol I would absolutely go if you have never been.

It was a beautiful event. The dancing was flawless. You could tell that it was not just a job for these people, but something they truly enjoy. Should you ever have the opportunity to go see it, I recommend it, but be sure to review the story. It is difficult to follow if you are not familiar with it. The theater itself was OK. I have been to much better ones. The seats seemed a little cramped. But it could not detract from the wonderful performance.

Great show. The story has a happy ending. I would see it again.

Excellent performance!! Only issue is that the Spreckels Theatre is too small for the amount of ballet dancers.

Performance was mediocre considering the cost of the tickets. Corps de ballet was not in sync. General performance was disappointing for a Russian ballet company. Principal dancers for Odette/Odile and the Jester were entertaining and enjoyable.

Just stop reading reviews and book the tickets. It's the Russian ballet performing one of the most famous ballets accompanied by some of the most famous music. It's great. It's just great. Why are you still reading this? Just book it.

The two of us thoroughly enjoyed the production. The staging, scenery, costumes, music, and dancers were unbelievable........ Don't miss this performance in other cities !!!..... tonight it will be in Hagerstown, Md at the Maryland Theatre, a beautiful theatre in the same style as the Hippodrome theatre in Balt. Md and others. Tomorrow night in Frederick, Md at another great theatre downtown. unsurpassable performance!

It was a really nice experience. I am just filling in space now because they said the review was too short.

No orchestra. Music clarity through speakers tinny sounding. Costumes were very average. Except for a few main players the dancing and choreography were sub par.

I love this ballet company, we saw them last year and they were fantastic then as well. I can see they are hardworking and work wonderfully together (the prima actually had a small bandage on her knee, barely visible through her tights, but it must have been quite an injury to warrant that on a show day!- and her performance def did not reflect any pain.) It's a shame they don't have the benefit of a live orchestra but otherwise the performance was lovely. The prima also signed autographs both before and after the show, quite awesome.

My husband and I went to see Swan Lake at the Genesee Theatre the past Friday night. The venue itself has some great history and is beautiful and the employees were very friendly and accommodating. Compared to Joffrey Ballets The Nutcracker (which is amazing), these performers were pretty good. My biggest complaint was the music was a recording and the sound was definitely NOT the best.

The dancing was wonderful-very talented group! Though I know the way of entertainment now is to fore-go the live orchestra, the recording/sound system did the dancers a huge disservice. Many times all that could be heard was annoying vibration/feedback. Sadly this occurred during beautiful, tranquil dance movements(music was harp, which could not be enjoyed-it was downright painful)..Please look into this problem.......

Incredible experience. Beautifully choreographed, flawlessly performed - such a lovely evening. I would have given it 5 stars if they had performed with an orchestra rather than recorded music. But then again - I imagine the tickets would have been much more expensive. An evening at the beautiful Genessee Theatre is always a treat.

The Ballet company was excellent!! This outing was a gift to my mother and daughter. We all enjoyed the performance! The choreography was top-notch, to say the least! The set design was pretty.

This was the best ballet that I have ever attended. The dancers were fantastic!

The show was very good, the dancers were excellent. There was a problem with the sound quality. I'm not sure if it was the recording or the speakers but it was fuzzy, distorted at times. That took away from the enjoyment of the performance.

The only reason I don't give this five stars is because of the music. The recording was too loud with way too much base. I was extremely disappointed as the music for me is a big part of the ballet.

This was the first ballet for my 6year old granddaughter and she was awed! The theater is beautifully restored and maintained. The staff were very courteous and helpful. The ballet was outstanding. Sadly though the music was a disappointment. Perhaps the sound system was not functioning properly or outdated but the power of music for a ballet was a disappointment. My granddaughter asks me when we can see another ballet so this was a five star for her and I'll give it a four star overall as the music was not impressive. Looking forward to coming back to the Genesee theater again.

