Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan

Sarah McLachlan's sultry, often-heartbreaking voice has become one of the most iconic in the business, earning her two Grammys and a slew of other awards. McLachlan's emotionally charged live vocal performances on tour are a treat for any ticket buyer. Her voice has a lilting, angelic quality that can melt the toughest ear. Whether backed by a full band, sitting alone at the piano or strumming away at the guitar, her pitch is spot on, while her passion-filled voice seems to soar above and beyond the physical boundaries of the concert itself.

This was my first Sarah McLachlan concert and it was absolutely fantastic!! Her narrative and personal touch to her concert makes you feel like you re sitting in her home studio watching her sing. The band members are also very talented and complement her amazing voice perfectly. Sarah s phenomenal voice and musical talent is the real deal. I can t wait to see Sarah in concert again!! I loved everything in her concert! I hope Sarah comes to Chicago next time.

It was a dream of mine to see Sarah in concert. I knew I couldn't miss out when I saw she was coming to Ft. Lauderdale. Sarah sounds amazing on CD but nothing can compare to hearing her live. I saw in awe the entire time. It sounded unreal - I have goosebumps just thinking about how incredible it was. Absolutely worth any amount of money. The only bad thing was that the Broward Center had their annual gala that night, so there were a lot of extremely drunk people sitting in the first several rows. It detracted from the specialness of the night but didn't dull Sarah's shine.

Sarah was flawless!! What am unforgettable night! I loved all of the moments of interaction with the audience and the calm atmosphere. Butterfly Boucher did a phenomenal job, too!! When Sarah and Butterfly did their duet of "Angel," it was absolutely perfect and at numerous times I was unable to tell which one of the two was singing.

The show itself was great, Sugarland totally rocked the stage!!!! The acoustics on the other hand were not so great, at least when the stars were talking, all you really heard was "Blah, blah, blah, blah", the only exception was when Sarah was onstage.

The rain came but we were prepared. The show came and it was totally awesome.Colbie started the fun with a great set. Erykah got us into a totally great grove. Sheryl was absolutely wonderful. Sugarland had so much energy and were rocking the house. Sarah brought us home with an intimate and wonderful set. The rain actually held off for the rest of the night too. The final peice of a great night was the YES parking, we were home in no time. It was so much fun. Thank you Sleep Country it was great.

I realize it is Sarah McLachlan's show and I love her music. But her style is too mellow after upbeat, rockin' performers like Sheryl Crow and Sugarland who had the lawn crowd up and dancing. By the time Sarah came on it was kind of a let down. Had Sarah played earlier in the evening and let the high energy performances end the show, her music would have been more appreciated and the whole event would have ended on a high note. As it was, half the lawn was gone before she finished. We stayed hoping all the performers would sing together in the end, and they did, but only for one song.

I loved Sarah McLaughlin and Sheryl Crow both unbelievable musician, when you can play the piano and the guitar while singing. And Sarah McLaughlin I could listen to for hours, she is my favorite and plays amazing piano. And I love that Sheryl Crow played more songs. The one thing would have been nice to know when all of the singing started before coming to the Lilith Fair, but that is a pretty minor complaint. Thanks for a great show.

No published listing of line up or times. Start time 2:30 NOT! They did not open gates until 3pm, would not let us sit in our seats even though it was raining until after 5pm and the first band on stage did not start until 5:50. Vocal sound could have been better as the band drowned out some of the vocal artist. For future: Adhere to times, publish line up and times.

Everyone sounded and looked great. So good to see Sheryl and Sara out on the road again, they are both amazing musicians. They looked like they were having fun! The rain put a damper on it a little bit though...Glad we had seats under cover!

The show rocked! All the acts were amazing. Only two minor complaints at all. First, I wish Erika had a longer set. What she did play was great though. Biggest complaint was the traffic nightmare leaving but that is almost impossible to avoid. Overall, a wonderful afternoon and night spent listening to lovely ladies.

