Great show last night at the Newport. The Band looked loose and fresh. I noticed Billy smiling and exchanging glances with Jeff most of the night. Billy got a kick out of a set list got stuck to his shoe and Jeff had to step on it to get it off. It got re-taped between the next song. They played a nice selection of new and old SP. Off the top of my head they rocked Hummer and Today for old school pumpkins. Ava Adore, Stand inside your love, Tonight Tonight and a kick ass version of Bullet. Then the new stuff off of Kelidescope like a stitch in time and freak (among several other songs). Mike is one HELL of a drummer. I know we all loved JC but Mikey drums with power and authority. He is a stud. And what else is to say about the 4 some other than Nicky Fiorentino is way smoking hot (my wife even agreed)...

This was my third time seeing Smashing Pumpkins and I would have to say it was one of my favorite shows! I thought the set was amazing and Billy's vocals sounded great. I love Newport as a classic concert venue but would have loved to have seen them do another outdoor show at the LC. We had a great time!

Great show. I am a fan of the band's earlier work, and haven't paid much attention since Zwan disbanded. So I was only familiar with about 50% of the set list. I still enjoyed tremendously the songs I did know, as well as the songs I didn't.

The Pumpkins are my favorite band, and excellent performers, there was no way they could put on a bad show, but i'll be damned if the Orbit Room and the first two bands didn't try. to begin, doors did not open until an hour after advertised, at which point the first band immediately began playing, which meant that given the line's crawling pace; you could arrive early and still miss some of the concert. This turned out to be a good thing though because that first band was bat city, not only did they not fit at all with the pumpkins, they lacked any musical talent, at the end of their set, the toe-headed vocalist grabbed their flag (they have their own flag) and pretentiously waved it as though anyone was there to see them. The second band, Kill Hannah, started out decently, with plenty of distortion and thundering drums, until this little elf of indiscriminate gender jumped out onto the stage and began whining about strobe lights, morphine, and wanting to be a Kennedy. This creature was pretty androgynous, but i suspected it was Hannah, and i did want to kill it. the most applause kill hannah got was when they mentioned the pumpkins. The Pumpkins rocked the house. they simply rocked. even though they opened the show with a song from the new album (Astral Planes) that no one knew, seeing them play was amazing. They sounded better live and improvised very well. to be frank, it was really just Billy people had come to see, without him it was just a cover band. There were a handful of songs that i had been sure they would play, like 1979, disarm, Zero, and rocket, but that didn't matter, the experience was magical. If anything the lackluster moments in the night just make me want to see them again, hopefully without those moments.

I was towards the front of the main floor. I can't see how anyone could write a bad review about this concert. Billy's voice seemed to be better and more in tune than any time I've seen their videos before. He also seemed happy too, which made the crowd even more rowdy and pumped for what was to come. The whole band seemed to work together perfectly. I've become a big "Pumpkinhead" over the last 2 or so years, and I couldn't complain one bit about the amazing setlist. Overall, I think it's safe to say, this is one of the best intimate concerts I've ever seen.

The Pumpkins put on a great show at the House of Blues in Cleveland. Never would I have thought that I would get the chance to see them at such a small venue. Billy showed that the Pumpkins can still rock and put on a great show. They played a 2 hour, 20 song set with a great balance of old and new songs. The sound and lights were amazing and hope I get the chance to see them again.

I came into the HOB expecting the atlantic city show. Billy, not into it and a horn band. What I saw, heard, and experienced was buffalo 1996. That was my first ever show and even though that was a big show (arena) compared to house of blues, it was as big, loud and met my old expectations that sp brings. I heard the new stuff music I expected, which I like. But SP rocked the classics and the first encore I heard gossamer I went nuts. There was such a core sp group there that they knew what a treat it was. Billy is serious about those tour and I will see them again. SP out did themselves and they proved that they still have the heavy metal machine with them always. X.y.u

Billy Corgan was amazing as usual. I have been going to SP shows since 97 and they never disappoint. The new drummer held his own. Love the idea of smaller venues. There was an awesome crowd -- old fans like me and the next generation of fans in high school and college. You know a band is incredible when after 20 years they can still appeal the 15 year old kids. Especially with the corporate rock era as Billy calls it. I will never attend a show at the House of Blues again. They were horrible to fans. They encouraged us to spend $15 in their store to get into the show early and wait in line in the air conditioning. I spent my $15 and waited in a 120 degree restaurant dock for 2 hours only to get in five minutes after the doors opened.

