Switchfoot

Switchfoot

As they enter their 17th year as a band, Switchfoot has achieved a level of success that brothers Jon and Tim Foreman and their high-school friend Chad Butler never anticipated when forming the band in San Diego in 1996. The SoCal natives have sold 5.5 million copies worldwide of their eight studio albums (including their 2003 double-platinum breakthrough The Beautiful Letdown and 2009’s Grammy Award-winning Hello Hurricane), racked up a string of Alternative radio hit singles (“Meant to Live,” “Dare You To Move,” “Mess of Me,” “The Sound (John M. Perkins’ Blues),” “Dark Horses,” and “Afterlife”), performed sold-out world tours (visiting five continents in the past year alone), raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to aid homeless kids in their community through their own Bro-Am Foundation, and earned themselves a global fan base devoted to Switchfoot’s emotionally intelligent and uplifting brand of alternative rock.

Relient K was a great opener for Switchfoot. They played with such energy that it blew the place into cheers when they hit the stage. They played for 75 minutes then Switchfoot took over. I only got to see Switchfoot for the first time and it was amazing. They played an after show, when the concert was over.

Last time I saw Switchfoot it was indoors and the sound was not the greatest. This was outdoors and they sounded outstanding. They played many of their classics, and mixed in new stuff. They had special guests on Chello, Sax and violin, so they could play some of their less popular but great songs. The group is way underrated, and their lyrics will make anyone think about what life is about. Great concert

This is the 3rd of 4th time ive seen Switchfoot in less than a year and I can tell you that there is nothing old and tired about them. They continue to produce songs and shows that entertain and challenge on multiple levels. Jon Foreman is amazing and you don't want to miss him or the gang when they come through.

Wow. John did it again. Switchfoot at del mar fair grounds despite the large crowd felt like a intimate affair. The band has a way to reach out to their fans with music that connects and unites. The band members are from san diego, so any of his shows here are a little extra for the locals. The band knows how to pump up a crowd and get them moving. He jumped in the crowd a few times and belted a few songs from the rafters. I dont want to say too much. I really think you should take a chance and see this band and experience why this band has so much to offer, and is so fun to see! Very good show.

I love Switchfoot. I've seen them live in concert probably 8+ times now. They always put on an amazing show. Jon Foreman never disappoints. He's a fantastic performer. Their documentary, Fading West, was really good, I enjoyed watching their travels, especially since Australia and New Zealand are some of my favorite places in the world, but about 45 minutes in, I was wondering when the film was going to end, and when was the concert going to start. It's a full length 90 minute documentary. With beautiful locations, awesome surfing, and interesting friends and people they meet along the way, I just wish that the movie started earlier, so there was more time for an actual show. Usually concerts end around 11 pm, but with a 90 min movie and 20+ minute intermission to take down the screen, there was only a hour long concert. The concert was great, I just wish there had been more of it. And their Jerome stand in did an awesome job! Off the cuff he knew every Switchfoot song, and it didn't matter that Jon or Chad changed up the set list. Congratulations Jerome on the new baby! Can't wait to see them again the next time they come through to Atlanta. I love Center Stage, it's is by far my favorite venue in this city. There's no bad seat in the house, it's the perfect size venue. Thanks!

Seeing Switchfoot again at Center Stage just confirmed that they are one of the best LIVE bands out there... Going to their shows is an interactive experience, you don't just stand there, EVERYONE is singing every word, EVERYONE is ready to High Five Jon Foreman as he makes his way through the crowd. Their message is clear, the music is rocking & you leave the venue feeling lifted... What else can you expect. If you have not been to a Switchfoot show, don't think, just go...

We drove from Denver to Vegas for my birthday to see SF play (after going to an amazing Denver show). This venue was intimate and easy to see the band play. Switchfoot rocked as usual - Jon even took my husband's fedora to wear for a song; it makes it fun that they interact with the crowd so much. We are never disappointed with Switchfoot - if you haven't seen them live - you are missing out! Only wish the spectators were more into the show - guess we are used to the Denver crowd who really engage - but the band never lets us down!