Yes, the artists were extraordinary and the concept and causes Lilith Fair supports are outstanding and I would've been happy to wait in the rain for Sarah McLachlan but I was ready to leave when the audience was forced to wait for Sarah and watch "Cougar Town". Honestly I didn't watch it but I'm wondering how this fits the Lilith theme? I did note that ABC staff bribed concert goers with promised "gifts" to fill out a survey after the show. When the surveys were collected people were awarded with "light-up toys" made of plastic. Definitely not the message this concert intended. Do the artists know this is happening? Is this being done to reduce the costs of the show? Why are people being given disposable plastic ponchos? Why not hand out umbrellas that can be returned at the end of the show? All of this undermines your art and what you hope to accomplish.

This event was so much better than I'd imagined it would be. I was concerned about how they would manage to play so many acts in one evening but they did it with style, grace and magnificent planning. The best acts, in my opinion, were Sugarland and (of course) Sarah McLachlan. Sugarland put on such a rousing show that the crowd, which was somewhat lethargic from the long, rainy day woke up and really got into it. Sarah, the headliner, was fantastic. Her lyrics and voice are stunning and were an amazing way to cap of the night.

First, if you take one thing away from this review, go see Grace Potter & the Nocturnals!!! The lineup additions have made this a kickass rock & roll act. Definitely a must see if you get the chance. Sheryl Crow can still rock. She was on form. The energy, power and grace she brings to the stage is stunning. Power and beauty in action. This was the first time I've ever seen Sugerland. I'd heard some of their songs on the radio before and wasn't really impressed. However, the live show is a blast. Their energy is infectious and gets you up and moving. Great fun. Sarah McLachlan was as beautiful as ever. Her voice is still stunning. Both the old and new material sounded fresh and relevant. The only downside at the event was the sound engineering during Erykah Badu's performance. I can't really review her show due to wash of mud from the lowend. The bass drum and and bass just merged into a continual lowend hum with no definition that overpowered everything else. Bummer. I think it would have been great if I could have heard it. Overall however, the show was a success. Definitely recommended.

Sarah McLachlan was spectacular last night! Not many artists can open a concert with a song like "Angel" and then go on and out perform everyone else. Out of all the performers last night, Sarah was the best. Her sound was top notch. I was disappointed with Sugarland. I love them, but I could barely hear Jennifer Nettles over the sound of her band. One of the best moments during Sugarlands' performance was when they sang "Baby Girl." The whole group was at the front of the stage in a semei circle and it was one of the few times Jennifer wasn't getting drownd out by the band. Overall, I loved Lilith Fair and I would definitely go back.

We loved the concert. All the performers were truly amazing and totally entertained us. The weather was great which helped a lot. I'm glad we had this opportunity. The only bad thing about the whole concert was the long line up to get in when the doors opened at 2:30. Stood in line for an hour in the hot blazing sun. After that everything was very good.

Overall was very good, but felt that food service was lacking; too long of lines and not enough to choice from. Shows went well, except that Sarah's performance was cut short and she was one of the main reasons I came. We should have been notified how the stage setup was going to be and the times and lineup of performers.( prior to arriving at Calgary)

We saw Lillith Fair years ago at DTE. It was a long, almost all day concert packed with stars and some less known singer song-writers who were just great. You can't compare this with a Sarah McLachlan only concert. This is a large group of talented female musicians who have great energy and it's a very fun concert!

I had been a fairly big fan of Sarah s music, and for a special occasion, paid huge money so my wife and I could sit in the middle of the fourth row at a one of her large arena shows about two years ago. Don t bother… Sarah and her band came on and rushed through her songs with hardly any comments to the audience other than the obligatory Thank you very much and I love you Chicago … She never once introduced anyone in her band who all seemed to be excellent musicians. But she did have a tender little moment where she had them all gather at her feet while she did a song at the piano all of them looking up at her lovingly. The show was like watching MTV huge screens and flashing lights, cameras catching and displaying her image everywhere, movies playing on the large screens, weird set pieces that were brought in and out little vignettes which had Sarah sitting in scenery performing songs in a theme . The show was definitely all about Sarah and how grand she was the diva definitely not about the music. Sure there were a couple of times where it was just her and the piano but these were few and far between. I d come to hear Sarah s music live, not see a stage show. If you liked the Lion King you ll love the show. If you want to hear the music buy the CDs…

