Hootie and the Blowfish

The Hootie and the Blowfish concert is the perfect way to end any summer. I was lucky to see the band way back before they became famous and they are still great and put on a rocking show. The Volvo Stadium is a great place to see a live show and you can't beat an evening on the South Carolina coast in Charleston. I am also glad I got to see their opening band, Stop Light Observations. They rocked the house.

5th Homegrown and it just gets better each and every year. This is a family event each year and it is so much fun. The music is great, the venue is perfect and many memories to add to my scrapbook.

Hootie and the Blowfish concert was wonderful. Took my 9 year old daughter and her BFF. They had the time of their life and I had a great time as well. They really know how to get the crowd going.

There seemed to be something wrong with the sound system. Darius was difficult to understand when he was talking to the crowd. During songs, you could hear the mumble of the crowd over Hootie and the Blowfish. I couldn't determine whether the voume wasn't turned up loud enough or whether there was actually something wrong. Playing outside needs a little more volume since there isn't anything for the noice to bounce off of. This made it difficult to get into the concert since the volume wasn't there to get everyone stoked.

It was a great show and the band really looked like they were having fun. Great crowd and the set looked awesome.

They always deliver! Darius and the band sound great live! Best concert I have ever been to.

We attend this event annually. Hootie and the Blowfish always bring their A game. However, i was so disappointed in Friday's opening act, Cowboy mouth. Worst opening act in all the concerts we have attended.

Hootie and the Blowfish never disappoints. Charlestonians have to wait to see them on an annual basis at their Homegrown concerts, and they leave everything on the stage. Every year they leave me excited and hopeful about the next.

I have been to well over 100 Hootie shows over the last 20 years. In the last decade or more they have tried to stick to the set list but tonight, for the first time in a LONG time, it was like the good ole' days. They threw in extra songs mid-show and extended the encore because they wanted to keep playing. The show was just under two and a half hours. They still look and sound as good as ever. I travel from California for their SC shows each year since they haven't toured in awhile. Shows like this one keep me coming back.

Hootie is still INCREDIBLE! It was cool seeing Sister Hazel, although they played new music which noone really knew.

Honestly, I have had the most fun that I've had at a concert when I see these guys and Darius. On my feet the whole time and they perform great live. Some performers don't sound as good live but that's not the case here. If you ever have the chance to see them do so. You will not regret it.

Always an awesome show. Plays all your favorites and excellent covers of their favorite bands.

As always, Hootie and the Blowfish delivered an amazing show--and it was a benefit to a great cause. We love seeing them reunite every year. And to top it off, the weather was perfect!

They don't play many shows these days so we travel to SC every year. HOOTIE ROCKS. Great mix of originals and covers and Darius is one of the all time great vocalists. If you want to hear some of the old Hootie songs that Darius doesn't do solo, catching one of the few gigs needs to be your next move. Thanks Darius, Mark, Dean, Jim for one incredible show after enough. 2 hours+ of pure energy and a fabulous tight band.

Fantastic Venue! (when it's not too hot or raining)...Darrius still has his voice...have to say it was one of the best shows I've been to in awhile. Wasn't expecting anything from Sister Hazel- they were great also!

This was our third year attending this show; had a great time as usual. For a band that only plays a few shows each year, they sounded great and you could tell they really enjoyed performing.

I have been attended this annual event 6x and consecutively 4x. This concert has unforgettable songs. The band is great with the audience. The concert is part of a community event to help Charleston county schools before the start of the school year. My wife and I cannot wait to go next year.

My first Hootie show and I've been a fan since the first album release! Was saying a prayer they performed a few songs off that album and they performed all the songs off the album but maybe 2! Just fantastic all the way around!!

The show was Awesome and contributes to a Great Cause! Being from SC & Loving This Band from their Beginning; This was a Dream Come True for Me!! First Concert but Definitely not my Last!!!

Hootie Homegrown is one of my favorite weekends of the year, every year. Hootie & the Blowfish always put on a great show.. and this year was no different. They played for two hours, playing all of their hits and a bunch of great covers.

This was our 2nd year going to #homegrown and it keeps getting better! Looking forward to next year!

My wife and I go to Homegrown every year and as always this year rocked! If you get a chance go to this show! They have done it every year for the last 11 and the Blowfish never disappoint!

