My husband and I went to see We Are Augustines not knowing what to expect from the other bands but I loved Band of Skulls' performance! I'll definitely consider checking them out when they're back in Minneapolis again. Augustines gave an amazing performance, just as we remembered from last time we saw them. It's great to see them becoming successful.

They played almost every song from Baby Darling Doll Face Honey and most of Sweet Sour. The crowd singing the end vocals of Impossible as soon as they started the song was amazing. I LOVED Hollywood Bowl! They played every song I really wanted to hear and every single song was truly incredible. The fact the crowd was so into every song had me blown away! I also got to meet, get my picture taken with AND got the back of my ticket signed by the band. Unforgettable night for sure!

I saw Band of Skulls for the first time at Bonnaroo 2011. This is one of those bands I will go see every time I can. GREAT band, and definitely the most rocking band the whole weekend which is not easy to say. I've been to a LOT of shows and I've never seen more crowd surfing before. They REALLY know how to get the crowd pumped!

It was a late show and I was feeling a bit old... The opening act started at 10pm but the second they hit the stage I was energized. Gringo Star was a great companion band to play with. They played musical chairs with their instruments. They all played everything and everything, well. Drums, keyboard, guitar and bass. Their best song was Holding onto Hate. I downloaded it the next day. I met Band of Skulls biggest fan and it was awesome because the lead singer played to him and I was standing right next to him, so it was like he was playing to me. They sang a lot of new songs, which made me so excited for their new album. Band of Skulls is a great band and I felt privileged to see them in such a small venue. They belong on a big stage. They rocked the roof off the place. They were energetic, played well together and were just, tight! When the crowd sang along to one of the songs, the biggest smile spread across Russell's face. It was nice to see. The in between song banter wasn't really there, but it didn't need to be because the songs were so amazing. It was a great night. I got to meet the band and take some pictures with them, also.

I have been waiting for them to come to the U.S. and I was NOT disappointed! The opening act, Gringo Star, was excellent. Band of Skulls did a wonderful mix of old and new, which made me impatient for the release of their next album. I danced. I drank. And, I had a wonderful time. Wish I could've gone to both shows.

Saw Band of Skulls at the Marquee Theater in Tempe, AZ. I had heard a few songs on the radio and wanted to hear more. They were amazing. The band was spot-on in every way. Would love for them to come back and play at a larger venue. Will definitely go see them again and I hear they're working on a new CD. Can't wait for it to come out. They are even better live than in studio. Their music is popping up in commercials, movies and TV shows, and I'm so happy for their success. My husband had never heard of them, but he fell in love with their sound as well. It's alternative rock with their own unique vibe.

The Band Of Skulls came in to Williamsburg and showed NYC how's it's done! With a dynamic singing duo and a drummer that snap, crackles, and pops, they ingnited a crowd who never stopped singing along and begged for more when it was finished. I was honored to witness a band who is on the verge of stardom... NEVER LOOK BACK BAND OF SKULLS!!! YOU RULE!!!

Good energy, great sound. Great live band. Many of the songs, to my ears, were better live than they are on the album. That is always what you want, as a concert-goer, but it's not always what you get. Band of Skulls could rock a larger venue, but I'd be ecstatic standing next to the stage at The Vogue every time they're in town. I couldn't hear well for the next several hours, my throat hurt from yelling and cheering at the show, and that's how I like it. Seriously, I cannot stop thinking about how much I enjoyed this show. I just hope the crowd was good enough for them to want to visit Indy again (and soon!).

At the Vogue, in an intamate setting, no more than approx 250 people, the Skulls KILLED IT!!! If you never have seen them, do yourself a favor, and catch them before they blow up. Already recognized as an up and coming group, the Chili Pep's have them now opening for them in the Texas leg of their tour. If you have a chance, go to one of those shows, because they'll compliment them, and perhaps "steal the show". I saw them in Detroit as well in March, and have been following them ever since. Can't wait for their next album, the first (2) are must-haves'. Very humble, very down-to-earth musicians. Peace

After playing Coachella the day before, I thought Bandof Skulls played a great set at the El Rey. The sound was somewhat muddy, perhaps I was standing a bit too close, but I'm familiar with the songs from the records so I knew what to listen for and I really want to be able to see the band up close. All the songs I wanted to hear were played and I thought the show was well worth it. A great band in my opinion.

Baby Darling Doll Face Honey and Sweet Sour are both spectacular albums but live is whère they excel. I kept how wondering how they were going to top the next song, but they kept ratcheting it up another notch. The finale lived up to its name. The drummer was a force to be reckoned with. Loved every second of it. If they keep it up, they are going to be huge.

The band was great. I have had the chance to see them two times and I am giving them a four this time around. I think they have a good show and all, but I preferred the previous one I attended. They played many songs off the old album and many from the new as well. We Are Augustines (the openers) were not enjoyable.

Showed up super early and staked out a spot in front of the stage, which ended up being directly in front of the singer/ guitarist. BoS was incredible. This is one band that is, quite honestly, even better live. They played all but 5 songs from their two albums. One song after another, non-stop incredible music. This was the best show I have been to yet, and it was made even better by being handed the setlist after the show by Russell himself.

Band of Skulls was incredible live. The show did not disappoint and all of the members are so talented that they made it look effortless. They played a mix of their first album Baby Darling Doll Face Honey and some new stuff from Sweet Sour. They also played all the crowd favorites which was definitely a plus. Lighting and special effects were excellent, music was just as good if not better than the recordings. The only downside to this concert had to do with the House of Blues. They said the show started at 7:30 but the opening act didn't even go on until 9. Normally this wouldn't be upsetting but once you get inside you cannot leave to go outside and smoke and they don't allow smoking anywhere in the venue. If you aren't a smoker, this shouldn't bother you but for those of us that are, 5 hours without a cigarette break can be rough. Overall excellent show though, definitely recommend!

