Love Ray Lamontagne and I would come see him again and again! The venue was beautiful too! Brandi was fun and enjoyed her also. Did not get to see Vusi.

This venue was perfect for my wife and I to witness Ray Lamontagne. He sounds exactly like his CD's, perfection! I felt like he was singing to me personally and I would have paid any amount to see him live.

IT WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING THAT TICKET HOLDERS WERE NOT KEPT INFORMED OF THE WEATHER RELATED ISSUES. WE DID GET A VOICE MAIL ON OUR HOME PHONE BUT WE WERE 2 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL IF STAFF CAME OVER THE LOUDSPEAKER AND ADVISED TICKETHOLDERS WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THE CROWD ALL SUBMERGED INTO THE OPEN AREA THAT WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR SEATS; THIS MADE US EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE! ALSO THE SHOW WAS VERY VERY VERY SHORT AND WE DO NOT FEEL THAT WE GOT WHAT WE PAYED FOR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED!

It's become so much about the glitz and the "show" that it was truly refreshing to hear a singer/songwriter like Ray LaMontagne who can move you just by strumming his guitar and weaving his heartfelt lyrics into a magical spell. The Pariah dogs are no slouches either, especially his steel and slide guitarists, who are among the most respected musicians in their field. My first concert in several years, and such a pleasure!

Ray is an astonishing singer/songwriter. This show exceeded my high expectations, as did the performances of The Secret Sisters and Brandi Carlile - totally amazing!!

Although I love Ray LaMontagne, I was disappointed he didn't play "Empty". The venue was not a great one, port a potties with no toilet paper was a downer. 90 Minutes including the encore.....expected a few more songs.

Show was good, but I have gripes with the audience. When I go to a show, I go to listen to the music, not other people's conversations. I wish the venue would close down the alcohol concessions during the show - I get tired of the same people getting up and down constantly to go get drinks. Did they come to get drunk or listen to music? Why do people have to be on their cellphones during the show - it's annoying and distracting.

Very disappointed that Ray did not invite Brandi Carlile to sing with him during his set. It was Brandis birthday and the Brandi fans would have appreciated it. He didn't even acknowledge her. And....her set was way too short. She was not the opening act....She is a bigger star then he is and should have sung equally as long.

Great show, great venue. Ate at a little deli across the street because all the restaurants in the area had a 2+ hour wait, was excellent. Show got delayed because a storm rolled in everyone huddled under the tent and enjoyed the lightning show. Ray came on after it passed and was amazing.

Ray Lamontagne was simply incredible! Listening to his voice rolling through Rumsey Playfield on a warm NYC evening couldn't have been more wonderful. His set was a fantastic mix of new songs and older ones, and when he took to the harmonica, a good old-fashioned, hand-clapping dance party happened right in the heart of the Big Apple. For all the Southern transplants in the audience like myself, it was exactly the kind of home-cooked feeling you wanted to leave with!

If you're a Ray fan, go see him live. My concerns that his gentle voice and restrained music wouldn't translate well to an outdoor venue were completely unfounded. He was, in a word, incredible. Ray's sublime vocals soared on the spring breeze with flawless accompaniment from the Pariah Dogs. Every song was a work of art, a treasure that left us wanting more. The only negative - a relatively large contingent of the crowd seemed more interested in socializing than listening. Quiet please! Kudos to the venue for the sound quality. Crystal clear. Beautiful.

Excellent on all counts. Line to get in moved quick, beer and food lines moved quick, the sound quality was good and stage visibility. Plenty of portable bathroom units. If you go on a night when the weather is good, you should love it!

It was overpriced considering you had to fight for a piece of ground to sit on. In the future I will just sit on the grass outside of the gates and listen for free. Also, fairly short setlist from Ray.

Show was oversold; way too many people for the space. I have been to many shows at Rumsey Playfield and part of the allure of seeing a concert there is that you get to grab a blanket and sit and watch the show. However, because there were so many people we were told that we all had to stand up and move closer together to accommodate everyone. That would have been fine, if we knew about it going into it, but I'm sorry Ray LaMontagne is mellow and better enjoyed while just sitting back and hanging out rather than someone you want to have to listen to while standing body to body in 85 degree heat.