This was my first ever hootie and the blowfish concert and let me tell you, it was amazing! I am part of the younger generation who are huge fans of hootie and will continue to always like their music. I have a hootie station on pandora that I listen to all the time during the day. I was so excited once I got to the venue and being that it was in charleston made it more awesome. I wish I could see them every year but I came down from CT and wasn't gonna pass up this opportunity to see hootie and the blowfish. Thanks guys for a wonderful and most awesome time. I can't wait for the next one.

Seen them on Daniel's Island in Charleston, opening act Foster and Loyd were good, then came the Storm and we spent an hour seeking shelter until Hootie could play. When they did play it was great ! I would have enjoyed it more if they didn't have the alcohol. By the time they played most folks were drunk and feeling fiesty.

Great show! Took my 8 year old daughter to this show for her first concert and had a great time! Would love to see Emily Hearn next year!

This is probably my 10th time seeing Hootie and the Blowfish, not including my college years, and they have once again put on a great show.

My review from 2009 should have ended "the best is yet to come" because on Wednesday night Hootie and the Blowfish, along with their local opening group, Crowfield, would've blown the roof off of the Family Circle Magazine Stadium if there had been one! From the beginning of their set, Crowfield began an upward spiraling of song and sound that almost equalled the energy and commitment supplied by lead singer Tyler Mechem! Although his vocals were much more distinct indoors at the Performing Arts Center last year, this was still a performance worthy of lead billing......that is until Hootie took stage. This was the 10th show by "the fish" that this writer has been priveledged to see and none have been better. Darius seemed younger, stronger, and in better voice than he has been in years and nobody brings more energy to a show than Mark Bryan (other than perhaps Crowfield's Tyler Mechem or Chris McKay of Chris McKay and the Critical Darlings). Hootie's mission to help the Lowcountry's school children once again spurred the fans to give (pun intended Tigerland) and provided Darius a public forum to recognize the 2010 NCAA Baseball championship brought home by the Gamecocks, as well as their 2 game sweep of Clemson on route to the title!!

Another incredible Homegrown show! This is one of our favorite events!

We look so forward to this event year. We have been fortunate to get tickets the past two years on the floor of the stadium. Hootie and the Blowfish puts on an awesome show with their mix of their songs and various covers. It's take us back to the college days when you could see them for $5 cover charge in Columbia.

Show was, of course, fantastic! Venue easy to get to with inexpensive "premium" parking literally right at the gate. Band was phenomenal. All the nostalgic tunes and new ones too. Connection with the fans was tangible and meaningful.

Another amazing year in the books! Waffle House set the stage for 2 amazing evenings!

How these guys stay so tight playing together a few times a year I have no idea. Their harmonies were dead on, and they sounded ready to go on tour

The concert was awesome as usual. The heat is the only issue that kept it from being perfect! Charleston outside in August is miserable! I try to attend every year if I can but they sell out in 10 minutes!!!

Hootie and the Blowfish were excellent and sang ALL the songs you know and love, even " Mustang Sally". They returned to the stage 2 times because the audience just didn't want to let them go. It was 4 hours of entertainment although all of it wasn't all that good. The good news is that Hootie and the Blowfish rocked and were on stage for about two and a half hours, woohoo!!!!!

Another wonderful annual performance! What my wife and I really look forward to is the stage set up. Every year they come up with something new. This year's show was the best! The backdrop and lighting was over the top. The performance was equally brilliant.

My husband and I are HUGE fans of Hootie and the Blowfish as well as Darius as a solo artist. We have seen the band and Darius before and have no complaints regarding our previous experiences. With that said we were so disappointed in the language Darius chose to use during this concert. We brought our children to the concert and since we have experiened their concerts in the past and the fact it was a benefit concert for Charleston schools we thought it would be a great concert to attend together as a family. Unfortunately and sadly the use of the "F" word put a damper on the evening.

I have been dying to see Hootie since I was a little girl and it has been on my bucket list. They put on an AMAZING show! I'm so glad the rain held out and they sang tons of songs from Cracked Rear View as well as some newer ones. Well worth the money and 4 hour drive!

I had floor seats and it was great. The Song list was great even though they didn't play one of my all time favorite songs (Tuckers Town). It was my second time there and I thought it was wonderful. I really liked the first "encore" when Edwin Mccain came out and sang Solitude with Darius Rucker.

