Bought tickets for the show in Chicago at the Chicago theater. Seats were like advertised and the show was a true 5 star. You can't go to a Blackbird production show without see the artistry of Jamey Johnson and Warren Haynes. The whole band was on it!

From the moment I walked into the spectacularly beautiful Saenger Theater, it was hands down the best show I saw all of Jazz Fest weekend - and that says A LOT, considering how much amazing talent at that fest. But, Warren Haynes and the band, wow, they played The Last Waltz with precision and passion - it was truly one of the best concerts I've ever experienced.

40 years on, a re-creation of one of the most memorable nights in music resulted in another one. Warren Haynes and Don Was assembled a tight and powerful core band including Michael McDonald on piano (channeling Richard Manuel), Jamey Johnson on acoustic guitar (channeling Levon Helm) and John Medeski on organ and other keys (channeling Garth Hudson). Warren handled the Rick Danko vocals and Robbie Robertson guitar parts brilliantly. Terrence Houston drove the band from behind the drums and a stellar New Orleans horn section delivered Allen Toussaint's charts with gusto. The guests were well suited to their featured parts, especially Dave Malone, Cyril Neville, Lukas Nelson, George Porter Jr., and original Waltzer Bob Margolin, who embodied the spirit of his late bandleader Muddy Waters.

My last music show at the Saenger. Three shows and about $1,500 in tickets past 6 mos. Won't be back. Had Orchestra Left seats this time and the mix started off OK. Not great but OK. Third song they increased the level of kick drum and sub woofers to the point that the mix turned to mud, and they kept it there til almost the end of the show, when there was a slight improvement. Had a friend sitting near the board and he said it was bad there also. No excuse in such a beautiful venue. For the Nevillization show last yr I was Floor Left almost to balcony and mix was equally bad. Asked a well known music critic sitting in my row what he thought and he concurred. Back to last Sat (Last Waltz) the usher stationed at the right front of the theatre initially refused to clear the aisle and let 50-60 people jam the aisle where they were yelling and talking throughout the performance. Enough of us complained that he then tried to do his job but too late. They pretty much ruined the last half of the show for myself and my party.

This was an epic moment of talented musicians coming together to pay tribute to The Bands's Last Waltz. The show was incredible. There were 4 brass players 2 keyboards. 3-5 guitar players, lots of singers and an incredible drummer. The Saenger Theater is a beautifully renovated and decorated Theater in a Greek theme.

I very much enjoyed the concert; didn't realize so many people here in Denver were fans of the "The Last Waltz" album and the movie. However, did not enjoy the opening act; had trouble understanding the lyrics; sounded like the same music playing over and over, going on what seemed like forever. ONE DISAPPOINTMENT --- was very much looking forward to hearing the "Long Black Veil" which was not played. Long live The Band --- Garth, Richard, Levon, Rick and Robbie..

When I bought tickets to this venue, i thought it was just a tribute to the Band's last waltz. That is why we got tickets. It was actually a benefit for Music in Common, Inc. Which is a non profit organization of members who use music to bring peace and harmony throughout the world. They showed us a video of some of the things they do to make the world a better place to live by educating young people on living in harmony. The show featured the Rev Tor Band and friends. They sang 23 somgs and followed the last waltz format. Many different singers came up on the stage. The show was excellent.

Most of the show was stellar... That being said, I don't know what was up with Dr. John. He does seem to start songs out of tune at first and then tunes in and I see this as a kind of niche. However, the first song he played on he did the entire thing out of tune and Warren and the guys are looking at each other and thinking when is he going to pull out of this... oh he's not... well how do we play along... VERY awkward. The next song he started out of tune and then hit his stride and played fantastic. So when he comes out for the encore, again he starts playing out of tune and singing something else? Warren had his mic cut. It is a shame to see a great player embarrass himself that way... I'd rather just remember him for the good times. Cyril Neville looked like he was just phoning in his performance as well and we never got to see Garth Hudson?

