My brother told me about the concert last year and we missed it when it was in So. Cal and Las Vegas. Now that we've seen it, we will definitely see the show again. It was awesome. At the end of the show, John Williams came out as a special guest and conducted the last piece. So amazing!

The show was good, I liked the second part of the show more since it had the lasers.
It was a great production. The live orchestra was the best. It was just under two hours and I believe played all of the popular Star Wars music. My 10 and 6 year old sons were very excited to see this show and they were on the front of their seats all night.

Even if you had never seen the movies you would have enjoyed this program because they told the story ALL OVER AGAIN! The music was awesome! Sometimes I got lost in not even realizing that the music was NOT a piped in soundtrack! Great show.. The venue however was not so great! This would have been better at a musical concert hall, but as we had a great vantage point, I can't complain.

We went to the Sunday evening show and because the show wasn't sold out, we got upgraded to better seats! Everyone attending was just like us, SO thrilled to be there, so that made it fun. We enjoyed having our pictures taken with the Storm Troopers. The show started with our host, Mr. Anthony Daniels, C3PO. He was SO charming and funny. The concert was trulyl phenomenal. The clips from all of the movies were just great, the light show was fabulous and the music?? OMG they were SO incredible. We would go AGAIN and AGAIN to see this show.

The show was fantastic but we had great floor seats about 2/3 back from the stage. They did a great job retelling the story of Star Wars by breaking it down into topics vs. episodes. Having Anthony Daniels (C3P0) as the host and narrator made it extra special, it was like having an old friend guiding you through it. That 30 foot hi-def screen is really spectacular and I loved the part with the green lasers shooting all across the arena. Listening to these themes that we've grown up with, your brain naturally knows what it expects to hear and the orchestra does not disappoint one bit. They were spot on, complete with droid sounds and special effects. As you watch the sequences on the screen, the music is so well integrated and synched that you forget that you're actually listening to live music, that's how good these musicians are and you realize just how much of a musical genius John Williams really is. The whole evening brought back great memories of where I was in my life and who I was with when I saw each Star Wars episode at the movies. It also reminded me of all the Star Wars toys I had growing up and my Star Wars lunch box that continues to this day to be proudly displayed in my kitchen. The only thing I would point out is it may not be appropriate for young kids under the age of 8. The ones that were sitting around us had either fallen asleep half way through or were cranky and acting up.

Overall this was a fantastic show. I went with my 8 year old son and he was thrilled. The single screen is large and very clear. It wasn't just images but actual clips from the films. Most of the dialog was silenced but sometimes a line or two emerged. It was told in story order (Ep I - VI) via montages. So there was a Darth Vader montage and a Leia montage mixed in with segments about the rise and fall of the Empire. The music was outstanding, played very well by the orchestra. Seeing Anthony Daniels was neat although sadly it seemed a bit awkward for him to narrate (really introducing the segments). But how can one complain seeing one of the original Star Wars cast?? At times they showed the orchestra instead of clips on the big screen which bored my son but it wasn't too often. Overall we had a great time.

I admit I am not the biggest star wars fan around, I can't quote every line, I can't tell you the names of the planets in the movies, and I honestly I wouldn't have gone to this on my own I went to this as an anniversary gift for my fiance. But I have to say I was quite impressed with the show and to be just 5 rows from the stage added to the overall experience. The music was absolutely amazing and powerful, I can honestly say it invoked memories of my childhood watching the saga and the wonderment I had towards them. Even the Art show before hand was amazing. To be able to be just inches away from the fallen hero Han Solo frozen in carbonite, to be able to stand right next to the Ewoks, or just to see how the movies were made. But what "takes the cake" is the show it self , how the moments from the movies were so perfectly coordinated with the live orchestra at points almost brought a tear to my eye. I would recommend this to any hardcore Star Wars fan and to the people who just enjoyed the movies. Five Stars all the way.