Switchfoot puts on an amazing show!! My sister and I were right in front near the stage. I could read the setlist from where I was. During "Stars" Jon Forman held my hand for a bit. I about died! The venue has like mini levels, and he made his way through the crowd and went into the middle of the venue, and in short it was awesome. Furthermore, they covered "Rolling in the Deep" for the first time. This is also the second time I've seen them. I first saw them on tour with Anberlin not too long ago, and that show was probably one of my favorites. In short, we actually came to this show for the opening act however - The Rocket Summer. This concert was a birthday present to my sister. She's loved The Rocket Summer for a while, and this is the first time we had heard of him coming to town. We got Bryce's actual set list, met him after the show, and he signed said setlist. All in all, a great event!

Typically awesome Switchfoot show. Jon Foreman is the hardest working man in show business right now. How he and his bandmates can tour so relentlessly, yet maintain their enthusiasm and energy is a phenomenon. The level of musicianship and energy surpasses that of other bands we've seen (Coldplay is an exception, as, along with Switchfoot, the Englishmen are supreme entertainers). The show was exciting and inspiring, with never a pause, never a dull moment. As in our previous Switchfoot show, Jon Foreman worked the crowd brilliantly. He is one talented and athletic dude. He climbed up on the steel barrier between the stage and audience during certain songs and even waded out into the throng for one song. He and the other guys in the band work to entertain and to inspire their audiences and we feel their love and we hope that they feel ours for them and for their music. Seeing Switchfoot in person is a life-experience of major importance. There were, however, a few negatives: (1) The tickets gave 6 p. m. as the time for the doors opening; however, we customers were left queued up in the cold and the rain for nearly an hour before the doors opened; (2) Once inside the venue, nearly another hour passed before the opening act, Ivoryline, performed. No reason was given for the holdup but the crowd's mood was bordering on surly when Ivoryline began its performance. Jeremy Gray and his bandmates had to work most of their set to win the crowd but they worked hard to give the somewhat disgruntled paying customers their money's worth. By the end of their set, Ivoryline had everyone back in a festive mood and ready for the headliners. Plus, drummer Wes Hart is not just a great drummer but a human highlights reel. It is mesmerizing to watch him play his drums; (3) Though the event was listed as a meet-and-greet for Friends of the Foot, the meet-and-greet either didn't happen or occurred between the opening act and Switchfoot's performance. We simply didn't get a chance to meet-and-great with the guys in Switchfoot, which was a big disappointment. However, the chance to hang out with Ivoryline after the concert was cool and helped blunt the edge of our disappointment. In sum, the evening was not perfect but it was memorable, as is every live performance of Switchfoot. The band is simply one of the best, if not the best, bands in America today. They are unique, inspiring, and utterly, massively brilliant.

This concert was absolutely amazing! I would definitely go see them in concert again!! Switchfoot actively engages the audience in their concerts and makes sure they cover at least one song from every album at their concerts. They were at the Stroh Center at BGSU this past wednesday and knowing that college students have limited budgets, they dropped the prices of merchandise down, showing that they actually care. Changing the set between bands was also very quick too, so no time was wasted just waiting for the bands to come out. I would recommend this concert it was absolutely amazing!!!

Really enjoyed the show. Switchfoot is a very skilled live band with an excellent arsenal of songs to draw from. The only disappointment was that Switchfoot didn't play longer. The two opening bands played long sets, especially Anberlin and the set-up time between bands was unusually long. Perhaps a little less time for the opening acts would allow more time for Switchfoot. Still, I would see this show again in a minute!

I've seen Switchfoot 6 times now, and every time their show gets better! Jon Foreman is such an amazing performer! He really interacts with the crowd and he jumps down, off of the stage and performed a few songs in the audience. The show is so energetic and they play tons of the new stuff, including a new song from their unreleased album, and all of the old favorites. The National is such a cool venue too with the balcony seats as well as the spacious floor by the stage. We had so much fun and I got to touch Jon Foreman as he sang "Always" so I couldn't have asked for more, unless I got a chance to meet him personally! LOL I will most definitely be seeing them again the next time they come to Virginia!