This was a great concert. The musicians were diligent in replicating a great concert. It was fantastic to see and hear the skills of Garth Hudson who I hadn't see play live since Wembley Stadium, London 1974. I would have liked to have heard Coyote played but that was my only negative. I know they had so much to play and they did, going on for 3.5 hours. The Theater was good but cold. I had great visibility but I think that some of the seating on the sides was unlikely to give a great view. I would eat before going to the concert. The MGM Casino was very nice but the food was expensive.

This was our first visit to the new MGM National Harbor venue and it was a wonderful, smaller venue to see this concert. From the opening to the encore, these musicians played this setlist from history with heart and soul. They had a couple of original members of the Last Waltz perform as special guests, along with the Nevilles. What a night - they played until almost midnight with one intermission! The crowd was on their feet most of the evening - well worth every penny spent!

Enjoyed the show thoroughly at the new MGM casino facility. Music was not to loud and the stage was set up so that all of the band could be viewed from about anywhere within the facility. A great mix/variety of music. The ushers could have been a little more sensitive to the drinking and dancing in the walkways, as it became a little distractive near the end of the concert, especially for those who wanted to watch the musicians......and did not want to 'party'. Crowd control could have been just a little better.

Went to see this, on a whim, because it was the only thing really going on in Detroit the night I was there. I wasn't disappointed, it was a great show, and the theater was gorgeous. Glad to see a few friends of The Band, that were there on that historic night. Dr. John is getting up there in age at 76, his playing is a little erratic, but his voice is as strong as ever. Warren Haynes has an amazing tone, sounds like a young Duane Allman...

The performance and the band was great. Clearly a lot of hard work went into this. One problem was the clarity of the singers. It was hard to hear them as not being loud enough but the clarity of what they were singing. One other thing why do I have to pay will call to get my tickets?

The star rating says it is for "venue rating" - The Newport, while historic, is a poor place to see a show. I give it 2 stars. I've seen Warren Haynes a few times, and he's a guitarist extraordinaire. I loved the Bank, do when I heard he was leading this tribute, I was excited. And since I'm a huge fan of Don Was (but had never seen him perform live), that was icing on the cake. Great show, with multiple guests -- including Taj Mahal, Dr. John and, yes, even Garth Hudson -- who looked like an older, bent over version of Leon Russell. Was pleased to hear many of the great tunes from that seminal concert, including Neil Young's "Helpless" and Van (the Man) Morrison's "Caravan"..

I just saw the 40th Anniversary tribute to the Band's Last waltz evening. Taj Mahal sang and played guitar, Dr. John played piano and sang. Garth Hudson played organ and piano and sang. The last two had to be led on and off stage. Yet their fingers rose to the occasion and flew across the keys. Bob Margolin who played with Muddy Waters that night was also there and a 69 flopped around on the floor as he yelled out "Who do you love?" Warren Haynes and Don Was put on the show and Jamey Johnson's voice was miraculous. The music of that time is not only enduring, but many times magical. That night it was magical again.

The music was great. The musicianship was great. Stand outs were the drummer who's name I never heard and the keyboardist - David Lewis. Of course, Don Was on Bass, was amazing as always and looked as though he was enjoying it. There was no real audience engagement and no joy from Warren Haynes and Jamey Johnson, it was as if they were playing this show for the umpteenth time on a cruise ship or something. Jamey Johnson's version of Gerorgia was plodding and his vocal was flat through most of it. Taj Mahal was fun and engaging and still great as always he was the best added edition besides Garth Hudson coming out and playing the most beautiful piano piece. He was a little lost on stage though and had to be wrangled a few times which was actually very endearing. Dr. John was good and I saw him last year in concert at the Saban with a 3/4 full theater. That was shocking to me but he was still great. Finally, there was no mention or representation of Neil Diamond or his performance at the Last Waltz OR JONI MITCHELL! I can understand that these musicians may think that Neil Diamond is lame and well...Joni Mitchell is a woman after all so.....If you are going to have special guests come out and sing songs by Van Morrison, Muddy Waters and Neil Young, why not Joni too? Overall the show was good. As I said, the musicianship was good and the songs well arranged and performed but joyless the entire night.