This concert was beyond what we had expected, and was among the most enjoyable shows for a family. Anyone who appreciates the Star Wars symphony will be overwhelmed by what a great job they did with combining the story lines with live music and visual extravaganza. And having Anthony Daniels (C3PO) narrate was a treat. Museum items were fantastic with live characters available for pictures with the kids (and adults); nice plus.

You cannot appreciate how impressive it is to faithfully recreate the soundtrack to all six Star Wars movies until you have seen it performed live! The members of the orchestra were absolutely passionate and enthusiastic about being able to play this music live. And having Anthony Daniels (i.e. C-3PO) narrate the entire concert live was a wonderful bonus. I could not recommend this more!

I admit - you have to be a Star Wars fan to truly enjoy this. But when one considers that this epic story has now spanned four generations of us humans, it has elements that are making Star Wars timeless, and it speaks to the kid in most of us. That George Lucas borrowed key elements from mythology has clearly helped this and was a masterful stroke of his creativity, and John Williams' brilliant compositions clearly remind us and show how much of a modern-day genius with music he is. To be able to hear his wonderful works performed by a live symphony is a treat that not enough of us take advantage of these days (although he is not part of this show in person--there's another conductor leading the orchestra). Sure, one can buy a CD or download, but it is not the same as experiencing the energy given by live performers. When we first arrived at our seats before the show and saw the stage, I wondered how the organization functions - do they come to town with a core entourage and then hire professional musicians as ringers? Or does the entire orchestra travel together from city to city? There must be at least sixty orchestral and staff members who are getting paid for this work, but it is highly professional and this is clearly evident in the quality of the music and its performance. The accompanying visuals excerpted from all of the six films are edited wonderfully and whoever synced the visual scenes with the music is very talented in matching visuals and sound (and must have been incredibly patient in piecing it all together!) But the result is wonderful and to see that the LIVE performance is so precise with the visual imagery and light show is a fun experience. Adding the cameras onstage to film the orchestra was also a very nice touch and added to the entertainment. So many of the musicians clearly love what they are doing, and it was evident on their faces as they played. Spanning the orchestra live kept our attention pretty well as the orchestral arrangements were performed. Anthony Daniels (who played C-3PO in the films) is the narrator, and does a nice job (though at times his delivery did come across as a bit canned, but on balance, still pleasant and nostalgic (to his credit, he has a lot of lines to recite). As one might expect, there are a lot of kids in the audience, but this is a wonderful show for all ages to witness (and it's important that kids get exposed to orchestral performance), and could even be fun for a date. My 17-year-old son and I went, and I thought he would probably yawn most of the time; but we were both pleasantly surprised by the show--much more than we had expected. It is the right length of time and went by faster than one might think. As a culture here in America, we (i.e. the general public) don't take enough advantage of orchestral performances these days, and this is a wonderful way to experience that--especially for youth--as well as relive the excitement when we first saw each of these movies. Would recommend this to anyone who has enjoyed Star Wars. Hope these comments help if you're contemplating whether or not to go. In my view, you'd be making a fun choice for a few hours' escape on a weekend afternoon.

I don't know if it's the seats we got, but the experience was absolutely memorable! We purchased the VIP Hot Seat tickets @ $150 a piece and I was concerned we'd be feeling it wasn't worth it. The "exhibit" was nice, even though it was just random costumes, props, and scenes situated around the first floor walking area. The seats, though, were worth every penny, sitting in the middle of the 9th row from the front. The show was amazing with fantastic music, awesome lights and video, and a wonderful experience all around. Having Anthony Daniels actually there on stage throughout the event made it all worth it in the end! I don't know if the Platinum VIP tickets ($300!!) would have been worth it, since they only got a little extra than we did, but the $150 tickets were definitely worth the money!

