This was an extraordinary show. His performance was beautiful. A nostalgic evening with just a slight political undertone only when he mentioned the 5 Cuban nationals imprisoned in the US for which he dedicated "Cancion del Elegido" and during his introduction of "La Era esta pariendo un Corazon", which he explained he wrote for "El Che". The crowd roared "Viva Cuba" during various moments during the show. Several encore songs were performed both with his new flute, bass, percussion and guitar ensemble as well as solo with his guitar. I felt I was part of history as, until the beginning of his tour a couple of weeks ago in Carnegie Hall this month, he had not been back in the US for over 30 years. I hope to see him again someday. What a great night. Te queremos Silvio!!!

Silvio gave his all, and then some. After more than an hour (The Show started at 8:30 pm) He finished a beautiful show; where his musicians and him gave a high quality show. Not only because of his beautiful music. But it shows that this people care for what they were playing. It showed that they were putting "Alma Vida y Corazon" (Soul, Life & Heart!). It never show better after the 4 Encores they gave US! After more than and Hour they came back after what it seemed that they were done for an Encore. After that Silvio came back by himself; after that he left and then came back all of them and then after that He came back one more time all by himself. And after that all of them came back one more time to finish the show. While every time the public (Included myself) were shouting "Otra" (One more time) and of course "Silvio"! The show lasted 2 and an half hours! We're hope it doesn't take 30 years to see him again!

Sheer pleasure! Silvio was on stage with the four members of his band and their instruments - they did not need any fancy lights, extravagant backdrops or anything to distract one from the fabulous music they made! On top of that, he delighted us with around four curtain calls and each time it was an accoustic rendition of one of his classics. He sang a song about Guardian Angels that just made me (and my husband) cry...the depth of his lyrics is truly amazing. We hope it is not another 30 years before he comes back to thrill us. p.s. Please get his name right...it is Silvio Rodriguez

I have been a Silvio's fan since the 80's and to see him was a A dream come true !!!! Super performance from Silvio and I believe that this was his first time in Los Angeles. He sang with his heart and I truly enjoyed the show. I wished he sang "Cancion de Invierno " but, there are too many for him in such limited time. I do hope that he will be back next year.

After listening to Silvio for the last 20 years, it was truly amazing to be able to see and hear him in concert. Song after remarkable song his voice remains clear and distinctive. It was like a passage into another time and place that we heard existed, but couldn't be sure of it until now. It was definitely worth the 1,600-mile car trip.

Went with my wife to this excellent concert by the well known Cuban artist Silvio Rodriguez and his musicians. His performance was so good that poor Silvio, after seemingly ending the show, performed, oh, I don't quite recall but it was at least five encores! Performed several of his old classics (Sueño con Serpientes; Unicornio; La Maza; Ojala'; etc.) as well as several excellent new compositions I'm not famliar with; I will have to get his newer CDs! Paramount Theater was very nice and classy as well, my first concert there. Perfect venue for this great performer.

Excellent event! brilliant poet/singer. Great to be exposed to what cuba is all about- fraternity, humanity, hope, and inspiration. The other musicians were also virtuosos, not surprisingly... The venue added to the beauty and the event went smoothly and seamlessly. A true gift for the soul!

Silvio as usual, was marvelous. Some in the audience, however, were not so marvelous, either too hungry for him or too drunk. Too many people yelling and obscuring the words and music. Also, many people were filming with their cell phones for long periods of time, which was distracting. I felt the security was lax on that regard, they should've taken the damn phones away after the third warning! The prices charged for admission were obscene, in my opinion. I feel that some tighter security was justified, especially after paying that much. Despite all this, the show was unforgettable. Silvio is just...amazing. Plus, the venue itself is a work of art. What a gorgeous theatre!

