I travelled all the way from Ireland to be at this concert and believe me it was worth it. It was a truly unforgettable night. To see all of Guy's "Old Friends" perform his songs was truly amazing. Artists like Emmylou Harris, Verlon Thompson, Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Ramblin' jack Elliott Bobby Bare, Ricky Skaggs, Joe Ely to name but a few. It was a night which I will remember for the rest of my life

Nashville says goodbye to one of it's most revered songwriters. Even put together by Rodney Crowell and hosted by Vince Gill was a who's who of people influenced and in most cases were friends with Guy Clark. I have seen my fair share of events and festivals, but I would say these 2.5 hours were the most amazing given my love of Guy's songs and the truly amazing lineup of performers who sang and played them.

This show was outstanding! So many great Guy Clark songs and stories, told and sung by his closest compadres. It was my first time at the Ryman and it was worth the trip.

I down from Rhode Island to see this show and it was well worth the trip. Guy Clark is one of the few older artists I've seen who's new material is as good as his older songs. The first thing I did when I got home was download his new album on iTunes. Gotta see this show if you are a fan of great songwriting and outstanding acoustic guitar work.

Going to see Guy Clark is like going to see a grand master of songwriting. An old salty dog whose memory ain't what it used to be but his voice is clear and strong and songwriting is a good as it has ever been.

There were maybe 20 singers and singer/songwriters, most or all with some connection to Guy Clark and reasons to remember him with respect and love. The acoustics are so good in the Ryman that you could hear a dime drop on the stage floor from row K. The level of musicianship is beyond what you could expect, even beyond your imagination. The audience was respectful and quiet, no phones in use, no chatting during the performances. Best audience in memory. Terrific evening in every regard - and in a holy place, the Ryman Auditorium.

This was the show of shows, honoring Guy Clark, the songwiter of songwriters, across a multitude of genres! The performers were a who's who of Americana, Country, Blues, and Bluegrass! Everytime we thought it can't get any better, it did! We reminisced, laughed, cried, and sang along! The venue is well run, staff was friendly and courteous. The Ryman is definitely on the agenda, for our next trip to Nashville!

When I found out the Guy Clark celebration was the week we would be in town I was elated. Even more so when I actually got through the website the first day they were available to the public. The entire night was magical. Each entertainer added their take and talent. Vince Gill was perfect MC and Rodney Crowell did one heck of job producing the show. My only disappointment was that we could not take any pictures at all, no program was given out to commemorate the evening and there were not enough posters for sell to those attending. What we did get were memories that could not have come any other way. Thanks to all that performed and shared their memories and talents.

An amazingly awesome venue hosting an amazingly awesome music show!! Sound was great throughout and Vince Gill was very good as emcee. I knew every song and all performances were extremely well done! My personal favorites include Verlon Thompson's version of "The Cape" and Jack Ingram's "Desperadoes Waiting for a Train." Many, many more outstanding performances--Ricky Skaggs, Robert Earl Keen, Steve Earle, Chris Stapleton and his wife, just to mention a few. We had killer seats, met some neat people and no cell phones--really cool, refreshing!!

Truly unforgettable. One of the best yet most emotional nights of my life. I will never forget it. The performers and friends of Guy Clark made you feel like you were in their inner circle. An understanding of the life and loss of Guy Clark, shared by those that loved him. From fans, strangers, family and closest friends. I was honored to be a part of this moment in time in such a historical place such as The Ryman. Every performance was spot on. Nailed it. <3

This was one of the most respectful and sincere musical performances I have ever witnessed. Every performer from veterans like Vince Gill to new celebrities like Chris Stapleton obviously recognized the importance and value of the music they were performing. I will remember this one evening for years to come.

This was the concert of a lifetime! as Vince Gill said " A three hour concert with no shitty songs". Absolutely amazing from Jerry Jeff Walker's opening with That Old Time Feeling & L.A. Freeway to the closing with everybody singing Texas Cooking and Old Friends.

Best concert ever! Stories about Guy were both heartwarming and humorous; appreciated hearing those. Vince Gill was a great host and all the music was so awesome. The surprises never stopped as legends walked out to play or sing, like Ricky Skaggs, Chris Stapleton, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou, Bobby Bare, Rodney, Steve Earle and so many others. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I just hope that this was taped!

About every artist I love and a dozen more that I like a lot played, as host Vince Gill said, 3 hours and no bad songs. The A/C dripped and formed a puddle a few seats down from us, and it was very muggy by show's end. Probably the ninety degree weather outside. The only drawback was the sound man. We were near the back (Row T) and it was way too loud and the treble was unbearably bright. I suspect Kenny, from Lyle Lovett's "Closing Time"who'd been "mixing sound all evening. Sometimes I think that boy, he ain't got no ear." But the artists were great, the memories heartfelt and funny, and all of Guy's songs were wonderful!

I have been to many shows and concerts, including Springsteen, the Eagles, James Taylor, and many more, but the tribute to Mr. Guy Clark was almost surreal, it was so good. One of the best things that happened is, everyone for the most part obeyed the request not to have their cell phones out recording or taking pictures. It let everyone just enjoy the show. Thanks to Rodney Crowell and all the performers for paying tribute to one of the best songwriters ever.