It was so exciting to enter the Gibson Amphitheater seeing nothing but the spotlight over Jimmy wailing on the drums as an impressive opener. Then Billy and the rest of the band appeared as tons of colorful lights filled the stage. At first, I didn't recognize Billy because he was wearing quite an outfit! He was wearing this big headdress sort of thing and a dress. It was pretty amazing, actually. He later changed into his signature ZERO shirt and a white skirt to play the rest of the show. Anyways, I thought one of the greatest aspects of this show was that I could actually feel the music, literally (I suppose because they put the speakers on the ground). It made songs like Tarantula, G.L.O.W., Siva, and Bullet With Butterfly Wings sound unbelievable. He played songs that were quiet and beautiful, as well (such as Once Upon A Time). Towards the end, they played Heavy Metal Machine with Billy's jamming solo session where he made sounds with his guitar I didn't know were possible. As a very pleasant surprise, he played a Pink Floyd cover! Being a huge fan of both SP and Pink Floyd, hearing that song live just about completed my life. Every song in this set list was played so greatly, I just don't have the time to write a review properly giving each song the credit it deserves. There was a surprising part of the show I forgot to mention that had something to do with a stuffed animal bird, as well. hehe. The new-ish members of the band are great. The band seems to have wonderful chemistry on-stage and they rock just as hard as the old lineup. This is just an overview in which I marked the highlights of the show (which is about impossible, because the whole show was the highlight). Basically, go to see a SP show. Trust me, it will be the best show you will ever go to.

I waited half the night for his kooky little dance, I swear I have never seen anyone change clothes as much as Billy. This was by far the best concert performance I've ever seen, Vegas worthy. If you go only knowing the songs that play on the radio you are missing out big time, and there were still 2 or 3 songs I didn't know. They played for hours, 3 covers, and an encore. I left this arena in tears, I am still gushing over this night. I have so many pictures and videos, but I feel, they might ruin this experience for my friends who are going to see them in California. I wish Corgan would publish a Tarot card deck~!

So, my thoughts on The Billy Corgan..errr Smashing Pumpkins show last night. I got goose bumps the whole ride to the show listening to their classic discography and I knew going in, that the tour was probably mostly about the check for them, and what I saw was a bored band and a phoned in show. I ve seen them when they were just n their prime and they always rocked and were full of energy. To me it seemed as though this tour is all about Billy Corgan proving to himself that he is still relevant. It was actually kinda sad when you open up with a solo song with nothing but pictures of yourself on the big screen. I know Billy has gotten weirder than usual over the years, but this was beyond what I have seen so far. If they had just came out and rocked and just played their hearts out, it would have been a million times better. Instead they tried to make it a show or a theatrical performance with Billy as the main character. And costume changes? Never for a band like this. It was too much. There were some A+ moments, especially when they broke out with Soma and Zero, but that was really about it. The setlist/order of the show plays a huge part in the energy, and nothing seemed to flow. It was all over the place. I never thought that I would be leaving early to beat the crowd. No more reunion shows for me, or arena shows for that matter. I will let my heroes be my heroes and not see them play a sub par show. Below are videos and pictures of some of the weirdness and lack of energy. And A pre recorded video with Mark McGrath introducing a song?!?!

Pumpkins reuniting bringing with them decades of virtuosity is a good thing, but it was clear some of the old tensions that broke them apart were still on the stage. Having three of the best guitarists on stage in this genre was amazing though, and the key sound of Jimmy on drums made this show just short of amazing. This being the first big venue of the newly launched 'Shiney and Bright' tour, also was evidenced in some small mistakes and off timing in band cohesion. The venue acoustics were awful for such a wall of sound, but still the power wasn't too overwhelming. I'd like to see them again in a little further into the tour, and of course in a spot where the sound issues would not detract from the show.

