The Used

Bursting onto the scene with the tense crunch of post-hardcore guitars and singer Bert McCracken's piercing shriek in the early aughts, The Used were stalwarts of the “screamo” sub-genre, drawing comparisons to contemporaries in Thursday, Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance. Always a formidable live act, The Used are as closely aligned with the hard rock acts of the 80s as they are with their post-hardcore brethren, with vocalist McCracken lending his plaintive howl to his bandmates' razor-sharp maelstrom and a full battery of strobe lights. Their latest full-length album Vulnerable featured more overly theatrical flourishes and led with the single “I Come Alive.” They supported the album with the Vulnerable Tour 2012 and reissued the album as a two-disc set that included B-sides and rarities, called Vulnerable (II) in March 2013.

I have waited for 8 years to be able to see the Used and it was worth the wait!!! Although we missed hearing them play some of our favorite songs we realize if they did all of them it would be a 3 hour show. They did not disappoint though; I heard my favorite, Buried Myself Alive. It is all the more reason that I would see them again whenever I can.

The opening bands were a pathetic excuse for music. It took forever to switch the band equipment and 11$ for a weak vodka tonic?! I expected much better.

it ws a great show, sound was good you couldnt complain it was an amazing show!!! i love the used so i was expacting it to be great i started in the back of the crowd but with a little strategy i was able to get to the front row since it was general admission and stood at the baracade! it was beyond awesome!!! though the first opening band didnt really fit with the other 2 bands, if he dies he dies and the used, it was a perfect show. plus the merch booth was very accessable, which i visited alot hahaha. plenty of parking and easy to get in and out of the venue

The Orbit Room is a great size for shows It felt intimate enough, but still let a sizable crowd in. Now, as far as The Used goes, they were amazing! I have wanted to see them since I was 16 and their debut C.D. came out. In concert they have great energy, and Bert's personality is everything you would expect it to be.

After Waiting Years To See The Used, They Did Not Disappoint! They Had The Best Live Set That I've Ever Seen. Fans Of The Used Are Amazing, They Make The Concert Even Better By Being Die Hard Fans. A Small Concert Venue Changes The Atmosphere When Everyone Is There For The Same Reason, Unlike Large Concert Halls. Where A Ton Of People Are There But Are There For Different Reasons And Bands. What I'm Trying To Say It Was More Personal. Another Thing Was How Much They Love There Fans. They Had Security Of Course, But They Were Willing To Sign Autographs, Take Pictures, And Talk To Fans. Most Bands Don't Do That Any More, Unless You Buy Special Passes, or They're Getting Payed For It. Overall The Best Concert EVER!!! :D

The Used has been my favorite band for about 8 yrs, and that was the first time I got to see them. They put on an excellent show, don't get me wrong. But to me and my friends I went with, the set list wasn't nearly long enough, and they didn't even play their best songs! I would go again any day, I was just disappointed in the set list, and that makes a show right?

The Used played a lot of songs that I wanted to hear from their previous albums. Unfortunately Bert can no longer scream and now their music is lacking a huge part of what made them good. His amazing ability to go from singing to screaming and back without taking a stop or a break (usually you need a pause to change the sound thats coming out of your throat from musically singing to cutting scream and vice versa) added an amount of depth to the music. It gave the music a broader spectrum of emotion and really emphasizes the pain of lost love. Without that it just seemed like some other band covering their songs. The other bands that played sounded like crap except for The Storied Life. Some really interesting sounds, but somewhat flat vocals.

I felt that the starting bands were only okay, personally. The sound was a little messed up, and it sounded like all of the amplifiers settings may have been too loud for the venue, which made it kind of hard to hear the vocals for any of the bands, and you could hear the whines of the instruments (guitar). It was, however, an unforgettable experience. My friend and I now share custody of a broken The Used -Signed- drumstick, and we got to stand up front, against the barricades! I have gone to the Orbit Room once in the past, but have never gotten to see The Used. I think that it would have been better had the bands been more prepared for a smaller venue, however, it was still really good!

