This man doesn't miss a beat! He never talks much, which reminds me of my daddy in many ways. I will try to see Don Williams everytime he's here in Huntsville or close to where I am! A true, genuine country boy! A Legend!

First let me preface this review by stating that I have been a fan of Don Williams since the 70's...I had seen him in concert once before some 14 years ago. It was a great show but I was concerned his recent health issues had damaged that amazing voice. When he took the stage after an unbilled opening act named Colm Kirwan. A delightful Irish lad who sang a 30 minute acoustic set of mostly original songs. Don slowly ambled to the stage, said a brief good evening...then launched into a 1 hour + greatest hits performance that had the crowd singing along with every one. It was a great evening and I hope I have a chance to see him again.

Show was great. I am glad I was able to see him perform live. He is also kind of a comedian between songs. I would see him again.
Don Williams sat in his chair on stage at the Ryman and admitted to being sick. He would do his best he said. His best was pretty awesome. He was humbled at our continued standing tribute to him and shook his head when mentioning his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame this Sunday, October 24, 2010. He sang the classics that we all love. I cried when he came on stage. He is, in my eyes, one of the legends of country music. My only complaint is that the music didn't continue all night...he has the "listen to voice" of my generation of country music.

I confess to not being a big fan of country music, but I really enjoy select artists. Allison Krauss, recent Alan Jackson, a song here or there, and always Don Williams. I recall my father listening to DW, and playing his own guitar, singing Don Williams songs. Because of that, his music is extra special to me. Heading into the concert I had high expectations of seeing him perform. He simply exceeded them. He gave a solid 2 hour performance and if I could, I'd thank him for such a special night. I told dad afterwards that when I bring his grandson to visit for Thanksgiving, I expect him to perform every bit as well. :)

Even with an admitted sinus issue Don still delivered a most enjoyable greatest hits list. The decidedly older crowd was one of the most excited and enthusiastic of which I've ever been a part. Fun banter from Don all night - great show! BTW, we enjoyed Troy Olsen as well, even though we'd never heard his music before.

I recently attended his concert in Salina, KS and will forever be thankful that I was able to see him in concert. He's the REAL DEAL! He was everything I could have ever hoped for. He sounded GREAT,... so much that you couldn't tell the difference between the live version and his CD's. Simply AMAZING!! I will make a point to see him in concert again. My husband and I sat on the mezzinine level, the seats were very good!! In fact the show was terrific. My husband didn't have as good as time as I, there was a lady on his left, sang along with Don Williams on every song!! He wanted to tell her we paid to hear Don Williams and not her. Too bad there isn't a section for the sing alongs and one for us old grumps who would just like to hear the artist.

I saw Don Williams 20 years ago in Topeka and was enthralled. In Salina his beard was nearly all gray, he looked a little unsteady on his feet, but when he sat in that old chair (essentially the same as the one in Topeka) and sang mostly the same program, he sounded the same. Wonderful! I enjoyed singing "Your My Best Friend" again. Good for you Stiefel Theatre, good for you.

I was impressed with the opening act although an Irish country singer is a little different. However Don Williams gave an excellent show, his voice is as strong as ever and his sound man was far better than several we have had at previous Ameristar shows. Now if CSI will just learn to stop letting people in after the concert has started it will be even better.

Well into his 70s, Don Williams still has a voice as smooth as silk! One member of his band had to get him started on a few songs, but as previously mentioned he is well into his 70s and I am just very grateful I was able to see him. As a venue, the Ameristar was great. Location was easy to find, it was clean and employees were helpful. Our tickets were in the right risers, about halfway up, and I thought they were great seats!

Don Williams continues to be a stalwart entertainers. At 78 years old he is beginning to look frail but his baritone voice remains strong and clear. He is famous for delivering his classic country favorites without any theatrics, jus a chair, guitar, microphone and capable backup band. The man of few words has little to say between songs other than occasional "mercy" or "you people are fantastic." This concert at the intimate Ameristar Kansas City Pavillion was good with the exception of an intoxicated 50plus woman on the front row who thought the audience was there to see and hear her. The constant selfies with Don in the background and loud sing-a-longs despite the lack of talent was disrupting to the rest of the audience there to see and hear Williams.