They worked their ass off and gave the fans everything...drama, heart, mystery, joy, despair, ART, and high energy for 3.5 straight hours. Every time I thought they were walking off for good, billy just came back with a new guitar and another song! Also, the talent level of these people is extremely high. I ve recently seen a lot of shows and this one had the most skill and passion. I d have to say that I was a sickly obsessed pumkins fan for many years and this show was EVERYTHING! I d only change a few song choices and wish that the venue had a standing room only area...but that s just my personal idea of what would ve made it perfect for me. This show felt like fan appreciation at its finest. I m honored to have been able to see their very first of the tour <3 forever

William Patrick Corgan has reinvented this nearly 30 year odyssey called the Smashing Pumpkins, perhaps delivering the catalog of songs in a way that they were originally written for demos, on acoustic guitars. Beautiful sound quality, breathtaking backdrops, brilliant arrangements. Corgan brings a lineup of Jimmy Chamberlin, Jeff Schroeder, Sierra Swan and Katie Cole. He has collaborated and or produced with these artists, who are true to their musical art. Thank you WPC for a memorable evening. Please come back to CLT!

Mr. Corgan treated us, the fans, as if we were not reacting to his expectations. He called us "the worst response he's seen all tour", then he proceeded to ask the crowd what our problem was. Well, William Corgan, everything was spectacular up until you made your rude, arrogant, unnecessary, "fu** it!" comment. As a matter of fact my husband and I were stoked about seeing you (acoustic or not). The bottom line is, any event will be influenced by its surroundings. The venue, the historical Saengar Theatre of New Orleans, had security surrounding us to keep us in our seats, not stand in the aisle, etc. However, where the hell were they when the photos and videos were going on to distract my entire experience? By the way, the ticket prices for our 3rd row seats were far more costly than those further behind us. However, those who were in those seats ended up standing directly in front of us after the arrogantly disrespectful comment that was made. Think about the type of venue you chose before jumping to conclusions that Nee Orleans wasn't enjoying the show. Champion Square, River Walk, The Arena, are just to name a few other options. I was skeptical buying the tickets due to the venue to begin with, but I've been a fan since the early 90s, and I'm sad to say that I was disappointed with the performance.

Liz Phair was an credible opener and her songs reminded me of the early 90's. I really liked her new song as well Dog Days Left Behind. Billy's acoustic set was similarly wonderful and deconstructed. In my opinion it lost a little with the whole band but probably just because I was enjoying the acoustic so much.

The show was absolutely amazing! I'm not super familiar with Liz Phair's music, but her set was good and she sounded great. I really enjoyed her Prince tribute, Nothing Compares 2 U, which she did with Katie Cole and Sierra Swan. All of the acoustic songs the Pumpkins played were just gorgeous. The electro stuff was really rockin and epic. Definitely worth the ticket price and I will be back if they ever are. Having said that, the biggest complaint I saw was from the people sitting on either side of the stage bc they were basically blinded by lighting for most of the show. This is a common problem with shows at Verizon and I have been a victim of it myself. That is totally Verizon Arena's fault though, not the Pumpkins. So be aware of that when purchasing tickets. I will fill in what I have for the setlist, although it isn't complete and not in the correct order.

This was a somewhat strange event. 9pm start time at the Saenger which is not a rock venue on the opening day of Jazz Fest. This all added up to a rowdy (drunk?) crowd who did not stay in their seats much. Lot of moving around which was distracting but it would not have been as noticeable at a House of Blues type event where the crowd would have been standing. Billy Corgan addressed the crowd on this issue... "Is the sound bad? Do you not like the set list? Am I singing bad?" None of these were the issue. I think it was just a rowdy crowd getting slower paced acoustic music that led to the almost lack of interest. Bottom Line, I enjoyed it.

I have loved the Smashing Pumpkins for years. The show was great, they played some deeper cuts and did a lot of songs acoustic. It all sounded great. Corgan's voice hasn't changed and I am so glad he hasn't gone the way of many modern musicians - that is, have a backup musician play the intricate guitar parts, or just make them electronic. He was out there by himself many times just playing away. It was fantastic. When the set was over, Corgan walked around the stage and waved and made eye contact with many fans for a few minutes. I was highly impressed.

