Delbert McClinton

Went to the show with my hubby who had really never listened to Delbert...we were both so impressed by the energy that he still has at age 76! Rocked the crowd! His band is incredible!

Always a good time. It's hard to keep everyone in their seat.

Delbert's voice has never sounded better, which is remarkable at his age. He wandered all over the stage, interacting with the audience and his band-mates, and gave outstanding, soulful performances of two hours worth of great blues and RnB songs. His band consisted of two guitarists (who alternated leads), a solid bass and drummer, a keyboard wizard, and a tenor sax and trumpet that sounded like a full horn section. I really couldn't have asked for more (except for Sandy Beaches, which he didn't do!).

Once upon a time a long time ago a family went to see Delbert McClinton play. The parents were lovers of his music. Their lovely little four year old daughter went to the stage and went to see Delbert. Last night at the show that same young lady, with perfect timing in the song danced on to the stage to see Delbert. She was part of a large group of ticket holders. Nearly 20 seats held by her friends and family. We all have our Delbert stories and have lived, cried, laughed and loved to his music. The young lady was not allowed back in to see the rest of the show. We lost three of our party to her choice to replay history. We loved the music.......Kelly Hunt is powerful. Delbert gave his all as usual. Not one of our group will ever forget the evening of friends, stories, love and laughter. May be that the child shouldn't have wandered onto the stage......may be......yet history will stand in a small group of family and friends.......Delbert McClinton and his deep rooted fans are tightly knit. His music touches our lives.....stirs the life in all of us. Yes, we recommend the event. We also recomment mercy.......mercy.....for the fan of Delbert McClinton in all of us. We will never forget!

Delbert showed that he still has it. The band was tight and the place rocked with folks dancin` in the aisles! Good `ol rock `n` roll Americana style!!! Can`t wait until Delbert`s back in KC.

Delbert McClinton's show was so much fun. He is great to see in concert.

This was one of the better concerts I have been to. The intiment setting of the Uptown Theater was one of the better venues. Comming on stage to sing with Kelly Hunt was a plus. and then Kelly Hunt comming on stage to sing with Delbert was well worth the money. Delbert did a lot of new stuff as well as old vavorites.

Excellent show! The musicians were great! New blues, old, Delta, funk. The ENTIRE show was great!

His shows get better with age. Can't wait for the next one. Moving over to Sony Hall was fantastic. The sound system is great. The Hall took care of everyone seating wise because we all had seat locations from B.B. Kings.

Loved seeing Delbert. He is still amazing! ✅ for my bucket list. I ve been waiting a long time to see him.

Can we have a non-drunk section? Low class, ignorant drunks ruined our event with their foul mouths, and constantly crawling over us. They went so far as to tell us we shouldn t get aisle seats next time. Really?! Spoiled what could have been a great night. Too bad, that s probably the last time we ll see Delbert. I won t return to that facility. The only future live music I plan to attend will be at the Alys Stephens Center in Birmingham. Higher class clientele.

I have seen Delbert 19 times and this venue was definitely not my fave for his kind of music. I am used to everyone getting to stand and never stay sitted. Finally at the end people were able to stand up, mostly at their seat. I prefer seeing Delbert at an outdoor venue. As far as his performance, it was GREAT!!!! Can t wait to see him again!!!

I have been a long time fan of Delbert McClendon. I was really looking forward to this show, however, it was too loud. I had to cover my ears to understand the words of the songs. The opening band was not so loud that you could not understand the words being sung. Thanks Delbert for making it possible for me to see you again but please lower the volume.

Delbert McClinton always performs perfectly! Great show, though the Performing Arts Center leaves little room to enjoy dancing: something Delbert s shows always include! Seats are very closely packed with little legroom. Nice venue otherwise. Acoustics are good and is a pleasant place to go - just wish seating was more comfortable.

He was great and his band mates were outstanding. Delbert is one of best live shows to see. Great selection of songs and all the band members were engaged. Great show.

