Rob Thomas

Rob Thomas Concert Schedule The impassioned voice behind post-grunge chart-topper Matchbox Twenty, Rob Thomas has also enjoyed a successful solo career kick-started by a collaboration with the legendary Carlos Santana. The singer-songwriter typically jumps between both of these musical worlds on tour, performing his own more polished pop-oriented material alongside new interpretations of his band's most-cherished emotive rock hits, while also showcasing his unique dance moves and compelling storytelling abilities. There have been plenty of opportunities to see Rob Thomas live over the years. He has embarked on headline treks to support all of his studio efforts, as well as a Special and Intimate Performance tour in 2014 and a series of joint shows with the Counting Crows in 2016.

Rob sounded exactly as he did almost 20 years ago when I was 19 year old listening "Push" in my old camero. Excellent show, if you get the chance to see him in concert - Do it!

Rob Thomas continued to show how he's grown as a front man. He was personable and energetic throughout his 1:45 show. He breezed through his set with ease. Engaging the audience when necessary to tell stories from his new album. He mixed the old with the new along with some Matchbox 20 staples. His band was tight and played well together. Excellent show.

I expected a Matchbox Twenty review and what I got was something completely different! First off, OneRepublic opened the show---this band does not get enough credit for how good they are. They seriously have great lyrics and awesome melodies to their songs, the lead singer is raw and his high-pitched moments are something to treasure. They did some of their hits as well as try out new material, which are future hits for sure. The Rob, my husband-to-be, came out. He actually sounds better live than on his albums. His voice is soothing, it really was something else because you get a 2 for 1 deal, you get his solo stuff as well as MB20 hits. I thought I would be disappointed to hear "Smooth" and "Bent" as acoustic versions, but not at all! These versions opened up my liking to them even more, you feel the songs in a different way when it's just a voice and a guitar. I you are a MB20 fan, you are a Rob Thomas fan, and I recommend this event to anyone who is a fan of either or both! I give it 2 thumbs up.

ONEREPUBLIC needed to turn the BASS down on their sound system. A lot of their vocal notes and mid range sounds were drowned out by an overwelming amount of BASS. They did, however, generate more excitement than Rob Thomas who was just an average performer. While his vocals were amazing I just wasn't feelin it. I've been to a bunch of concerts but this one just lacked that "get up and dance feel." He shoulda just busted out into "Long Day" and reminded us all of just were he originally came from....still bought the CD and will buy future ones too but expected a little more JAM.

Rob Thomas sounds just as terrific as his cds. His voice is really stong and very clear. He played all his wonderful songs beautifully. He did a wonderful job when he played some of his songs acoustically. You could hear the clarity and strenth of his voice. I recommend seeing him. However, if you want to really see him you had to hope and pray. Too many people in front of you and the stage is low. Better stick to the 2nd tier.

Rob Thomas was incredible, he sang for nearly 2 hours and he is quite the entertainer. His new album is going to be a hit. He sang all the songs I wanted to hear and his new songs were great as well. The acoustics at the Hard Rock was fantastic. I would highly recommend seeing future shows at that venue. There is not really a bad seat in the house.

As expected, Rob's voice did not fail to disappoint. His vocals were on point with every song on his roster, including a few Matchbox 20 songs to boot! The band provided some outstanding music to accompany Rob's voice. They were really really good. If you are a fan of Rob or Matchbox 20, then this is a concert you can't afford to miss. Let's get the not so good things out of the way. Traffic was not directed by police the only parking lot by the venue was very hard to get into. They should have had a ticket attendant there to help cars flow easier by keeping the arm up and passing out a ticket or paying. We ended up missing the first act and half of the 2nd trying to find a parking spot. You had to walk all the way around to the front entrance and then back to where you started before you got to your seats. I have a knee injury and all that walking was not expected. I felt they could have had a security point at another gate not just one location. Elle King has an amazing voice. Nate Ruess was a ball of energy and an incredible performer I love his music, his voice and would see him again; simply amazing! Rob Thomas, you can not ever find a negative thing about any performance. He is my favorite musician and I was so happy that he finally made it to Pittsburgh. He rarely comes here and I have to travel to Columbus when he is around. He sang so many of his classic songs everyone was singing along and having a great time. He is such a nice person, letting people come up to the stage while he sat singing so they could take a picture with him and him walking through the crowd was truly a gift to his fans. Once we got to our seats I ended up liking the venue because it felt more intimate. And lets not forget about the surprise visit of Chris Jamison. Loved the show!!!!