The Beacon theater in NYC is such a up close and personal experience venue to see a band. There is not a bad seat in the house. I love how Smashing Pumpkins used the theater to their advantage. The show the SP put on was one of the best I ever seen them play. Had I known it was going to be as great as it was I would have seen them at least one more day while they were here in NYC. The lack of energy from the band was palpable... He even joked at the end that it seemed like the crowd was ok with the concert being over (plenty of people immediately left and didn't wait for the encore song). There was very little interaction with the audience- more of that could have raised the energy level, for sure. The heavy use of pre-recorded tracks just felt empty. Overall, I could have skipped this and been just fine. I gave it 3 stars because The Palace Theater is a great venue for this type of show and is always fun to be in.

I expected to live the Pumpkins and they did deliver a great performance. I like the new material as well so the entire set was great I only knew of MM from media over the years and the few key songs that he is know widely for. I did not expect the great show and the clean technical delivery by his band. I have seen hundreds of shows over the years starting with Kiss and ACDC as the warm up back in the 70'S AND I WOULD GIVE THIS MM show in my top 20 easy. I could do without some of the gross out features but all in all it just works. Great double bill and glad I made the trip to see it.

The Smashing Pumpkins/Marilyn Manson concert the other night proved to be a truly unique fusion, combining retro alternative with a goth/industrial style and keeping the sound fresh! Although I have seen Marilyn Manson multiple times before now and spin his albums relentlessly, I had never seen the Pumpkins live before, let alone played their albums at home or on the go either in months. It proved to be a great night highlighted by rocking, screaming guitar work that was simultaneously melodic and intricate all at once during the Pumpkins' set. The same was true for Manson's set albeit with a more goth and cacophonous approach which Manson and his band enhanced with numerous visual and theatrical effects. Among them were lit crosses and stained glass props with Manson's likeness on them. We attended a pre-concert acoustic session with Billy Corgan followed by a Q/A session which was extremely informative and interesting. Not only that, but I managed to snag a spot, albeit temporarily a couple times during Manson's set up at the front, including when he encouraged the audience to come forward "reaching out and touching faith" during his rendition of Personal Jesus, and did indeed touch him! The falling confetti interspersed with both small red and white confetti pieces and larger, shiny, red cross shaped ones accented the night beautifully too. I picked up one cross piece off the floor before I realised a second one had made its way into my purse as well! A grand night out which met if not exceeded my expectations on all fronts with the music and visuals combined!

Show was in all great..Manson is just - well he is what he is! Seeing him from the front row just try to avoid all his bodily fluids from getting all over...haha. Smashing Pumpkins were great....the sound at times was a little too loud because it washed out Billy Corgan's voice...but loved the show.

This show was the only reason why I left the house on a super humid day. I had a great time. I felt so nostalgic watching two groups perform that I loved as a preteen. What made my day was being showered in confetti twice. I love PNC so I was in 7th heaven.

I had an amazing time watching Manson and The Pumpkins.. The reviews saying Marilyn Manson isn't doing a good job are COMPLETELY OFF, he was AWESOME he has so much intensity I screamed my face off the whole time, the band was flawless and the sets were so intriguing... The PUMPKINS.. Wow, listen.. Billy is back on top with this tour, I've seen them 4 times, including them in their prime at MSG in 96' and This show rivaled it.. His voice is so strong and obviously Jimmy is a powerhouse that sets the music on fire just like the records.. They were BETTER than the record! Go see this show you will be telling all your friends about it.

Even though Manson and Smashing Pumpkins were co-headliners and Manson went first this particular show, Manson still killed it. He put as much energy into the show as he always has in the previous times I have seen him. The Raleigh crowd was not nearly into it as I seemed to be. A lot of people were walking around, getting food and drinks, and chatting. However, people walking in front of me and munching on pretzels aside, it was an amazing show. Manson deserved more attention than he got from the crowd in general.

Smashing Pumpkins played all their top hits and Billy was entertaining as usual. Have never seen Marilyn Manson before but he was fantastic and probably even upstaged the Pumpkins. Will definitely see him again.

This show was completely over priced. Neither performance was extraordinary nor exciting. Both acts performed as they did not want to be there, looked like they were there for the money, then the show was over. And 35 bucks for a shirt?wow...

