One day before his 74th birthday Leon Russell put on one helluva show in Biloxi, Mississippi on April 1! His music is a unique blend of rock, country, R&B, and gospel featuring his rousing piano skills backed up with just the right amount of steel guitar, bass, and percussion. He's also an entertaining story teller. Yes, he's a senior citizen, but so am I. A big thumbs up for starting the show right on time at 8:00 pm! No opening act. Leon performed for 90 fun-filled minutes and called it a night. Great show.

respect the legend. Mr. Russell may take his time walking onto the stage, but when his fingers hit those piano keys it's magic. The songs we all know the words to, the memories he shares and the realization of age ,all made this experience awesome. I liked his solo's.

Leon Russell is truly the Master of Space and Time. If you have not had the pleasure of seeing Leon in concert, you are missing out on one of the best concerts. Leon is the ultimate musician and his band is awesome. Leon has fun stories about his years in the music industry, playing and recording with Rock N Roll's other legends, like BB King, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and more. I sat about 15 feet away from my hero, Leon, while he was on stage. He still rocks after all these years! I had a great time.

Although Leon is a GREAT songwriter and he has an accomplished band, the venue was poor for his performance. The acoustics were lousy and all you could hear was loud music coming from an inadequate sound system. Leon needs to be a bit more personable and connect with the audience. It was evident that he was just going through the motions. I've been a fan of Leon's since 1971 and was truly disappointed with this performance.

We love to go to the Aladdin Theater. We get food, good folks, good music, and all close to home. However, the music was so loud, we couldn't hear the lyrics! We asked the techie to turn it down a little after we saw a steady stream of others asking the same thing. No luck. When we left early, a staff person asked why we were leaving and we told her we're too old to lose any more hearing. She offered us earplugs...we left. But it was so good to see Leon again.

The Shelter People were out in force that night! Leon did not disappoint at all. Sounded great singing and his playing was impeccable. Top notch band, very tight and Leon was an amusing character too. Well worth going to experience. Didnt play Masquerade or Superstar - might be burnt out on them but played for almost 2 hours straight. Thanks for the memories Mr Russell - awesome birthday present! Lance

This was our first time at the Cone Denim Entertainment Center. In my opinion, this is a fantastic place for a live performance. Not too big, not too small, but just about right for that intimate location to see one of Rock N Roll's living Legends. The seats were fantastic, complete with wait staff, to satisfy your thirst. The sound was excellent, unlike the Greensboro Coliseum, where the sound is absolutely horrible. I look forward to the next occasion to see live music at this venue.

Leon Russell gave a great performance in Greensboro. I had never seen him, but I had admired him for many years, and I love his music. He has written and performed on so many fabulous songs, and I'm thrilled he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame FINALLY! His playing was spot on, and he was very personable with the audience. He is a living legend you should not miss.

Without a doubt we saw a living legend perform this weekend. His singing and piano playing were masterful and on top of everything else he was truly funny. He sang most of his catalog and the set where he played solo was awesome. If you pass up a chance to see Leon, young or old, you will be passing up a chance to see a master apply his craft.

We finally got to see Dave Mason in concert! His famous songs have been reworked for this tour, to the point some were barely recognizable. But the stylizing was good and fresh and the audience seemed to enjoy it. His band was good, too, and his humor on point. He returned for one encore before Leon Russell, the main draw. Leon came on stage with his cane and played as good as he always has. He chatted with the audience about some past experiences; those were a bit rambling, leaving some questions he posed unanswered! His band was also good. Overall, I liked that the sound level wasn't' so loud I didn't have punctured eardrums at the end of the night. Yea, I know, I'm getting there myself. Hey, but I'm still enjoying concerts nonetheless. :-) The only negative was the constant glare from silly folks watching this LIVE event through their tiny little screens!

Terrific show great to hear so many songs from the past. Wilbur is a tough venue for the "geezer tour" as I heard someone call us as we trouped in--whit haired and bald. Saw lots of us struggling with the steep steps and high balcony. Leon had some great stories--was sad that he did not reference Elton John who I think was important to his rejuvenation. But both entertainers were classy and 'just the music' focused. Interesting to see the lo tech video of Dave but it showed how many different incarnations he has had over the years with so many other artists. Great to see so many still following the beat and heart of the 60's and 70's.