Rocking for a good cause, Hootie and the Blowfish joined fans for another night on Daniels Island,SC gathering even more school supplies for schools in South Carolina . Playing well known hits, with Darius and Sonny each playing some solo songs, it was another night to enjoy and celebrate all that is Hootie and the Blowfish. And I couldn't thank them enough. Keep calm and Hootie on!!!

Great yearly event, will definitely be attending again next year. New annual tradition for my group of friends. Darius and the blowfish sound even better live and put on a great show for a sold out crowd.

Awesome time with great music, weather was challenging at first but the performances more than made up for. Ticket pickup was quick and easy. Great venue great music!

It poured for the opening two acts. Just prior to Hootie taking the stage the rain had stopped and the evening was fantastic! Darius was on his mark! This is the third year we have attended this annual show. A very intimate venue and a great place to see a concert!

Unbelievable show! Played every song possible plus the best covers from years past. I cannot wait to return next year....just like the good old days! They don't disappoint!

I have been following the band since they began at The Windjammer on IOP,S.C. some 20+ years ago. Always an AMAZING show filled with energy. Mark Bryan must have a trampoline to practice all his jumping.!!! Recently saw Darius Rucker's True Believers concert here in Charleston S.C... His voice is beyond compare. My daughter is a student at USC and she has seen Darius at the school performing. Their music is timeless and covers across generations. Excellent show!!

Great concert, great venue... It was small enough to have a great seat wherever you are located in the stadium!! It was so amazing.... I do wish that there were more items available to buy. Definitely go on the 1st night if you want to buy something. Drinks for the prices were GREAT!!! All the vendor options were fabulous as well... Did not expect that coming from Florida.

Opening acts were great, the light rain before Hootie and the Blowfish hit the stage did not dampen the spirits. The Show was awesome!!!! First time at this venue and at Homegrown. Plan on going back next year !!!!!

I've been to many, many Hootie and the Blowfish concerts over the past 23 years and this one was great! They played most of my favorite Hootie songs and my favorite covers as well. It's been a long time since I heard them play, "Mustang Sally" and it was as great as I remember. I love when they pull in their buddies, such as Edwin McCain to sing with the band. It allows the audience to feel a part of their "inner circle" of friends. The only thing that is disappointing is that they play only a few times a year. See ya next year Darius, Mark, Dean, and Soni!

This was my first Hootie and the blowfish concert, and I was absolutely blown away. They played all of my favorite Hootie songs and a bunch of great covers too. Even with the awful weather they still performed rain or shine just as promised and it was incredible. I think I started jamming on the first song, and didn't stop until I was in the cab home.

Played for 2 1/2 hours. Everything you wanted to hear. Edwin and Darius singing solitude was unreal. Should make live cd of show and contribute $$$ to school kids. Great what they do for the community. Looking forward to next year!

Hootie with Edwin McCain was Amazing I would go every year. Loved it.

The best concert ever and Hootie gave it his all! The whole band was alive and rockin' which was started by Edwin McCain and continues when they all joined together on stage!! The weather cleared in time for us all to enjoy a great night !!

The show was great! The music was super - really enjoyed the other `80`s songs by others they did as well. Fortunately the rain stopped for them. Missed Drivin`N`Cryin` due to the rain and getting stuck in downtown Charleston. Edwin McCain was very good also. Saw Hootie last year and think show was even better! As a USC grad, really love the barbs Darius throws at Clemson, The only thing I wish was different was that Darius had a potty mouth this year - several uncessary F-bombs. Don`t recall that from last year`s show. Especially with a lot of kids in the audience, it is just so unnecessary and he can do better. That is my only complaint of an otherwise great show.

Loved the concert! Hottie and the blowfish was awesome! My boyfriend and I went and we really enjoyed the performance.

Sadly, it started pouring the rain the minute we sat down. After 5 minutes of the opening act, I was soaked clear through to the bone and my makeup was in my eyes so that not only could I not see, but my eyes were burning. Not seeing any signage saying you couldn't leave the event and come back in, I walked home and changed into dry clothes and washed my face. I was shocked when I got back that they wouldn't let me back in. Said it was policy and nothing they could do anything about. I'm a 55-year-old woman who lives less than a mile from the stadium. It was obvious I hadn't been drinking, so not sure what the harm would've been in letting me back in since I had my ticket with me. So . . . I paid $50+ for a concert I never even got to see while the rest of my family sat inside feeling bad I wasn't with them:(

Excellent event and venue, would have liked some sort of heads up on last call but that's my only complaint.