To start this off, the last time I saw Switchfoot was 3 years ago at a University event. They put on an awesome live show then, so I knew I couldn't miss this opportunity. When the show finally started, The Almost was the opener. They had a great intro and had an even better stage presence. They encouraged the crowd to get rowdy and jump and clap and even push people around. But hey, Aaron Gillespie was in Underoath before, so no real surprise there after that fact. Then when they were done the stage was ready, Switchfoot came out. Or should I say, 4 out of 5 members of Switchfoot came out. I know Jon Foreman loves to come out into the crowd very stealthily at shows from watching the Switchfoot podcasts. But nonetheless, I never expected him to suddenly just poof out of nowhere into the crowd and start singing. He eventually made his way up to the stage and the concert just kept rocking from there. There were many memorable moments from that show but one of the most memorable was the encore call. All of us started singing the "Oh" part from Hello Hurricane, progressing faster and faster. When the show was truly over, the band all stood together on stage, arms wrapped around each other, and saluted the audience in their own special way. To say this show was great is a very gross understatement. This was one of the best shows I've ever seen to date.

The fact that a band like Switchfoot chose to play in a small venue made this an unforgettable evening. This concert was 2nd best only to being in the inner circle at U2360. Frontman John Foreman is a madman, starting the show from the balcony, climbing over and onto railings, walking through the crowd several times. It was an interactive experience and he gives everything he has to the audience. I would see Switchfoot at the Ogden again and again. These guys are are not one-dimensional, sugar-coated pop stars. They are musically ingenious and lyrically thought provoking. Thank you Switchfoot for a spectacular concert!!

These guys never fail to put on a good live show, and this one in Denver was no different. From the beginning of Needle and Haystack life, when Jon Foreman descended from the balcony, to the last note of Meant to Live, they never stopped rocking hard or engaging the audience. This was my son's first concert, and it truly was an unforgettable evening. He's 8 yrs old and he adores Switchfoot. He can name you any song within 5 seconds of it starting! We got him tickets for his birthday back in May, but surprised him with the fact that we got the VIP package the day of the concert. He got to meet everyone, get a picture, and ask them questions that's he's had for a while. Once the concert started, he was definitely tired from the long evening and being crammed in with a crowd of people, but he was determined to have a good time. His adrenaline kicked up his excitement once he saw them take stage! He was outsinging anyone in that building. My husband put him on his shoulders so he could see the band and he got to get a high 5 from Jon Foreman as well as a shout out during a song and even the guitar pick at the end of the evening! We all had an amazing time. I know this will go down in his memories as one of his favorite experiences--"once in a lifetime" ;)

Having seen Switchfoot live 3 other times, I knew this show was going to be good. But this show was the best I had ever seen. Maybe it has something to do with seeing them in their own home town, but seeing Switchfoot is San Diego is electrifying! Their new music is some of the best I have heard from them, and from anyone else, of the like, for that matter! Switchfoot made me very happy by playing many of their older, rockin' songs; not just their new stuff on Fading West. I was a little disappointed Switchfoot played for only 1 1/2 hours which included only 2 encore songs. My wife celebrated her 53rd birthday, and really enjoyed the show along with the Switchfoot swag (hip cap) she purchased. My older son (15 yrs old) also enjoyed the music and swag (t-shirt & cap). My younger son (13 yrs old) was not so impressed having been to Foo Fighters' last date at Viejas on SDSU campus. All in all, we had a fun night with the personable Foreman brothers. BTW, I had no idea Drew Shirley (the lead guitarist) was such a good artist. He played some awesome solos.