From a solo Jerry Jeff Walker to an ensemble finish, this was the most fitting tribute I can imagine for an artist who was a major creative force for so many years. The respect shown by all involved (both onstage & in the audience) was palpable. Plenty of tears & smiles. Just sublime. RIP Guy!

This show was unforgetable. One after another super talented singer songwriter performed Guy's songs. So heartfelt and emotional. I wish he could have been there, he would heve been so proud and humbled. No pictures were allowed.

One of the most memorable events I have ever attended. I met Guy only twice and never got to know him, but he felt like family because of how important his songs are to me. A lot of people will miss Guy, but I believe this concert was cathartic to us all in our grieving process.

Vince Gill came out and said, Imagine three hours of No Shitty Songs! That's what we have in mind for tonight! Well, he hit the mark and then some. There were smiles, there were tears and there was laughter as musicians and fans alike got to enjoy a great evening celebrating one of America's greatest songwriters! Starting out with Jerry Jeff Walker and just going on and on from there, ending with everyone on stage singing along with Verlon Thompson on "Old Friends". Not many dry eyes in the house after that!

The celebration of Guy Clark's life was wonderful. The array of talent on hand that Guy influenced, befriended and created with was staggering. The lineup made it clear that he and Susanna were the epicenter of a musical movement that changed Nashville and American music. I was honored to be part of this intimate affair. What a night!

The evening of August 16, 2016, at The Ryman was an emotionally and musically fantastic evening Celebrating Guy Clark. Thank you to the artists and musicians and thanks to the enthusiastic and at times respectfully raucous crowd for enhancing the memory and spirit of Guy Clark. We were honored and lucky to be in attendance to a concert I will cherish forever. The Ryman was the perfect venue for this Celebration.

This tribute was one of my concert going highlights. Vince Gill hosted the event that Rodney Crowelll planned. Jerry Jeff Walker opened and we had one great song after another from Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen, Dave Rawlings, Gillian WelchCowboy Jack, Emmy Lou, Chris Stapelton, Terry Allen. It was a beautiful evening where every artist sung from the heart. There is nothing like the Ryman and to have these beautiful artist singing was a night I'll never forget. I' and a few others left with tears of joy. I'll never again experience a night like this.

Guy Clark had an impact, large or small, on all those people on stage and in the audience, and you could feel it. Guy Clark songs take on different feelings with each interpretation. And the artists did their best as evidenced by the audience giving standing ovations to at least two thirds of the songs. Many songs brought tears to my eyes. Below we re asked to name our favorite moment. Not sure I can. Verlon Thompson was not listed as being a performer and I wanted him to be one. So when he came out and added only what Verlon could do, it made my night. Jerry Jeff Walker kicking things off was genius. The three female singers with Sam Bush and Shawn Camp backing them up was the best version of Home Grown Tomatoes I ve ever heard. Gillian Welch and David Rawlings rendition of Dublin Blues was fantastic. Play it every night! Steve Earle in many ways stole the show if anyone could, but Robert Earl Keen and Lyle Lovett really impressed too. Rodney Crowell deserves special mention for everything he did for the show. I m stopping here though could write pages more. Great Guy Clark Celebration. I wish Guy could have been there.

At least half of his songs he forgot the words. It became painful to watch, wondering when he was going to screw up again. We have never seen a performance so messed up even including garage bands.

Don't feel Guy was up to touring following his recent surgery. Forgot the words to several of the songs he sang. Wish Guy had been up to par considering the price $$ we paid for the tickets. Verlyn Thompson kept the evening from being a total lost.

Guy Clark has been a force for me since about 1975. I started playing and singing Guy Clark song then and haven't stopped yet. It was clear from the onset that he was not 100%. His leg was killing him. I admire that he showed up and toughed it out. His voice was hoarse and raspy at first but settled down pretty fast. The man is 70 years old and he was a great show even with the problems. He still wrote those great song and performs them like no one else. I went because I had never seen Guy live and this me be my only shot at seeing him. I was happy to see him and equally pleased that Verlon Thompson was with him. Verlon is a fine singer songwriter and a superb guitar player. I would pay the same price and go again tomorrow if I had the chance.

Loved the music. Too bad that Guy had health issues. I would love to know what one of his concerts is like when he is 100%. Hoping to make one of those. He gave all he had in spite of the way he was feeling.

I love Guy Clark. Unfortunately, it appears he should not be on tour, having recently undergone major surgery only 3-4 (?) months ago from which he has not fully recovered. That, combined with the wear and tear that being on the road brings rendered him not only "not up to par," but frequently embarrassing. Think Bad Blake. Guy had repeated bouts of heavy coughing/hacking, grimacing and outright complaining. He forgot the words to many tunes, and was gently brought along by his accompanist. But even he lost patience and after one too many complaint by Guy said something like "that and your aversion to the 'Big R,' " then defined as rehearsal. Guy could have pulled this off at a club, perhaps Knuckleheads, but not in a setting as expensive as the Folly. I would like a refund for my ticket, as would the friend who accompanied me, and she has been a Guy Clark fan much longer than I.