The show was fantastic! The orchestra sounded great and the effects were everything you could want. Seeing the Star Wars clips in High Definition was a huge plug for the upcoming Blue Ray release. It was almost sensory overload where you had to remind yourself to focus on the music while some of the clips were playing. Anthony Daniels was a delight narrating the segments as only he can. My only criticism was that our seats were too good. We sat in the first few rows and some of the lighting rigging blocked the screen slightly. It wasn't too distracting, but it seemed avoidable. Perhaps the size of the venue limited the options for the screen height. At any rate, I would highly recommend this show for a Star Wars fan of any age!

The choir and orchestra were awesome. Everything was coordinated to the millisecond with the video and cameras. The narration was very entertaining as well. We all (2 adults and a 5yr old boy) thoroughly enjoyed the show. We also enjoyed the displays they had around the main area with costumes and props, etc to view. It didn't start off well with unexplained lines for all of us with 2nd level seats at the venue (still in them when the show started), but we did end up with seats in the lower level. Just wish we would have been inside to hear the THX and intros. Would have been perfect if the Xcel had been a tad more organized and efficient with all the rearranging.

I bought tickets to this as a surprise for my 10 year old....I couldn't afford more than the cheapest seats which had me worried about how well we would be able to see (I would sit there again...excellent seats with great view!!). But.....from the moment we walked in to the Dane County Coliseum......we had a wonderful time! The costumed characters walking around the main lobby floor were a great touch, and available for pictures. The orchestra was highly talented and the music was incredible!! We loved the laser show with some of the music. Fun!! Anthony Daniels (played C3P-0 in the movies) was the BEST person for the Narrator job, he was witty, animated, spoke clearly, and made the whole show extra fun. The movie clips and pictures playing behind the orchestra on a huge screen were great and well picked for each of the sequences. Let me tell you, the intermission was perfectly timed!!! We even had extra time to go down and check out some more of the great displays of costumes, and checked out the souvenir stand. This was something I would definitely go to again if it came back. My son kept telling me "Thanks Mom, this is awesome!!" I know he enjoyed it as much as I did. My only complaint was the price of the souvenirs.....$30. for the program!!! $30 for a t-shirt, pretty high priced stuff. Had to have the t-shirt but should have gone without the program!!

July 10, 2010 The "Star Wars in Concert" event was amazing! It was incredible to see all of the musicians play some of the infamous Star Wars soundtrack live. The lights, video footage/clips, lasers, music, sound, big HD screen, and narration were all incredibly awesome!!! It was really neat to see Anthony Daniels, who actually played C-3PO in the series, narrate the show. He was fantastic and very fun to watch and listen to. His voice as C-3PO really is his normal voice! I only wish the cameras showed more shots on the screen of the musicians playing. After all, that's what everyone's there for and why it's called a "concert." At least 90% of the audience members have seen the films, so it's really the musicians' time to shine. So there should have been less video footage of the films and more live video of the musicians playing. Another cool aspect of the concert is the "pre-show." If you arrive early enough before the concert starts, you can stroll through the corridors and lobbies of the stadium/auditorium. While there, you will see numerous costumes, drawings, sheet music, and settings that were actually used in the Star Wars films. Some of them weren't even used, but were just considered for the franchise. These artifacts have never been shown to the public before. Feel free to take as many pictures as you want. Also, many of the Star Wars characters are walking around to give you great photo opportunities. I got pictures with Chewbacca, a stormtrooper, R2D2, Princess Leia, and a few others. Darth Vader was also there, but it was extremely difficult to get a picture with him, since he had the longest line and the most people around him. Chewbacca equally had the line of people, but I chose to get a picture with him instead of Darth Vader. You can take pictures during the concert. However, there can be no flash photography or video. Therefore, you must have a pretty good camera in order to get a few decent shots. I think I got some good shots of the show. I would definitely recommend this show to anyone, even if you're not a Star Wars fan. This is NOT a geek fest like Com-Con (Comic Convention), even though you will see some people dressed up like some of the characters. Be careful -- you just might end up getting a picture of a non-authentic costume/character. Some fans' costumes are pretty darn good and I saw a number of people stop them to have a picture taken with them. The show ran a little over 2 hours long. Again, I would recommend this experience to anyone, even children (10+). "Star Wars in Concert" is fantastic and a memorable experience of the Arts. Go see it -- you won't regret it!