Dave Mason opened and he and his band were great. His guitar work was flawless and his voice strong. Appreciated the short interludes between songs where he talked of playing with some of the other great artists of the 60's and 70's like Hendrix, Dylan, etc. Leon was visibly a bit feeble and needed a cane to make his way onto the stage, but once he got to the piano, it was pretty much the Leon I've always loved to listen to. He was pretty stoic at the piano, but his fingers were flying over the keyboards as well as in his younger days. His voice was never great, but unique, and it remains so, although understandably not as strong. He also had some interesting stories between songs, and his band was top notch. Overall, a great night of classic rock n roll.

This was my first time seeing Leon Russell, kind of a bucket list thing. Our seats were really good, probably 50 feet from the stage, sound system was fantastic. Met some nice folks. Leon is an older man now, but when he plays that piano you could swear he's a young guy. A show full of his hits, stories, backed by a great band and incredible orchestration. Musically one of the best concerts I've ever been to. It was intimate, moving, beautiful. Would see him again, especially at the Birchmere.

Omg. I bought a ticket for this event, because I'm an 'old rocker', and I live close to the CR, and the price was right. Was I in for a treat! I felt like I was in his living room! He told stories about his life, some leading up to the song he was about to perform, the solo of 'Over The Rainbow' nearly put me over the edge! My feet were killing me from standing for over 3 hours, but that didn't stop me from dancing! Awesome show....I feel privileged to have been there

I was concerned about how good this concert would be since I was supposed to see him in the spring and the concert was cancelled, due to the riots in Baltimore. I saw him a few years ago and he seemed a bit lethargic. Whatever he has done worked. He was full of life, the music was awesome and his commentary riveting, talking about his experiences with Elvis, BB King and George Harrison. This ranks up with some of my favorite concerts.

We Love Leon! My wife and I have been fans of LR since early 70s. We have been to quite a few shows over the years and to see him in fine form at 72 yrs young is a special treat for any fan of Leon. I was fortunate to be at Concert for Bangla Desh and his performance there was incredible and I will never forget his virtuosity that day. Of course he can't hit the high stuff anymore but his voice is rich and full of soul as it should be. He peppered his music with great stories of his life in the world of rock and to hear this was amazing. The only "gripe" a fan may have is he kind of boogiewoogies thru his landmark songs like STRANGER IN A STRANG LAND, DELTA LADY, etc without a pause, losing those songs sound. I guess just to fit it all in. But TIGHTROPE, YOUNGBLOOD, SWEET EMILY, SINGING MY SONG FOR YOU and others were great. Guess we'll just have to see Leon again to hear more! One more note...he had a young backup trio playing with him who were great, so the show is strictly Leon Russell.

I LOVE Leon Russell. I never go to concerts but I consider him one of the great American Songwriters and Carney as one of the top Albums from that decade so I saved my pennies and bought a ticket. So I was disappointed when 1 - he rushed through a medley of his tunes at the top of the show all in the same rhythm and included his classic Stranger In A Strange Land. It was barely recognizable. 2 - he did covers of other bands!! At least a quarter of his set if not more was other peoples material! What!!??? He did something from the Stones instead of "Masquerade" one of the most beautiful songs from that era!!??!!! He is a master musician, the band was great but even his "encore" was all covers. ?????? Unexplainable and I'm still feeling upset. Doesn't he value what he's done? I can't make sense of it.

Leon started a little after nine pm and played till about ten thirty. There was a mix of some older songs by Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan, and Jerry Lee Lewis and others. I really enjoyed the rare times that he spoke to the crowd about his early life and beginnings in the music industry. He actually made a couple of jokes and one time choke up alittle when sharing about a dear friend that had past away this year before singing 'Sweet Emily'. I have seen Leon Russell many times since 1972 and now twice in the last two years and I must say that he is a true rock and roll treasure that should be enjoyed anytime you get the chance to see and hear him. He still is performing and travelling like a true road warrior even at age seventy one. He may not be around much longer but his music will be with us forever. May God bless Leon Russell. Leon Russell is a marvel. Despite his recent injuries and surgeries, he shows the same energy that he did in the '70's. Listening to him perform his classsics live is just an unmatchable experience. His stories between songs are also a great part of being at a Leon concert. He knows everybody! His band is superb, and has become an integral part of enjoying Leon's performance. Unbelievable.......at 69 years old, Leon Russell could teach the younger kids how to do a show. I LOVE LEON RUSSELL but he needs to enunciate better. He mumbles or drones through his hits as if he's bored to death. In fact...if he sang clearer he just might get younger...it's like exercise for the brain. When I listen to his albums(sorry...they are called CDs now) you can hear him perfectly. When you're live and in person...it's a "rough listen". The band was tight but his lips were loose. Still I would go again...he's one of my heros.