Never has there been a time when I anticiptaed a concert as much as when Sara goes on tour. Wether it was solo or with the Lilith Fair I knew there was an exceptional time ahead of me. Sara has such a large and loyal following it's as if there is a familarity in the people gathering, an electric feeling starts to stir in the air. After everyone has taken their seats and the band takes the stage whistles and claps engulf the darkness. Taking the stage a strong, rich voice comes through and I have never seen such participation so strong as at one of her shows. The music is played sometimes as it is on the lp, but Sara also has such great live remix of her most popular songs. It's a show I would highly reccomend to anyone who loves live shows and great music!

Sarah McLachlan's voice sounds just as good live as it does on her CDs. She is also personable and interacts with the audience, making Sarah a "must see" on your concert "wish list". My wife and I were fortunate enough to have won the social media competition and join Sarah on stage on her "sofa". This was an unforgettable moment and we were able to speak with her, ask questions, watch four songs from the stage, and get photos with her.

Amazing evening! Sarah's voice is just as amazing as it was years ago. She may be one of the nicest celebrities out there. This was the second time I've met her and both times have been wonderful experiences. She's just so personable. During the show she answers questions from picking out of a hat. She also has social media winners come on stage at two points during the show for three songs. My wife and I were part of the first group with two other couples. The show was about two and a half hours with a 15 minute intermission. No opening act. You will get your money worth of 25 songs.

I love the small open air venue of Meadowbrook Theater. Sarah's performance was open and honest with a mix of old and new songs. A few guests were able to sit on stage...what an awesome experience! Sarah did some solo piano performances and rocked out on the guitar with the band on other songs. She took questions from the audience...very engaging. Love her music and love to attend her concerts.

Wow, Sarah McLachlan is one talented woman. She sounded great - outdoor acoustics can't be beat, and her voice's many octaves are amazing. She's the kind of person you would pay just to watch her brush her teeth because she is that talented. What set her show apart is the interaction with the audience - from the people who she brought up to the stage to sit on living room furniture to watch her perform, to answering questions written in by the audience or asked by people in the front row, to getting everyone to sing "Ice Cream" with her. I went in as a fan of her music and left as a fan of her as a person. Note that it is not the kind of concert where everyone is on their feet dancing the whole time. Mostly it was an older crowd appreciating a great voice and great music.

I was lucky enough to be invited via a beautifully hand written invitation to sit on Sarah's counch on stage for a couple of songs. I was also able to bring a friend up with me. It was very exciting and wonderful to be so close and see the show from a different perspective. Sarah has stated she was hoping to make the show a bit more intimate for some of her audience, making them feel invited to her home. It was! My only disappointment was that she didn't come over to actually say hello which you would definately do to someone invited to your "home". But, the music, as always was amazing, the venue beautiful and we had a fantastic, exciting experience.

Sarah McLachlan was amazing....not a surprise, I love her voice. Instead of having an opening act, showcasing her band was the opening act. So we got more Sarah as she played & sang w/her band as they played their songs. What a treat having an outdoor concert at the Chateau Ste Michelle Winery. If you like the Gorge, you'll love CSMW. For us west of the mountains, it's saves drive time & gas! It's small enough where it's almost like it's a back yard concert.....ok, huge back yard. Still very quaint & cozy. Every seat is great. We sat in general admission on the grass. Now we know for next time you can bring in a cooler of food. But, we had lots of superb food booths to choose from. Love that you can buy a bottle of wine & take it back to your seat......or blanket, whatever the case. If you're a Sarah fan, you'll love her concert wherever it is!

