Broken Bells
Broken Bells' cinematic left-field pop is the result of a meeting of great musical minds -- multi-instrumentalist/producer Danger Mouse and Shins' guitarist/singer James Mercer have pooled their talents to create one of the most strikingly original projects in contemporary indie rock, selling over 400,000 copies of their lushly melancholic 2010 self-titled debut album. In 2013, the duo released "Holding on for Life," the lead single from their 2014 sophomore album After the Disco, which they've been previewing for fans on a series of critically-acclaimed 2013 live concerts. After meeting in 2004 at Denmark's Roskilde Festival, the duo collaborated on the track "Insane Lullaby" before deciding to make their creative partnership more permanent as Broken Bells. Holing up in Danger Mouse's LA home studio in 2008, they recorded "The High Road" and "The Ghost Inside," tracks which would ultimately become singles from their 2010 debut.
