This show is one of the best I've been to. I'd never been to the venue (the 6th & I Synagogue in DC) but was surprised how great the acoustics of the room were, and how beautiful it was a s well. I was only vaguely familiar with Joe Henry (although his song "Civil War" had become a song addiction in the weeks before the show) and knew John Smith from his tour with Lisa in 2011. The mix of the voices, including Ross Turner on drums, banjo and singing, was truly wonderful. Any time you can see one of all of these artists, take the time to do so. Slainte!

I have been a casual fan of Miss Hannigan for a bit of time now, but this show legitimately turned me into the craziest Lisa H. enthusiast this side of Kilkenny. I can't recommend her highly enough for any true lover of good, quality music. It's like comfort food for the ears. Unique instrumentations, original songwriting, and such an endearingly soft-spoken front-woman combined for a concert experience unlike any other. I would gladly pay 10 times what I paid to see her again. And the sad fact is, I'll probably have to. $15/ticket was the steal of the century.

Having only known her as, "that artist with Damien Rice" I was curious to hear her solo. She was simply amazing. I've seen Lisa twice in concert and each time was awesome! She and her band are not only talented, but truly connect with their audience. It's refreshing to see a true musician today when the market is so saturated with plastic-wrapped, industry manufactured crap. If you have the chance to see her - GO!

Always hard to review since music is subjective, but if you enjoy Lisa Hannigan then don't miss her live. She has presence and makes beautiful, soulful music and her band is terrific. First time at Teragram and I will definitely go back for the sound and the intimacy of the place.

This is one of the best shows I've ever had the privilege to attend! It was refreshing to see the band members take turns leading in song or music or both. Lisa's voice and musicality are mesmerizing. Joe's lyrics and musianship and presence, were and are fantastic-- and anchored the youthful beauty of Lisa's music. All the music had incredible energy and I loved the blend of warmth, kindness, passion, light-heartedness and unabashed depth the group shared with the audience. Sixth and I is a great venue, too, and hearing these talented musicians in a sacred space only added grace and spirit to the experience!

Lisa Hannigan is a very talented and enjoyable performer and I loved hearing her sing. Unfortunately, in this show, I didn't hear her very much. There were many problems with the sound system. When I could hear the music, I was disappointed to discover that much of it was Joe Henry's rather than Lisa Hannigan's despite her being given first billing on the website and ticket. I did not feel that I saw the show I paid for.

Lisa was incredibly amazing, it was simply unfortunate that she had to tour with Joe Henry because he was overpowering her vocals with his wanna-be Dylan vocals. I absolutely can't wait to see Lisa again, I just really hope next time it's without Joe. As we were walking back to the car - we overhead other groups saying the same thing. Raving about Lisa's performance but complaining about Joe Henry.

i think the event title is misleading. the performances of both John Smith and Joe Henry were good, but the reason we went was to see Lisa perform. the set format was different, but i did not want to hear 2 songs from joe henry, 1 from john smith, and one from lisa hannigan, and have it all repeat again. it resulted in hearing give or take 6 songs from lisa's albums. with this event being about 1 hour and 30 minutes long, i didn't get to see or hear much of lisa's songs. performances were great, but i paid to see lisa hannigan - not joe henry and john smith. lisa's previous engagement in los angeles was a lot more enjoyable and was the reason why i had decided to see her live again.

Missed seeing the real Lisa Hannigan. Instead we got Joe singing her songs, a terrible sound mix and a disappointing show from 1/2 of her band. Where was the Lisa we've come to know and love?

Lisa was amazing! As always she makes her collaborators sound like gold! John Smith is a rising star and really dynamic. I think every woman, and some men, in the hall was falling in love with his unique voice and British charm! And sexy handlebar mustache. Yup. Joe Henry was simply outmatched by these stellar performers. He must be a stellar producer, Lisa Hannigan's Passenger is art. But, he is NOT a dynamic performer, too much talk, no action.

One common denominator for Lisa & friends when she tours and whomever she tours with, they always deliver a bigger than life show, sharing the stage, and showcasing diverse talents. This was such a good show and you don't want to miss them when they're in your area. You'll be pleasantly surprised when John Smith (guitarist) gives a sample of some of his new solo project.

unfortunately there was also Joe Henry. Absolutely took away from all the other talent. His Gimmicky singing style was at best distracting. She doesn't need this guy on the same stage. Won't see her again until she drops him. And I am a loyal fan.