Last week we saw Don Willaims in Branson @ the Oak Ridge Boys Theater and were we ever disappointed. The man should not be on stage and looks and sounds VERY ill. We have lovesd his music for years and years but this was as poor of a display as we have ever seen. The band had to cover for him in a big way but even that was easy to see through. The place was packed so I guess he got his money we just didn't get our moneys worth. Had we had any idea that it was going to be this bad we would have gone across town to see Moe Bandy. We were afraaid Don was going to fall off of his stool but if I had to bet the money would be is that he was strapped to the stool, couldn't even remember to appear that he was useing his left hand when playing the guitar about 30% of the time. Tried to get our money back and that is definately not happening.. If you want to see him make sure that he is well enough to perform

Attending The "Gentle Giant" Don Williams concert at the Carolina Theater is easily one of the top five events in my life. When the curtain rose to reveal the band members and the super talented Don Williams seated in the center, there was electricity in the air. The multi colored background stage added to the WOW factor...and Don Williams delivered a splendid performance. He sang all of my favorite Don Williams songs, making a memorable event that I will never forget.

I've seen him multiple times, and he never disappoints. He just sits there playing and singing. I do wish the light show would have been a little more calm this go around. But, that's just a preference that has nothing to do with him. Colm Kirwan, I've seen him a few times as well. I love him. I love that he stays to greet every single person. This review is giving an option for a video submission of the concert, but security was hot and heavy about not videoing.

We've seen him 4 other times, but this concert paled compared to his others. Seemed like he was just "going through the motions." He was on stage for exactly one hour (8:25 - 9:25 PM), sang about 19 songs, 4 or 5 of which we never heard of, never came out for an encore which really disappointed the crowd, who hung around a good 5 minutes waiting for it (the encore, usually "Louisiana Sat. Night"). No complaints about his voice and band, however, smooth as silk! I'd be interested to see what others thought.

Don Williams Voice was as strong and smooth as it has always been; however the show was not worth the money spent. The opening act lasted way too long, and his music was not my cup of tea. He was more interested in letting the audience know that he had CD's for sale in the lobby and that he had been in Huntsville before, rather than singing. A couple of songs from this guy would have been MORE than enough! I have been a Don Williams fan since 1973 and have seen him perform countless times in the past; as much as I love the singer he is past his time to be touring. I did not time the show, but I do not thing he sang for even an hour. The curtain opened and he was seated on a stool that he appeared to be tethered to. He sang and made very few comments to the crowd, sang a few songs and the curtain closed. He sang the worst rendition of Amanda that I have ever heard. I should have stayed home and listened to my CD's.

This was our first visit to The Peabody and we were not disappointed. It is an older venue with lots of character. The setting was much more intimate than some of the larger places we've been for concerts, which is a huge plus for us. And the acoustics were quite good. Now, onto why we went to Daytona. Don Williams! This man can sing and he gave an outstanding performance. I think the audience was almost as impressed with his speaking voice which in itself is like music to your ears. I say almost, because there is nothing like hearing Don Williams sing the much loved classics that he is so well loved for (I Believe In You, Some Broken Hearts Never Mend , It Must Be Love, Tulsa Time, Love Me Tonight, Say It Again, etc.) live and in person. The man is true Country Music at it's best and he did not disappoint. Wonderful, moving performance!

This is the third time I have had the honor to see Don Williams in concert. I have never been disappointed in his performance. That deep "right on the money" voice continues to amaze and entertain. Even his reation to those who probably should have waited in the truck is incredible and light hearted. I took my best friend, my wife, and her cousin. I think we all had tears in our eyes and least at one point. "Gold ole boys like me" continues to touch the soul and says so much about many of our lives. I wish I could remember her name, but the female member of the band can play and sing like an angle from heaven. I am so honored to have been in their presence during this tour. Thanks Don Williams for giving so much of yourself to so many of us.

Very good show! Love his voice and had all very talented musicians with him. Sound was perfect in the IP, soft, smooth and easy to listen to. My only gripe was the loud old people that kept hollaring out in the crowd to Don like it was the old bar room honky tonky days. Some people have no class and can't take them out of their home. The Gentle Giant still has the magic touch. It was a privilege to be a part of this event. The show was a little short 1hr 20mins, but he played a lot of songs. I could listen all night.

Don Williams is a great entertainer. His humility and appreciation for the audience was sincere and shows in ever song he performs. His voice is aging well and he is a perfectionist on his delivery of a good concert to his fans. I would definitely like to see him again.

Don Williams' songs have been a part of our lives forever and to see him sing these songs in person was an evening I'll never forget. His beautiful smooth voice has lasted through the years even with the difficulty of having to cancel a few shows due to bronchitis last week. Don's songs touch our hearts and we remember our younger days, too. Now to experience this moment in time - the generousity of him and his band of musicians traveling to sing for us again - was perfect. It was my first time to see him after playing his songs at home for forty years! . Don's easy manner with the audience and him sipping on his black coffee gave me the impression of being in his living room for a comfortable evening of his wonderful music. Thank you, Don. Those songs will live on long after you and I are gone.

