I traveled all the way from Cleveland, Ohio to hear the Dubuque Symphony perform and was not disappointed in the least!!! The evening was packed full of wonderful music, very entertaining!! This Orchestra never ceases to amaze me, well worth the travel time to get there!! If you've never experienced this group of professionals, do yourself a favor and invest in a ticket!

I attended both the family concert and the evening concert. Both were thrilling. My 5 year old grandson was very attentive and swayed to the music. After the "pirates...) he said "I wanna see the movie". The evening concert expanded on material from the family concert. With the opening "Star Wars" theme, I returned to the first time I saw the movie in its original run. I remembered the awe I felt seeing spaceships that seemed to fly right over m head. I doubt that that scene would have had nearly the same impact without John Williams music. And that goes for music from all his film work. The concert ended with what has to be one of my 5 favorite classical pieces. The orchestra did a fabulous job with the complex harmonies and rhythms. scheherazade Is one of the first classical pieces that I fell in love with and that experience was repeated stunningly on Saturday night. Thank you for a night to remember. PS: A full production of "West Side Story"!!! Unbelievable. I hate to wish my life away but I'll have to admit that I can't wait.

Wonderful performance and good selection of pieces. I went with my sons (9 & 11) to expose them a little bit to classical music and I think they liked it.

The group made a big sound for a rather small ensemble. Intonation was very good through the strings, Low brass played terrific, especially the trombones on the berlioz and the respighi. First trumpet is a nice player-rich tone. Second trombone, too. He had a great sound. Piano player was wonderful-complete command of the instrument. great concert all the way around.

What a great evening. It was our 40th Anniversary and so this was a big night out for us including driving from Green Ba to Dubuque. The combination of the Abbamania group along with the Dubuque Symphony was fabulous. It is always fun to attend a concert where you know all the songs. It brings back memories as well as making new ones. The back and forth teasing between the orchestra director and the singers was an added bonus. I hope we have an opportunity to to attend a Dubuque Symphony concert sometime in the future. We would enjoy seeing & hearing Abbamania again.

I thought the talking in between the songs got a little corny and sometimes hard to hear, but the music was amazing and loved the singing. It is great that we have such talented musicians in Dubuque.

The music was fantastic. Great sounds from the orchestra, chorale and soloists. It's just too bad that the stage was brought so far forward that most of us in the balcony couldn't see the dancers or soloists. Almost impossible to see them, except from the front couple of rows. So, great music. Great interaction with the audience by the conductor. Just tough to see all the performers...

I can not say enough about the program. Their choices of instrumental was well balanced with song. It was not borring or tiring. Adding the ballet dances for the Nut Crackers dances of Spain, Asia and Russia was just another suprising momemt. We also did not know that there is a ballet company in Dubuque. We would be interested in knowing more. Getting back to the Holiday Pops Celebration the Hallelua Choirs was a perfect ending.

My husband and I attended the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra - Holiday Pops Celebration Friday night. Absolutely wonderfully! The sound was fantastic, the vocalists were clear, and strong. The added surprise for us was the dancers. This is our 2nd Holiday pops concert, the first was in another city. This concert was definitely better for sound, music choices, and entertainment. We will be back another year! I just wish the location of the venue was more clear. we went to the main entrance, and had to walk around the block to get to the theatre. I'm glad the weather wasn't too cold as we were in dress clothes, not winter walking clothing.

On Sunday afternoon the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra hosted Midori for her final activity of a week filled with encounters with about 3000 Dubuque area youth. This community was honored with Midori's presence, wisdom, and outstanding performances. After visiting with a number of school groups, a public interview with Conductor William Intriligator, and a concert with the Dubuque Symphony Youth Orchestra, Midori closed the two weekend Dubuque Symphony Orchestra concerts by magnificently performing Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major. It was a fitting finish to the program that began with Dvorak's "New World" Symphony No. 9 in E Minor performed with incredible energy and beauty by the talented local orchestra.

As a first timer a number of things were observed. The musicians and conductor are incredible! The chorus was wonderful to hear and observe as they so showed that they were enjoying the music. The theater has so much character and history! Next time I will get seats not in the top of the balcony for a bit more leg room, although the view and sound were really good. My biggest disappointment was that although one respects the original work, I have heard Brahms "Requiem" sung in English and I feel the audience would have gotten even more from the text than the paper with the translation provided. Overall it was a wonderful concert and I will come again!

I thought it was exquisite. My husband said that it was the best concert with the Chorale and Orchestra he had heard, and that is saying something.

The DSO is always fun! This show was no exception. The orchestra was amazing, conductor William Intriligator is a blast to watch, and the guest violinist blew me away. I spent a little more this time on a better seat (usually I get a cheap seat and can't see the full orchestra). It was well worth the additional $10!

We sat in the balcony. You could heard the audio from the other production in the building. Distracting and unfortunate. Took away from the experience. I could tell others around us also noticed.

My husband & I have enjoyed the Dubuque symphony for several years and were excited to take our 4 children to a family-friendly event. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed this mini-concert as much as our 4 year old, and the length was just perfect to keep the kids' attention. The jingle bells that the kids were given to ring were a great idea, and each of our kids had a different favorite part!

The Concert was so wonderful! It was the perfect thing to put me in the Christmas spirit. The orchestra was superb and the special guests, two local choirs, a classically trained singer and the Dubuque ballet were a very special treat! Well worth the price!

Puccini's "Madam Butterfly" set and sung in the Five Flags Theater had its opportunities for great art and for chaos. Certainly the inside-out staging (down to up stage) of monitors, singers, conductor, orchestra was a concession to the difficulties of the hall yet it worked! This was the DSO in its finest hour. The show (Sat) was carried by Madame Pinkerton whose artistry was truly wonderful. Hats off too for Musical Direction by W. Intrilligator who commanded and blended all the elements of a magical performance. The musical artristry level of DSO performances is on the rise.

The "Holiday Pops" was absolutely wonderful. The Mistletones performed to perfection and were very entertaining. We loved the presentation and choice of music and think Dr. Intriligator, besides being an excellent director and conducor, exudes a warm sense of enthusiasm to the audience and made us feel happy to be there. Thank you for a great program!