The Used pulled another awesome show out of their hat! They are so energetic, they interact with the crowd... I would honestly be wary of being on the main floor as they usually have the crowd divide and run at each other when the "music explodes" during 'Handsome Awkward'... If you enjoy The Used (why wouldn't you?) don't even second guess buying tickets! They sound great live and you will leave pumped! ** Watch the merch. table! The last 2 times I've seen them they have had download cards for their 'Artwork' album. (I already own the cd) but if you purchase it there you can get access to a meet and greet after the show! I've met them 2x now and they are so nice! (I even got hugs from all the guys: I was like a little kid) They don't always do meet and greets, so just keep your eyes open... **

I took my son to see The Used for his 16th birthday on the 13th of April to the Blue Note in Columbia, MO. It was the 3rd time he saw them, they are his most favorite band and have been for nearly 3 years now. The best part of the show was when we got Meet and Greet tickets, and Bert asked my son to wait by the wall, that he wanted to talk to him. We waited for about 3 minutes, then my son was called back over to talk to Bert McCracken and he gave my son the shirt off of his back! Needless to say, it was the best birthday gift he's ever gotten!

The three bands were a perfect progression of music. Having seen them all before, it was a distinct pleasure to attend this concert. Drive A continues to improve; it will be nice to see them again when they have a few more songs under their belts. Atreyu was far superior to when we saw them two years ago; keep at it guys! And The Used have got it all going on. They know how to handle the crowd, keep everyone involved in the show, work the music - they're just a great live band. Surprisingly (but not disturbingly), they are just slightly choreographed. For those who have not seen them, they love it all. For those of us who see them regularly, can we please lose the shoplifting routine, the mosh duel, and the blatent commercialism (from a band that claims to want to stay out of the mainstream) by wearing your own tour merchandise on stage? But none of that negetively impacts me - I'll be there again the next time The Used are within a four hour ride of my driveway.

The Used are never disappointing, always a phenomenal show, Bert McCracken's vocals are unforgettable, his stage prescence is commanding, and he always gets the crowd excited and involved. Meeting the band afterwards for the signing is amazing, and I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to meet them on two separate occasions. The Used's music is probably for me the most motivating and emotionally important music for me personally. They never miss a beat and their songs are always played with an amazing professionalism for a younger band. I would never have one bad word to say about The Used. I only wish that I could actually have a sit down meeting with the band after show because they seem like a very cool group of people that would be awesome to hang out with!!

I have always heard from friends that the Used were amazing live, and from this show I find myself agreeing 100%. My friend who came with me didn't know very many of their songs but she still loved them too. They just really make everyone have a good time and get the crowd really into the music. The only downsides to me had to do with the fact that you could bring food in but not drinks other than water and it had to be in a bottle? And even then the food was ridiculously priced ($3.50 for a can of soda) but that's all just the venue. The performance of the band was really amazing and I would definitely recommend seeing them live.

This show was amazing! I have never seen them in my own town. Last time I had to go to Austin, but this time it was in Houston and I was not going to miss it for anything in the world! Sooo worth it! I was in the front row in the center so I had an AMAZING view of the whole show (not too mention the most painful place to be too). I would go through the pain, sweat, and tears again if I got to see the show again and to meet them after. Their humility as people is what make them stand out the most in my eyes.

I would have to say that this was the best Used concert I have ever been to. This concert was on Halloween which made it ever better. Bert McCracken is so hilarious. I think he is the most talented singers I listen to. This concert lasted so long. So long that the House of Blues told them their time was up. Of course Bert had 2 words for them. Quinn, Jeph and Dan are marvelous. Seeing them all play together was just unbelievable. After the show ended, my husband and I waited to meet the band members. Dan came out first. Then Jeph and then Quinn. They were all so nice. I was able to get my picture with each one and their autograph. Bert never came out but that's okay. The fact that here these guys just played a 2 hour show and 3 came out to meet fans before they left is just awesome. Like I said before just seeing them play as a whole was worth every penny. I just love these guys.

