Best concert I've attended, and I've seen many ... Fleetwood Mac, The Stones, The Who, Rod Stewart. Anyway ... back to Elton and Leon. Seems they have been playing and singing together forever. Leon said Elton called him out of the blue last year and proposed making more music together. Seems to me they have been together forever. Good harmony, good back-up's (including Davey, Nigel, etc.) I'd pay to see them again TONIGHT if I had the opportunity.

The concert was awesome. I've seen Elton John perform numerous times in the 70's but never in a show like this. He has matured beautifully and the show was a tribute to two legends of music. Elton came out and introduced the evening, Leon sang some of his classics. Elton did the same then they proceeded to perform their new album the Union. These two should have gotten together years ago. Such wonderful piano melodies and their voices blend beautifully. I feel blessed to have seen them together and will remember this concert for years to come.
While we really enjoyed the show, it was clearly Elton John's show. We came for Leon Russell. He was amazing! We just wanted to see and hear more of him! We were hoping he would perform an encore and were disappointed he didn't. We love you Leon! You are still the master of space & time! You just left us yearning for more!

I have waited years to see Elton John and he didn't disappoint! He is truly better than ever and treated his fans to over 3 hours of incredible music! Elton John and Leon Russell were absolutely amazing and sounded better live than on any recording I have ever heard. This concert is a definite must see!

Elton John and Leon Russell brought their particular brand of rock, soul, country and old school jamming music to the Beacon Tuesday night and one cannot imagine the place being a better fit for such a fitting pair! Accustically intimate as so the energy of the audience can flow back to the performers, and With a still spry at 64 Elton clearly taking the lead for an obviously frail and ailing Russell, the musical duo introduced the audience to 14 new songs with the studio musicians that recorded them. (Kudos to them as they also had to learn and play John's closing hits set as well) And Elton taking it home with a string of his time tested hits that never fade from memory. John and Russell clearly know who their audience is and play to their strengths as the crowd of mainly baby boomers rocked out throughout the two and a half hour show. But sprinkled heavily amoungst the crowd were a new, younger crop of fans lip syncing the words to old staples such as Your Song and Guess that's why they call it the blues. Tthat just goes to prove, good music has no age limit. All in all it was a great night, a great pairing, a reasonable ticket price and a chance to experience something to cherish for a lifetime. What could be better! Oh, and Whoopie to boot!

Fantastic concert as each performer did some of their hits during the opening and closing of one of the best live Elton concerts i have witnessed since 1970 Boston Tea Party. The 2 music legends performed all 14 tracks live. The cd is 'fantabulous'.Elton has gone full circle. He shared top billing in 1970 at the Fillmore with Elton.Now,40 years on,he has bookended his career. Shiloh,Ahab,Monkey Suit,Hands of Angels, etc. Not a weak track on the cd.Add,the 2 bonus tracks on the deluxe cd/dvd issue,16 fantastic tracks. I just ordered the double vinyl to add to my collection. The concert has to be in my top 10 concerts of all time.

The crowd loved the show. I didn't. The backup band was thrown together 3 days before the show... and it showed. Too many songs, not enough rehearsals. It was passable for a show, but not when tickets are pushing $200 a piece. Seeing Leon Russell and Elton John was great - and their performances were fine. But it's the first show in my life where I thought, "Wow, that wasn't worth that much money".

Elton as usual was fantastic. Leon Russel not so much . He sounded like Willie Nelson. Not being a country fan it was dissapointing. However I would definitly see Elton again. Best one I've seen him do when It was his " I owe taxes tour". It was just him and his piano. No back up singers , no Light show, no band. Just him !! What a show man his is.

When we first heard of this show, we wondered how these two performers would be on stage together. We had seen Elton and Billy Joel together in Tampa a few years ago and thought that was good, but we've always been big fans of both. We hadn't always been as big a fan of Leon Russell's, simply because we hadn't heard as much from him, but we are now! He and Elton were fantastic together, and thier voices and singing styles compliment each other well. Elton John went above and beyond what we expected (I have seen him maybe 6 times or so), and we are now convinced for sure that he has one of the best voices ever heard - what a gift to have! Between the two of them the concert lasted approx. 3 hours and 20 minutes - definitely the best value we've ever received for the money spent. Highly recommended!!!