The Star Wars in concert was at the iwireless center in Moline, IL last night. I had two floor tickets and purchased the VIP package. I am 40 years old, so I have been with the Star Wars mayhem since 1977 when I watched the first Star Wars movie and will be a fan of all the movies forever. When the music of the orchestra started and the movie clips were playing I just sat in my chair with goosebumps! This is the most awesome experience a Star Wars fan can experience, unless you are able to go to one of the Star Wars celebration events, I am still trying to make it to one. This concert is worth every penny I paid for the 2 tickets and I would have paid more. The total experience was extremely enjoyable. The weather was chilly toward the end, but we were prepared. We arrived early and had a relaxing dinner in our box. The Hollywood Bowl orchestra is very good and of course, music by John Williams has no modern equal. Antony Daniels' narration of the entire Star Wars Saga fit in with the music and helped make the story complete. At times, the visual graphics were a little distracting, and I think that I would like to hear the presentation as just a concert to more fully appreciate the music.

When I saw that Star Wars in Concert was coming to the Hollywood Bowl I knew it was a must see for my 8 year old twin boys. My twins have been humming complete scores from Star Wars from the back seat of our car since they were six. They got dressed up as jedis and in the picnic area across the street from the Bowl they even got to have a light saber duel with some of the other kids attending the concert . At the concert the orchestra and film projections had the boys (and us grownups) spell bound . Anthony Daniels (who played C-3PO) was a great choice for narrator. All in all a perfect family evening!

Not only do you get to watch endless montages from all the Star Wars movies, but you get to hear an orchestra playing the music LIVE!!!!! What more can you ask for?? There were a lot of times when I forgot the orchestra was there because they sounded SO good, I thought it was just part of the movie clips! And with Anthony Daniels (C3PO) hosting, it made it extra special that someone from every Star Wars movie was there talking to you! I've always been a huge fan of Star Wars music, but to hear it live was even more awesome and it gave me goosebumps every time a new song came on! There were also Star Wars exhibits all around the arena that you could look at and you could take pictures with certain characters. GO! NOW!

From the moment I set foot in the arena, I knew I was in heaven. Cosplayers young and old walked around, cameras flashing left and right. Costumes, props, and backdrops were placed about the arena, available for pictures and posing. Even parts of the originial score were on display. I think no matter what seat in the house you get, you will be amazed. Star Wars fans can enjoy the beautifully synchronized videos on the GIANT screen in the front, anyone at all can enjoy the sheer magnificence of a professional orchestra playing some of the best -known themes in the world. I enjoyed every single second of this show, and highly recomend seeing this to ANYONE who appreciates phenomenal entertainment. Your mind will be blown to a galexy far, far away.

I have always appreciated music and this has definitely been an awesome concert. The musicians were amazing, the quality of sound and picture... wow! I was speechless the whole time and we all rise to applaud this magnificent masterpiece. Thanks for the awesome time, my fiance has that look of a little kid and that was priceless... it was also an honor to meet Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), he is a character.

The music for this event was so perfect and captivating that most of the time if you weren't looking at the orchestra, you forgot that that you weren't listening to the soundtrack that was recorded to go along with all of the images displayed on the screen. Considering that the pictures were from all of the movies and were a combination of touching moments and battle scenes- that's a pretty amazing feat. If this show comes to your area, I'd definitely recommend seeing it!

The music was fabulous and the huge LED screen was phenomenal! The orchestra, choir, conductor, and all did a wonderful recreation of the Star Wars Music from all six films! Plus, I can hardly believe that I was actually in the same room with Anthony Daniels who played C-3PO in all six Star Wars films!!! Star Wars In Concert is a must see!

