I went to check Black Taxi out without really knowing much about them based on a friend's recommendation. Holy smokes, amazing! Bill the guitarist is especially talented, and Ezra the lead singer is just a big ball of energy and super fun to watch. I try really hard not to compare bands to other bands but I remember thinking at one point that they sounded like a mix between INXS and Prince. Great band chemistry and awesome fans just made it a really enjoyable show. I will never miss another local Black Taxi show, I'm really looking forward to the next one.

The band was great and their on stage presence was masterful. These guys have it. If something bad doesn't happen to these guys I should be able to say "I saw them when they were just starting out".

Black Taxi never disappoints - after a cd release tour that had them traveling to Florida, NOLA, Texas, Chicago and a slew of other cities in between, back in their hometown they rocked the Mercury Lounge to a sold out crowd!! Their energy is as intense and it is infectious . . . awesome, awesome show!!

The Bright Lights Social Hour and Black Taxi put up incredible shows. Would come back for either group. Would love to see Bright Light Social Hour headline a show at Bowery Ballroom or any of the other venues (mercury, terminal, etc)

Another typical Saturday night in the Lower East Side... well, not exactly... it's the single release party for Black Taxi at Mercury Lounge and a party was had by ALL! After TBLSH got us revved up and dancing, we were prepared to let loose and be rocked to the core-and the band was ready too! It started with a beat of the drum and didn't finish until it was a sweaty dance party up on the stage that proved this party was meant for everyone- the musicians, the friends, the family, and the fans. Black Taxi couldn't be stopped, whipping through new songs and sneaking in some older favorites that left us all begging for more. Ezra sang, drummed on the Gope, played trumpet and several other instruments all while maintaining a fierce stage presence, entertaining the frenzied crowd dancing and singing along. Krisana played the bass to the screaming fans and clapping his hand against his heart at the end of a few songs in thanks to us all in attendance. All of this occurring while Bill is blazing on the guitar and leading us all into a chorus and some serious hip shaking. Then it all comes together with Jason at the drums, sending the entire room into a rock n roll dance-fantastic tailspin of a night that ended on a high note when we were all "Up Here for Thinking, Down There for Dancing"! I cannot express the energy this band creates live, you simply *have* to be there! So get to a show while they're touring and be sure to check them out immediately.

It's always a good show at Mercury Lounge, but the lineup this night was incredible. Black Taxi brought their friends in Bright Light Social Club up from Austin and the two groups played back to back. (First Bright Light Social Club, then Black Taxi) There couldn't have been a better pairing!

Rockin show, the guys of Black Taxi always put 110% into their performance, and the crowd reacts accordingly. If you're not leaving a Black Taxi show dripping in sweat, you're doin it wrong. (Though Mercury Lounge could have turned some sort of air conditioning on)

Was bowled over by my first Black Taxi show a couple years ago and they keep getting better. As they were about to take the stage at the sold-out Bowery Ballroom I had to work my way through the packed floor to find a place where I could not only hear the band but also watch: conversations were put on hold while Ezra (body paint), Krisana, Bill and Jason energized the crowd with their original favorites such as Don't Count Me Out, Up Here for Thinking Down There for Dancing, Do What You Gotta Do. It's clear that these guys are having fun performing -- they use the whole stage and sometimes more -- but they do it without missing a note. I secured tickets to see them again at the Mercury Lounge, and I'm bringing a couple Black Taxi "virgins" because I get a kick out of seeing others fall under the spell.

Saw Black Taxi last weekend in greater Boston and was hooked! Totally grabbed the opportunity to travel to New York to see their show this past Saturday. Unique vibe, super talent, and a great show all around. Just like we have seen The Script explode, Black Taxi is next! See them at smaller venues now while you get the chance, I imagine them playing stadium size crowds in the not-so-distant future.

The sold out show (over 800 tickets!) was worth the scramble to find my own ticket. From DBD, the feeling was one of enchantment. They played some favorites, along with new tunes they wrote during their tour in the UK. BT was energizing and dance-orific, as usual! The energy came pouring out of the band and into the audience, making for one hell of a euphoric feeling. Good times all around!
