Ryan Bingham & the Dead Horses

I don't go to a lot of concerts, but seeing Oscar and Grammy winning Ryan Bingham with his band The Dead Horses was too good to pass up, especially for 15 bucks! I was not disappointed! I own all of the bands albums and love to sing along to many of his songs in the car. It's just great music and Ryan is a true poet. Seeing them live only makes the music that much more richer. The band clearly has great chemistry and the musicianship was exceptional. I had never been to the Eagle's Club before so I had no idea what to expect in terms of the venue. I knew it was a smaller venue so it was cool to be so close to the band. I know music is supposed to be played loud, but I must say in such a small space it probably wasn't the best acoustics. The music was so loud in fact it was painful at some points. I think this band belongs playing in slightly larger venues and I bet they sound amazing outside where the sound has room to travel. I also enjoy the fact that Ryan's music is relevant to the world at large, however I like the fact that listening to his albums it's easy to interpret his messages anyway you want. I understand that there are some politics involved in his music, but to be honest I wish that the bands would have left some of their political believes out of the show. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on issues, but in all honesty I just wanted to enjoy some good music without being sent a political message. The music and performance was so good that it still kept me engaged enough to overlook that. Overall I would highly recommend Ryan Bingham and The Dead Horses! If you like old school country rock, Americana and fantastically written songs that are relate able, definitely catch them. If you like good music in general it's really a no brainier! Ryan Bingham and The Dead Horses are one of the freshest new bands out there and I look forward to following them in what I hope is a long and successful career. There is no doubt that I will try to go see them again when they come back to town. Wonderful stuff! Keep it going Ryan!

Ryan and the guys always put on a wonderful show. The fiddle player added a new dimension to the music. The sound, pace, and enthusiasm of this group always guarantees a great evening.

Ryan Bingham is one of the BEST artist around... he puts on a great show. He is legendary and it's an honor to see him live!!

Enjoyed this very much, you could tell that he was very serious about getting his point across through his music and lyrics. The performance was good, and I really enjoyed listening to the opening band "The silent comedy", ended up getting the album. Great experience.

I went to the concert to see Ryan Bingham not an hour plus of warm up acts. The show was scheduled to start at 8:00. Ryan Bingham didn't start playing until 10:00. If I wanted to see mediocre acts like Silent Comedy I would sign up for them.

I was totally impressed with the show. My wife saw him open up for WIllie Nelson last year and said that I would dig it. We are now convinced after seeing him, that he is the next big thing in music. I recommend that everyone see him as soon as possible!

I was tired from Super Bowl partying and hesitated going to this concert. But I had my ticket so I dragged myself out. Boy am I glad I did. Ryan Bingham put on an amazing show. He really kicked butt and lifted me right out of the fog I was in. I loved every minute from start to finish. He gives everything to his show and you can tell he loves performing. His band "The Dead Horses" were an absolutely fantastic, talented trio. I HIGHLY recommend this show!

Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses proved that they are tops when it comes to Americana music. They played for almost 2 hours, took requests from the crowd, and sounded amazing. If you have not seen them yet, go now!

i was very excited to be having the chance to see ryan and his band. we traveled from lansing michigan to cleveland and i am glad we did, as the show was everything i expected and more. the music was awesome with the band playing almost everysong from ryans three album catalog in the two hour plus set. the grog shop is a very small venue with basically the barest amenities giving it that raw intimate feel. its easy to see and feel why mr bingham is a academy award winning performer, some things just come natural, and he is truely a talent we will be hearing and seeing for many years to come

Show was great and the encore was amazing!!!!! Sound was very good. It started on time, if you didn't know where your seat was there were plenty of people working the event to show you.

Ryan and his band sounded phenomenal. One of those rare artists that sound better live than they do on the album. If you haven't seen Ryan Bingham & the Dead Horses live, you're missing out!

Bingham is hands down one of the greatest artists the good Lord's ever blessed the earth with & this show was truely fucking great :D

Ryan Bingham was awesome, the crowd was unnappreciative of the music and Billy Bobs was aweful for a concert, good bar if you trying to find a date but not good for people who actually appreciate good music!

The show itself was great, good sound and setlist and performance, but the venue could have been better. Too crowded and not enough seats.