The ballet of Swan Lake is spell binding in its beauty, grace and romanticism. If you can for a moment forget your humdrum existence and immerse yourself in the music and the visual feast you will be taken to a different world. The ballet dancers were so graceful they actually felt like swans gliding on the stage. The ballet will stroke your senses. There is something organic, graceful and spiritual about a live performance. It nourishes your soul which fed on and fed up of TV, plasma screen, CGI, and other forms of entertainment. You simply get carried away by the sheer beauty and elegance of the choreography and it satiates the artistic side of your soul. I will not mind going to a similar performance or concert every weekend. It left an indelible impression on my mind and left me with a wonderful memory.

I took my 7 yr. old daughter to the Russian Grand Ballet performance of Swan Lake this past Saturday night at the State Theater in Kalamazoo, Mi. It was supposed to be an anniversary gift for my wife, but she had back problems and could not make the trip, so....instead of selling the tickets, my daughter and I made it a date. The performance was fantastic, it was the first ballet for the both of us, and we both thought it was awesome. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, it's worth every penny to go see this performance.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ballet. I particularly thought Ms Olga Kifyak's performance ws extra-ordinarily good. I was mesmerized. The Jester, Mr. Dennis Chernyak was also very entertaining as was the performance by Mr. Denis Panchenko as the sorcerer. I thought the entire cast di a superb job dancing. However I thought the Tutor as played by Mr. Ivan Kozlov could have been greatly minimized. I was also very surprised not to have seen an explosive performance by Eugeniy Svetlitsa who played Siegfried. All in all we had a terrific time! Thank you.

This was my boyfriends first time seeing a ballet, and he was blown away by the talent of the dancers, particularly the young man playing the Jester, and the prima ballerina. For me, it was a wonderful viewing of an old favorite done remarkably well. I thoroughly enjoyed our evening out and look forward to more events like this.

The dancing was beautiful, and the theater was intimate so that you could see all of the detail. However, the music was piped in from a bad recording, or possibly a bad sound system. It was very surprising that there was no orchestra. The music definitely detracted from the performance, but the performers and the dancing were amazing.

This was a one of a kind performance! The excitement of the performers was electric! We thoroughly enjoyed their talents. Thank you for coming to Minneapolis!

The Russian Grand Ballet performance of "Swan Lake" was beautiful!

This was my very first ballet. I knew my wife liked them so I got us tickets. I really enjoyed the the evening. Great event!

Costuming and dancing were outstanding. Theater is beautiful, but sight lines are not good and floors need to be washed. I literally stuck to them.

I am not a ballet fan in fact in my sixties, I think that last ballet I saw was when I was six. However I do love classical music and was very familiar with the music. I got the tickets because my wife had always wanted to see Swan Lake and somehow it had not happened. So there I was at my second ballet experience. I loved the dancing. The Russian ballet performers were absolutely terrific (remember that I know nothing about which I write) and they made the music that much more enjoyable. I would go see this again and again. My only wish that would have made this review five star was if there had been an orchestra instead of just the recording. I am sure that the Minnesota Orchestra would have done a great job although I don't know if the State Theater would have had the room. I doubt that I will get to Russia to see these performers with one of their orchestras but I am going make an effort to see this again somewhere..

The performance was unbelievable! My only complaint is the chairs are not very wide.

This ballet company was amazing. I have seen Swan Lake performed twice previously (by two different ballet companies); however, I felt that this company "nailed" the performance.

My first time to see a ballet and definitely a winner. Beautiful music and wonderful performance by the Russian Grand Ballet. The Ebell theater is a little outdated but the great performance made up for it. A must see!

Thank you for the Russian Ballet Company for continuing the tradition of classical ballet. Especially Swan Lake. I love it when you come to Thousand Oaks. Please come back next year! The program did not have the names of the dancer's. Rothbart dancer was awesome! His dancing was exciting and mesmerizing! Olga and Evgeniy always so beautiful, noble and graceful!

A fantastic, engaging evening. This production of Swan Lake was a memorable one in a convenient suburban setting outside of very busy downtown streets. The dance and delivery of the story left me wide-eyed and at times with chills. A romantic, lovely, and ethereal production. Suggestions for arriving at Fred Kavli Theatre: If driving your own vehicle, I suggest arriving early and taking your time to leave as parking lot congestion was slow and heavy in getting in and out. If you can manage parking outside of the venue or arranging other transportation to the show, do so!