I saw The Used at the Odgen Theater in Denver. I didn't realized they were doing one album the first night and different one the second. I missed the first one, but I'm lucky to have been there the second night. I've loved The Used for years! I've always wanted to see them in concert. Well, they didn't disappoint. Bert was amazing at connecting with the crowd! There's was an electric energy in the theater. I was surprised how many younger people were there, but it was clear that everyone was a die-hard fan. The crowd sang every single song. It felt like a bunch of friends sitting around singing our favorite songs in someone's living room. I'm lucky to have seen The Used in a venue that holds only 1,600. It was by far the BEST concert I've ever been too. I'm going to make up for missing the first night/album by traveling to see them later this summer. Overall, an unforgettable experience.

The Used has been my favorite band since I was about 13-14 years old. They've been with me and helped me through the hardest, scariest, most hopeless years of my life. I've cried with them, rejoiced with them, and so much more that I choose not to share right now, but my life has been pretty rough. They've saved it. Seeing them on these 2 unforgettable nights was such an emotional experience for me, filled with immense gratitude. I got to meet them, and thank them for the life I have today. Flew from Orlando to Atlantic City to see The Used this weekend. A great show with warm up band We Came as Romans. Truly rocked the house. Saw Bert from The Used on the elevator later that night and he was nice enough to take some pictures and tell us how much he appreciated our support as fans. Look forward to seeing The Used again soon!

I had the time of my life. I waited out in the cold and snow for two hours to get front row center. <3 It was so worth it, being up close to Bert and hearing his voice from that short of a distance than hearing him over the speakers. The only issues I had was not the band's fault, it was other people around me in the crowd. You can't control that so it is whatever. Security was wonderful, helping with the multiple crowd surfers.

The Used were great. Their set list lacked a few fan favourites like "Cut Up Angels," "Liar," and "I'm a Fake", but they were great nonetheless. The opening bands were rather lackluster, though. But Club Zoo, as always, is a great, albeit small, venue.

This was, hands down, the best concert I have ever attended! I have been a fan of The Used since the very beginning. I remember listening to their self titled album in middle school and then falling in love with In Love and Death in 8th grade. Lunacy Fringe was one of the first songs I learned how to play on my upright bass! I love this band so much and it meant the world to me to finally get to see them live. This venue is very up-close and intimate as well which made the concert that much more special. My friend and I loved night one so much that we went straight to the counter after the show and bought tickets for night two. And the second night was just as fun as the first. The entire experience was amazing and I am so glad we had the chance to see them!

Pageant is like a small town venue in the city. It was a laid back environment. Very nice and organized. The Used put on a good show.

Nostalgia was in full bloom at the Electric Factory where every die hard "real" fan turned out to see an act and hear the songs from the "Untitled" CD that defined the early "Warped Tour" era. I have rarely seen the venue more packed. Every fan sang every word. It was beautiful and actually reminded me of old Joni Mitchell concerts with everyone holding up lit matches in a sea of harmony. Back around 2002, I remember seeing the Used open for and obliterate Box Car racer on this same stage. Burt owned the evening and had to be one of the most electric entertainers I have ever seen. The songs, the power...it was everything. Almost 15 years later, things have gotten tamer. It's remarkable that Burt can even sing a note today because he gave it all back in the day. We knew we had to reset our expectations- so we did and loved it anyway.

This show was absolutely amazing. It was awesome hearing the album after listening to it for so long. Tickets seem to sell out quick for this so if you have the opportunity to still get tickets, I highly recommend you do that. I'll be keeping an eye out for when they come back in the area. The opening band wasn't my favorite, but you could tell they were having fun on stage.

The Used held back way too much during this show. I was very disappointed. I've seen them exert more emotion. They are an emo band, after all. This performance was lame. It should have been raw, like the album.