Delbert is still on top of his game. His band is phenomenal, especially Dana on sax. Almost broke out into a party by the end! Pros: Bought 3 cds while leaving. :) Con: Ran out of my size in t-shirts before I got one. :/

Delbert always puts on a great show. We weren't crazy about the opening act. I see now why some people don't arrive until the main featured performer is due.

What a night! Daryl Davis started the show with his boogie woogie and blues with awesome personality getting us all into the mood. Then Delbert and his Self Made Men came on to perform for at least two hours. Though they did not include my favorite tune "Down Into Mexico", they did sing "Rosy" off the new CD "Prick of the Litter". What a surprise when Delbert took his break that Steve Bassett returned to to rock us with at least two songs (miss you Steve!). But the highlight of the night was keyboardist Kevin McKendree's son Yates at just 16 now (I swear I saw him with his dad, and Delbert on "Imus In The Morning" when he was 13) who blew the room away when he left the organ to get the crowd amazed with his guitar playing. The high light for me was when I asked Bob Britt to take a CD back to Delbert to sign it for a friend of mine who was going to celebrate the same birthday as Delbert (and he did indeed sign it!). To quote a Delbert McClinton song - we had a "real good time"!

Another lites-out evening with Delbert & band...never,ever disappointed. It was birthday-eve for Delbert...BUT...he & the band turned the stage over to 16 yr old Yates McKendree.He's the son of Delbert's keyboard whiz Kevin McKendree. The young man fired up the crowd displaying his talent on keyboards and guitar...amazing! He could sub for his proud poppa any show-that's how good he is already.It was an extra special nite.Thanks,Delbert,for giving us a taste of the next emerging talent in your band,

The opening band was terrible and that is the first time this happened but Delbert as always was worth the wait. He is an amazing performer and I will go and see him again!!!

Delbert and his band put on a good show. The opening act was poor, if they left the leaD singer at home it would've been fine as all are accomplished musicians. Delbert's show was energetic and full of his hits and other really good songs. He highlights the artists in his band as well. If you like blues and good storytelling, go see Delbert. Just wish it was at another venue. I struggle when good artists play this venue because the seating here is very tight.

Delbert has assembled his best band ever, including his keyboardist, Kevin. A huge treat was that Kevin's 16 year old son played with the band that night, and he is nothing short of a prodigy! Delbert can still belt out a song, but he featured the band for about 1/3 of the show, and it was incredible. They performed two full hours with no break, and most of the songs were unfamiliar, but great. We were only slightly disappointed that he didn't sing a lot of our old favorites. The warm-up band was the worst we've ever seen (I've heard better in people's basements), but all was forgotten when Delbert and his band hit the stage.

The man has a fear of flying so we were very glad to be able to see him in New York! What a performance what a band!

It was ok. He belted out one song after another and took a break and came back for more. But with an opening act (Sam Lewis, who was quite good), and, essentially, an Intermission by Mr. McClinton, makes for a long show. Too long for me.

This wasn't a show, it was a party. Delbert was great and had a superb back up band. All in all an evening well spent

The DM show at Variety Playhouse was awesome. Dana Robbins is one of the best sax players i have heard in a long time. Delbert and her stole the show! Keep up the great work VP!

The Variety Playhouse was packed Friday night to see Delbert McClinton! Alyssa, his opening act, did a great job of wowing the crowd. Delbert came on with his band and had everyone moving to the music and signing along. The horn section was outstanding! It was a wonderful night thanks to the great performances!

Delbert was great. He always is. His vocals are kicka--!! Also, the band was so good. Sax, Keys, Guitar etc.

What can I say about a legend like Delbert McClinton? The show was just incredible. His music is some of the best ever made and Delbert continues to deliver his sound with great enthusiasm. power and integrity. We just loved it !

Marcia Ball was the opening act. She's so comfortable with her music and put on a great show. Loved her. Delbert and his band were amazing. The saxophone player, Dana Robbins, was such a highlight. The band performed some old songs as well as cuts from his new album. One song after another - never a dull moment. The Wilbur Theatre was a great venue to see this show. We travelled 3 hours from Maine to get there, spent the night, and it was so worth the trip. Always said once I saw him I could cross that off my bucket list, but no, I would go again, so it's still on there!

