Jerry Lewis

JERRY LEWIS LIVE:Jerry Lewis is a comedic living legend with a long history of entertainment under his belt -- at 87 years old, the multitalented jokester takes the stage with the same vitality and charisma he possessed when he started over seven decades ago, sporting a classic black suit and a big grin. Whether he's performing animated stand-up routines, singing his hit "It All Depends on You," or sharing fond memories of yesteryear, Lewis proves he's an all-around entertainer, making audience members feel more like old friends than spectators. It's been over 70 years since he made his debut, but Lewis' humor and wit are still sharp as ever, and he'll have fans falling out of their seats on his latest tour. BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:Jerry Lewis has always had a knack for comedy, playing pranks on his neighbors at a young age and performing mime routines at 15.

Let's start with a quick review of the Saban theater... I have been there twice and both times the seats are just terrible.. Not seat location but the quality of the actual seat..They feel as if youare sitting in a 70 year old seat that needs to be replaced.. And for the money spent..Pull the seats and upgrade this building..Beautiful old venue..FIX IT......Now Jerry Lewis.. I was a tad disappointed that there was no question and answer period during the show.. I think maybe Jerry was having a bad day and maybe just said he couldn't do it..I don't know..But for the hour and fifteen minutes that he was on stage he seemed very lively and fast witted.. It was such a treat to hear a true pro like Lewis telling stories and jokes.. I wish we could have had more time but at 88 I will be happy to say I saw Jerry Lewis Live...It was an evening I shall never forget.. This mans career spanning 65 years is amazing.. He could have added ten more minutes to the show just discussing his inventions to the film industry..Overall I give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5

I highly recommend going to see Jerry Lewis if he comes to your area. He looks amazing for 87 years old. And his wit and memory is very active. Seeing the old clips and hearing his memories was fun and brought back a lot of fond memories of when I sat as a child and watched ALL of his movies and laughed. My favorite part was the question and answer session. I was honored to be able to asked him a question. He spoke for over 2 1/2 minutes on my question and I will always treasure him talking TO ME!!!! Thank you.

If you grew up watching and loving Jerry Lewis movies as a kid, no one can ever tell you he was not the best, regardless of how times change...It was great to see him live sharing memories of his career with the audience and it was fun watching the film clips. On the other hand, the Q&A session, which could have been great, was marred by a succession of self-absorbed idiots whose only question was if they could get an autograph or otherwise climb up on the stage. In the future, these questions should be prescreened so those with thoughtful questions could be separated out from the lunkheads who want to present him with a new pair of socks! Not Jerry's fault, but there's no underestimating the immaturity of the general public in 2013. Nevertheless, if you're a Jerry Lewis fan, you'll enjoy yourself !!

Jerry is one of the last of an age of Hollywood that was great. He wanted the audience to be entertained and they were. The Q and A session could have been better if the audience that participated had done what Jerry asked of them. Memorable moments that made you laugh and even tear. At age 87, he still delivers. Great Show!

Was great seeing Jerry Lewis live. He told some jokes, showed old film clips, and took questions from the audience. The only negative was that he told many they could come back stage after the show to have items autographed that they had with them, but when the tried to go security said he left.

I expected a bit more than I saw when I went to see Jerry Lewis. For half his show he did a q & a with audience. But he was critical on some of the audience remarks. I also expected him to sing at least one song BUT he did not sing at ALL.

Jerry Lewis is still funny. Only downside is the Q&A. People ask dumb questions and too much time asking for autographs and complementing Jerry. Even though Jerry asks people not to do that. Brought back very special menmories from way back. He is an icon and you should see him while he still on tour. He's 87 now.

I saw Jerry Lewis live "in concert" is what most people who were at his performance went there to be able to say. Many others, myself not included, stayed until the end so that they could go back stage and get an autograph and maybe get to shake hands with a living legend. He told some jokes and stories. Following this were mainly vcr clips shown on a big screen that you had to look at; he would do a short intro for each clip and then the clip would be shown. The highlight of these were duo performances of "Sunny Boy" by, first, Jerry and his father, and then by Jerry with is son Gary. Following the clips was a Q & A period where people lined up in two aisles that had microphones set up. This went on for a very long time, until it became so redundant that my wife, son, and I left. Most of the speakers said basically the same things - complimenting him for his life's work and asking if they could get an autograph. It was extremely boring. When he spoke about Dean Martin, he repeated said how intelligent Dean was and how much he meant to him. When asked about what caused the break up, he answered "it's know of your goddamned business." I imagine he is tired of having to hear this question. Finally, and maybe this is just being picky, but, he told a story how at an NAACP benefit, he put his arm around Sammy Davis Jr. and said into the microphone, "I'd like to thank the NAACP for this award." Well, I knew this wasn't true; in actuality it was Dean Martin who had said this, picking Sammy Davis up at an NAACP benefit. That Jerry Lewis would "steal" this story, to me, says something about him - he's not without deficiencies, just like the rest of humanity.