The first 1/3 of the show is basically Leon Russell doing his own thing solo. Nothing wrong with the guy but I don't recall ever hearing him before and I knew nothing he played. The next 1/3 of the show is Elton John and Leon Russell playing music from a new album they are releasing - neat idea, but again, I didn't know any of the songs and the show didn't mix well between the two musicians. The graphics on stage during this phase of the concert were amateurish and looked like juvenile light bright versions of roses and the like. By the time the last 1/3 of the concert rolls around, it is now after 10 pm and I hadn't heard but one song I knew. This is when Elton John came on solo and played the music I had come to hear. It was good and Elton was a great performer but he played mostly his ballads - Rocketman, Daniel, etc. and sat at his piano and waved at everyone whereas in other concerts I saw him in in the past he danced around, rallied the crowd and played fun songs I grew up dancing to. The theater itself was disappointing too. I paid bucko bucks for floor seats. The stage was quite low to the floor and there was no incline at all to the stage or floor. Though I bought my tickets immediately, I was 3/4 of the way back on the floor. I am just shy of 5 foot tall so when I sat down all I could see was one line of lights suspended from the ceiling above the stage (there were three sets of lights) and the two female dancers who were on the right most edge of the stage. I ended up standing on a wobby folding chair for a while and then finally sneaking into a cheaper seat on the side of the concert where my friend and I could at least see that there were pianos on the stage. Even then, everyone had to turn 90 degrees to their right to see the stage or anything and many people in my area left the concert early b/c their necks were frozen after 2+ hours of listening to Leon Russell and had had enough.

Seeing Elton John so close was an unforgettable experience. Hearing his songs live...seeing him playing the piano, while singing...was awesome. Then he ad-libbed some songs and music. The band was phenomenal! Stage background set up was ok...a bit dark. City of Ft. Worth gets an F for the parking headache. Took me 35 min. to go .5 miles. No cops directing traffic. Complete gridlock. took me 2 hours to get to the show from Plano, and I was 30 min. late! They reserved all parking for the Margarita Ball. FAIL!

I have been going to concerts since 1974, and I thought that Paul McCartney and Bruce Springsteen where of the elite Rock Concert Monsters who know how to entertain and play for at least 3 hours(giving you the bang for the buck). Leon still sounds unique and good. Elton is amazing and the true mad-man genius of the piano. Elton and Leon shared some very personal insights into their lifes and how it influenced their music.

We really enjoyed this show. Elton John and Leon Russell are great together. Although they both performed their hit songs, this concert was so much more than a "juke box" evening. Their album, The Union, is one of the best I have heard from any artist in a very long time. There is so much talent condensed into this collaboration. Elton John said that it is difficult to listen to new music which puzzled me. It was refreshing and inspirational that these two great talents are still creating fresh music. Hopefully Elton John truly is done with pop and will make many more albums of this caliber. Leon Russell was fantastic! My only complaint was that he did not perform solo as long as we would have liked him to. It was such a treat to hear The Master of Time and Space play his own music. From the opening chords of "Tight Rope" his performance was perfect, earthy and authentic. Elton John was fun as always and it was enjoyable to listen to most of his old tunes. He is the ultimate showman and did not disappoint. Rocket Man was his finest musical moment of the evening. His piano playing was always incredible and has only improved with time! Elton John's sincerity in expressing his indebtedness to Leon Russell, his thanks to his fans, and his tribute to Ryan White and his family was very touching. I never knew that Elton John was such a humble man. His genuine connection to the audience made that forum feel like a small, intimate club. Both musicians were in top form and the two pianos together were amazing. The back up singers were fabulous, as was the band. Thanks to Elton John for so graciously acknowledging and educating his fans about Leon Russell. Rock music as we have enjoyed it from the 1960's on would not exist without Leon Russell's contribution. I hope that his public gratitude to "The Master" will inspire other stars to do the same. It is criminal that Leon Russell has not been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hopefully that will be corrected soon! I have bought the new album and hope that John/Russell will make another one. If they tour together again, I will travel to see their show! Cons: The sound was not mixed well and the pianos were drowned out by the band from time to time. Was it the acoustics of the Ocean Center? Where was the horn section? :~o That was a glaring omission and very disappointing.