I first saw Leon in 1970 when he played with John Sebastian, The Who & Blues Image at Anaheim Stadium. He blew us all away and we all went out and bought up every album of his we could find! I've been following him ever since and was overjoyed when his wagging career was given a boost by Elton last year. He has helped a lot of people along the way - Joe Cocker comes to mind. He was prominent in George Harrison's Concert for Bangladesh. This time he was funny, engaged and can still play. he is backed up by some fantastic young players from Tulsa and Nashville and although my opinion is probably a bit biased - he delivered a great set. Dr. John was outstanding as well. This show was well worth the $54 and not a bad seat in the house.

It was Leon's 68th birthday at the Culture Room. Small venue, intimate setting but no seats. The opening act was very good, they played quite a few cover tunes from Billy Joel to Tommy Two Tones, to Van Halen and the Beatles. Paul was playing at Sun Life Stadium the following night. Leon and his band were excellent. He had a very talented line up, guitar, bass and drums, and Leon. Leon looked and sounded as good as ever. A lot of blues and standard fare. I just stayed long enough to get a taste and some excellent photographs, as my mom is not in good health and I needed to tend to her. The Culture Room is a well run establishment that offers talent such as this in a well oiled fashion. The concert experiance overall was very memorable.

I have loved Leon Russell for at least 30 years. His unique style of playing and singing has warmed my heart and kept me rocking. He never fails to make me smile. This show was intimate, driving and electric. Although it was apparent he left a lot of the heavy rocking to the younger band members, his hand was always on the helm. What a talent! He talked to us as well as played, and although he's getting older, he's still got a dynamic performance style that shouldn't be missed.

This was a small venue, 400 seats. Leon Russell appearing there, was amazing, since it was such a small place. General admission for all... so standing in line was a must for an hour before the show. Opening act, J.P. Houston performed for 20 minutes - he's an up and coming singer/songwriter, great story-telling songs. Leon came on stage at about 7:30 pm, and performed his hits for 2 hours. He told stories between the songs, touching on the Concert For Bangladesh, and the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tours. I have been a fan for a few decades now,so it was a special treat to be so close to him, and to actually watch him play from 10 feet away. His back up band was was tight, with some strong musicianship there. I just missed the female back-up singers - that would have set this show over the top. Not a bad seat in the house, and a night to remember!

Every performance by Leon Russell is a treat for me. This one was particularly nice because it was his birthday and the stage setting/layout at Golden Nugget was fantastic. The crowd followed an enthusiastic fan's leas and sang Happy Birthday. Leon hits the keyboard the moment he is seated at the piano. He absolutely does not quit until the show is over. Over the years, he's become conversational and shares stories about the writing or setting of many song. His on stage group was amazing. His song selection included songs from every era. I've been a Leon fan since he was a young man; in fact, I suppose since I was a very young lady. He never disappoints.

Leon was so fun. It was his birthday. How nice of him to come and entertain us on his birthday. The crowd was ready with signs cakes flowers etc and at one point in the show all broke out in a happy birthday 74 and still giving the best of shows. Thank you Leon and we love you that's why! Brought my 18 year old son and he loved it

A magical evening with twenty five of my favorite songs. The solo piano set made a lump in my throat. His voice stronger and richer than in a long time, Leon wrapped the tunes with stories and anecdotes of his life and peers. Elvis, Dylan, BB King, Ivory Joe, Gram Parsons, even a funny one about his ex-wife told in a very cute and understanding way. Leon is a gem! The room was very nice, the door staff were gracious and welcoming, most people were on time and so was Leon! A wonderful show. I will gladly drive to Tahoe again when he returns there.

The sound in the theater was so loud it distorted his voice couldn't understand any of the words he was singing. He also should have stuck to his original versions of his songs..