With the help of some true family and friends, I was able to fly out to California all the way from NY to see an event that I knew was going to be amazing. The Used have been the most incredible band for the last 15 years that they've played and recorded. To see that they were going to be playing such an intimate real beauty of a show, I knew I couldn't miss it. I needed to clear my head from some unfortunate things that happened to me recently and there was no better way to do it then to see The Used, my favorite band and hero's in music for over a decade. I quit my job, gathered my things, and bought a 1200 plane ticket leaving me broke just to go out and see this event, the day before the show. I didn't care what it costed me, I knew this show was going to be worth it. Low and behold it EXCEEDED my expectations. The stage set up was absolutely beautiful thanks to the amazing Cam Rackam. The show was incredible allowing the audience to feel so much passion in everything about the show. The band themselves, the added extras, backup singers, the orchestra, just everything was incredible. There's really no real way for me to write a good review to portray just how great of a show this was. You had to be there to believe it. Thankfully the whole thing will be recorded for The Used Unplugged DVD. I can't express my gratitude enough for this band and everyone that has helped them and continues to help them do what they do. Everyone please check them out and don't miss them when they come by next year :) the Used forever.

I attended the Taste of Chaos tour in 2005 I believe, at the Long Beach Arena stop. I remember being on the rail for many of the acts and having a great time. When I saw the lineup for the 2015 throwback it was like the Emo Woodstock - a grab bag of the genre's 2003-2005 staples. Some I had a seen before but what caught my eye was the handful that I hadn't seen yet, all in one place, one stage, one day. I like that the set times were posted extremely far in advance. I almost made a decision to sell my ticket and go to Austin City Limits instead, but I'm glad I didn't do that. This was a nice little festival that turned out way better than expected. I woke up slightly hungover on my friend's couch around 12:30 and dashed to my car, stopping home briefly to change and then racing to the San Manuel Amphitheater "festival grounds". I arrived just in time to hear Finch performing "Letters To You". I was hoping to catch Finch's full set because I hadn't seen them before, but I didn't really care for that song anyway. Caught the back half of their mediocre set. Thankfully parking was free, though the walk to the entrance was a bit far and I wasn't a huge fan of the roundabout way they made us enter the festival. Ticket scanning was also curiously sluggish. Water for $4.75? LOL. To be fair I was incredibly unprepared - I wore sandals and didn't bring sunscreen nor even know if empty water bottles were allowed inside for refilling. But when Coachella only charges $2 or $3....come on. The usual food vendors were there, and the set up reminded me a lot of the Lost Highway festival with Social Distortion and, oh yeah, Toby Keith. But the main amphitheater wasn't utilized here - just the adjacent field with one stage and lots and lots of vendors. It was actually nice to have the event relegated to a fairly small area. Set times were simply posted on a large board, which I snapped a picture of for reference throughout the day. The stage utilized the radio festival-type revolving stage so that there was no downtime between bands. That was kind of nice but also difficult if you wanted to take a break between bands. Since I last saw Story of the Year play a great set from the front row at Taste of Chaos '05, I opted to grab food and enjoy them from afar. Ten years later, they're still having fun. Tons of nostalgia jokes all day, and I wonder what all these bands are going to be doing in another ten or twenty years. Hitting the casino or county fair circuits? The music all sounds sort of dated now and particular to a certain period of our lives. Like other artists and genres prior, it must be weird rehashing those "good times" year in and year out. I wasn't too familiar with the Movielife but like so many other bands these days it was cool to check them out. Again it was kind of a time warp, though these guys seemed to have a smaller but still dedicated fan base. The crowd demographics were interesting as well - lots of late-twentysomethings revisiting their late teen years. I was able to get a great spot for Saves The Day, a band I have wanted to see for ages though I'm aware it's basically just the Chris Conley show now. He looked rather out of it, to be honest, and not entirely present, but the setlist was full of classics and uptempo numbers and the crowd helped keep it fun by singing along and even...(sigh)...moshing. Glassjaw was another group I enjoyed mildly but was interested in seeing. Again, lineup changes galore, but it was still basically Glassjaw, and they played a few songs I remember. And the crowd was wild. Following this was a "Mark Hoppus DJ set" which was extremely weird in a hilarious kind of way. First of all Mark Hoppus is starting to come off as dad-like. Then he was mashing up all sorts of classic emo/pop-punk hits with modern pop hooks to varying results. An easy highlight was "Turn Down For What" under Taking Back Sunday's "Cute Without The E". I took another break while All-American Rejects went on. I had little interest in seeing them but it was nice to hear the few songs I knew. Also their singer looks haggard - lay off the drugs dude. These nostalgia fests can be a bit depressing in that sense - seeing where everyone's at 10 years later. Sometimes you don't want to know. I had recently seen Dashboard open for Third Eye Blind in Irvine, but only a partial set. So it was nice to see this entirely - and a lot closer. The crowds were very manageable - I don't think it sold out - and for the rest of the night I was able to get closer and closer to the stage. So that aspect was pretty much perfect. Dashboard's set was fine. After was Thrice who I have already seen several times. I love their music, old and new, and most people love their older stuff - in fact the crowd when they started was perhaps the most raucous all day - but there was very little passion evident in their set. In particular frontman Dustin Kensrue seemed like he was just there to do his job. It's not surprising given their recent history. Jimmy Eat World just killed it. I have never seen a proper set from them - their short afternoon set at Weenie Roast 2005 shouldn't really cut it - and this was stellar. They played almost everything I could have realistically wanted to hear and the atmosphere was perfect. The Used closed out the night and were a little too cartoonish for me but I ended up staying for the entire set. The crowd was really into them, singing/shouting every word. At their conclusion I quickly ducked out a side exit to beat the traffic. All in all a great day and much more fun than I ever really expected. I wonder if this festival will return...the more I think about it there's a good number of acts that could fill a second bill.