I've seen Ray play four times since he began his career. I love his music, but lately he is lacking passion. He seemed disconnected from the audience as he has been for some time. He sang well, and the band played beautifully. However, the show was much too short, about an hour and a half, and he didn't play enough of his hits or the best songs on the most recent album. Also, the lighting needs to improve. The stage would light up only when Ray began to sing.

Ray is awesome live. He sounds exactly as he does on his recorded tracks. He a little shy onstage but just kept playing his tunes. I was a little disappointed in the venue. As this was one of the first shows of the season they didn't have any credit card machines or ATMs set up. So we could only get one drink $8 a pop plus tip. We got there right at 5:00pm when the gates opened and were lucky enough to walk to the other side of the stage and get seats on the "grass" that had an excellent view. The thousand of people behind us though kind of got screwed if they got there late. Regardless, it was a perfect summer evening made even better by Ray and the Pariah Dogs.

I love Ray. He is an amazing songwriter and musician and i have seen him three times now in NYC. Have all of his CDs and listen to them all the time. Wife loves him and his music is a part of our lives. This past show at CP was not his best work. Sounded weak and did not seem to want to be there. Obnoxious version of NY is Killing me in Central Park on a amazing spring day was the capper for me. Warm up acts were lame too. Just a donwer of a show. A few high notes and some nice versions of few songs, but he left the (and it seemed most of the crowd) underwhelmed, a bit bored and wanting something more. He could have soared, and instead he bored. Not his finest hour (and what a short show it was...). Was hoping for a truly special New York night, and Ray was a let down. I really don't think he likes NYC, which is too bad.

Rumsey Field is a great, intimate venue. It is the second time I have been there. Nice and mellow. For the price of those tickets though I was disappointed in the fact that Ray LaMontagne played more what I would consider what was a "set" more than a "show" - I did not go or pay to see the opening acts and I was sad to be walking out of the venue at 9:30 at night. RL is an amazing artist. I have seen him a few times before. Just disappointed he did not play longer, his voice, his music is so beautiful.

First experience at this venue. A confluence of events for a great evening. Small venue, mellow crowd , great weather. Excellent music. All performers played their hearts out. My only complaint was when they tried to smash everyone in tighter saying "we have 1000 more people to squeeze in here. I thought it was a blanket on the ground sort of event, don't over sell it please! We quietly resisted, kept our blanket (for 4) and ultimately it was fine! Would definitely do something like this again.

Good show at the Mann Center...the weather wasn't the best, it was a bit chilly and quite wet! but Ray put on a good show. Only complaint...the Mann Center ran out of beer just as Ray started to play! It was the last show at the Mann for the year, but they were a bit conservative with their estimates! 2nd time i've seen Ray, bluesy, mellow...very cool show

This was my third time seeing Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs...and THE BEST show yet! His voice is just so soulful..he's so talented....just blows you away! Fave Moments (too much to write down below) There are 2: EMPTY! This was my #1 song wish, but I was not getting my hopes up. When it started, I just stood and listened in awe as I could not believe I was hearing it, but also absorbing the whole thing. My other fave of his is "Like Rock & Roll and Radio." I did not get to hear this at the DMB Caravan in Atlantic City, so I was really hoping I would get to hear it in Central Park. After his first encore song "Let It Be Me" I noticed the band leave, and only Ray was on stage with his guitar and harmonica. I knew it had to be...and once it started, again, I just stood there in awe. It was amazing - the crowd was so quiet that you could hear a pin drop in Central Park, in the middle of NYC... what an awesome moment!

I have been following Ray Lamontagne since he put up his first song on myspace a few years ago. I was immediately hooked. I have every album he has ever made. Each year when he has come within driving distance I have been working or didn't find out about the even until tickets were sold out. I saw him this year the day before my birthday, it rained the entire time at an outdoor event but I could not have been happier. He sings what he believes. Thats the attraction for me. He sings so hard his feet come off the floor and his voice cracks,,, his heart is in it.

The experience of the night may have worked a little better LaMontagne had gone first and Carlile brought it home. She played with a ton of energy and really had the house rockin (despite the rain). LaMontagne, with his characteristic low-key sound, brought it down a little.