Ryan BIngham did not disappoint. He did not have much to say between songs, but he did not need to because he had the crowds attention just by his songs that are even better live then on his record. Billy Bobs was a packed house that night and it was apparent why. A much deserving award winning artist was on stage to perform for his fans that adore him.

These guys ALWAYS perform at the highest of standards. They played songs from all three CD's. A couple of the songs from the Junky Star were arranged a little differently, but sounded great! The sound quality was good for this venue. I would always recommend seeing Ryan Bingham any time he's in the area, would not recommend Billy Bob's Texas. They sacrifice quality for quantity in most areas. The show was sold out and apparently they didn't have the staff to handle the crowd. Security was being handled by middle aged women. There were no waitresses serving our table, and no one taking care of the many, many empty beer bottles left on the floor.

Billy Bob's is just a terrible place for a concert. I lived in FTW for 4 years and went to plenty concerts. To get close you have to sit reserved, which means that you are sitting the entire time. I sat reserved for this one and the volume was so low that I was able to have a conversation with the guy next to me without raising my voice. I have been to over 7 Bingham shows and this one and the last one at HoB in Houston have far and away been the most, for lack of a better word, lame because of the venue.

Awesome! They are better live than on an album. The blue note was a perfect small location and not too crowded. The opener was amazing too. U must see Ryan Bingham and the dead horses live!!!!

Wife and I really enjoyed this show. I hadn't heard of Ryan Bingham before Crazy Heart, so I went out and got all of his albums and I've been spinning them ever since. Can't pick a favorite because they all seem like a logical progression from Steve Earle, Uncle Tupelo, and the like. He didn't play anything from the film, but he shouldn't feel obligated to play those two songs, so that's not a big deal. His set was fantastic without the two Crazy Heart songs, and he's confident enough in his music not to rely on the soundtrack. The only real issue we had was all the smoke -- BIrdy's isn't well ventilated so the smoke just sort of hangs. They didn't have the ceiling fans on, either. The people next to us were ashing over the upstairs rail, down on the people below. Wow. Took us two showers to get the smell off us. Wife is allergic and I get headaches; two days later I'm still feeling it. I'm sure some smokers will call us whiners and tell us not to go to shows anymore, like that's a reasonable solution. Anyway, overall, it's worth seeing these guys rock out, and in no way detracts from the music.

My first Ryan Bingham show and I'm hooked! Just love his sound - blues, jazz, irish, country, freaking fabulous. I'm going again!

Ryan Bingham had a great show, but didn't bring the same energy as his opener, The Silent Comedy.

First of all the cover band, The Silent comedy, kicked a**!!! The venue was amazing, drinks were good, and the croud was into it. Then Ryan Bingham plays and he was incredible. My girlfriend and I had an awesome night and would love to see him play again!

We got there early, got to the front of the stage, and had an amazing time! The opening bands were great, the Dead Horses are so talented, and Ryan sounds better in person than as a recording. Highly recommended.

Ryan Bingham showed why he is a rising star in this concert at the Wonder Ballroom in Portland. Terrific show, with lots of energy. Only negatives were a somewhat muddy sound system, which garbled some of the vocals and the Bingham's accoustic playing, and a focus on up-tempo rockers at the expense of some of Bingham's softer, bluesy ballads.

Ryan Bingham was fabulous, great lyrics, arrangements, and he and The Dead Horses are super musicians. If I had one complaint it's that they did nothing from Crazy Heart; maybe I'm just old but I was really looking forward to hearing The Weary Kind. All in all a great night, nice venue, good people, and OK sound.

What a great venue and it was an amazing show all around. Ryan is the most talented musician I've seen in a long time...to see him live....WOW!

It was a seriously rocking show. Mixed with a few slow songs, but definitely NOT a mellow show at all. Really, only a few mellow and otherwise a head-banging good time. I was really really impressed-- first time seeing him live. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Wow, how refreshing to see a band that is indeed even better LIVE than they are on CD.

This show was absolutely great! Everything I expected form this band and then some. Played some really jammed out versions of some great songs. Didn't play some of their really popular songs, but all of it rocked even without them. Overall a gem of a show.