Exquisite performance by everyone. Unforgettable. Will be back!

The venue is great! Very accessible and excellent, easy parking. The performance was beautiful! The dancers were all high-energy; the staging was lovely; the audience was very enthusiastic and applauded loudly throughout the program for the delightful solos. I took my granddaughter to the performance, and she was mesmerized, as was I. I would love to return to see performances at this theater. Of note: There is only water allowed inside the theater, so if you enjoy treats during a show, forget it. There was a vendor outside with chips and candy only, not to be brought inside. So, I recommend that you plan to eat before you go and save the snacking for afterwards or for intermission outside.

It was a pleasant evening.No matter where a person sits the stage visibility is great and the ballet performance was wonderful.

THE DANCING WAS EXCELLENT HOWEVER THE STORY LINE WAS RETOUCHED AND DISAPPOINTING. THE FIRST ACT WAS TOO LONG WITH THE CORPS IN ALL WHITE. WHEN THE BLACK SWAN FINALLY APPEARED HER ROLE WAS VERY SHORT. AND THE FINAL ACT WAS RUSHED.

What a beautiful production of one of the world s most greatest Ballets. Simply a joy to watch the Russian Ballet performance. Thank you for bringing this to the Conejo Valley.

The Name Russian Grand Ballet could be easily confused with Bolshoi Ballet. Its absolutely not even close to real Bolshoi performances. No orchestra, music is poor recording, a lot of improvisations in dances, low level of "cord d ballet" dancers etc. It was kind of embarrassing to watch such a poor performance. Like they said you got what you paid for. If you want to see real Russian ballet don't watch this one.

My wife & I had the same reaction: Too much showcasing! We both prefer story ballets like Romeo & Juliet, Billy the Kid, Petrushka, whereas the story in this Swan Lake was secondary. The Primary focus seemed to be on the acrobatic ability of each dancer as evidenced by their tendency to prance to the front of the stage after each solo achievement and practically beg for applause. That pulled them out of character which should be verboten in any dramatic performance. Imagine if Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper had approached the camera after an intense scene in "Silver Linings Playbook" in order to take a bow! If you like the acrobatic aspects of ballet and couldn't care less about the story, you will probably like this ballet a lot.

We were so disappointed with the performance of Swan Lake and should have been warned by the reasonable price of the tickets. The music was piped in...no orchestra for one of the most beautiful scores. We saw this ballet in St. Petersburg and the dancers were amazing, this touring company was probably the 3rd level. The theater itself is lovely.

The swan lake ballet was beautifully executed and the dancers were magnificent especially the Jester and the evil male swan. Odette and Odille were also exceptionally talented. Such a lovely ballet. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you.

This was our 30th Anniversary so my wife always wanted to see a ballot so I bought tickets,,, This was the perfect gift !!!! This was our first ballot and it was awesome !!! Thanks MPAC for this GREAT venue !!!

I counted 12 male dancers and 18 ballerinas, all wonderful dancers. Staging and costumes were beautiful. Overall, an impressive display of dancing and telling a story using dance as the medium. Of course, Tchaikovsky's music was inspiring. A wonderful evening of top-notch entertainment.

I saw Swan Lake with my 10 yr old son and I asked him how he would review it. He said, "Fantastic!". He was struck by the athleticism and gracefulness of the dancers, especially their muscles! I was mesmerized by the beauty and gracefulness of it all. It would have been perfect if they had an orchestra for the music, but still the music was beautiful. We highly recommend this performance!

The dancers were oh, so, talented and graceful. The toe work was outstanding. Their total command of their bodies and the deliberate and extended hand movements were delightfully beautiful. The grace and poise was what one would expect from a delightful night. The ballet was outstanding. The turnout from Montgomery was disappointing.

Great production, wonderful venue, amazing performers...a great evening!