Delbert, as always, was great. I come to hear him every time he comes to town. Love his band, music, and especially his voice and style of singing.

First of all, The whole Blues, Brews & Barbecue experience was outstanding. Each of the bands were very good, as was the food and atmosphere. Little Feat put on an excellent performance. Topped off by Delbert McClinton gteat songs as only he can do! After the show, i got to get on stage and get a picture with him. He was very cool.

We've seen Delbert and company 4 times over the last 9 years - Reno, Nevada (New Year's Eve Show), Cerritos Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, The Railhead at Boulder Station Las Vegas and his most recent show at the Hard Rock Biloxi, MS -- we flew out from Southern California to see it! Vegas in August 2011 and Biloxi August 2012 were his best. I really miss Rob McNelly on guitar but the entire band still rocks it! Would love to do his final blues cruise in January 2013 if it's not already sold out. I have a feeling he's planning to hang it up soon so catch him when you can ... as much as you can now!

I always look forward to going to Delbert's concerts. He's one of my favorite recording artists and being a singer/songwriter myself, which I do some of his songs, I so appreciate his talent. Also, the band was great. ! Very tight! My only suggestion is to have reserved seating.

I have seen him over a 40 yr. period in many concert venues. But not in a few years. He was everything and more from all the shows I've ever seen. He looked great, sang many of his old favorites. . .and he had a band that was unbelievable. Everyone a muscian in their own right. . .speakers a little too loud for his music. But he sounded great. . . .It was like old times with Delbert. . . .

Opening act a local band called Barrellhouse,was great, Delbert was flat, left stage several times and let other play, short show,no encore, Local band put on better show than he did.

I've "Never Been Rocked Enough" until now!!! LOL! Delbert was awesome and even took time for pictures when leaving the theater! The band was GREAT! The girl on the sax was killer as was the new keyboard player. Gary Nicholson on guitar was spectacular too! A wonderful night and venue!

me & my boyfriend Jeff went and seen delbert at the hardrock on 8/19/11 at was a wonderful show.i would like to see him more in the south like miss. and la.where i am from...Donot forget the cruise coming up in jan,2012.me and jeff is planning on to go with them on the cruise.i am looking at the date.(it can;t get here quick enough ) love you delbert !!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to Delberts show in Biloxi at the Hard Rock. and it was a SPECTACULAR show! Delbert never took a break and performed only as Delbert could! What a SUPERB show! Thanks so much Delbert! We are going to the Jacksonville, Florida show on September 10th, and our only request is if you (Delbert} could PLEASE sing "I had a real good time" as my husband, Colonel George M. Carroll {retired} wants this song sung at his funeral. Only one line has to be changed "there's a whole lot of opportunity for a man who flies the blue" as my husband is a pilot. Zany fun as always. He was in top form. The band was excellent. But why did Delbert decide not to sit out in the lobby after the show to kibbitz with his fans? VERY DISAPPOINTING! Birchmere rocks as always!

I am apart of the younger crowd, the reason I am aware of Delbert is because he is my dad's favorite singer. Me and my best friend saw Delbert at the Birchmere. The venue is small and perfect. Not a bad seat in the house . Delbert was great as expected. The only thing I was dissapointed with was he apparently forgot his harmonica at the last gig, therefore I didn't get to hear him play it at all which is one of my favorite things about his music!! Definitely recommend him to anyone. The band before him was really good also!

Great show, was a little disappointed he didn't play more of his old hits. but was great nonetheless.

concert was good , was not long enough, by 5 till 10 it was over did not get to here some of his bigger hits. it was like he was getting fired up to do them as a encore but every one got up tp leave before he came back out.

It appeared a good time was had by all. An excellent show to if you have an opportunity.

Delbert should be well-known to ALL music lovers! I have attended many of his concerts and have enjoyed every one. Early in this concert, his mike needed to be turned up..once that was done, all was great. He is in good voice, has strong stage presence and ALWAYS has teriffic players in his band !! He presented a mix of newer tunes and his celebrated classics, the audience was dancing in the aisles ! Standing ovations brought an outstanding encore set..A wonderful concert !