It is amazing that 40 years (almost to the day) after the live album "11/17/70" was recorded, the piano-thumping sensation from that album (Elton) would be joining forces with another piano-pounding legend (Leon) from that era and treating the ears of the Daytona Beach audience to a nostalgic trip back in time, but also introducing them to a "fresh" dozen collaborative tracks just released last month. Elton walked out on stage and introduced Leon who began his set with his early 70's hit "Tightrope" and proceeded with about a half-dozen other songs and hits including the very popular and often-recorded "A Song for You." After Leon departed (slowly) from the stage, Elton began his set with a rousing "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" followed by "Philadelphia Freedom." There were a number of other songs from the "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" landmark LP including the title track, "Candle in the Wind" (dedicated to members of Ryan White's family who happened to be in the audience) and "Bennie and the Jets." After about 10 more songs, including an extended and extraordinary rendition of "Rocket Man," Elton & Leon launched into about a dozen tracks from the October-released "The Union" album. Most of these tracks were probably heard for the very first time by a majority of the audience, but I was on about the 5th listen of the CD by the day of the concert so I was well-prepared. My favorite tracks off of the new album are: "If It Wasn't for Bad," "Hey Ahab," "Gone to Shiloh" and "A Dream Come True." Leon ended the "Union" set playing solo and singing "In the Hands of Angels." This solo allowed Elton to catch a breather as he prepared for his last set of classics including "Burn Down the Mission," "Levon," "Tiny Dancer," "Take Me to the Pilot" and "The Bitch Is Back." Another memorable moment came before the "Your Song" encore when Elton proceeded to move from one end of the stage to the other signing autographs for at least 50-60 overjoyed fans lucky enough to have front-row access to this 3-hour+ extravaganza. I wasn't fortunate enough to even be in the same zip code as the stage, but I felt so privileged to have experienced this momentous "union" event and to hear such a powerful and melodious voice 40 years on...

Simply put, this concert by Elton John and Leon Russell was nothing less than astonishing. Loaded from start to finish with unstinting, high-energy generosity in terms of giving the audience non-stop, gut-wrenching, soul-bending, screaming, stomping, unbelievable, dance-in-your-seat rock, jazz, blues and country music. It was truly a 'show' in the highest sense of the word. Both Elton and Leon performed as the gentlemen and stars of music artistry we know them to be, never wavering for one second in their obvious dedication to giving a stellar and electrifying performance. And they had the good grace to thank us, the audience, for our patience as they played much of the new material from 'The Union'. Rather, it was we who should have been screaming 'thank you' to them. It was an extraordinary showcasing of remarkable, innate, born-in-the-bones lyrical talent. Thank God for both of them!

Only bad thing was the traffic getting into the parking lot. Should of been more ways to access the lot. Waited over an hour to get in the lot. Elton was great. Though the new stuff with Leon was mellow there were a couple catchy hits. The best part of the concert was the last 45 minutes when Elton signed autographs in the front row for everyone then jammed by himself for another 45 minutes. He was literally on stage for the entire three hours plus.... except for one song that Leon Russel had dedicated to him. Still there were alot of tunes he couldnt get to but that is just because he has so many wonderful songs.