Hello, We took our 6 year old to this concert for his birthday. I would have to say the orchestra was amazing, but that's about it. It lacked something...maybe variety? Not sure, anyway, not worth the extra money we spent for the good seats. We enjoyed having pictures taken with some of the characters before the show. Overall, I would say buy the cheapest seats you can get, because other than that it was just glorified clips of some of the move. We are HUGE Star Wars fans and left pretty disappointed. At one point, our son was "bored" and would have gone home if we let him. The laser light show was also sad and pathetic.

I took my 11 y.o. son to see Star Wars in Concert. Despite his youth, he's a huge Star Wars fan... episodes 1 - 6. The powerful music, the images, Anthony Daniels, and the laser show... all of these elements combined to make a goose-bump filled, inspirational, and memorable afternoon matinee. I was 9 when Star Wars - Episode 4 was released in the theaters. Hearing and seeing the sounds of the Star Wars movies brought back the fun memories and feelings of childhood, the anticipation of the sequels, and the awe of the unforgettable world created by George Lucas. All the of the major, easily recognizable songs are played by the Star Wars Orchestra and they do a fine job at delivering John Williams' original scores flawlessly. I was happy to see many children, parents, and costumed Star Wars fans alike. Overall it was a wonderful experience that delighted my childhood sensibilities and exposed my 11 year old to a culturally iconic movie-themed experience that he'll remember for years to come.

I had introduced my two daughters to the Star Wars saga a few years ago, showing them the six movies in the order envisioned by George Lucas (starting with episode 1). To be able to view real movie props, interact with the costumed characters, and take pictures with famous figures from the story was a treat in itself, serving as an appropriate precursor to the actual concert. As described by the narrator, Anthony Daniels (C3P0), the musical score of the movies set the tone by which the viewer can enjoy each scene. I was able to point out to my daughters during the concert that the music we were hearing was being performed live by all the musicians on the stage. Combining the live music with the lights & laser show served as excellent accompaniment to the vivid images projected on the towering screen. In answering their questions before, during, and after the show, I was able to introduce yet another generation to Lucas' imaginative story. Returning to work today wearing my SWIC t-shirt, I was the envy of my coworkers!

This event was amazing. First of all as a bonus, there were props and blown up images from the movies to take your picture in front of. A real treat for the whole family. I highly recommend it for anyone who is a Star Wars fan. Walking into the venue it was immediately apparent that the quality was outstanding. The lighting and props, to include the conductor's stand were Star Wars themed. I felt like I had stepped onto the bridge of a star destroyer. Then, the screens came on. They were beautiful and vibrant and during one portion of the show where the cameras were panning through the orchestra, my brain tricked me into thinking there was actually a huge cello up on the stage rather than a projection of it. The music of course was gorgeous and the Star Wars orchestra and choir were top notch. I would be surprised if they weren't all recruited from other prestigious orchestra's all over the world. To top it all off Anthony Daniels narrated the entire show. It was a treat as he is a gifted story teller and has a wonderful stage presence. I will be going to this even again when it comes back!

The hallway of the DC Verizon Center had many pictures and costumes on display along with a few props and small videos describing other "making of" aspects. The show was a pure joy and having the images with the music was great, too. Edited together well to pace the music. Anthony Daniels was a real treat to listen to as well. Star Wars In Concert at the RiverCenter was Amazing !!! The Star Wars Symphony was so precise, I'd sometimes forget they were playing live. The scenes from the movies shown on the screen behind the stage were arranged and synchronized perfectly. Also the displays in the lobby were great. There were large movie backdrops, perfect for photo-ops and as my big-kid husband was in costume as a Jedi complete with his light saber, he was approached many times with requests for photos. He was a big hit. We had a blast. Almost everything about the night was perfect.