Really enjoyed the show. At 48 years of age I was the youngest at the show however. A much older crowd, but very much wilder then some other shows I've been too with younger crowds. I grew up listening to this music and we had a great time at a great venue.

Delbert was animated, having a great time, got the crowd on their feet! Loud and wonderful. Best Delbert concert ever, and I've seen more than 20. Good venue.

Delbert was fabulous and really worked the crowd up. The only problem that we had was the venue (Hoyt Sherman Place). There's not any room to get up and dance other than at your seat on you can block an isle. Would love to see him again next time he comes to town but pick a different venue like, Val-Air Ballroom or Wooley's.

Very very good show. Delbert will help you forget all your problems! I would go again tomorrow!!!

First time at Sony Hall, used to go to see Delbert at BB KIngs. Beautiful venue but did not think much of the menu. Ate dinner before the show at Becco. Right down the street. Delbert and his band were fabulous as always.

I'd been a Delbert McClinton fan merely through his recordings, but had never seen him live before, merely due to extenuating circumstances along the way. But I was truly amazed and thoroughly entertained. The venue was a perfect substitute for BB King's on 42nd, and would be pleased if it became a permanent replacement (although we had some minor problems about the food and prices). The opening act was good, a 3-piece blues-based band out of England. Delbert and his band was truly amazing. They were on stage for nearly a good solid 2-hours and every minute was a musical sensation. Delbert was a delight, playing ringleader to his 8-piece band. Every musician was outstanding. And the sound system really brought it to life. What else can I say? had a great time!

Wow! We saw Delbert and his band in Knoxville December 09 - Bijou Theatre great venue! The 1 1/2 hour drive, for us, was worth it! From the first song to the last, Delbert was in charge, and his band - so very tight and individually skilled - were with him 100%! The place was rockin, and that happens when the music is right - Delbert and band, thank you ALL for a great time! Bottom line, go see these folks - and by the way, if you like their CD's you will be very happy to have seen the "live" versions of songs they play! fm, Calhoun, Tennessee

had a great time my only complaint was that big speaker boxes blocked my view to part of the stage. other than that had a great time.

I've been following Delbert since the 80s & been blessed to see many,many great shows. BUT...the ol' Texas bluesman saved his best show ever for his birthday this year.Everybody & everything was spot on.So I offered Delbert a suggestion.Keep the age number constant but have MORE birthday bashes during the year.His response was it was a night when everybody was in a jovial mood & playin' their butts off.Indeed!!! If you decided not to make this show..you messed up big time.Better think twice if you want to skip seeing him.The band is back full force & has James Pennybaker added on second guitar. It won't get any better than this.

I have seen Delbert McClinton several times over the years. He always has a great show and the best band! One of the original roadhouse rockers! You can't miss with Delbert in your evening's line up.

Perhaps it's the floor set up at The Wilbur Theater: small cocktail tables & chairs. Servers to bring drinks to your table. Half Club/Half theater. It makes for a more intimate concert as well as great for chair dancing. Delbert & the band seemed to enjoy the set up as well. And the band. The Band! Wailing sax! Trumpet! 3 guitars! Keyboard, drums. oh so tight. Great time!

He's still got it; and got it all. His setlist of old and new was a good representation of past hits and present endeavors. His backup band stands out. From brass section to keyboardist, he always has the best talent surrounding him.

He's a man of few words but lots of music. His band reflects his ability to put a good song together and make it work, make it soar, make it rock! His man on keyboards played like he had four hands - amazing! His lady sax player, Dana, could give Clarence Carter lessons. His three guitarists covered the bases: blues, rock, soul and country without missing a beat. His drummer was the perfect addition. Oh, yeah, and Delbert on vocals. Great night and great performance. Don't miss it - you love his Grammy nominated music, well there's a new album coming out in January and it's going to be awesome too.

Delbert is a force of nature! Nobody's got a tighter band, and nb0dy has a more unique voice. Roadhouse blues from the best in the business!