I took my brother (who's 19) to see Jerry, he's one of his idols. The show was great, despite his age he still had his humor, wits and charm. Though the "live in concert" is a bit misleading because there was no band or musical performance. It was great hearing stories about Dean Martin, Sinatra and Sammy.

I was disappointed with the show. I know the man is 87 years old, but he forgot two joke punchlines, and had an hour of Q&A from the audience. I thought he would tell alot more jokes and his remembrances of his 70 years in show biz. I love Jerry Lewis, always will.

I did not enjoy Jerry Lewis. The first part was a repeat of a show that was on tv the week before that was so bad we turned it off. then he took questions from the audience where he was rude to people, especially the women where he referred to them as hoes & drunks & thought he was funny. This went on & on so we left. I'd like my money back!!

With 'concert' being in the title and with what was advertised, I must say i was very disappointed. I understand the man is a living legend and a genius, but all he did was come out, sit in a chair and talk to the audience and show film clips from the past. I understand he is older now and maybe not be able to perform like he used to, but then this event should not have been billed as a concert. The second portion of the show,( which ran exactly 2 hours) was a Q&A from the audience. I times during this portion I found him to be quit gruff and rude to some of the people, but hey, he's earned the right when people start asking the same old questions I suppose. Don't get me wrong, I love Jerry Lewis, but this show should have been billed as 'an evening with' or something along those lines...NOT a concert. He did not sing one song, and wouldn't even say 'hey lady' when asked from an audience member. Sort of annoyed I paid the price for these tickets I did for this show..

Jerry Lewis is an iconic legend but it is shameful that he still "performs." In fact, at age 87 he is not able to do anything but sit on a chair on a bare stage and show clips from from his movies and TV appearances all of which a big fan like myself has seen many times before. Then he takes Q & A's from the audience for about 45 minutes which is utterly boring and then the show ends. I didn't expect Jerry do jump around like it was 1960 but I did expect him to at least be backed up by a band and to sing a few songs. In fact, when an audience member asked him to say "LADY" he refused. I was very disappointed. It was a waste of my money. Jerry needs to retire from performing.

It is a privilege to see an icon and a creative genius. I was amazed that at 87 years old he can still put on a mesmerizing show. The question and answer session he did with the audience was genuine and heartfelt. The show lasted 2 hours. He was gracious in allowing the audience to come back stage for autographs. However, the venue would not allow it. A union man stated the rules do not allow non union people backstage.

If you admire Jerry Lewis, then you will enjoy it. It is a walk down memory lane. Jerrry shares some of his future plans. The Q and A is not to toot your horn or ask questions that place Jerry in an awkward situation.( MDA parted ways in an awful way with Jerry so just drop it already!) Give out question cards while people are being seated and select several people to come up to te microphones. This avoids repetition and make it less boing for those in the audience that heard too many autograph requests.

At 87 you obviously don't expect that Jerry Lewis will be doing his high energy slapstick. What he did do was incorporate storytelling, jokes (classic and new), with video clips. He audience Q&A was entertaining, although there did see to be more pointless comments than actual questions for Jerry. The King of Comedy lives!

I am a huge fan of Jerry Lewis. I can remember always looking forward to his next movie and always looked forward to his TV show. I never really put a diagnosis on this but he said that laughter was medicating for a lot of people and that was an important aspect of his contribution. I can totally relate to that because I was a sad little boy and I remember getting lost in his movies and how it always made me feel better. I was a class clown and looking back now I know why. I was prescribing the medicine that made me feel better. I was bullied terribly when I was kid and laughter is part of what propelled me forward in life. The show was exactly what I expected and I rate it a 10 out of 10. When I saw that he was coming to my part of the world I new I had to go. This was a gift from my wife and I am so blessed. Thanks Jerry!