I have wanted to see Elton John in person all my life since he started to tour and I finally got to go to his show. I remember Leon Russel when he was with Joe Cocker. I was a young girl and I thought Joe Cocker as weird but a great performer. I did not realize that Leon Russel was the backbone of the sound. I had a ball at the show and I did not want it to end. Over 3 hours of non stop performances was way over what I expected. I listened to the new CD on the way to the show and I was glad to know what to expect and it was even better than I imagined.

The concert featuring two of the greatest entertainers on the keyboards and rock stages over the past 40-plus years was magical. The only thing lacking was more of Leon's songs in the first set he had. I have seen Elton several times since the 1970s, including a few years ago at the Forum at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, but the acoustics of the Tarrant Country Convention Center seemed to have provided the best place to hear his music LIVE of all the other concerts. And, that includes Wimbley Stadium in England! I had the chance to catch Leon in concert the very first time, at small theater setting in South Philly in 1999. He was ALL BUSINESS as he came on stage, went straight to his piano, sat down, and, started playing without any introduction, just as he did for this show, although Elton provided an introduction for him. This concert will be a memorable one, and, I really like the new song on their album, The Union, "If it wasn't bad, it'd be good"!!! That's why it was sooooo BAD, and, when I say "BAD", I mean GOOOOOD!!!

Elton John proved he still has it last Saturday night at The Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. The current tour brings Elton together with his idol Leon Russell for a three hour spectacular of blazing Elton classics, along with many new songs recorded with Russell earlier this year. Admittedly, the classics got the bigger responses from the crowd, but with so many time tested Elton hits, that's hard to avoid. Elton greeted the packed house and introduced Russell to start the show. Russell and the excellent backing band played some of Russell's past hits to steady applause. Elton then came out and ripped into the extra-appropriate Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting. From the first line he sang, it was clear the audience would be getting Elton as his vocal best. He and his band, composed of many original members of The Elton John Band from the 70's, played five songs, including a long version of Rocket Man that really made the crowd scream, before bringing Russell back to the stage for their new material from the album "The Union", with Russell singing lead vocal on half of the eight songs they played from the album. The new songs were good, if not exactly "Tiny Dancer" quality. Leon Russell left the stage and then Elton took over, raising the level up a notch or two by playing his hits only, rocking through the number ones with powerful ease. Elton was a true gentleman, deserving of the title "Sir Elton", as he stood up and bowed after every applause, thanking the crowd each time. After some kind words of appreciation for the audience, thanking them for coming to hear Leon get his due at last, Elton signed autographs in the front row for a full five minutes before closing the show with "Your Song", Elton's breakthrough 1970 masterpiece co-written with Bernie Taupin. The performance was amazing, beyond my expectations, and my expectations are not low! Elton showed class and genuine appreciation to the fans, a concept many of today's artists just don't understand. The ticket price was reasonable, which is a must in a small market like Daytona. I feel fortunate to have seen this show in my hometown, and would highly recommend catching this tour if you can.

Elton continues to provide excellent value for money, 40 years on. In fact, I think he gives way more now to his fans than ever before. This concert was a collaboration with Elton's idol, Leon Russell, an aging influential rocker whose sting of writing hits is legendary. It was touching to see the effect Elton has had on giving new life to Leon Russell in the 'fourth age' twilight of his musical career. Yes, his voice is weak and trembly compared with Elton, but he made up for it with the collaborative new album called 'The Union'. Leon performed a set with his band, and then Elton came on and did a great set of his classic songs. Around 90 minutes in to the concert, they played through the songs from their new album. Once that was over, Elton took back the stage, strutting his stuff. Totally vintage Elton John it was. The total length of the concert was 3 hours 10 minutes, with no support band. Probably at least 35 songs on the set list. Last time I saw Elton live, it was a few years back in Birmingham, England where he gave excellent value for money with a long rocking session, ably supported by Swansea based 'The Storys'. Maybe Elton is older, but he does not show his age, unlike Rod Stewart or Paul McCartney. May he continue to rock our world for many years to come. Now he has the chance to sing at another Royal Wedding as well..... ;)

Elton John is the ultimate entertainer! He connected with the audience before the show officially began and it was just all over the top from that moment on. Three full hours of two of the best songwriters and piano players in history. Leon looked fragile at first but he can still hammer the piano. The last time Leon was on stage he seemed like it was actually fun and he played a tribute song to Elton and their producer that just brought tears. Elton came back with "Your Song" and the audience melted. It was undoubtedly the best concert I have ever been to. I would have liked to have known beforehand that cameras were allowed - people everywhere snapping photos and I didn't take my camera inside!

