Descendents

Back in Australia for the first time since 2012, punk rock pioneers, DESCENDENTS return in February 2017 in support of their new album, Hypercaffium Spazzinate. To say that the DESCENDENTS invented pop punk is a gross understatement. They perfected the warp-speed amalgam of adolescent angst, snotty attitude and championship melody infesting the airways today. “You can draw a straight line from their records to modern punk acts” proclaim Nerdist.

For a band that only comes around once a decade, they sure know what they're doing. I think it's impossible for them to disappoint. They played songs from all across the 25+ years they've been making excellent music, and most of all they had as much fun as the crowd. What more can I say? ALL!

They drew me in and kept the pace and energy up the whole show, I wish it would have been longer, but I always think that at every show I go to. I think they played all my favs except maybe one.

Awesome day overall. The bands I went to see killed it and I was introduced to so many more that I loved!!!! The only bad things were that the food prices were OUTRAGEOUS and there was no re-entry. But that didn't interfere really with how awesome the show was!

Great Fest! Not too big, not too small. Two stages was perfect and the timing of when each band was good also. The usual high priced food, parking, etc.., but that's to be expected. I really, really hope they have it again next year and keep it at the festival pier. Warped Tour is usual hot as hell with 1 good punk band for every 10 shitty flavor of the month band now so we really need a good punk festival in the Philly area. Only thing that would have made it better is if Danzig Legacy would have played and I would have gotten to see him do a Misfits set. Descendents, 7 Seconds, Suicide Machines, and what I caught of X was well worth the price of admission.

Great set by Descendents. Tons of energy, many old classics & even the sound wasn't awful (at least in the middle of the room) at the often spotty sounding Roseland Ballroom. I never could've imagined this band selling out a 3500 capacity venue 25 years ago, but good on them. Also, great to see Bill Stevenson looking to be in very good form. He played fabulously.

The bands were the best!! To see the Descendents and Suicide Machines after they haven't been touring for years was the highlight of 2011. Then to back up these killer bands were Hot Water Music, 7 Seconds, and Weston. This was the show of a lifetime. The main bands played inside a small tent except for the Descendents, but that might have been because the weatherman was calling for a chance of rain. Besides the bands playing inside, this was a show I will brag to my friends who couldn't make it to and to tell my kids about. Thanks Redbull, Ticketmaster, and all the bands that came to the show! The only reason it wasn't 5 stars was because the chance of rain kept the main bands indoors.

It was an overcast day . Rain threatened the entire time. Luckily it didn't come. The bands were all very high energy and lots of fun. But $5.00 for a soft pretzel and $7.00 for a hot dog! Really! The indoor stage was way too much to enjoy . Sooo many people. Perhaps next year the indoors could be used as a merch tent and a second stage could be put outdoors. All in all a very long but on a scale of 1 - 10 I would give the day an 8.

Riot Fest's band lineup was incredible. Getting to see legendary bands like Descendents, Dead Milkmen along with bands everyone has been dying to see play again for a long time like Weston and Plow United was amazing! The two stage setup was great as there was always music playing. The Venue - Festival Pier at Penns Landing - not as kick ass. We got there early as we knew some of the opening acts & wanted to see them perform. Even when the event started and there were barely 75 people there total, the place was DISGUSTING! Trash everywhere, cig butts and the smell of stale beer despite heavy rain the night before.

Red Bull Riot Fest East was amazing. The stages were well set up, the times accomodated everyone's needs so it was easy to catch every band I wanted to see, and the sound was excellent! Getting to see 10+ classic punk bands all in one place in one day, for only $35 a ticket was mind blowing, and I can't wait to go again next year! Also, $5 Sailor Jerry drinks was a fantastic deal. Everyone who worked at the festival was extremely helpful and accomodatig. (All except for one female bartender in the tent - she was so rude we walked away without ordering anything, partly because we didn't want to deal with her, and also because when she informed us they had "no more" of Sailor after we saw one of the other bartenders pull 5 brand new bottles out of the box, she completely turned away from us and started asking other people what they wanted to drink. We refused to go back to the bar in the tent after that). Despite that one blip, it was, all in all, an amazing day. Lets hope Red Bull keeps this event going for years to come!

bands were fantastic, very impressed with the lineup considering i saw most of these guys for the first time over two decades ago. the venue was ... meh: food & drinks too expensive, too many people allowed in. the people were generally obnoxious and ridiculous, but i'm old and grumpy.

Overall, the show was great. It was awesome to see all of those acts in one day. However, I am an audio engineer and production manager for this type of event and it was evident immediately that the main P.A. in the tent was not large enough to cover this type of music. The outdoor stage was great, but the tent needed more speakers (preferably flown). Over all I applaud the organizers for a spectacular lineup and a great day. I hope they do it again next year.

It was a good show. Descendents do not come around too often, so it was nice to see. I took my two teenage daughters and they enjoyed it. The only bad thing is that there are no seats at the Roseland Ballroom - not the best situation for a for mom! Wish the Descendents played a little longer than an hour, but given the price of the ticket it was okay.

Stepping into Roseland was akin to stepping into a time machine. I went back to the late 90s, when I was listening to The Descendents, Suicide Machines, and H20 constantly with my best friends. All three bands put on a great show, and it was a real treat to see them all on the same stage.

I've seen FLAG, Misfits (Jerry Only), Doyle, Cerebral Ballzy and I've seen Fucked Up... but Descendents was hands down the best Punk Rock concert I've ever attended. The band sounded incredible live! The crowd was surfing and vivacious! Locking eyes with Milo Aukerman while I sang his music into his microphone was a major highlight for shows this year. Chris Shary also has been making sweet custom tees for every stop on this tour! If Descendents are playing a city near you... go! I went into this show a pretty casual fan and left in complete awe! Thank you Descendents! and major props to The Pageant for being the best venue in town!

Descendents, however, were not. This is the first time I've seen them, as it's been 16+ years since they've played in Seattle. For being the age these guys are, they played better than any 25 year olds you've ever heard. Every song was spot on. Tight, loud, fast and perfectly performed. Milo's voice shows some wear and tear as the night goes on, but it only ADDs to the charm. You can imagine what seeing them during the Milo Goes to College era was like.

Show started late due to PA being shot and needing to be replaced. Sucked because it was a stacked lineup and opening bands were cut short. Descendents were solid. Great show, great set list. Really bummed that they cut Night Birds short and Fucked Up had a great, but rushed set as well.