The amount of energy and talent was mind blowing! I've always been a big fan of Rob ever since his early days with Matchbox Twenty, but it seems like he gets better and better with age. Most of the show consisted of his early solo stuff, but he also played from his newest album, The Great Unknown. The concert was an intimate look into his life and songwriting and it showcased all of his talent. If you're a fan, you cannot miss this show! If you're not yet a fan, you will be.

Rob Thomas is amazing live. The passion through every word he sings creates an unforgettable experience that you never want to end. He played for a lot longer then most artist play and rocked the shit out of the audience. Very interactive, very genuine and the perfect balance of fast-slow-high-low-old and new. Of course I wish he would have played his newer hits like "pieces" and "lie to me" but hearing "diamonds" and "great unknown" brought enough tears to my eyes. To top it all off, he played "Fire on the Mountain" which blew me away. I have watched this performance a million and one times on YouTube and never thought I would get to see it live. "So if everyone here agrees that for the next 2 hours of our life we are gonna suspend this, we're gonna pretend that there is no horrible shit happening outside of this theatre. Whatever's in your life, whatever's in your life-work, family, school..." I love his opening speeches.

Rob NEVER disappoints. Listening to his music brings me out of any depression or pain that I am feeling. He is the only songwriter/singer that I have honestly loved EVERY song he has ever sung or written. He puts every bit of feeling into his songs when he sings them live. He gives his all and it shows in his concerts. I had the best moment of my life because up until this night, I have always just been the girl in the audience who would DREAM of front row seats, DREAM of meet and greets, DREAM of possibly just getting close enough to see him in person...well this night I was able to...sitting so far in the back I NEVER would have thought he would come down to where I was sitting, He did. He walked right over to me, walked down my row of seats and stood and sang the rest of his song. It is a moment that still leads me to tears thinking about now. I hope and dream still to meet him in person one day. But I am forever happy for this one experience that I will hold on to for forever!

What an incredible, intimate time with Rob and his solo tour band at the Saenger in Mobile! The setting was beautiful, the employees friendly, and the night unforgettable! The connection between performer and audience, I never thought was possible in that size of a venue. Everyone was involved and loving it. Rob's voice was better than his recordings and the band and backup singers were so talented! He started fast to get the energy up, then slowed it down for 4 or 5 songs, then took it back up and the audience danced until the very last note! Truly elevating experience from start to finish! Pumped some life back into everyone there! Thanks Rob et al!

Has this man ever done a bad show? This tour is on par with all the other ones I have been to, be they Rob Thomas or Matchbox 20. He always gives his all. He simply doesn't slow down. He is AMAZING and this performance didn't lack any of the style and flare for which Rob Thomas is known. Somehow he pulls off being a "Musical demi-God" and while maintaining his boyishness-- quite the feat given his 43 years and self-proclaimed "old knees". This guy very simply ROCKS. If he comes to town, I go see him. If you have the opportunity, you should do the same.

This was a rescheduled concert from July, due to wife's illness. There was a delay in him coming out on stage due to a bad thunderstorm coming through, it was a pretty scary storm. When he finally came out he told crowd he was going to do everything he could do get his whole concert in. This outside venue had a curfew and they got it pushed back 15 minutes. He only left the stage to change shirt and briefly during music only. They didn't even leave stage to only come back out to do a few more songs. He was fantastic, fabulous and more then wonderful! His powerful and beautiful voice outshined any storm and heat and humidity we have here in the great state of Florida!

Rob Thomas was amazing. He had two bands open, one was a small band that did 4 songs, the band sounded great they just don't really have the right lyrics yet. Second band was plain white tees who were awesome and really engaging. Rob Thomas played for 2 hours after he came out, way longer than other musicians I have seen. He even went back to check at one point in his long they could keep playing. He was very entertaining, and his vocals were spot on even live, he can just sing. He even played a matchbox 20 song. He venue was awesome, cleanest and least crowded concert I've been to. Was very comfortable and crowd was really into it.

Came early to get a spot near the front on a super hot day in Council Bluffs, IA. Plain White T's played 10 songs, half from their new cd and half of the old favorites. Rob Thomas and his crew came after, dancing and playing their hearts out. I was standing in front of the backup singers and you could feel their emotion. Rob put his soul into every song, and kept the show moving to fit in as many songs as possible. After being a fan forever, I loved hearing new renditions of his songs, particularly his version of Unwell. He was so genuine, and I can't wait to hear him again!

This was my third time seeing Rob in concert and he keeps getting better and better. He's so generous and grateful for his fans. With this show he had more time to interact/connect with his audience and do some storytelling and improv too. Loved the story about how Lionel Ritchie was a huge influence on his love life. When he made a few mistakes he said, "Hey, that was bad. I believe in full transparency," which gave his audience reason to love him even more. I was amazed that it was totally cool to take flash photos and record the event. Stick around afterwards and you might even get Rob to give you his autograph--I did!

