I had a wonderful time at both shows. The Wharf Rat Meetings were GRATE. John Mayer was GRATE but I still miss Jerry. Can't wait for the next show. Wish I could hit the road as some friends do to see other shows but am kinda limited to Nor-Cal for now. One of these days. Thanks for a REAL GRATE time.

I have to remember that row 75 is really high up at this Stadium, but other then the highth issue, the concert was great. The sun set over us and the music played. The wind felt super good in our seats. It was an awesome time

After just checking out the Dead and Company show at MSG on 11/1 I can honestly say that I was disappointed with the show. The pace of the show was very slow and songs like "Shakedown Street" had no pulse to it. It seems like Bobby Wier and the old Dudes like Hart and Kruetsman can't keep up with the young guys such as Mayer and Anastasio and slow down the tempo to a complete halt. The show could have been so much better is Mayer was allowed to sing more of the Jerry's songs instead of Weir having to step in. Overall the show was good but not great. It was not worth They really need to pick up the pace of the show or the should just hang it up. Don't act old if you don't want to be labeled old Weir.

I was very disappointed by the Dead and Company in Albany NY. I literally had to fight to stay awake. They went off on these really long jam sessions, they took a hour break in between sets. The best thing was the encore because they played a couple of their great songs or a song at all, not just a 25 minute jam.

Hands down, this was one of the closest performances to an actual grateful dead show I have seen (since Jerry passed). John Mayer was given a lot of creative space and allowed to play full, melodic leads vs making sounds (which has been fairly typical for many of the post Jerry incarnations). The jams were meaningful and complimented the songs (like the old days ie. The playin' sounded like a playin' jam, Jed sounded like Jed, slipknot sounded like slipknot, etc), and often built in intensity and led to amazing peaks (sometimes unexpectedly) I cannot stress how melodic and in sync, this lineup is, exploring the songs in a way I have not experienced in many years. Like any show, not every moment was perfect (has it ever been?), but the frequency of sweet moments and an absolutely amazing crowd vibe made this a truly memorable show for me (brought tears of joy to my eyes). John Mayer's playing complimented the music beautifully and was getting Bobby fired up as the songs would build, driving the keys the band would transition into. Oteil sounded like he had played with the boys for years (no surprise there-I've been a big ARU fan for 20+ yrs) and really helped bring the jams to those beautiful and dark places we all adore (check out that night's help-slip-frank as an example). The interplay between oteil and Mayer during some of these moments were incredible. Billy and Mickey kept it all together as only they can truly do (billy was smiling!). Chimenti was as reliable as he always was (unofficially the Dead's 5th full time keyboardist). I came to the show excited to see the boys again, but had muted expectations about how the performance would be. I was pleasantly surprised to see them dig into the music with an intensity and execution I have not seen in very long time. I am now trying get tix for other shows on this tour as I am once again hooked big time!

The band was fully energized with an amazing first set. We were surprisingly happy with the guitar playing of John Mayer (was not a fan before this). He obviously put in a lot of time learning the songs and practicing the style of Garcia. In past I saw Mayer usually play a Fender Strat but here he used a PRS with triple humbuckers and coil splitters. Awesome guitar! Mayer's voice was a bit weak but he made up for it with his guitar. Bobby's voice was stronger than I'd heard it in some time. Could have done without his wardrobe change at intermission and those white "yachting" pants he was wearing. The band was pretty tight for a "new" band. Actually enjoyed the "Drums". Overall good song selection. The only real negative was the hour plus intermission. Way too long and the natives were getting real restless.

Mayer is a talented guitar player. His skills as a player transcends his pop music as he is a blistering player. Bob Weir has a relationship with Mayer as they have played together. If as one reviewer says you think it's cheesy, like him stay home. I sat next to a guy at the Dear Jerry Show at Merriweather who had a criticism about nearly every band. Wrong song, wrong band, wasn't the same. Ughhhh. Jerry is gone so it goes. If you enjoy the music you do so knowing this is not the Grateful Dead, nor is it being marketed that way. Go or stay home- the music never stops!

