Angus & Julia Stone
Angus & Julia Stone's intimate folk music is anchored by the band's namesake siblings, with percussionist Mitch Connelly and bassist Clay McDonald adding their own contributions to the mix. Growing up on the northern beaches of Sydney, the Stone siblings were schooled in pop music at an early age by their father, who played in a local cover band. In 2005, Julia Stone began teaching trumpet lessons while her brother Angus worked as a laborer. She convinced him to test his musical talents by performing locally, and he responded by bringing her on-stage with him as a backing musician.

About 6 months ago I stumbled upon these guys and really like them. Her voice is catchy and lots of the music and lyrics are both fun and thought provoking. But at the Neptune the sound system was off, the bass so loud you couldn't hear the words or half the music and the lighting people for some reason kept shining the spots into the faces of the audience. Then about halfway through the show we began to suspect that Angus was becoming really wasted. About the only new appreciation for me was that Julia is a great trumpet player.

The concert was absolutely amazing. They played all my favorite songs and then some (which is a lot since I like them all). They had a great mix of songs from the previous and new album. I was also very impressed with the dynamics of the small venue. It was personal yet still felt like a concert. Considering it was held in a synagogue, I was very impressed with the lighting. I absolutely loved it.

First I'll admit to being a newer fan of Angus Stone. I've been familiarizing myself with his back catalog for the past year or so. When I saw he was coming to town, to the Historic Sixth & I, it sounded perfect. Well...The venue is great. Sound, size, comfortable, great viewing angles from nearly every seat. The problem for me was that the show seamed to be promoting Julia Stones new album. Angus seemed to be more of a band member than the front man, as Julia did almost all of the talking (and singing). I could tell Angus seemed either "high, or shy" but come-on-man be a pro and step up. I really felt as though he took the night off. Maybe sang one song, i don't know ...it wasn't much. GREAT BAND, sounded awesome in the old building, but i just seemed like a promo tour for Julia's stuff. Oh Well, not my cup of tea I guess. Can not Recommend this tour.

They have to be some of the most talented people in the world. They were extremely enjoyable to watch perform. The only problem was the fact that I was surrounded by EXTREMELY tall people and therefore couldn't see too well. However, Angus and Julia were amazing and I was so happy. I wish the show was longer, though. They performed all my favorite songs too!

I drove from los Angeles to San Diego to watch them and I'd do it again. They play beautifully and with so much heart! I wish there was merchandise to buy. I was looking forward to that.

We missed the opening band, but thankfully we made it right in time to see the opening to the main show. Both of there voices are so striking, it's truly hauntingly beautiful. I loved it, but they didn't just sing they played different instruments throughout the whole show. Some time more than one at the same time, and it in no way diminished the quality. If you like there music on record then you would fall in love with them live. I highly recommend seeing them live. The show was lots of fun.

They were amazing! Damien Rice popped in for a song. And as much as I love him, I simply didn't care. I just wanted more of Angus and Julia.

It was unforgettable. Angus and Julia Stone are my favorites and after the show I was able to meet them. The venue was great and I loved how it was small. I would have liked for them to start on time, though.