Elton John was phenomenal! He (and Leon Russell) rocked a full house for 3 hours with classic hits and songs from his new album/cd as well. He was so genuine when he thanked the audience and said how much he loves the United States. You could tell that he truly loves what he does and the audience he is performing for. Again, Amazing peformer and performance!

I took a friend who had never seen Elton John before, they left feeling they were lucky to see him And Leon Russel. They played their hits and most of the new album which was great, sometimes new material is tough to listen to. Not the case with these 2 legends it was great to listen to. We both felt like it was a great way to spend a saturday night to listen to such great music.

And tonight with the Elton and Leon re-UNION a packed house in PHX saw 4 concerts in 3 hours of non-stop music. First Leon Russell, Master in his space and time along with his road band, gave us a solo six-pac of his best known songs: Tightrope, Out in the Woods, Song for You, Delta Lady, Rolling in my Sweet Baby's Arms and Stranger in a Strange Land!! Hitting the high notes, pounding the Kimball keyboard, squealing at the thrill of the moment in each song or just weaving a love lyric, it was true LEON! He got me warmed up wanting more... you sassy thing. Then Elton did a solo set beginning with Saturday Night's Alright with Me and a 4 minute piano dance to get us all dancing. We followed down the Yellow Brick Road to a series of hits. His second solo at the end of the show was amazing with a 10 minute piano solo of blues, jazz, concerto, delta, gospel sounds leading to Levon. Whew! The UNION of these two artists after 40 years is respectful, delightful, and as I saw, both men had their heart filled and showed it on stage through crystal clear delivery and sound. If you don't have the UNION cd yet, it includes the dvd on making of this collaboration -- run to your store to buy the UNION! Then you will be 'in the Hands of Angels'.

First I have to say that both are legends in music, not to mention Davey Johnston, lead guitar, and Nigel Ollssen, drummer for Elton John. For their age, everyone sounded as if they were still 20 years old... lots of energy! The first time I went to see Elton John was when he released the "Yellow Brick Road" album. I would have liked to heard some more songs from that release, but his performance was spectacular. Playing Philadelphia Freedom, Your Song, Bennie and the Jets, and lots more. He performed for 3 hours and 15 minutes, which was really great!

This is now my 4th decade of enjoying the incredible music of Sir Elton John! From the first show at Dodger Stadium to the great show last Friday nite at Citizens Business Arena, I am forever a fan - make that FAN who doesn't just sit there but stands and dances to all my favorite songs. And he played most of his historically famous songs like Rocket Man, Saturday Nite's Alright for Fighting, Madman Across the Water, I could go on and on - if you were there you know he played them all!!! And for the price of my $60 seat - we were only 30 feet from the stage with Sir Elton facing us! Doesn't get any better - but it did when Leon Russell and Sir Elton started their duet song - phenomenal!!

As usual a non-stop great show!! Show started right at 8 and went on until 11:15 with NO BREAKS....Elton's voice was just so powerful and clear. I see him every time he is in the area and am never disappointed. At 63 years old, he still puts on a great show and is a real crowd pleaser!!