How sad that so many people are judging John Mayer based on a bunch of tabloid crap. I have been a loyal fan of his since 2001, and I've seen him many times. In my 40+ years of going to concerts, he is the best guitarist I've ever seen (and I've seen all of the greats!). Also, if you were to judge his personality based on the truth, rather than what you see on TMZ and other crap sources, you would know that John is one of the sweetest, funniest, kindest, most fun, and most generous people on the celebrity stage. His "ego" is vastly overrated by the tabloids. His true fans know all of this, and love him for it. And if you know him and his work well, you know that this musical pairing is perfect and a very organic thing. Why can't people be open-minded? I'm glad that so many Deadheads are staying home though... more tickets for me!!

This is the 4th year of this incarnation of the Grateful Dead and the gelling of talents and skills has crescendoed to a heightened level from where they started on Halloween @ MSG in NYC ( I saw 2 shows @ Bill Graham Civic Aud in SF in late Dec. and every tour since! ). The merging of the 3 younger players with the 3 original members has allowed for an evolution of compositions that has leaned on strong jazz, R & B, and blues influences. John s ( Mayer ) playing is like lightening out of the bottle at this point. Jeff ( Chementi ) is killing it on the keys. Oteil ( Burbridge ) is grooving smoothly & singing more and more Jerry tunes. Bobby s ( Weir ) voice is magnificent and his playing on target. Billy ( Kreutzman )& Mickey ( Hart ) continue to absolutely amaze on their drumming and percussion work. They are the molasses that binds the joys together. Collectively , the music is soulful and played by men who love all that the Dead represent. Robert Hunter s & John Perry Batlow s lyrics resonate with each listener/dancer as they touch one s soul, if allowed , right where it is most needed. Solace, comfort , hope, coping with death and loss,...are all thematic torments of the music and story-telling. I was yet again thoroughly moved and touched by my 4 shows this year.

The Dead were the Dead. I think it's safe to accept John at lead guitar at this point. He's not channeling Jerry so much as the OG Dead sound. And he's good enough to make it really work. Plus the rest of the gang are figuring out how to use John Dead's own superpowers. And Oteil is just hitting it so sweet on vocals. His bass was never better. Drums and space... what can you say? Both nights were pretty amazing. And Chimenti just gets it. Smooth. Just amazing. And the family was so warm. It was awesome seeing all of you. I made many new friends, and ran into some old ones. My only complaint is the food. The specialty stalls are pretty good. But you can't get a coke on ice. And you can't get a decent bratwurst. Once they fix that, Shoreline will be back near the top. Still an awesome venue for a Dead show. Shakedown Street was the biggest I think I've ever seen. We found some good tie dye amid many friendly chats. About all I could do was smile, smile, smile.

I m not a Deadhead, but have grown to appreciate the music over time. I m a concert goer, and try to see shows that I know display great performances. Having said that, this show was beautiful. From GD fan reviews I ve realized this was an unique show. And I feel like I felt that sentiment. I did watch the setlists ahead of time, and have done enough research to know about half of the songs ahead of time. But what I experienced was a story. A story about living life. Sometimes we need to breakdown and be embarrassed about what we do as an individual. I felt that. Sometimes we need to realize that what makes us individuals, needs to be embraced. And sometimes a person needs to build up and feel the reality of life... maybe it s loss, maybe it s yearning... maybe it s nothing. This show was a story. I felt it all. The first set had only one song that I want, Cold Rain and Snow. So I was unsure. The second set was all about psychedelia. About redefining ego. The band played a show that was beyond expectation. A show meant for remembering long after this tour/year. I m impressed by their shaping of a setlist that emotionally touches the listener. I m proud I witnessed this show, and look forward to the next... I hope they come back to Autzen, because it really was a special night. And next time will be a sold out crowd, I am certain.