Wow - so personal. It was like being invited into his parlor with a group of old friends to sing a few songs and enjoy each others company. He was so terrific. His voice is a good as ever. I'd happily go see him again

Don Williams is one of those entertainers that you may not realize how many monster hits he has had, until you sit there a couple of hours and hear him sing all those hits He is well known for being pretty laid back in his shows - sitting on a stool and rarely venturing off it for most of the show, playing the same guitar throughout. (which means no distracting stagehands coming out to switch out guitars or move his mic stand, etc). But he is truly entertaining, despite the lack of kinetic energy onstage. I have seen him before, and this show was actually more lively than the last one. The audience was really into it and people were calling out comments and song requests and Don was interacting with them during the show.

Don Williams has always been one of my favorite singers so when I heard he was in El Paso while I was visiting family, I took the family with me. First time at the Plaza Theater in El Paso. What a treat. Small venue with great accoustics. Not a bad seat in the house. And on top of that Don singing!!! Awesome

Don Williams sang mostly his old favorites, and that amazing voice was almost as good as ever, but for a few places where he struggled with the high notes. He also seemed to play the guitar only sometimes. But his band is so outstanding that the only thing one noticed about his not playing was the visual; the sound was marvelous. He's 75 and looks it; I wonder how long he can go on. Despite that, he gave us a generous set and an encore; he seemed to be enjoying himself and the crowd loved it.

OMG...what a great concert! Don Williams is a bit weathered in his appearance; however, the gentle giant still is able to share his music magic. Same deep voice, familiar romantic lyrics that one can sing along with, and peaceful melodic tunes. It was a wonderful evening. El Paso paid a great tribute to a country singer legend. Hope I can find a CD; sold out at the concert, and my turn table is buried in a box somewhere in the garage.

A great evening of Don Williams' many hits that brought back so many memories. These were the songs that played in the background of important and ordinary moments of our lives, and to hear them again, in that still honeyed-bass voice, was extraordinary. The musicians who accompanied Don are top-notch, and a pleasure to hear. The sound mix was amazing. Even in the high-volume songs, it was possible to pick out each instrument, with none dominating, except where it was supposed to. The opening singer-songwriter Colm KIrwan provided exactly the right kind of introduction, and his heart-felt lyrics and inter-song comments clearly struck resonant chords in the audience. If you have a chance to attend this concert, don't pass it up!

AMAZING!!! I don't know why a man with his playlist would still want to be touring at almost 76 years young............but luckily for all of us...he is. His back-up band is EXCELLENT, and he does lean on them a bit at times. But, you can still hear echoes of the strong baritone voice we have all come to know and love. He has new CD's.....can you believe it? He is an amazing gentleman.....something that is hard to find now-a-days!!! He is still the "Gentle Giant" Will ALWAYS LOVE him!!

Although he may be a bit older, his voice is still excellent. This show was fantastic. No frills, no bells and whistles, just good old fashioned singing. His songs are timeless. I was so happy to finally get to see him in concert.

The show was fair. I hoped the show would have been better. If he was not sick I think it would have been. I think the hotel should told us he was sick. Let us decide if we still wanted to go to the show.

I must admit to being a Don Williams fan since the mid 60s. I have nearly all his record albums. It was such a pleasure watching him sing songs that been part of my life all these years. With all the standing ovations he received during his performance, many others love his work as much as I do. Songs like "My best Friend" and "Amanda" as well as "Imagine That" brought tears to my eyes. The "Gentle Giant" is legend and I was blessed to see him one more time.

Not impressed with opening act, not country enough. Really enjoyed last half hour. Getting out of parking was a nightmare. Numerous people used cell phone/ camera. Very annoying, especially from the balcony where you could see each and every one. Ushers made attempts to stop but when he walked away they were out again. An announcement from the stage might have helped. Music was often louder than the words although the overall sound system of the theater is excellent. Non electric instruments might have been nice.

I listen to Don Williams all the time and I am only 32, He is so smooth and true to his style through the years, never changing with the modern music, That is what makes him even more incredible. Don Williams doesn't speak much because he does need to.

This is the second concert that we've attended with Don Williams. He was so great! He played all of the songs that we wanted to hear. He lives up to his nickname of "Gentle Giant!" He acknowledged most of the fans that called out questions or comments. Additionally, his opening act was a great singer/songwriter from Ireland. I missed his name, but he was a great opening act. I would love to see him again also.