It was a real disappointment. It was just about 60 minutes 45 minutes of which were clips from his telethons. One extremely long clip was him singing a song with his father and then singing the same song with his son. No questions were allowed from the audience. After seeing Whoopie Goldberg, Sophia Loren and Carol Burnett - in a similar format - their shows were all 2 plus hours, they took questions from the audience and certainly shared some really amazing stories. If you want to see Jerry Lewis buy his movies - it will be cheaper, you'll see the same clips he showed and you won't walk out of the theater felling you wasted your money.

Jerry told a few corny jokes, some were funnier than others, and he showed some very funny clips, with Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, and his Dad and his son Gary, among others. I'm sure I could have seen these same clips on youtube. I guess it's worth a few dollars to be able to say we saw him LIVE but there there was no interaction with the audience, other than when we laughed at (some of) the jokes. It would be nice if he would take questions from the audience.

If you're into old Hollywood stories & pics, if you like Jerry Lewis movies, if you want to see a true icon in the entertainment industry, then this is your show. Jerry had his stationary seat on stage and told interesting anecdotes, on a giant screen behind him showed some great clips (including of course Dean Martin, who he never referred to by name, only rather lovingly as "my partner"), and even told a few outright jokes. Saw him live at Westbury about 30 years ago. Real glad I got to see him on stage again so many years later. Just wish the show was longer than 70 minutes.

Unfortunately the show was pretty disappointing. Jerry showed YouTube clips for an hour and called it a night. I don't mind the clips, I understand he's 90, but he should have shared some stories. Telling us he was close to Sammy Davis and then simply cutting to a clip isn't much. I'd skip this one.

An Evening With Jerry Lewis, If you are/were a lifetime fan like myself there aren't many surprises here. The movie clips from Cinderfella and The Errand Boy not withstanding. Oddly there was no mention of The Nutty Professor. There was a tribute to Henny Youngman which was fun to revisit. I happened to watching the MDA Telethon when that clip aired. Again nothing new for this fan but entertaining. There were a few one line jokes sadly in large part I had heard before. I touching tribute to Sammy Davis Jr surprising I thought Rock A Bye Your Baby would be the choice. It wasn't I had reasoned I would not see anything I have not seen before. I purchased the tickets anyway. Mr Lewis at 90 my one and only time to see him live was my reasoning .

This was the first time I have had the opportunity to see Jerry Lewis live. From the moment the lights went out I was in awe of the legend seated before us, wearing a tux like any legend would. The format of the show was clips of old movies interspersed with dialogue from Jerry himself who would tell jokes, sing a song or just set up the clip. After all of his years in show business I am sure he has enough material to fill many nights on stage with audiences eating right out of the palm of his hand. I have no regrets over the ticket price (which was very reasonable) nor the three hour drive it took to see the show. It was well worth it to see a man who's career has spanned decades and who's life is forever entwined with some of the biggest names in Hollywood (and world) history. I highly recommend seeing Jerry Lewis and would love to get the chance to see him again.

The evening with Jerry Lewis was very enjoyable. I laughed until I cried, and I cried! Jerry is an amazing entertainer still at age 88. I was amazed that he is still able to do the hilarious typewriter routine! He sang and told jokes. (Why do cows wear bells? That one still makes me laugh.) I also enjoyed reliving many of his great moments in the videos that were incorporated into his act.

Jerry was just a blast to see. Even at 89 he still has you rolling. I enjoyed the trip down memory lane with him about some of his most memorable times in life. The story about the people he knew and just how much affection he had for them and the enjoyment he seemed to show.

Mr. Lewis was funny, moving, and the quintessenal storyteller he has always been on film. He is a movie genius I had to hear and see live.

Not knowing what to expect, I really enjoyed this event. Jerry Lewis is and will always be that truly "talented" person. When I told others I was attending this event, I was met with "he's still alive?". Yes - alive and breathing. It was great to see clips of those classics.

I have watched and loved Jerry Lewis since I was a kid. I've seen all his movies (some numerous times). When I found out that he was performing, I just had to be there. I flew from Oakland to LA for this once in a lifetime chance and it was worth every dollar!

At 88, Jerry Lewis in such comedy classics as The Nutty Professor is not slowing down! The venue was built in 1929 & he joked that he probably performed there during the Hoover administration, he said with a laugh. It was truly a walk down memory lane for all ages. A must go see if he is in your town!