With no opening act, the show was three hours, including a 25 minute intermission and two Q&A sessions with select audience members. While the stories and questions were insightful, between that and the break, you lost some of the magical vibe of the music. Her voice has only improved in the last 22 years I've listened to her and seeing her live was a wonderful experience. She played many of her songs with a talented band that put more rock into her sound and her quiet songs were like prayers. I would see her again.

The concert was exceptional. Voice that is only getting better and better. If you are a fan then you have got to see her live. She interacts with the audience and seems to really enjoy performing for her fans.

Sarah was so comfortable and at home in this very intimate concert. I am so happy I saw her. It was my 1st time seeing her live. I have, I believe, all of her cds and have enjoyed her music all through the stages of my life. She is 2 years older than me, so I have been enjoying her music since she started! Her music thought provoking, heart-felt, and so sensitive. I felt so thrilled and honored to be in the same space with her. I do hope to attend more of her concerts.

Sarah was amazing live. Her voice was on point all night. She even had people from the audience on stage with her (via Twitter and other Social Media lotteries). Very intimate concert. As for the Kings Theatre, the place is AMAZING! Been closed for 38 years and it is back in all it's glory, even better than before. The $94 million renovations are very obvious. I have never been to a venue before where everyone was taking pictures of the venue as much as the artist! A magical concert hall.

I had bought Fumbling Towards Ecstacy back when it was released many moons ago, and have ever since considered myself a fan. I must admit I didnt buy any other albums after that just because. But when I bought these tickets for my significant other for Valentines Day it was in part to see the theater and i knew that I'd enjoy the songs from way back. Wow perfect blend of old and new songs. Artistry and the charisma of Sarah and her band , amazing. Really great quality. Her voice and range were like an Angels. Beautiful stage setting and light arrangement show. Besides the setting of the glorious venue that is Brooklyn Kings Theater. Wow! Reliving the glory of old movie palaces long forgotten. Astonishing, awe struck, shear beauty and wonderment. 8 in a scale of 1 to 10. 9 would be my favorite bands and 10 is damn near impossible to achieve. She made me want to buy the new album.

Intelligent, insightful, and relevant music delivered by a true musician that writes, plays, and sings her own songs. Sarah told personal stores that everyone can relate to while sharing her inspiration for many of the songs. Very effective in bringing the entire audience into her "living room."

As much as I love Sarah and her music, her concert fell short of my expectations. While it's very cool how she brought up "fan questions winners", it left the rest of the concert-goers with their finger up their noses. Should have at least had cameras with a big screen enabling the whole crowd to see the on-stage fans' interactions with Sarah up close. The reviewed "2 and a half hour show" was an hour or so of the beautiful music Sarah creates. The other 45-60 minutes left hundreds with nothing to do but wonder "what the hell is going on up on the stage?". The winning fans should have been allowed backstage and a meeting AFTER the show... a show which we all paid 75-100 bucks for.

Her voice is amazing with soul floating through the air and penetrating trough my soul. I had goosebumps through out the show just as I did the first time I saw her back in Febuary 1995. It's an experience worth having and holding on to for the life moments worth remembering!

This was my first time to see Sarah McLachlan live as well as my first time to visit the WinStar. The venue was very intimate, both in a good and bad way. There didn't seem to be a bad seat in the place, however the seats were entirely too close together. I felt as if the people next to me were sitting on top of me. Sarah's show was amazing. Her set list flowed very well with a nice mix of new and old hits. Her voice sounds the exact same as it does on her albums, flawless. Her stage show was so simple yet welcoming. If you have a chance, go see her. She's amazing and worth every penny.

I was one of the lucky winners who sat in the Living Room during the first set. The entire performance was AMAZING!! I did like the second set better... she rocked the house. "Possession" is one of my all time favorite songs and she did an amazing version of it. She is a truly talented and a great performer. Sarah has the most beautiful voice. I hope she returns to New Orleans for future tours as it would be a must do.