The show was spectacular; musical quality of the artists, MM showmanship, intimacy of the floor "seats", acoustics in the hall all simply spectacular! This was a bucket list show for me; and it actually changed my life. Inspired me to read up on Billy Corgan and get interested in some of his other activities, which helped me improve my business. Don't miss this show!

Marilyn Manson opened with several of his hits & really brought his A game. Along with a great set list, costume changes & props really made the show spectacular. Smashing Pumpkins were incredible!!! Great interaction with audience & really played their hearts out. I definitely enjoyed myself & would recommend fans of either artist to attend. Great performances from both!!!

Manson put on an awesome show,he went deep into his catalog, put out a lot of energy and interacted with the crowd I wish the same could be said for the smashing pumpkins although it was a good set the energy wasn't there. They should have opened for Manson and a few tweeks to the set list would have gone a long way. It came to a point I almost felt bad for them as people started leaving half way through their performance. I recommend staying till the end because you never know what you'll miss but they should definitely change the lineup

Marylin Manson as always was awesome atop his pulpit. The Smashing Pumpkins tried to cover up true musicianship with toys and gadgets. The worst was the kickstarter on the drum kit. Truly painful to listen to and we left early.

Incredible performance by Mr. Corgan and his band. Raining sideways outside this canopy covered amphitheater, the most vulnerable place was the stage. Even though the band was getting very wet the entire show, they played a solid 130 minute set. Most of their hits from over the years, with several newer songs sprinkled in, the play list was fantastic for fans new & old. Interesting mix in the audience, older and younger fans alike were all thrilled with the show. The 50'+ stack of video screens behind the performers provided interesting accompaniment to the music, with all types of wild effects, patterns and colors. These video screens provided the only lighting for about 5 minutes when the stage lights went out, likely due to the awash stage area. The band didn't miss a beat and continued to play to the joy of the hearty crowd. The sound was well mixed, with all the musicians cleanly coming thru the audio onslaught. After a 10 minute encore, the band stopped just before the venue's sound curfew. Knowing where their bread is buttered, the band lingered for a while at the front of the stage to sign some autographs and generally appreciate their rapturous audience. Wonderful experience and one of the best concerts I've gone to in my 54 years on this planet!!!

Saint Augustine Amphitheatre is a Great venue to see any show! We prepared for rain, but nobody expected hurricane like conditions. Wind was whipping and rain was coming in sideways. The band was getting pelted all night. Power went out several times and Billy Corgans guitar feed went out during one song. He was very funny and laughed out loud during several songs as he was getting drenched. All had a great time and laughed together throughout.

I went to see the pumpkins for the first time. It was absolutely amazing!!! The band members aside from Corgan are new, and that's fine cause they fit perfectly and will age well with time like any other band who gets some new faces. The drummer is off the wall good! I do not go to very many concerts- that said, will I see them again based on the last show? DEFINITELY!!! Saving up for my next ticket when they come this way again! If you love bands who had their start in the late 80's - 90's, I recommend you see them. They have unique new songs that perfectly fit their style and move forward smoothly with time. Awesome band, awesome live! Enough said.