I've seen Elton John 39 times in concert since 1980 and I have to say I can't remember when he's been in a better mood at a show. I'd seen him and Leon Russell two nights before at The Hollywood Palladium, which was also a great show, but the Citizen's Bank Arena concert gave us an extra half hour of Elton John tunes. The concert ran for 3 hours and 15 minutes. Elton was happy to play with (and make an album with) his idol Leon Russell, who started out the concert singing some of his best-known songs. Leon left and Elton came out and sang 7 EJ classics and then Leon came back and they did 12 of the 14 songs from their new album The Union. It was great to hear these new songs live. Although I was there mainly to see Elton John, I very much enjoyed Leon Russell's set with his band. He kept his set pretty upbeat. I have a lot of respect for him for taking on these concerts after having brain surgery back in January 2010. After the Union set, Elton finished up with 9 more songs, ending with, and dedicating Your Song to the fans stating that even as he gets older, he enjoys playing live more and more. As a fan, I was glad to hear this. As long as Elton comes in concert, I'll be going to see him.

To hear, and enjoy in awe, Elton John, was such a one-of-a-kind experience. That man can sing!!! He doesn't let you down when you see him live - pure entertainment, hits from oldies to new releases and extended and entertaing versions of songs too. He's just too hard to put into words! Elton is great - playing for 3 hours and talking TO the audience, signing autographs and shaking hands with the fans. The old band being there too made my night! Love that Elton's playing in smaller venues.....love hearing him and wishing I was still listening to him perform!

What an honor and a privilege to attend this concert!! Sir EJ was incredibly classy and gracious. His voice was magnificent -- and his piano playing world-class! His tribute to friend Elizabeth Taylor was emotional and touching. Every single one of the musicians was fantastic. An unexpected bonus: the fabulous Leon Russell, and the back-up singing associated with Sly and the Family Stone (an original female member and others in the family). I'd go again this evening if the concert played a second night in Pittsburgh! Not only was the audience engaged and connected...there was a positive, uplifting vibe. This is a concert that families can attend together...as well as a great date-night. The audience this man attracted was great to attend with. I was seated on the side of the stage (first tier) --looking at Sir EJ's back (a solo attendee- I had purchased my ticket late). However, because he consistently made contact with the sides and back of the stage at the end of each song-- I loved the seat.! Sir EJ was clearly attuned to individual members of the audience --and indicated that non-verbally. He is such "a pro" --and an incredibly nice human being, who bestowed genuinely warm wishes to the audience for a future filled with love, happiness, and good health. Unforgettable!! Don't miss spending time with this wonderful man --who represents the very best of humankind. Don't think twice --just get a ticket! PS. Sir EJ: if you read this --it was nice you made the effort to "jump up" on the piano...but please don't feel that is necessary. You are one of the few performers who need only "show up" to create an endearing and magical connection with your audience. It is clear why you are beloved by so many. And, congrats. on your new son!!

Very awsome show, I saw Leon Russell and Elton John in the early '70's separately, both are great. I've got to say that Elton John is still awsome and really has stamina to play (or should I say ROCK THE HOUSE) a couple of non stop hours, or more. Some new stuff, and alot of top classics. Leon ain't bad either. Great show!

Very disappointed -- show was promoted as a Greatest Hits but on the day of the concert it became a Union Tour concert with Leon Russell. We wanted to see Elton. The Civic Center was filthy and acoustics were awful. As best I can tell Elton performed for his usual length of time, but the Union and Russell were first and it made for a long concert.

This was a birthday gift to my husband who is a BIG Elton John fan but I got the present too!!! The only down side to the evening was the horrible problem with parking - we waited 45 minutes to get into the lot and almost missed the beginning of the show!!!We've seen Elton several times and he has evolved over the years. I think he's better than ever!!!! Leon Russell was a nice addition to the show - wish that there had been a little more interaction between them on stage like there was when Elton John and Billy Joel toured together. All in all, a fantastic night with two legends!!!!

Seeing Leon and Elon performing with such energy and ability for well over three hours was inspiring. They are better than they have ever been, and putting two such talented artists together is almost unheard of. But the sound did not do justice to the music. maybe I'm too old, but it was a little loud, and was very poorly reproduced. I don't mean it should have been a symphony, loud music can energize the entire audience. But pianos have rich undertones and they were reduced to a sound like banging on steel bars. The lyrics are sensitive and complex, and only a handful could even be understood. Particularly with the new songs, that simply abandons much of their value. This was a great concert, but it would have been so much better with a better sound system and, yes, a little less blasting of noise, it would have rated 5 stars. Except on the final riffs, those can be as loud as you want.