73 years old and still touring....amazing! What I found incredible was that Leon never looked at any piano keys, music, or lyrics. He sat and played for two hours straight without missing a beat. A true talent.

Like a good wine, Leon just gets better with age. Loved the stories and the obvious connection to and appreciation of the audience.
Although I love his music, his time has come and gone. I was however surprised that his voice sounded pretty good for his age, unlike some others we have seen in concert. It was just really boring and it seemed that because his voice wasn't as good anymore, the instruments got louder and you couldn't hear what he's was singing.
Another Great show from Leon. He doesn't talk that often during his shows usually, but tonight he had plenty to say. Fun to hear the stories from the past.
From what I was able to hear, Leon Russell and his band were very good. But the sound was so bad that it was hard to tell. The drums were so loud they dominated the other instruments, the bass was loud, distorted, and muddy, and most of the time I could barely make out the singing and piano. The Talking Stick stage is a small space, so there is just no excuse for the bad sound. Everyone was complaining on the way out. Casino management said it wasn"t their fault, it was the fault of the sound guys that were brought in with the band. I don"t know whose fault it is, and I don"t care -- the point is, I should have saved the ticket money.
Great show. Havent seen him in decades. His band was tight. But the favorite part was when they left the stage and it was Leon, a few stories and the piano. That was what I wanted to see. His show was concise and to the point. Felt he didn't have the energy for more, but I left happy.
I didn't know much about Leon Russell when I ordered tickets, but I figured he had been around for a while so I took a leap. The show was awesome. He is very entertaining and he is very talented. Loved the variety of music. Sometimes the sound in the venue is a little off, but I am now a Leon Russell fan

There is a reason Leon is in rock hall of fame and song writers hall of fame,he is multi talented. Who else can introduce his songs by telling his personal stories about Elvis, George Harrison ,BB king, Elton JOhn and Bob Dylan. HIs voice is strong and his keyboards are flawless. He remains the MASTER of space and time keep on rockin Leon

The Space at Westbury was the perfect venue to see Leon Russell. It is an inviting intimate space. Leon Russell was phenomenal. He did a good selection of music, told amusing stories of where some of his music came from. The man hasn't missed a beat. I would see him again in a heartbeat.

Was excited to visit The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center, and thought the atmosphere was nice. The sound system was very good. Leon on the other hand was like a robot, belting out song after song, without taking a breath. Every tune sounded the same, I could not understand the words or recognize any song other than Tightrope. Very disappointed,

Excellent show - Leon Russell had great stories, was so animated, great piano playing & singing. His band was so talented. I had to hold my breath when the drummers wall fell & almost knocked Leon off the piano. They are all such pros & didn't miss a beat & just kept playing. True pros!

The man is incredible. He played for 90 minutes w/o a break and I loved his solo set. He covered most of the favorites and threw in some good ol fashioned rock & roll. Only draw back, ( well besides the snow storm but still a packed house) was the sound had too much reverb and you really could not understand some of the words. It was loud as well and we were close up.

I LOVE LEON! Can"t stop listening to his music! Hope I'm listening to him when my last breathes come. The venue was good. I drove 150 miles there and would go again. Will watch for upcoming events. Sometimes though it was SO loud it took some time to figure out what he was playing, I was glad when the ushers stepped in on the drunken girls 4 rows in front of me. Sorry band but would have enjoyed more Leon less band. esp when he talked with the audience. I only wish I had bought tickets to see him again the next night in Orlando.

Amazing show full of little chats between songs. Leon is quite a storyteller and touched so many lives. I feel so lucky to have heard what he shared with us on this night as he is usually not so chatty.

Great show by a legend! Leon played all the songs his fans love. He is 74 years old but you would not know by his playing and singing He told great stories of his life in music and his piano was on fire. Great back up band!!! His guitar player switched from guitar, mandolin, steel guitar and key boards! As always he had a very tight band The show left no doubt why he is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! Hope he comes back soon!!!!!!

I recognized about 2 songs. I often wonder why an artist thinks that rearranging their past hits would be good thing? Dylan does it at almost every concert and now Leon Russell? It's their right, it's their creation. But, I believe they get bored and feel their audience will get restless or worse, bored. Do they listen to the musicians in the band and feel like they need to spice things up? Why mess around with standards like Lady Blue? Sorry Leon, this new song ain't for me.