First off, the Stiefel Theatre is beautiful & the perfect size for an intimate show. The staff were uptight but friendly. Rob said he had a cold, but he was in perfect form. The show was fully acoustic, with Frank Romano & Mat Beck backing him, & it was flawless. Every single song literally took my breath away. The performance was so intimate and lovely. When I arrived at the venue it was clear that with only a stool and a piano on stage this would be an acoustic set. This came as a total surprise as I expected a full band. There was no indication of this type of show when we purchased tickets long ago. However we were pleasantly surprised. As a long time fan of Rob Thomas's music this was the first opportunity I had to see him. No only was the show wonderful, his banter between songs was interesting and enjoyable and sometimes even funny. Overall a terrific show, loved the acoustic versions of his catalog. Rob showed a great talent in being able to sing all different types of songs, although as even he admitted at the concert he mostly writes and sings ballads. He can certainly do the "rock and roll" thing too, as I have experienced that too, especially when he's performing with his band, Matchbox Twenty. He displayed a more vulnerable side of himself when he talked a bit about how some of his songs came about. You got a peek into Rob Thomas as more than a very successful singer but as a human being like the rest of us. I've seen him twice with Matchbox Twenty and twice solo and will see him again when he comes to town.

This was a totally different concert for Rob. Really enjoyed the more "intimate" setting with the songs stripped down to minimal accompanyment to his voice. He has a great sense of humor and for a person who as he says is uncomfortable with the limelight and being in a room full of people, that was not evident at all in the Mohegan Sun arena. His voice is very strong and true to what you hear on each of the CDs he has done. Nice to see an artist who can deliver LIVE and is not a disappointment from what you have heard on a CD. The event was well worth a delay of almost 45 minutes due to sound check troubles and he seemed in no hurry to get off the stage, even after playing non-stop for over two hours. The only disappointment for us was the VERY RUDE couple & woman sitting next to them in the row in front of my husband & me. They talked through most of the show and even after others around us asked them to be quiet, they persisted. I don't understand why people pay for tickets when they don't even appear to be interested in the event. And really, how can you NOT be interested in a Rob Thomas show????

Rob Thomas has no problem filling a larger venue such as The Reno Event Center or San Jose's HP Pavilion, so it was a definite treat to see him in an acoustical setting in the beautiful Mountain Winery in Saratoga, California. The songs performed were a mixture of songs from his solo albums, MB20 and a couple of covers. Because of the intimate setting and acoustical set, the crowd sat throughout the performance, with the exception of the last song of the night. He sang an amazing 21 songs in ~2 hours, so fantastic and he told a story before most songs. The songs were performed with different arrangements that one is used to hearing on the radio, but all was still good, really good. The music volume was just right (not too loud) and the music quality was the tops. Now that I am spoiled with an up close experience with RT, I'm not sure I can see Rob Thomas or Matchbox 20 perform in large venues again. I believe you can buy a copy of the concert on his website, so you can still catch it!

This venue was perfect, just as it said...an intimate setting. The music was great as always. He sounds just as good live as he does recorded. He puts such emotion behind all his performances. A great way to spend an anniversary weekend w/ my husband.

I've seen Rob both solo and with Matchbox many many times over the years and I can say that this acoustic tour for Cradlesong to benefit Sidewalk Angels was perhaps his best ever!! And that's saying something considering what a fan I am!! If you have the opportunity to still get tickets for a show near you, GO! You'll have the time of your life, Rob puts on a fantastic show. It was Rob, Matt Beck & Frankie Romano ... just 3 guys, a few guitars, a lap steel and a piano ... pure magic!! If I had to sum it up in one word, I'd say it was magical! Thanks for one of the best evenings of my life Mr. Thomas, you rock my world!

Even when doing a stripped down acoustic show Rob Thomas delivers a powerful, unforgettable show. I have been a fan for a long time but I took two friends who had never seen Rob or MB20 and they were BLOWN AWAY by his performance. His voice is strong and true, as good....maybe even better...than recorded performances. This show was also an opportunity for him to discuss where some of the songs came from, the influences or circumstances that led to the songs. Funny, endearing, engaging, unpretensious - personal yet universal. I can't say enough good about Rob Thomas!

It was everything I expected and soo much more and If you're a Matchbox 20 fan even more! It was exciting to see him play on his guitar and piano. It was a intimate setting so as he shared his life expereinces, you really felt like you knew him by the end of the night. Hes got a bit of a potty mouth but he was REAL and himself. The whole concert was very well planned out and flowed beautifully. If he ever comes this way again Ill be the 1st to buy a ticket.