I took my two sons (14 and 8) to this as a father and son guy's trip. We are all huge Star Wars fans and from the moment we walked through the door. We were blown away! There was so much to see in the exhibit. All three of us felt like kids on Christmas morning. We were already having an amazing time by the time the show was to begin. Then from the moment the lights dropped and the first music note was heard to the very last Music note played we were all breath taken. The way it was delivered was flawless! And I honestly couldn't imagine a better narrator that Mr. Daniels. He delivered a wonderful performance. You could feel the emotion in the air that swirled around every word as he spoke and to be only complimented by the musicians and the visual department. It was truly a new experience and way to view the story. It was like the first time all over again. An experience that my sons or I will never forget. Now if only they would that big screen and sound system back to the arena and exhibit all 6 movies in full back to back. Now that would be out of this world. I know of at least 3 tickets that would be already solded!!. Thank you again for a wonderful evening for my sons and I. May The Force Be With You Always!!

I loved the symphony, the acting, the video segments. It was all wonderfully put together. In fact my only complaint had nothing to do with the show or TicketMaster at all. - The Baton Rouge River Center has these 30 foot tall speakers hanging low from the ceiling that blocked half the large movie screen for the 3rd level ticketholders. They should have raised these view obstructions or not sold tickets on the third level. Crazy, huh? Anyhow, the music was fantastic. I loved it and will tell my friends to go if it comes back through; only to skip the 3rd level seats. Show was still well worth it, view issues included. Thank you for a great evening! PS. I didn't know until your show that Jaba the Hut and Princess Leia had a love child that may have been raised by Elvis. Good to know!

STAR WARS IN CONCERT was amazing! It was not just a concert, it was so much more. The movie clips they used, came from every single Star Wars film! You were not just watching clips and listening to music. Each clip told a part of the Star Wars story in order. The narrator of the story was Anthony Daniels, C3PO. He was amazing! He was funny and the whole concert was never dull. It felt like you were in the story. If you are a fan of Star Wars or know so one who is, you must see this. This was the most awesome live performance of an orchestra that I've ever been to. For it to be Star Wars, just added that much more to it. The music (both live vocal and instrumental) was spectacular, not to mention all of the video and special effects that were done. The narration by the 'soul' of C3-PO (by Mr. Daniels no less!!) was perfect!! The way that all 6 movies were broken down and was presented at their base elements gave a fresh look of the Star Wars saga. It was also very interesting as a movie buff to be able to see some of the movie props and costumes used in the movies. If I am able, I will go and see this again!!

Wasn't sure what to expect from this event. Hubby saw it on PBS and, being a Star Wars fanatic, wanted tix right away. I've always loved the orchestration of the films, perhaps more so than than the films themselves, so I agreed. Seeing the orchestra and choir in front of us, playing all the wonderful themes, was unreal. The light show was spectacular, and the movie sized LCD display was beautifully crisp. Along side the screen were LCD beads, which added to the overall visual experience by showing additional scenes, views of the orchestra or an expanded view. The lighting itself, which included spots, lasers and Color Kinetics, was synchronized to the music as well as to the on-screen shots, making the whole experience seamless and immersive. Anthony Daniels was a wonderful narrator not only for the obvious reason (he was C3PO) but because he held everyone in thrall with his short but concise, energetic explanations of the following scene. I would really like to sit down with him and just pick his brain. We were able to sit front and (practically) center and I believe it made the show even better. If you go, get there early to see the display of movie paraphernalia on display just outside. There are large tableaus of movie scenes in front of which you can take some very funny pictures!

The concert itself was really well done. The orchestra was phenomenal. At least when it comes to the Star Wars music, the orchestra is on par with any major symphony orchestra. Anthony Daniels did a great job narrating the show. We sat on the floor in front of some massive speakers and were worried that it might be too loud. But apparently, unlike most rock concerts I've been to, they actually must balance out the speakers so that nothing is overblown. There were display cases with concept art, costumes and figures from the movies, as well as large panoramas that you could take your picture in front of. They also had characters from the movies walking around that you could take your picture with. My only complaint is a minor one and had nothing to do with the concert, but with the event staff. We had VIP tickets and were supposed to be let in to see everything 30 minutes before general admission. They were 15 minutes late letting us in. At any rate it is definately a concert worth seeing.