Having seen them 4 times now I can honestly say they have never dissapointed and this time is not different. Right from the start it was a powerful, hard hitting rock show. The newly added lazors made for a memorable show. If you are considering seeing them live do it, you will never feel that you wasted your money with switchfoot. No doubt in my mind that this was the best show I have ever seen them perform, and possibly one of the best shows I have ever seen!

What an incredibly amazing concert from such a frustratingly underrated band! Switchfoot never disapppoints. If you have never seen them live, you need to now! I'm a diehard Switchfoot fan, and this was my 3rd time seeing them. I said this last time too, but they were better than the last time that I saw them. They have the greatest concerts! They've been around for over a decade, and they haven't given up yet. I enjoy their concerts because they take it so seriously and put on a show with amazing music. There are few bands around today that can put forward such quality live music without having to rely on computers and frills. Sometimes I wonder how Jon makes it through a show without passing out! He runs around, climbs walls, and crowd surfs without missing a note. Worth every penny. LOVE this band.

Amazing first time seeing these guys. Now I have to make up for lost time. LOVE their music, so good. Nice crowd too. Fading West new songs, older songs. They could have played just about any setlist and it would have been great since it was my first time. Ready to see them again.

I've seen Switchfoot six or seven times in concert and each time I see them it's better than the last. They always bring new twists and exciting elements, yet stick to who they truly are and their mission. They are a band of the people. This past concert at the Sherman was wonderful. My absolute favorite part is when Jon goes into the crowd. It's such a humbling sight. Because they truly make it feel like we're family. Regardless of if you're a Switchfoot fan or not, I am 100% convinced that you'll appreciate them, their music, and what they believe in after the show is over. And if you're anything like me, you'll want to hop from one of their concerts to the next. I never want their shows to end.

What a fabulous concert...every song was my favorite, the band was on FIRE! Best part - Jon Foreman jumped off the stage into the crowd, walked through the crowd jumped up to the upper part we were in, climbed on the rail and we had our arms up to help him in case he fell! He shook our hands and we were in awe!

Went to this concert for my 17 year old son. I didn't expect too much; I thought I would just hang out and wait for him. I never expected to LOVE Switchfoot. The concert was great and I bought their cd. I plan to get their other albums. Don't miss this performance - so much fun and great concert.

I'm a big Switchfoot fan. This was the second time my family and I have seen them live ... the last time was an awesome outdoor concert experience at Stubbs in Austin in Oct 2011. Last Sunday, Switchfoot premiered their new film "Fading West" at Laurie Auditorium in San Antonio. We were really looking forward to seeing what they came up with and some of the new music from the upcoming album of the same name. Unfortunately, the film (although good), was over an hour long ... much too long to maintain interest at a live concert event. Then, after a 20-minute intermission (it's now almost two hours into the night), the band came out and played. Sure, they rocked! And, they played many of their old favorites and most popular hits. A 3-4 song section of their most driving hits was a highlight. But, they played only one new song, after the encore acoustic set. Bottom line: Film ... too long ... Concert ... WAY too SHORT! Don't get me wrong, I love these guys ... and I love their music LIVE ... even better than studio/radio plays. But the full-length film really took away from the experience. As my wife said, "I didn't come here to watch a movie!" Sorry, boys ... y'all did a nice job on the film, but we wanted more music ... including more of Jon interacting with the audience ... and more of your new music from Fading West. Oh, and the sound quality was sub-standard. Smaller speakers hanging overhead on right and left, but no floor-level speakers at all. Pretty weak by rock concert standards.

These guys are experimenting with their sound and sounding great. They are a positive and thought-provoking intelligent band. Listen then read the words to their songs, you won't be disappointed. Pure pleasure to hear them play.

Tenth Ave no was excellent live with a good mix of songs, Dave l was great as a solo guitarist and wonderful evangelist, Switchfoot is my favorite band ever and played several Christmas tunes, my favorites were "joy to the World" and "Feliz Navidad." Both were great renditions. Then they played some of their best hits which were fabulous as usua. i ended up giving a lady in a wheelchair one of our tickets as we came up 2, so only 1 of 9 waqs lost which is not too bad! Thanks!