Tough for the band to get it up two nights in a row, comes with age I guess... but that's no excuse for a poor setlist. Show management was "rusty" after a year off, mobs of people overwhelmed the few hard-working gatekeepers, folks were still coming in 30 minutes after a delayed show time! This was the best I've seen Dead & Company in the last two years (across four tours). They are playing together better than ever and this particular night Bob sounded great and John was really on one. Best of the four Altheas and four Sugar Magnolias I've seen and an amazing China Cat. Wisconsin's own Justin Vernon of Bon Iver guested on the last three of the first set and gave his touch to a lovely Black Muddy River. You could tell they knew they were having a night. Alpine Valley could definitely use help dealing with the crowds (gate 1 was a cluster--the others were decent), but getting to hang out with 30,000 Deadheads in an iconic location was still worth the trek.

SPAC is a perfect place for a summertime Dead concert (MSG is the perfect winter stop). Great space, good sound and a mellow crowd. 1st set was bookended by the best Jack Straw and Cassidy since they've been performing, but in between was a snoozer. They hit their groove throughout the 2nd set, opening with The Weight, into Truckin' and through an excellent, non-stop mix. I even liked Drums/Space. 5 new songs all told.

I have not seen this Band for about 2 years so I thought it was time. They put on an amazing show! The sound was the best I have heard in a long time and the venue was a great place to hear them. The one big thing I liked about the venue is the fact they do not charge to park. Reviewer Images: (click to see full-size image) Close Opening song Was this review helpful to you? This show by far exceeded by expectations. Not only was it a beautiful day and the music was awesome but the production completely blew my mind. Gone are the days of a few sails along the stage with some geometric lights. The screens were amazing and I completely felt like I was on a journey a "trip" if you will. I brought my niece and her boyfriend. There is no way I could have prepared them for what we were about to see and hear! My husband said it best indescribable beauty.

Now I hear live nation is doing a 2/1 at citi field but I haven t gotten an email to do this, why not ?

When the Dead start a show with The Other One and finish with Casey Jones...what more needs to be said... Deer Creek (old name but best name) always a great venue...Shakedown Street in parking lot was fun ... no authorities wandering around to put a damper on the fun....

The venue had some really nice updates. There is an entire section of new added bathroom. I noticed there were also a lot more food and drink options. I do believe that the food and drinks are way over priced. However, Dead & Company was so good! This was my first time at a Dead event and I will continue to go to the shows when they are in the area!

WOW!!! The set list was off the charts!!! My twin sister flew in from Florida for the show and we had not been to a show since 95! We shook a tail feather! "He's Gone" was off the charts. Very special song between my twin and I and we couldn't believe that we got a lot of the songs that we were hoping to hear! We loved how Dead and Company kept teasing us with a few cords from "China Cat Sunflower!!!!" We would look at each other with our eyes popped out of our heads every time they teased us with it!! That's what is so great about their shows! You never know when they will steal your face right off your head!!!! Thank you Dead and Company <3

We lost more then half 2nd set. I've seen Dead&Company every show in Philly & Camden. I am a true Dead Head with Jerry and Now Bobby and John. It really sucked not seeing whole show. Hope when they come back they will throw in a few more songs for us Saturday night troopers.

The show was going great until the band took a long break ahead of what event staff should have seen coming, a cold front and thunder storm. They stopped playing a few minutes into the second set and never came back out. We waited on the lawn in the storm for almost 40 minutes in a downpour until they announced the show was over early. They could have fit the second set in if they planned accordingly.

Regardless of the things out of our control- the weather; the show was amazing!!!! Nothing makes me happier than seeing Bobby, Mickey, Bill, Otiel, Chris, and my future husband John Mayer, jam and soothe my soul with their musical genius!

Sorry fellas- this was not the best show and I hope the tour improves. I ve been following the Dead in one form or another since 1968; this is the first time I have not seen them do an encore. Shakedown rocked but meh first set. Second set some amazing guitar by Mayer and Oteil as always. Unfortunately I won t have the opportunity to see another show on this run to compare. Knowing these guys they will get into their summer rhythms .

Let s face it - first show of the tour is going to have it s technical challenges and Weir s singing voice comes and goes as expected. There were improvisational branches that led to dead ends and some that were pure genius. Any way you slice it the fusion of jazz, rock, psychedelic anthems, and experimentation never leave you disappointed at the concerts end except we selfishly want more. Dance, dance, dance.