Unless you been living under a rock, everyone knows the Star Wars movies and further its music. This was a great way to enjoy the live music as you know it while watching video that had been picked and compiled into segments to compliment the music. Yoda's theme, Theme of the Empire, Cantina, Jedi to name a few was played just as I remembered from the movies but the live orchestra made it more rich, passionate, and colorful. Lighting around the stage complimented the mood of the music and commentary from Anthony Daniels set the scene. I would liked to have heard more of the choir in the back. This was more than a concert, it was an event! I was surprised by what a casual experience this was as I was dressed more to see the symphony than to be part of the "comic convention" atmosphere before the show. However, I didn't mind the casualness of it all. Lots of props and costumes from all of the Star Wars films which we found fascinating. The concert itself was simply awesome! The symphony sounded like I was listening to a cd they were so good, and Anthony Daniel (C3Po from the films) was the guest narrator. He was so great!!! The entire production felt like it was being presented for a live television concert, and every note, every word, every special effect, and every newly edited piece of film was PERFECT! I got goosebumps several times throughout the concert...even during the opening "20th Century Fox" fanfare!! The audience was great and full of truly die-hard Star Wars fans, but even the non-fan could appreciate the amazing symphony playing these amazing John Williams' scores. I'd recommend this to EVERYONE!

From the traveling pre-show exhibits, to the familiar musical numbers we all know and love, this show was everything I thought it would be! Prior to the opening number, seeing movie props and the elaborate costuming pieces fleshed out the Star Wars mythology and there were plenty of costumed extras happy to take a picture with you. The music was amazing to hear live and seeing some of the more iconic scenes set to live music only made the movies that much more wonderful. Anthony Daniels was the host and would go into typical C-3PO rants which kept the show well paced and fun. Same of the laser effects of the live show were a bit cheesy, but all and all, any Star Wars fan of the "old" or "new" trilogy is sure to love this show!

Let me preface my remarks by saying that I was raised by a single mother who made her living as a symphony violinist, and working studio musician. Due to that fact I have seen live orchestral productions of perhaps every conceivable configuration and probably touching on all genre's of music and art in one form or another. I went to this show expecting to hear a mediocre orchestra with strong principal musicians and weaker, lower echelon local musicians. Much to my suprise this tour seemingly travels with the full 110+ piece orchestra. The string section sounded as copacetic and unified as some of the greater symphony orchestra's I've heard including the Boston Pops and New York Philharmonic. I must add, to be fair however that this was not an acoustic orchestral performance so I cannot say for sure if there was any electronic "sweetening" going on in the booth as to the rich string sound. The quite large and very busy percussion section deserves a great deal of credit for having to work very hard and really driving home John Williams Epic sounding style of film score composition. The Tympanist in this Orchestra moved and used his mallets with such grace and dynamic aptitude that it was almost beautiful to watch him work. I should also mention the crisp and smooth sound that the other various percussionists brought to the overall performance. Each are surely well accomplished in their own right, even if, in this particular performance they may play only a triangle or cymbals. I've saved my favorite and, in my opinion the strongest section of this ensemble to talk about last here. The brass. All of these musicians brought they're A game to what sounded to me like an ironman event in musical performance endurance. As is common in the body of John Williams compositions, the brass are take the lead during those big Epic crescendo's and dynamic shifts in this music. They all performed as close to flawlessly as I've ever heard in my lifetime of concert-going. From the franticly stacatto and dynamicly diverse sections of "The Duel of the Fates", to the raw power heard on the first beat of measure one during the opening Title Crawl. These guys surely are world-class brass players. I would not be suprised if all of them were at the top of the Call list for their respective musicians unions in the major musical centers of the world, (i.e. New York, London, Vienna) As far as the visual experience goes, I was impressed by it but to be fair, somebody else could probably better review that aspect of this show than I could.