I started listening to Rob with Match Box 20 twelve years ago at my first concert at Water Street Hall (Rochester,NY). I have been to 10 concerts of Match Box 20 and last night was my first of Rob off alone with the band. I can't tell you how amazing this was to be there. This may sound crazy, but I got so excited that I even cried like a little kid from the excitement. I look forward to going back whether it's to see Rob on his own, or after the band gets back together in the fall. I have sang these songs so much I know them by heart new songs and old. Looking forward to a new Match Box 20 Cd. I didn't think it was possible but listening to Rob and his thoughts of his past, the Side Walk Angels Foundation, and just enjoying the night made me love him as an artist all that more. Just wanted to say thank you to the organization so much for making me such a happy woman. :-)

Rob performed an acoustic show with Matt Beck & Frankie Romano backing him up. He was funny, charming, naughty, silly, and poignant. Before each song he would tell a story about that song or how he came to write it. Most of the stories were really funny and some were very heartfelt and sad. He played songs from matchbox twenty, Tabitha's Secret, solo & some covers. It was a mellow intimate vibe and it kept me riveted the whole night. I never wanted it to end. He sang and played beautifully as well as Matt & Frankie. they were enjoying themselves so much & it translated to the audience. Can't wait to see him again in Atlantic City!

The Rob Thomas acoustic concert was totally amazing. There was one piano and 3 guitars, no other instruments. There were only 3 guys, including Rob, playing them. Rob's vocals were just flawless. He put in his personal life at times regarding the different songs he wrote and performed here. I have never been to just an acoustic concert and this was excellent. He was very personable in between songs and played, nonstop, for at least an hour and a half if not a bit longer. I was pleased to have been part of the benefit concert for the Sidewalk Angels Foundation and would recommend anyone to see this. I got my money's worth for sure. The wristband of the concert was also well worth the price.

I was so impressed with the show! I went alone and still had a blast! Rob is one absolutely amazing guy- he's not only a great song writter- but he has the most amazing voice ever! I'm SOOOOOO happy he played alot of the Matchbox Twenty songs which I am a HUGE fan of MB20 since 1999. The one reason I think the show was unbelievable and absolutely amazing was Rob doesn't just play song after song- he explains what the next song is about and talks about his life on a very personal level and I totally respect that. Alone the songs are beautiful- but then you get the story behind them which changes everything and how you sing it the next time you hear the tune in you're car. You feel like you know Rob Thomas on a more personal, intimate level when you walk out of his show. I also wanted to point out- he may be a happily married man (lucky Marisol!!!) but what totally won me over and made me totally love him all over again is his charming, hysterical sense of humor that made the crowd laugh like crazy- GO ROB!!!!!!!

Who knew that Rob Thomas was so funny? He made the entire crowd roar a couple of times with a clever joke. LOVE his talent. Beautiful voice. Didn't realize that this was an acoustic concert, was actually looking forward to his back up vocalists & band, but was not disappointed in the least once the concert started!

I took my wife to the show, she really loves him. I actually had a very good time. He was better than expected. He came back for an encore with Santana, which was the best part for me. I am a few years older than my wife, so it was good to see him again. She of course loved the show, and was able to get close to see him. We had floor seats, and at one point she went up front to get closer. He is definitely worth seeing.

OMG! This was a most amazing concert from Rob. HIs band is tight. The bass player was awesome and Matt Beck... couldn't tell you enough how great Matt is. Rob's vocals are spot on. Did not hear any bad notes, croaking there. The acoustics and sound engineering at the venue perfect. I will go see him again at Pechanga on Friday and Las Vegas on Saturday.

I was already pretty darn excited for the Rob Thomas concert, because he is a great artist... however, a couple days before the concert I learned that Carolina Liar and One Republic would be playing as well. This made me uber excited. Carolina Liar did a fabulous job and I wish they could have played a few more songs! One Republic was terrific and I am awaiting their new album next month. Rob Thomas! What can I say? He put on one heck of a show! He didn't seem to tire and he really interacted with the audience. When was the last time you went to a concert and the main act played for TWO HOURS??!! Yeah, not enough good things to say about him and his performance! Excellent, pure joy! Thanks Rob!!

(I just wish it wouldn't have been on a Sunday night - it made it hard to get up to go to work the next morning!!) The opening two bands - Carolina Liar and One Republic - were fantastic too!