Sarah is a beautiful, humble, incredibly talented woman. How many artist bring a sofa from home and invite member of the audience to join her on-stage? The stories she told that led her to write each song were very endearing and you could tell she was passionate about each and every song she performed. From "In the Arms of an Angel" to "Building a Mystery" to a very nice mix of new songs, she was 150% total entertainment. And, with a picnic, bottle of wine, and candles glowing, it was a perfect concert!

I Will Remember Her, and this very intimate and poignant performance forever. This was the 3rd time I had the privilege of seeing Sarah perform live and I'm always amazed at how beautiful her voice and presence is on stage. She is so captivating and talented. She connected with Saturday night's audience by having a box outside in the lobby for audience members to submit a question to her. While neither my wife, daughter or my questions made the show, it was delightful to see her answer some often kwirky but sometimes tough, personal questions. This added a new dimension to the performance and gave you the sense that you were sitting in a small lounge and could actually reach out and touch this performer at any time. That's how effective this was in bringing her audience closer and making the show feel like it was truly meant for everyone who attended to be part of. The show lasted nearly 3 hours with a 20 minute intermission. Sarah covered a great span of her career, even including "Path of Thorns (Terms)" from her second album. In addition to her own, well rounded material, she incorporated band members Butterfly Boucher and Melissa McClelland (who unfortunately couldn't sing that night due to a cold) to perform some of their own material at various points in the show. This ensured the audience would experience the great music they had to offer rather than make them an opening act that half the audience would most likely have missed. Although MClelland couldn't sing that night, she played guitar and we were all treated to Sarah filling in on vocals for two songs that Melissa would have performed as a duet with her husband, Luke Doucet, a long time member of Sarah's band. There was even an improv excerpt from the song "Dirty Little Secret" that Sarah sang which was not in the set list and Sarah required the audience to help her remember the lyrics. This came from the Q&A portion which also prompted her to sing two lullabies that she sings to her daughter's at night. Both of those were not intended to be in the set list. To sum it up, she is as pretty on the outside as she is on the inside which is demonstrated through a beautiful and sexy voice. To see her live and in person is something everyone should do at least once. I was very pleased with the seats we had and how memorable that evening was.

Great show! Took my grandaughter and we loved the entire 3 hours. The only downfall was all the late arrivals, and people being seated after the show began. It's very distracting and management should do something to curtail the interruptions. It's not fair to those of us who pay good money for tickets and get seated on time. Sarah was amazing - great time - good music and would absolutely see her again!

What an awesome show Sarah McLachlan put on last night at the Orpheum! I've never seen her before in concert, and I was so impressed with her as an artist, humanitarian and seemingly as just an genuine, fun, personable and charming lady! Her format, as she talked about at the opening of her show, was to highlight a couple of her backup singers/guitar players as part of her show in lieu of having an opening act. VERY COOL! Selfless! Impressed! They were Butterfly Boucher, 31-yr.-old Aussie, and Melissa McClelland, 31-yr.-old Canadian, and they were great singers, rockers, lyricists in their own right. Also Lilith artists. While she sang many songs from her current album "Laws of Illusion," she mixed in a few of her older tracks like "World on Fire, " "Fallen," "Possession," "Surrender," "Building a Mystery," "Adia," and "Angel" to name a few. Also, if you submitted a question on paper that went into a hat, she answered random questions from the audience throughout the show. To me, it showed her desire for her audience to know her and gave opportunities for her to share things about her, like her start into the music business at the age of 17, fun things she does with her two, young daughters, and whether or not she plans to produce any more purely instrumental tracks. To that, she humorously and honestly said that the previous instrumental tracks were ones she just couldn't find lyrics to match. Sarah's show was a full 2 hours, 45 min., and she never took a break while her colleagues played and sang their songs. In fact, she sang background vocals and played either guitar or piano. Happy to share the stage and let them shine! Also, Sarah and Melissa both talked about their passion and involvement with World Vision and how it's affected their lives. If we felt compelled to sponsor a child last night, we got a free cd of theirs. My family has been supporting World Vision for years and can attest to what a great organization it is! To cap this show: genuine, from the heart, great artistry, great music, lyrics, fun, laughter... I think I can say that I enjoyed this concert, these women artists, more than any show I've seen in a long time... What can I say? Sarah ROCKS!