Came for Ray, but Brandi Carlile had incredible presence and amazing voice. The Mann is an incredible place to see a concert; saw Arcade Fire there in May and both their rocking, loud show and the quiet, intimate performance of Ray LaMontagne are great at the Mann. Ray doesn't talk a lot during his set and I was surprised how many people left towards the end. But his well-known songs didn't disappoint.

Ray LaMontagne is phenomenal. Period. I loved the show, acoustics were good, etc.The down side, if any was the venue itself. The tickets themselves specify "general admission"...(ergo no actual seats). For an "on my feet, can't stop moving" type of show, this would be ok. I'd love to have been in a theatre and seen this show. this may have been part of the problem with the constant murmur of incredibly rude people talking while Ray was trying to perform. He was able to say from the stage, what I was screaming in my head. It has to be very frustrating as an artist to try to perform to an audience that doesn't seem to appreciate what you're doing. All in all, this was great.

The opening act was a young woman named Dawn Landes who was excellent, we bought her vinyl, met her and she signed it, and we will follow her career. I admit that I was not entirely familiar with Brandi Carlisle's music but she was awesome and really had the crowd going. She was engaging with the audience and clearly half the crowd was there to see just her. Ray LaMontagne followed Brandi and it felt a bit sleepy. There was little interaction with the audience and the energy in the crowd quickly dissipated. While his music was entertaining, much of it felt redundant and there wasn't enough of the upbeat songs intermixed to keep the audience engaged. There were many early exits including ours after about an hour of Ray.

Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs put on a great show. There is so much emotion in Ray's voice, making him even better live than on his records. One of the problems was that it took way too long to go from song to song. The break between each song caused the energy level to go down for the audience. Also the fast then slow then fast etc songs didn't work to get all of us going. When Ray spoke, it was impossible to hear him, no stage presence whatsoever. Disappointed.

Seeing Ray LaMontagne was a long awaited event for me. I bought my tickets back in March as a birthday present for myself and I must say, it was the best present ever and well worth the wait! Ray has a voice that flows over me and fills me up! Absolutely will see him again, anytime I can. It couldn't have been a more perfect night and it was so great that he finished the encore with Let It Be Me. One of my faves. Brandi Carlile and The Secret Sisters were also excellent, each bringing their own style and talent to the stage.

The concert was excellent. The sound was excellent and Ray was great. The venue was nice, with the city of Chicago in the evening in the summer. Keep in mind from the lawn you cannot see the performer, but these tickets were very inexpensive ($20) so that was fine. The most important thing that I wish I knew before, was the fact that there was no food inside the gates. I did not know this and it was a huge problem!! The tickets said no food or drink allowed in. I got in there and found out that everyone (it seemed but us) had picnic food and we were starving!!

I took my girlfriend to see Ray LaMontagne and Brandi Carlile at the Mann Center, and we both had a fantastic time. I went in not knowing much about either band, but was very impressed by everything. The acoustics were outstanding. We sat in the middle of the balcony, which was a little far away, but thankfully safe from the rain. Both performers put on an excellent show. I would highly recommend going to see both artists, and would definitely go back to the Mann Center. The only thing I could find wrong with the evening was driving to the Mann Center takes you through a pretty shady neighborhood.

This may be a little biased because I am a HUGE Ray fan, but this was my first time finally seeing him live and it was undoubtedly fantastic. The only thing that made the night a little less than perfect was the fact that it was rainy and cold and we had lawn seats, but I was so into the music the whole time I barely noticed until I was drenched! But back to the music, Ray's voice is every bit as soulful and magnetic as it is in recordings. He is truly a talented singer/songwriter and I would recommend his music to anybody! The venue was great too; not to big and not too small, with just the right amount of a sort of indie feel that really jived with Ray (and Brandi Carlisle, too - she also has a phenomenal voice). Overall, this show was everything I'd hoped for and I definitely plan on seeing him again.

Ray sounded phenomenal and he played such a great mix of old and new songs- hearing Empty was incredible, I know he doesn't play it all that often and to hear it live was the best part of the night.