Totally Amazing! I would see him again and again. It doesn't matter if he is with Matchbox 20 or on his solo tour. He plays so much to the audience that he is such an unbelievable performer! Great job Rob, you were unforgettable and you did a great job on picking your opening acts. One Republic was the greatest and so was Carolina Liar! I already bought One Reuplic's cd and can't wait until their next cd comes out in November. Don't ever stop singing Rob and we will never stop coming to see you! Thanks for all the great music and great time. You are a wonderful performer!

I'll start off with the negatives - which are few. We stood in line for almost an hour for a t-shirt. What a joke! We missed the first opening act - on account of the merch line-, Carolina Liar, but we could hear them, and they were so-so. The intermissions between the acts was too long - nearly a half hour. Hmm...that about sums up the negs. Positives: The WaMu Theater is a great place to have a concert. I recently saw an outdoor concert, and this was definitely preferable. It felt so intimate. It's not an arena or a stadium, so it doesn't have that I'm lost in a sea of people feel. Very cool. The second opening act, One Republic, was great! They did their more popular songs, "Stop and Stare" and "Apologize" along with some new stuff. They were definitely a bonus to the Rob Thomas show, and wow! I knew he would be good, but he was incredible! This guy is a born performer. He's high energy, works the stage well, and puts his whole self into his singing/playing. The times when he talked about the songs, or about the show or whatever, were really cool. He's funny, and very real. He seemed like he enjoyed being there just as much as we did, and was totally focused on giving us what we came for - a great show. He played a variety of songs - not just ones from Cradlesong - which was really cool. His part of the show was a solid two hours, but the entire show from Carolina Liar til the end was 4 hours. The only disappointments from his show were: may favorite song - Wonderful - was done acapella, which was cool, but weird, and he didn't sing Snowblind or Hard on You. I will definitely see him again, the next time he comes to Seattle, but I want closer seats!

I was pleasantly surprise that our 4th row floor seats were so close to the stage. The venue was small so it made it more intimate. I thought Mr. Thomas put on a great show. He had lots of energy and even though the arena wasn't sold out he still played to the audiance like it was a full house. I took my sister, and this was her first concert and we both enjoyed ourselves. The only thing I didn't like is the parking. Over priced and not a lot to choose from. Of course the venders that sold food was over priced as well. So eat before you go. All in all, it was a great show! Rob Thomas definetly puts on a heart felt, high energy show.

Rob Thomas is such a talented musician and that definitely was shown to the audience during his OKC concert! His performance is energetic and flawless. I have to say this was the best concert I have ever been to in my life. The sound system was wonderful. I felt as if I was on stage with him. He rocked. He is a performer. During some songs you could see the passion. It helps knowing he writes his own songs. It makes me want to know the whole story behind each song.

Rob came back to OKC!!!!! We saw him with Matchbox Twenty last year, and this year he was better. His band rocked the stage, and he owned the audience. Rob doesn't rely on "stage fluff", and he doesn't waste time on costume changes! It's him, for 2 hardcore hours. He did everything from Her Diamonds to Smooth, and added a Matchbox Twenty song to show his respect!!!! Rob Thomas played guitar, the keyboard, and sang. He is amazing. This was the first concert my teenage son had ever attended. I knew it would be memorable for him... and safe. thanks for the memories ROB!!! Come back soon, we will be waiting!!!! Heather Cajina, Joni, Rose, and Matthew Patrick!!!!

Rob doesn't try to dance - he doesn't need fancy costumes or stage props - he just does what we love - and that is sing and be himself!! I love how he talked about his mother and then the story of his little dog. I have a dog that is my little baby and he is having problems right now and I will have to make the hardest decision I have ever had to make soon. Thank you Rob - for understanding and writing about every day life! I met Rob 13 years ago and have followed him ever since.............I am happy to see that his heart has not changed with fame!

Rob's solo shows are just as great as MB20's...among the best I've ever experienced. His tour band is quite talented (you'll see some familiar faces from the 05 tour) and you're sure to leave wanting more! Abe Fogle rocks out on the drums, Al Carty plays a mean bass, and Matt Beck tickles keys and strings. If you've never been to a show, you'll definitely wanna catch them while they're at the smaller venues this go-around. While Rob and the boys always pull off an intimate show (even in an arena), nothing beats a smaller venue.

The show was perfect. Carolina Liar and One Republic were unbelievable. They opened up great. They played all the songs that everyone knew and loved. One Republic even played some new ones which everyone seemed to enjoy. After the opening acts, Rob Thomas came out and the crowd went wild! It was awesome. He was so nice and funny during his intro. He even asked us how we were feeling after every song! He really kept us going. He played all the songs we knew, some that I didnt recognize, and introduced a new song that wasnt on a record but was just "floating around." It was great. Overall, the performance was above and beyond. It exceeded my expectations!