What a wonderful time it was. Jerry still has it at 89. Once in a life time event for me and I am so happy I was able to see him in person, one of my very favorite people. As he said at the closing of the show "hope to see you all again in another 10 years", here's to hoping. Would love to see you again. Live long Jerry!

If they had told me that Jerry started at 2100, I wouldn't have wasted an hour listening to an not-ready for prime-time teen-age hopeful off-pitch singer and just waiting for Jerry.

Jerry Lewis is an icon! He is the ultimate threat...comedian, singer, dancer (somewhat) and writer, director and producer. He has done it all. But what he gave us Saturday night was priceless. It was a virtual walk down memory lane with him and the Illustrious performers who have worked with him during his exceptional career. My friends and I enjoyed the show and the fabulous clips and his stories and songs. Proving, he still has his sense of humor and his gift of gab!

forget anything negative about this man, some people don't understand the fact he is REAL with real emotions likes and dislikes just like the rest of us! He has shared his talent and humor with us most of his life and never asked anything in return but to help "others". It was an HONOR and an absolute privilege so see Mr. Lewis, I had to laugh when I read a negative review because he looked at his watch...GIVE ME A BREAK!! I look at my watch all the time and the gentleman is a lot older than most of the people that came to see him. Hecame out to see his FANS and let his FANS see him!!! He doesn't need the money, HE DID IT FOR US!!!! FOR US!!!! FOR US!!!! What elderly STAR of FILM AND TV, RECORDS, would come out to see US!!! Not many... He DID and DOES, I hope he comes back around Maryland OR New Jersey OR New York, the rest of my family wants to see him after hearing of the Wonderful time OI had!!!! THANK YOU MR. LEWIS, WE DO LOVE YOU SIR!!!

If it wasn't for who he was and wanting to see the comedy legend, I wouldn't have gone as his humor is rather mean-spirited, with the exceptions of the mime acts. Half the show was recorded events from the past that I could find on YouTube, but he's 87, so . . . how could he do a song and dance for an hour and half, though he did a pretty good "Typewriter Pantomime," the one he's famous for performing.

He started out good. Downhill from then on. Forgot the punch lines to jokes, then started the same joke over, then forgot the punch line again. Nice orchestra but it only played twice. During the open mike, Q&A session, he was rude to people. Not only didn't answer their question but ignored it totally and moved on to the next person. Could have handled the questions he didn't want to answer much more diplomatically. As for EQC, acoustics were just tolerable, lighting marginal, and they crammed us in like sardines in a tin. One of our party actually moved to the back because she was so jammed in. Rather doubtful we'll ever go there again.

I saw Jerry Lewis perform live 10 years ago and he was sensational. Now age and illness have caught up with him. He opened strong for 5 minutes or so...then went into a joke routine and went sadly down in flames, unable to remember lines he's been using for decades. The Q&A session with the audience was abyssmal - the audience should have been screened and handled by casino staff - Lewis couldn't hear most of the questions - and he grew increasingly unhappy. Most of the row in front of me left, people on both sides of me left during the Q&A. Jerry Lewis was a great entertainer - hopefully he'll retire and not tarnish his legend with any more live shows like this one.

Major disappointment. Jerry couldn't remember any of his jokes, start one forget the punch line , ask the piano player if he remembers the punch line, start another joke forget the punch line, ask the piano player if he remembers the joke, start retelling the first joke again, forget the punch line, you get the pattern. The audience q and a was a waste of time, no interesting stories, too many fawning statements about how great he was, etc. Made me wonder why he was doing it, I don;t think he needs the money but who knows. Anyway, save your money and remember Jerry for who he was.

Jerry forgot the punch line to most of his jokes. Has slight dementia. When he let the audience ask Q and A (questions)...audience asked stupid questions.....terrible terrible concert...felt sorry for him. But even though he forgot the punch line to most of his jokes he was able to make a funny retort about forgetting the punch lines. He was best in just talking about his past life experiences. Seats were VERY VERY CLOSE TOGETHER....I will try to get my money back. I would have left after 20 minutes but we were in the middle of the aisle and it would have been very awkward for us to leave.

He seemed crotchety and impatient towards the audience members who paticipated in the Q&A segment of the show, as well as the sound guy. When a proper question was asked, he ignored it half the time. An oxygen tube came out of the piano for him, and he forgot to deliver the punchline on most of the jokes he told. If he needs the money, that's sad. If he doesn't, that's pathetic. Someone should tell him to retire gracefully before he ruins his reputation.