Ray LaMontagne (and the Pariah Dogs) absolutely never disappoint! Ray has the most pure, honest voice. He is very devoted to his fans and always performs to the best of his ability. His show is not flashy and there is no screen on which his face is projected. Rather, it is a completely soulful experience that allows you to take in the richness of the music and find your own sense of faith. This is not the first time I have seen him perform and it will most definitely not be the last. Brandi Carlile was a great opening act. Very honest voice, wonderful on the guitar. She performed a Johnny Cash song which won me over instantly.

Ray LaMontagne and Brandi Carlisle both put on extraordinary shows. However, the venue was not so fantastic. The Mann is set in a beautiful location, which is great, but it has not been updated to include outdoor screens or speakers (and if it is, I sure didn't see either one). Bottom line is that even though the artists were amazing, I would not go back to The Mann to see another show.

This was the best concert I have ever been to, for any type of music across the board. Even in the rain, cold and wet, even though I fell flat on my ass right before getting back in the car, this was the best night I have had all year.

Came for Ray and discovered Brandi Carlile. Dawn Landes opened for them, which was an added bonus (I only knew one song of hers before). But Brandi brought down the house. Fabulous energy, voice, and style. Ray was, as always, great. A little subdued after Brandi's energy, but it's the end of his tour, and I love his quiet songs the best. One encore, and it was much appreciated. A concert well-worth the drive.

I think that the first time I became aware of Ray was when he appeared on Saturday Night Live in support of the "Gossip In The Grain" album. I was aware of how talented he was but didn't become a super fan of his until my ex turned me on to his entire catalog. I was instantly hooked. His songwriting is something that is missing from much of modern music and what more can be said about that voice? He is a special performer and I hope that this was just the first of many more concert experiences in his presence.

Singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne is like no other performer I've ever seen before, and I've seen plenty. Surprisingly sexy, adorably shy, musically gifted. The man took his time and left the crowd happy and begging for more.

I know what I've been through in life which has shaped me into a deep, passionate person. As I absorbed the density of the lyrics, I wondered what events have shaped Ray's life. He's voice is sentational, soultry, soothing and so honest. I absolutely loved each artist before Ray. They complimented his performance beautifully. I am a recent but total fan of Ray's for life. Looking forward to the next show with Ray.

Brandi Carlile opened for Ray LaMontagne. Brandi rocked the house. I have seen her about 10 times in concert. She is always a crowd pleaser and Friday night at The Mann was no exception. She had the crowd on their feet - clapping enthusiastically to Folsom Prison(Johnny Cash cover). The twins (Tim & Phil) sang great harmonies to compliment Brandi's angelic voice. Brandi interacted with the audience and made everyone feel like they were part of the show. Awesome. Ray LaMontagne was detached from the crowd. His music was good but the only words uttered were his complaints of current country music with "their fake eyelashes". He seemed a bit bitter about it. It left a sour taste in my mouth. We left after an hour of Ray's performance. I wish that Brandi had played longer than her 45 minute set. She clearly stole the show.

Ray's voice is undeniably beautiful and was surprisingly just as great live. I do not think that Stage AE was the right venue for this concert, however. The location, in such a busy area, with the highway, dowtown, etc., all around, drew additional noise & apparently it was bothersome to Ray that there was also chatter within the crowd. The subsequent tantrum that Ray had in the middle of a song was unwarranted. His use of foul language & a scolding of the crowd was a complete turn-off. Great voice or not, Ray Lamontagne should be a little ashamed of his behavior, and not the other way around. If he comes back to Pittsburgh, he may want to consider performing in an indoor venue which is likely where he feels more comfortable.

Ray LaMontagne by far has one of the most amazing singing voices I've ever heard! However, if you're anxious to hear a back story to his songs or his interactions with the crowd, don't hold your breath! Ray had very little to say at all, until he yelled profanities at the crowd for talking too much during his set. I was a little taken aback by his reaction and cold response to the crowd, but luckily his awesome voice makes up for his crummy personality!