The sound was really good last night, in the shiny new complex, with the exception of one of the later Oceania songs in which William just banged on his mis-tuned tinny Stratocaster like a monkey and gave everyone a frontal headache. His drummer, who had kind of a Timberlake look, was positively shredding. The bass and other guitar played well but like they were at the end of a long tour…let s get home and crawl under the sheets for a few weeks. Both the big globe visual screen and light show were a total bore. I read somewhere it was designed by the Pink Floyd guy, who I m sure wasn t cheap…waste of money. I don t think I looked at the video more than once. Ooh, archival footage of a missile factory….think deep thoughts about the slightly tangential relationship to the music…ooh a big lonely tree and a starry night sky, how tripped out…who cares? Maybe it s because William, with his chubby belly hanging out of his too tight t shirt and dramatic rock poses, is more interesting to check out. I love how coming from the era he does that he clearly worships overproduced rock gods like Floyd…at one point during a ballad he even did a pretty decent Waters imitation croak. Awesome. It was hilariously disconnected how much he talked about football. All of the fake artsy farts were giving me the stink eye earlier for watching Monday night football during the opening band, then it turns out William probably was, too. Go cry about it, gloom cookies…its America, we love crippling violence. While we re at it though, it was actually bizarre that the torch bearer for twisted, obsessive romantic love responded to boos at his mention of Tom Brady with What s wrong with it? Do well and marry a hot model. Really, dip? That s what it s all about? Are we back at the point of admiring Aryan frat boys who have been given every opportunity to succeed? Is whatever Brady is doing, Doing well ? Funny I thought it was about creating beauty through your art and finding lasting love and warmth and acceptance. Another point about the interlude commentary: the last time I saw this band was in some small venue in San Francisco, and I m pretty sure that like me, nobody cares or remembers about New York s acceptance of SP back in the day. You re just playing yourself with the whole doesn t it make more sense now? thing. Expressions like this don t further your reputation as misunderstood, gifted crank, or ruin your mystique… it s just irritating arrogance. At the end of the day you write good songs, have an interesting voice and can really play your guitar…let s leave it at that. If you actually want to get into it, SP probably does make more sense now, but it doesn t have anything to do with you. It s because back in the day New York wasn t just a corporate run shadow of its former self that eats whatever gets stuffed down its bloated throat, it actually had a music scene of its own that didn t really dig your grandiose arrangements. So how does it feel that your way of doing the good old rock and roll goes hand in hand with late stage corporate capitalism? But don t worry, William, you re currently winning the battle of you vs. Kurt. In 20 years nobody will really remember Nirvana and you can still do a farewell tour. Oceania is a very good album. I thought so as soon as it came out, and still do. And getting to hear it whole was awesome, even if the lemmings in the crowd didn t know any better. Takes balls to play the whole thing front to back (another Pink Floyd move, bravo). Try that, Soundgarden. I also think the newly remastered and expanded Mellon Collie sounds amazing, so amazing that the band should release an acoustic version of it and tour small venues to promote. Are you listening, William? All in all a good safe arena rock night was had by all. Starting the dusty old classics with XYU was a heavy, much appreciated choice, and the Bowie cover was sweet as well. The new new song (Dream Machine) they debuted played well, but I would have liked to hear Porcelina and Mayonnaise instead. Maybe next time. And the good t shirts were only $20….rock on.

The seats were great. Right behind the sound desk. Patriot center parking was great also. The band gave it a professional go. This is my fourth time seeing them. SP did seem a bit winded in my opinion but were still on their game. Jeff Schroeder has been in the woodshed. I can see some mannerisms that could have came from playing with Billy Corgan for close to 7 years. Morning Parade was a great band. Very catchy. Go to this show.

To put things in perspective the last " rock" band I saw live was in april at stage AE they played for 60 mins. The Pumpkins played for 180 mins! Billy's vocals have improved in my option over the years and he sounded great. New drummer is no jimmy chamberlain but who could ever replace that kind of talent. Key songs on Oceania that killed live: One Diamond,One Heart; Oceania and surprisingly Wildflower. Their history set list was impressive including BWBW, Tonight Tonight, Disarm and a few surprises like Hummer. Overall if you want to see a real rock show these guys bring it. This is a great venue and a group that is worth traveling to see. No crazy pyro or costumes just 4 souls doing what they do best.

The Smashing Pumpkins put on a great show there is no doubt about that. The only slow spot for me was when Billy was in some sort of colored bucket for several songs. They played all the hits and much much more. The show is a spectacle for the eyes as well as the ears. It was definitely titled correctly Shiny And Oh So Bright. One of the brightest, light wise, concerts I have ever been to if not the brightest. My only complaint is not with the show but with the seats at Bridgestone Arena. They are too small. I do not know what happened from my last visit a few months ago but the seats are entirely too small now for adults. Most of the people sitting in my section also complained about the seats being too small. Section 120 if interested.

The set opened with Metric, that delivered a solid, good performance and served as a good contrast to Smashing Pumpkins. Smashing Pumpkins played for three hours, so fans were not disappointed. The multimedia presentation was intriguing, although it became a bit distracting after the second hour. I didn't like the costuming -- found it distracting at times, but the musicians are amazing. Still, some of the selections needed to be mixed up a bit more for a three hour show. There was a point, at about the second hour, where songs began to run together. Then they pumped it up again for the finale. This is a show for fans...if the refrain of "Despite all the rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage" runs through your mind on bad days, you should attend this show.