This was simply an amazing show. This three piece band killed it. The drummer went nuts and broke one of his drum sticks at least once. The guitarist was incredible, he improvised during some of the songs without digressing into an endless jam. This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

Best concert I've watched in a while! (although the acoustic of the venue was a little disappointing). A few days before the concert I was obsessively listening to the few songs from the music player in Band of Skull's website, wishing they where as good alive. Not only they performed my "favorites" amazingly well, but also surprised me with a lot of stuff they don't have in the playlist.. I am definitely buying their 2 cds and spreading the news around! Technically wonderful, great lyrics, heavy enough, indie enough, (sometimes) progressive enough: Band of Skulls definitely play like grown ups, break the boredom and bring some fresh air to today's alternative rock scene. The blond vocal was dressing his superstar moods already repeatedly asking us to sing with him.. but they do have credit for they very good music! For all New Yorkers tired of Alternative rock being restricted to Indie(sh), melo and experimental, for all those who like a little bit of "weight" in their rock and roll (just the right amount), just go to their website, dare not listen to "Sweet Sour" only and don't miss their concert!

The Brit rock trio rocked the Variety Playhouse -- starting with Sweet Sour. It's easy to hear influences from blues, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Jimmy Hendrix, but their sound is still totally unique. Her vocals are Pretenders-like -- I actually wanted to hear her shine more as she's so good. The drummer KILLS it. And the lead guitarist/singer helped slow up songs and speed them down, making it less like a studio recording and exactly like the rock show we hoped for. The concert was full of both songs from both their albums. Faves were Hollywood Bowl and Cold Flame. But loved Bruises and the Devil Takes Care of his Own. I bought tix the day they went on sale and I bought their new album the week it came out. I will definitely see them every time they come through the ATL. Probably one of my all-time favorite bands.

BoSbob
I missed seeing BoS at the Newport Music Hall near the OSU campus last year. I wasn't going to make that mistake twice. My wife planned to accompany me but was ill... my buddy down the street was the benefactor. He isn't familiar with the BoS and lamented that the vocals weren't real clear. They could have been lifted a little in the mix... or he could have listened to me and 300 friends doing the sing-a-long. The volume was loud but not overpowering. I can't understand why so few people have heard of BoS... their solid rock rifts, tempo changes, catchy rifts, interesting lyrics and vocals are the best in rock. There was good use of not-too-much in the special affects department... three large lights spaced evenly behind the bands, some strobes and the regular stage lighting... but is was well synchronized with the music and very satisfying. I was wondering how well the live show would compare with the sound produced in the studio. It was obviously a little less layered but more edgy and with a fair amount of free-styling. They tended to introduce songs with an 'essence" of the rifts in the music... which resulted in a sense of something familiar but not immediate recognition of each song. The set was awesome... there was nothing there that I thought should have been left off, though I really would have liked them to do Honest (for a true ballad), Nightmares and Cold Sweat. Would have made a nice first encore. As I said, I don't understand why BoS isn't much more popular. They are playing some of the freshest, most original rock out there. My guess is they will get there. But I am hoping they will play the Newport again next year. If you get the chance, don't miss them.

I traveled from Pittsburgh, PA to the Columbus show after seeing the band in Pittsburgh and was so excited for the show. I twisted my ankle 1 block from the show. Not only did the bar tender give me a bag of ice for my ankle but the staff let me sit in the front section during the opening act to ice my ankle in a chair. Thank you so much Newport Music hall and Band of Skulls. Even though my ankle is the size of a baseball right now I had a really great time and recommend both the band and the venue to everyone. Fantastic concert, third time seeing them (Williamsburg, Paradise) and it's always something special compared to other concerts I go to. Russell and Emma's voices together are strikingly harmonic, doesn't seem like they mess with it at all when recording the albums. Band of skulls was awesome. The warm up band may have been good too, but it was way too loud & the sound not balanced so you could not hear the singer at all. First song of the Skulls was also too loud & couldn't hear the singers, but they got it fixed after that. They are talented and also seemed to be having fun. The only other negatives were that smoking is allowed in this venue & the start time on the ticket was when the doors opened. The first band didn't start for another hour & a half.

Band of Skulls - Better Than Ever! This is the third time I've seen them live; at the Bootleg in LA, the Fillmore in San Francisco, and now the Fonda in LA. The Fonda is the best place so far. A very nice venue. We spent the whole time on the floor up front, but it has a great rooftop hangout, and a nice balcony with seating. Open band was young and had some technical difficulties, but very promising in any event - IO Echo, I believe. Another unannounced band did a short set next - it wasn't short enough for me, did not enjoy that at all. 4 out of 5 star rating just for forcing me to listen to them. Finally got my BOS fix, though, and worth all inconvenience! These guys are just the right mix of raw power and actual musical talent. They do every song with intensity and purpose. Every inventive word and note comes across with purpose and artistic flare. Even more, I think I actually LIKE these people. Seem the very down-to-earth type. Their music is as good as ever, and stage presence is improving every time I see them. BOS has just struck a chord I can't actually put my finger on. All I know is I'm a lifetime fan. I hope the best for them, but am honestly regretting the day I have to go to Staples Center rather than The Fonda to enjoy their work. Great band, great music, great venue - great times!