Delbert is a master of his craft, always delivering his best. His performance, his musicians, song selection guarantees a good night for everybody who's a fan of his music. Only wish he would come around the Boston area more often.

Delbert has a strong following; the show was sold out from the first day tickets went on sale. His performance was awesome! Every member of his band was excellent in their own right. Loved the keyboards and the horns! By the end of the show everyone was on their feet and rockin' out!

Good concert best part was his awesome backup band. They were phenomenal!

The venue was great, Delbert McClinton sounded and looked fantastic, my only complaint is that the show was so short. We were expecting a two hour show, but it was over after roughly an hour and 20 minutes. We were also disappointed that he did not perform many of his popular hits, but more new material that no one really knew. We would definitely go to this venue again, and see him again, but that is our input on the content. Our seats were good, but we would've paid more for the seats upfront. When I went to purchase the seats, they said these were the best available. That was puzzling to us.

I have seen him several times and he gets better with age. Awesome show.

Love this venue which has a wonderful sound system and stage setup that puts you up close and personal. The musicians were excellent and provided their own entertainment. Delbert did not disappoint with his trademark blues with a touch of soul.

Nearing 75 years old but you could not tell it. Played about 90 minutes with a small break (two songs) and stood the whole time. Band was tight. Venue was first class, too.

Great show with a great band. The sax and horn guys were great as was Delbert. I have been wanting to see him for a long time . Worth the wait.

Delbert was Awesome as always! This was our 1st visit to IP in Biloxi and it is an outstanding venue.

At the comfortable age of 75, Delbert still has what it takes to entertain music lovers of all ages. Our good friends Bob and Christine accompanied us to hear Delbert at the IP Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi this past weekend. They had not experienced Delbert in a live venue before, and after the concert they and we had nothing but praise for him and his accompanying musicians.

Band was very good as well. He is doing well considering his age.

Started on time, took short break but his band kept playing. 1st time to see him but have listened to him for many many years. Aging but so am I. Would go again.

After listening to Delberts music for a long time, we got a chance to see him live during our vacation trip from Sweden to USA. The Birchmere was a different venue from what we have been to before. It was the perfect place for a concert of this kind. We had the best seats in the house, thanks to very nice people we had met before, when we waited to get the seat tickets (Thank You). Delbert seemed to be in a very good mood and was singing fabulously. The band was tight and very good, both as a group and the individual instrumentalists. Sound was also perfect. We enjoyed two hours of songs we knew and liked, and I was sitting with a smile on my face through the whole time. This was a perfect music evening to be remembered a long long time. Thank you Delbert and the band.

This is the first time I've heard McClinton in decades, so I didn't know if he still had it in him. But he's performing better than ever. He is still one of the great Texas blues men, who inspired a generation of blues and rock performers. He performed a number of his standards, plus some new material. My date, who was unfamiliar with him, became a new "convert."

You never know what you've got 'til it's gone. With Bob Britt & Dana Robbins absent & on the recovery road,it was obvious some of the spark in the band was missing. Gary & James did well on guitar.Kevin was missing on keyboards...that hurt,too.,as was the usual sound man. A good show,but not a great show.Maybe I'm spoiled from hearing all the regulars. I'll attend two more shows this year. Here's hoping the ol' gang is back together by then.

Delbert was great, as always. Amy Black who opened for him was very good as well. The Birchmere staff were polite and friendly, the servers were quick and attentive, the buffalo wing sauce is killer. A great evening overall.

I haven't seen a band that tight in a long time. They knew each other well. The keyboard player was exceptional

I love his music but this appearance was an insult. His clothes were obviously slept in. He was dazed. He seemed to be in the tail end of a long bender with no change of clothes. Stumbled through the first few lyrics. An insult from the second he stepped on the stage. Opening act was Excellent!

It was a good show and the intro entertainer was enjoyable. First ever seeing Delbert McClinton in person after listening to his music for years. Loved the smaller theater. Such talented musicians!

Concert ran an hour and a half with a great band and nice selection of tunes by Delbert. Wide variety of genres and musicianship displayed. Wonderful show.