We went because hey, it's Jerry Lewis what are the chances of seeing him live ever again ???? The show was....well....simply not worth the money. Jerry tried to tell a few jokes but never quite seem to make it to the punch line. There were a few clips shown on side screens.....you could see the same thing on Youtube. The audience question and answer time was a waste of time. "we love you Jerry" oh how insightful. Jerry is after all 87 and perhaps he should take a rest or be the subject of a nice Roast....but not as a performer on stage.

Personally I was glad to see Jerry although the overall show was a disappointment. I did not realize until after the performance what Jerry has actually been going through with all his medical issues. They have definitely taken their toll on him at this time. The forgettfulness he played up supposedly due to age, etc. got a bit too old. During the Q & A session he either didn't wish to respond, or couldn't come up with a quick quip to come back to the audience. Most of the show centered arround Jerry either telling the audience how pleased he was to have been entertaining audiences or the audience telling him how they admired him. I will say the 2 songs he sung during the show were good as was the opportunity to see the video clips he showed. May his health improve, his life be even longer, and his family be very happy.

Unfortunately, I should have stuck to my first instincts and remembered Jerry as the great he was. He is very feeble now and could barely make it onto the stage. He forgot many lines and even lyrics to some of his classic songs. I could only sit through about 15 minutes and had to leave; my husband managed about 15-20 minutes past when I left.

I haven't been this uncomfortable at a show in my life. The folks that encouraged Jerry Lewis to tour should be ashamed. Most of the jokes were forgotten and dropped, the band members were falling asleep on stage and the Q&A was painful! I'm sure a lot of hearts were broken that night.

It was great to see him. He told a few jokes but forgot all the punch lines. He talked about his career and sang two songs. But the problem I had with this is he spent more than half the evening doing question and answer with the audience. I thought he was suppose to entertain us but it ended up being a BS session in which he was rude to everyone who asked him a question. He also looked at his watch a few times probably up see when he could end this night and leave. Someone asked him what was the reason for coming out to Tacoma for the show and he said the money was right. I was very disappointed with the show and so we're other people I asked. If I knew the show was going to he like this I would not have gone.

I'm very glad I got to see Jerry Lewis in person. As a show I was not impressed, however, I hope to be doing as well at age 87 as Jerry Lewis. I was most uncomfortable during the Q & A. People were pouring their hearts out to a man they adore & respect but I felt he didn't respect them back with his comments or more lack of comment. I wish it would have been stated by Jerry Lewis or an announcer that Jerry would only like questions about his career and accomplishments as an artist, then I wouldn't have felt so bad & uncomfortable for the people asking they questions.

Better to treasure old memories of Jerry's astonishing physical comedy and rapier timing, back in the day, than be saddened by the painful sight of Jerry struggling to entertain now, in the twilight of his career. For about 90 minutes Jerry drifted from one half-told joke to another, forgetting more punch lines than he remembered, introduced a few retrospective clips, delivered a couple of semi-coherent speeches about comedy and creativity, and sang "That Old Black Magic" and "You're Nobody Til Somebody Loves You." (A terrific Vegas-style orchestra was woefully underused, sitting idle for most of the "concert." The music director, though, was a saint - gently cuing Jerry at his elbow, reminding him of lines, etc.) That was it - plus a very badly managed, but marathon, audience Q-and-A with no screening. Jerry couldn't hear some of the questions, gave brusque or dismissive answers to others, pantomimed boredom, and ended up lecturing the crowd for not coming up with better stuff. The audience, initially ecstatic to see him, grew more subdued and restless as the night dragged on. There were several walkouts around me. Jerry can still carry a tune and ad-lib with front-row audience members -- those were the best parts of the evening. But at 87 his memory and body are both failing dramatically (he can't stand for long, and seemed to be snorting oxygen while the clips rolled) and the evening was more heartbreaking than entertaining. Someone close to Jerry should tell him to stop, please. His place in show-business history is assured. No need for any more painful spectacles like this And I speak as a huge Jerry Lewis fan.

Just seeing Jerry Lewis come out on stage was truly exciting. When telling jokes and introducing film clips you know you are watching a master at work. Audience Q&A session should have been saved for film school students who would ask intelligent questions, since most of the audience members that came up were idiots bigger than any Jerry Lewis ever portrayed in his films. Those of us who waited 45 minutes at the stage door didn't rate so much as a wave from Mr. Lewis as he got into his car, but over all it was an evening worth remembering.