Huge Lisa fan...did not know much about Joe Henry. It ended up being a split bill, which is why it was just an recommended show - they backed each other and were accompanied by Lisa's percussionist and guitarist (John Smith) who also sang some of his original songs. Smith opened for Lisa at her Brighton Music Hall date last year and was a welcomed addition to the song collection. Lisa was fantastic but mainly focused on stuff from her latest album Passenger - which wasn't a bad thing, but her show a few months back at this same venue was excellent. Mic problems hampered the music for the beginning portion of the evening. See Lisa with her full band - that's a show not to be missed !!!

This was quite possibly the worst concert I have ever been to and I left after less than an hour. Let me explain why - 1. Location. Paradise Rock Club. Been there a bunch of times, probably my favourite Boston live music venue. Small enough to get close to the stage, but large enough to hang out with a about a thousand of your closest friends. It is a general admission venue, all standing, split on two levels. Except for this concert there were seats. Okay, we get there about 8:30, for a show listed to start at 8 and all the centre-stage seats are taken (understandably) so are the stage-right seats, but there are some seats still open stage-left. 2. Opening Band - there wasn't one. The audience sat in silence until after 9 when Lisa and Joe came on. 3. View - appalling. Who designs their set so that the drummer is further forward than the headliner? All I, and everyone else stage-left, could see was the drummer and the drumset. If you imagine an arc curving from stage-left to the back of the stage to stage-right, the drummer was at the beginning of the arc, Lisa and Joe at the middle of the arc (at the back of the stage) and the guitarist stage-right at the end of the arc. Yes, Lisa and Joe were at the back of the stage, view obstructed by the drumset and what made it worse was she sat down for a large part of the show, making her even more difficult to see. After a couple of numbers I gave up and tried to find a better vantage spot. 4. Acoustics - this is a rock club. It isn't designed for a quiet acoustic set. Berklee Performance Centre or MFA would have been better suited for this type of show. It was so quiet that from stage-right all I could hear was the traffic from the road or the clinking of glasses from the bar. When people started to complain, Lisa said she couldn't make it any louder. I love this venue and I love the music of Lisa Hannigan, but between the stage set-up, the seating and the acoustics, it was a disaster.

I may have been in Boston, MA, but I may as well have been in Dublin. Lisa Hannigan and her band are such fine musicians. It is easy to get lost in the pure quality of Lisa's voice. The subtle yet sublime manner of these musicians is true magic. They exude a graciousness on stage that washes over the audience like a fine Irish Whiskey!

Beautiful voice, great musical talent with various instruments, and has a fantastic traveling band. Very intimate venue and performance. She was also bantering with the crowd and was lovely, funny, and friendly. Loved how she was obsessed with crabcakes that she had eaten earlier that day from Legal Seafood. Encore included a really cool cover of "Personal Jesus." Cannot believe I got to see such a wonderful performance for such a great price. Opening act (of what I saw) was also a great performer - plus he played with her for most of her performance. Gavin Glass - worth getting his music, too.

This was one of my favorite concerts of the year! It was the first night of her American tour which made it even more special. Lisa is a unique, genuine, beautiful, and talented singer-songwriter. She is a true treasure. I could have listened to her for hours. Her performance was well-suited to the El Rey. I think she shines at smaller, initimate venues. Her band was terrific also. But her opening act, John Smith, was amazing. He was engaging, funny, and extraordinarily talented. He also performed with Lisa's band which was really nice. I bought his CD that night and hope to hear more from him.

Lisa Hannigan is an amazing performer! Her concert was one of the best I have ever been to. Her energy and stage presence makes for such an enjoyable experience. She is one of my inspirations for making music! She played songs from her new album and they were so great! John smith, her opening act, was so talented too! I definitely want to hear more from him.

Lisa and her band performed a great set. Lots of energy, musical virtuosity, and humor. I've liked her album quite a bit, but did not expect the live show to be as fantastic as it was. The bad was super tight and awesome. The opening act was also fantastic and he even played with the bad throughout the main set.

Lisa Hannigan is a class apart. She was amazing. She must've played at least 6 different instruments in this gig. Her support act, John Smith was good as well. Brighton Music Hall is a great venue. There was loads of room to roam around even though this event was sold out. The drink are very much affordable and there is never a queue at the bar.

I can't believe that she can hit any note vocally...but she can! She is just an amazing performer and I feel blessed to have witnessed her voice. The band was great as well, but Lisa took us to another place.