The base notes and percussion overpowered every thing. The only time we were able to understand the words being sung was when they were displayed behind the band or when a soloist with a single guitar was performing. I am assuming the band sound crews did not check anything beyond their head phones at the sound boards.

Reliant K was fun, though perhaps too loud (and I like it loud) - the base from the speaker was literally blowing my hair! Switchfoot was excellent and sound was perfect! A good mix of new and old songs. Jon interacted a lot with the crowd, which is always fun. Paid extra $15 for early entry - saved a 30+ minute wait on a cool LA night and allowed us to get closer to stage.

I love seeing Switchfoot live. This was my 5th Switchfoot concert and they give it their all each and every time. My kids are now second-generation Switchfoot fans and they have been to three concerts. It's a great time for our whole family and Switchfoot performances and a lot of fun. Jon Foreman has no problem coming into the crowd to hang out and see fans. I've never had that experience at any other concert.

I came into this concert only wanting to see Relient K, but left loving both bands. John Foreman is an amazing performer and is amazing at inserting his faith into his performance. The only things I didn't like was not having a good view due to a height disadvantage and there not being an event t-shirt that said both bands on the shirt. It wasn't Switchfoot that sold out the concert, it was the two bands together that did. I think it deserved a shirt or at least a sticker.

It was the second time I've been to a Switchfoot concert and they didn't disappoint. Relient K is a perfect match to be paired with Switchfoot. The energy both bands brought to the stage was awe inspiring. My only wish is that Switchfoot played a few more songs from the Fading West album. I'll definitely see them again!

I absolutely loved Jannus Live venue. It holds 2000 max. We got there 1 and half hours before doors open and went in right behind priority ticket people. We stood about 15 ft. from stage in center. The bands were great. Loved the outdoor venue.

Switchfoot and Relient K were spectacular at this sold out show. Both bands have such a large catalog of great music that you knew the set lists would be epic. First time I have been to Jannus Live-a great place to see a show. Outdoors but right downtown in St. Pete gives the venue a cool vibe. The sound was great as well.

Both bands put on an absolutely amazing show, so much energy, and great performances! The Janus Live venue was definitely a unique one for me, being outdoors but enclosed among buildings. I liked that the stage was lower to the ground and though I was in the middle of the crowd, it seemed like there probably wasn't a bad viewing spot within the area. I had never seen either of these bands but had been wanting to catch Switchfoot for years. I'm so glad that I picked up tickets and made the drive. I'm now a big Relient K fan as well. I hope to see them again in the future.

The concert itself was excellent. Switchfoot is always amazing to see live. However, the concert started an hour later than advertised. I don't know if there was a delay or if the wrong time was printed on the tickets. They let us in at 6:30 instead of starting at 6:30 as advertised. This made for a much later night than we wanted. The volume level wasn't terrible; with ear plugs it was just right.

Like always Switchfoot put up a great show, but this time was SUPER AMAZING... To begin with, the MOST anticipated opening band, which I've been waiting FOR YEARS RelientK (Amazing Job). Then from the Switchfoot music, cool props, and the One-Of-A-Kind John interaction with the audience, made the night very special. We drove from Orlando (Party of 10) to see them, and we all couldn't stop talking all night in the hotel about the concert. We have see them many times at Rock the Universe, and other venues, but this concert was second to none.

This was the best concert that I've ever been to, and I've been to A LOT of concerts. Both bands gave it their all. My only complaint was that there was someone standing near the crowd, smoking. That was a venue problem, it had nothing to do with the bands, but it shouldn't have been allowed

I was there to see Relient K so seeing Switchfoot was like a freebie! Their musical skill was there and there stage presence was very friendly. John Foreman getting stuck in the tree singing right next to the fans. Between both bands, they did most of my favorite songs. They even were sponsoring a charity that offers surgeries to children in third world countries. Very thoughtful of them. I left hearing less and loving more.