I am not overly familiar with Ray LaMontagne's music, but took my wife and her friend to this show as the DD. I'm more of a metalhead myself, but I was able to enjoy the showmanship and many of the songs at this show. The crowd reaction definitely indicated to me that he put on a favorable set list. In my opinion however, the two or three fast-paced, bluesy rock songs were more enjoyable than the rest of the set which were more slow ballads in the vein of some old school country. I did enjoy myself at this show though and the venue (Mann Center) was very cool. We had lawn tickets but security had no problem with us moving a lot further up under the overhangs in the rain, despite that fact that we were in front of the last sections of seats. Overall we had a really fun night and if you are a Ray L. fan I am pretty sure you'd enjoy the show!

I ADORE Ray however wasn't that satisfied with seeing him in central park. Although central park is a great venue, I would have rather seen him in a more personal and intimate setting.

I thoroughly enjoyed my night listening to Ray LaMontagne and Brandi Carlile! Brandi just rocked and kept me moving in my seat. Loved the fiddling! She is excellent and I found her to be a perfect choice to open for Ray. Ray exceeded my expectations. One minute I was chilling and in a musical trance and next...up and rocking! I also loved his stage set-up. I liked how all musicians were in a row - no one pushed to the back. Background lighting made it appear as if they were playing outside in a field or even in the clouds. Very effective! Superb night that I will remember for quite some time. Be jealous if you weren't there!

This was the third time I've seen Ray live, each time the show has gotten worse. This was more of a lullaby folk music to put us to sleep. I would not go see him again, he did not play all of his hits and I don't believe he has enough songs in his catalogue to not play the songs that made him famous.

While I was aware that Ray would be performing a lot of songs off of his newer album, God Willin' and the Creek Don't Rise, I really wish he played more songs from his first 3 albums. His amazing voice and insane talent made up for the lack of classics, but the crowd was visibly more excited when he played his solo songs.

Ray LaMontagne is an amazing singer and songwriter. This is my third time seeing him, each time in a larger venue. He is much better in an intimate venue and in my opinion he mailed in this performance for a paycheck. I understand his frustration with people talking through his performance, but if he wants to play bigger venues and make bigger paychecks than he should perform to that audience. Otherwise, go back to smaller venues.

Really good concert. Quiet but beautiful. A few sections really rocked including and especially Repo Man - my favorite of the night. Trouble and Beg Steal and Borrow were excellent. A little too country for me at points but well worth seeing. Would have been better smaller and indoors.

Unlike most concerts that are too loud and make your ears ring, this one was too quiet. When Ray sang song where it was only him and his guitar, it was hard to hear him over the crowd noise. At one point in the concert he even yelled out to the crowd "will all you MotherF.....ers shut the F' up! If not leave....I'll give you your money back!" This of course surprised me, even though I was thinking the same thing. The crowd noise did subside (some), but not enough. Apparently, some people enjoy listening to themselves talk more than listen to the singer!!! Overall, Ray performs well live and his voice sounded great! (when I could hear it!!!)

Definitely the best concert I have been to so far. The Punch Brothers had some awesome song selections, especially the arrangements of their covers. In addition, hearing some of their material was awesomesauce. (Just as amazing live as they are in recording) After this, I already got tickets to see them support Paul Simon. Definitely a band that progressive acoustic fans should pay attention to for a good time. Ray was ray, amazing and fun. I couldn't stay the entire time because I live 2 and a half hours away but from what I heard while I was there it was amazing. Plus who can't like the animal magnetism that ray's beard gives off... come on now. Also amazing live too. Overall just an awesome concert that I recommend people try to see while Ray is on tour.

Let me just say that I typically love going to see concerts in Pittsburgh. It is a town full of people who are passionate about music and living life. That being said, the crowd at Stage AE for Ray Lamontagne was filled with entitled, obnoxious assholes! At the start of the show, the residents of the lawn who were sitting down had the audacity to yell, ridicule, and provoke the people who were standing and dancing. Security had to approach several individuals to tell them that they had no right to harass the people who were standing & enjoying the music. As the show proceeded, there was apparently a group of drunks in front of the stage who were attempting to talk over Ray's soulful, heartfelt songs. Ray stopped the show and told them to "shut the fuck up or go home". Certainly not good for the vibe, or for his relationship with the crowd. As a whole, I found his performance to be reasonably uninspired and varied very little from what I can hear on his albums. I go to shows expecting passion, showman ship, & energy. I got none of those things.