We had a great time. Leon sounds like Willie Nelson, we were pleasantly surprised by his music. Elton still has all the energy of a teenager, and kept the whole audience on their feet. There was a little quiet time in the middle of the show when they introduced some of the new songs, but when the oldies returned there was not a person there who wasn't tapping a toe, dancing in their chairs or just screaming the words along with him.

I was expecting more songs from Elton John! First all of the Leon Russell songs sounded like the same song that never ends! Then Elton John sang 3-4 songs. Then they did like 7-8 of their new songs together which were unpopular and I have never heard them :( Then again Leon Russel singing and then at the end Elton John sang 5-6 more songs... I love Elton but I was dissapointed that he only sang few of his greatest hits... I waited to see him life for so long and at the end I was dissapointed :(

WOW!!!!!!!! Talk about dancing in the aisles and in front of your seats. No one sat down for at least half of the three and a half hour performance. You just can't sit still when Sir Elton John plays high energy music. Your body just moves all by itself. You have to concentrate really hard to keep it still. And when you stop trying, the music sweeps you away again. It was WONDERFUL to see and hear him again. Last time I saw him in person was in Tallahassee thirty years ago, and he didn't take any breaks then either. Saturday's performance was AWESOME! He left stage for only about five minutes while Leon Russell played his tribute to Elton. The duo had sparks flying. Can't wait to get their new album! Elton's voice has matured into a very sexy one, even better than when I saw him thirty years ago. He just keeps getting better with age. And the last time I saw Leon was when he played at Florida State's homecoming in the 60's. He was awesome then too. The light show was spectacular. A lovely tribute to Marilyn Monroe. Many of my absolute favorites from my best years were performed better than I had remembered them. The concert encompassed many genres and styles. The man is fluent in every musical style that I consider to be music. It was wonderful to see two old friends again. Outstanding musical group with two full percussion sections, just about every type of electric guitar there is, outstanding vocalists, both male and female, and two grand pianos -- all of them being played at the same time. I haven't felt so much energy in a very very long time. It reinvigorated my zeal for life and rekindled my love for music. There were touching moments in which Elton revealed his human side and shared personal insights with us. I appreciate that. If you'd bring him back every month, I'd go see him every month. We need more of his performances in this town. Thank you.

It is difficult to replicate Elton on a recording. His fingers on the Steinway keys have a special sound. I love when he plays his free-spirited, honky-tonk piano solos. The set list included Leon Russel songs, Elton pop songs, "The Union" (10 or so songs), and then, Elton early classics. Even our friends who aren't as big of fans as I am were still talking about it two days later. And...they played their hearts out for three hours!!!

I have never been to a concert that offered so much. Leon Russell was phenomonal - doing his old stuff and then joining Elton John to do the set with the new tunes from "The Union" CD. Elton John preformed for almost 3 hours and was as good as everyone said he was. I enjoyed the performance more than any other I have been to. My only complaint is about the Ocean Center. It is a horrible place for concerts. The sound system is horrible. There are obviously no sound engineers in Daytona Beach available for hire, or the Ocean Center would have certainly done something about this since it has been going on forever. I have been to three concerts at the Ocean Center. The first concert performed there was Amy Grant, and complaints were made about the sound system then. I went to see Trisha Yearwood many years later and it was a great concert, but once again..horrible sound system. This concert was the last I will attend at the Ocean Center due to the poor system. Leon Russell could not be heard or understood half of the time because the balance was so poor between his "background" music and the microphones and forget about hearing his awesome piano playing. I heard feedback, reverb that wasn't supposed to be there and what sounded like blown speakers Saturday Night. So, in my opinion, the Ocean Center wasted a lot of money expanding and remodeling when a decent sound setup could have done so much more for this venue.