Wonderful performance, great musicians, each one of them. Silvio, beautiful, smart, inspirational, generous ( five encore songs) . Sound and stage were very good. One feed back issue for improvement would be to have people seated before the concert starts. It was very annoying to have the ushers trying to read tickets many times, for several moments in front of the middle of the row. For the people seating on the first three rows, that is. Or, if people are late, sometimes they do not get to go to their seats until the song being played is over, or tell the ushers to assist late comers from the isles, instead of blocking the view of customers that came on time to fully appreciate the show.

The music of Silvio is inspiring and sends a strong message to continue to struggle for what is just in the world. His band was incredible as well. I know all his songs and thoroughly enjoyed the arrangements. His flautists was superb. I also loved the instrumental of Chan Chan and the tres player. Silvio and his band were entirely generous, playing for 2 and a half hours with several encores. As always, I loved Ojala!. And in addition a newer song whose title I do not know. Every moment was a highlight.

The artist and band impeccable as usual. The accent on featuring romantic songs, not too much on the political issues was a plus to keep the flow of his best poetry. The crowd was too hyper and loud taking away the ambiance necessary for that type of music. People should be warned "no pictures or flash allowed" at the beginning of the show by the organizers. Some rude fellows were even ignoring the security guards efforts after 15 minutes of picture taking. The attendants were very polite and professional. The theater awesome! a jewel I plan to visit again in some other classical music or ballet event.

Silvio brings the pain, the emotion, the love of a whole continent and turns it into a song... His work is exceptional, beautiful like an afternoon by the beach, like a painting still unfinished by Dali, like the beautiful madness suffered by Don Quijote... All I can say is thanks, Silvio, for keeping us focused and awake!

I gave up many years ago on the idea I would ever be at a Silvio Performance. Then 3 days before the concert a friend told me he was coming to L.A. for the first time in 30 years. I bought the tickets the same night. Too bad it was the final game of the Lakers so I missed half the show. Regardless, he played all my favs, and he did it with the same voice of 4 decades of continuous genious. Truly, a dream from childhood that came unexpectedly true.

Silvio was unforgettable but you could tell he was exerting an immense self-control with the imbecilic crowds that were given access to the central-front part of the Center. They constantly screamed at each pause in the song, asking for a specific song and many times interrupting outright a song., Silvio on several occasions had to add extra metres to a song just to allow for idiots like these to vent their raucous joy. Needless to say, if one cannot enjoy Silvio in such an intimate arena as the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, there is NO PLACE to do so. A true pity for fans of the homo sapiens variety.

My wife and I really enjoyed the show. The Acoustics, the overall sound, and group of people who attended were awesome. My wife and I paid extra money to get front row seats (it was our one and only gift that we afforded this year) and was well worth it. We were just captivated by Silvio and being so close to him only increased this sense of being hypnotized. Lastly, Silvio brings a distinct group of people together, who are conscience of the world, their communities, and love and it was really cool being in that type of environment.

Seeing Silvio Rodriguez perform live it was truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. The man is such a poet and great singer, but at the same time so simple, t-shirt and jeans type of man. I cannot recall another concert where I was on the verge of tears. Silvio Rodriguez, the Cuban Trova, singer is nothing less than a genius -- a truly gifted lyricist and musician who should be considered among the most brilliant songwriters of his, or any, generation. Mr. Rodriguez brought to the stage the verve, mastery and presence of a master performer and his accompanying musicians were absolutely brilliant. It was a rare concert, one that comes along only on the rarest of occasions. I will truly remember this one with great joy.

The concert was sober and straight forward. Silvio Rodriguez and his band were through and through professionals. The music was first rate and the songs as performed by Mr. Rodriguez were amazing. At 64, Mr. Rodriguez retains that rare quality lacking in many performers half his age, he can sing, plays his guitar well, and injects belief and passion to the lyrics that rain on the audience with a freshness one cannot easily find. As I walked out of the concert, I pondered why our government prevented our people from having access to artists of Mr. Rodriguez caliber. Culture should forever remain beyond the reach and manipulation of governments who all the while claim to be the eternal guardians of freedom and democracy. Let's bring Silvio and his band back to Los Angeles.