This was the best concert experience I've ever been a part of. I love the small venue feeling. Sarah was outstanding. She played all the good songs. Her two guests were both very charming as well. 2 song encore, and she took questions from the audience, that we were able to submit prior to the show. It was very fun, and worth the price of the tickets.

Simply that.... best concert ever! Ideal venue for such amazing artists. Sarah McLachlan, Butterfly Boucher, and Melissa McClelland gave tremendous performances. Each had the opportunity to be in the spotlight as well as provide impeccable back-up for the others. Melissa was new to me, but I quickly became a fan. Had not seen Butterfly since she opened for Sarah several years ago, but she rocks! And Sarah... she has the voice of an angel.

Uptown Theatre was so intimate and beautiful and really made for a wonderful venue for Sarah. Though, Sarah could play in an alley and it would still be amazing.. Yet again, Sarah gave a remarkable show. I am truly amazing by her beauty and talent and the people she surrounds herself with are extremely up to par. The talent was overwhelming, the continuity was seamless, Butterfly and Melissa are very genuine and entertaining and truly incredible artists respectively. Sarah could not have chosen any other two women better than Butterfly and Melissa, to be a part of this journey. Sarah graciously answered our questions intermittently through out the show, which felt more casual and intimate, like we were all friends getting to know each other. I had the best seats I have ever had, which was complete luck considering how hard it is to get the exact seats you want... And even though my question, asking if I could sing Possession with her, was not chosen..LOL....I had the best time ever and this was the fifth time I have seen her and second time I saw the Sarah & Friends Show.

I enjoyed this concert a lot. This is by far, the most genuine and not-so-scripted concert I've been to. There are no front acts. Butteryfly Boucher and Melissa (forgot the last name!) were on stage with Sarah the whole time and they took turns singing on the center stage.

I didn't know what to expect from this show. Was there going to be people coming and going from the stage after playing their songs? How many songs of Sarah's was I going to hear? First 3 songs were Sarah's and then two from the female basist, then three from Sarah and 3 from another female, a guitarist. From then on it was Sarah. Great band, long show,2-1/2 hrs with an intermission.... Sarah always puts on a very personal show, sharing stories, answering questions from the audience. She played all her hits and a few new ones. I can't wait for her new album to come out. I came away from the show singing in the streets, flying high.

It was a great show with all her hits and a few new songs from the new album. The show had in a close intimate atmosphere format. There were interactions with the audiences and a Q&A session. There is no opening act. I liked how Sarah incorporated the opening acts in her performance. Sarah did backing vocals and played piano for the opening acts. It was a wonderful show.

I've been a Sarah McLachlan fan for years, and have enjoyed Butterfly Boucher since seeing her open for Sarah several years ago at the Rose Garden in Portland. Melissa McClelland was a wonderful surprise and I bought her cd at the concert, and Passenger 24 on iTunes the next day. I am 50 and I brought 2 of my daughters, ages 16 and 30, and we all had an enjoyable, memorable time. I liked the more intimate venue that is the Schnitzer, and Sarah's question and answer time with the audience was very entertaining and added to the perception that we were among friends. We especially enjoyed how the 3 women were all on stage together performing each others' songs rather than appearing as 3 distinct acts. It made the concert more seamless. As usual, the song list was very generous!! (but I did miss Fear)

I have seen Sarah McLachlan each time she comes to the NY area and she never disappoints. She has an amazing voice & speaks to her audience and even asks for questions to be asked during her show. Her friends Luke and his wife Melissa sang a duet as well as Butterfly all were great as well. Sarah looked and sounded great as always. I just hope 1 day I can get a picture with her as well as her autograph. Looking forward to her writing for her next Cd and next tour as well.