This was my first time at this venue. It was easy to get to and I loved that parking was included with the ticket. I am an avid concert goer and was very impressed with their continuous setup. I expected a multi-stage setup when I saw the start times of the lineup however was very surprised with the revolving stage to keep the music going. Kuddos!!! I enjoyed the lineup however was most excited to hear All American Rejects, Dashboard Confessional and Jimmy Eat World. The only negative I have is I wish the sound would've been a bit higher. Some of the vocals sounded a bit low and if you didn't know the lyrics then you couldn't tell what they were singing. The additional boost in volume would've also helped drown out some of the talking occurring behind and beside me.

It was great to see some old bands again. My favorite band there was Thrice, hands down. My biggest complaint about the venue was the sound issue they were having THE ENTIRE EVENT. There speakers kept going muffled every few minutes that would basically kill the vibe. It was a constant, Loud music then muffled music, loud music then muffled music. Pretty annoying. Also, I know The Used is the headliner and its there event they put together but their performance wasnt the best. Maybe its because their song choices sucked? Safe to say this is the last Taste of Chaos tour I go to.

Well they started early which means we missed the Marmocets altogether. But the two bands we intended on seeing rocked the freaking place! We had seen Chevelle once before and they did what they know how to do best : give an amazing show with multiple opportunities to properly rock. But The Used truly stole the show. Between playing ev ery song we knew to blowing my mind with a RATM/Smells like Teen Spirit medley, they knew how to be incredibly engaging and keep everyone moving. Highly recommend this duo. Please come to the Houston area, so we don't have to fly somewheres like New Hampshire to see you again, but it made the trip worth it anyways! If you can, make this tour while its still going on!

I so wanted to give a five star rating but, can't do it!! Chevelle should have been the headliner and played longer as the opening girl singer band and The Used were awful. I left after Chevelle along with hundreds of other people. Chevelle was amazing and didn't disappoint, worth every penny to hear them play for an hour. Very disappointed that they were put in with two other bands that didn't have any talent! Chevelle should have headlined bottom line!!!
